Ιησούς Ναυή 14

1Και ούτοι είναι οι τόποι, τους οποίους οι υιοί Ισραήλ εκληρονόμησαν εν τη γη Χαναάν, τους οποίους εκληροδότησαν εις αυτούς Ελεάζαρ ο ιερεύς και Ιησούς ο υιός του Ναυή και οι αρχηγοί των πατριών των φυλών των υιών Ισραήλ. 2Διά κλήρου έγεινεν η κληρονομία των εννέα τούτων φυλών και της ημισείας φυλής, καθώς προσέταξεν ο Κύριος διά του Μωϋσέως. 3Διότι ο Μωϋσής είχε δώσει την κληρονομίαν των δύο φυλών και της ημισείας φυλής από του πέραν του Ιορδάνου· εις τους Λευΐτας όμως δεν έδωκε κληρονομίαν μεταξύ αυτών. 4Διότι οι υιοί Ιωσήφ ήσαν δύο φυλαί, του Μανασσή και του Εφραΐμ· και δεν έδωκαν εις τους Λευΐτας μερίδιον εν τη γη ειμή πόλεις διά να κατοικώσι, μετά των προαστείων αυτών, διά τα κτήνη αυτών και διά την περιουσίαν αυτών. 5Καθώς προσέταξε Κύριος εις τον Μωϋσήν, ούτως έκαμον οι υιοί Ισραήλ, και διεμοίρασαν την γην. 6Και προσήλθον οι υιοί Ιούδα προς τον Ιησούν εις Γάλγαλα, και είπε προς αυτόν Χάλεβ ο υιός του Ιεφοννή ο Κενεζαίος, Συ εξεύρεις τον λόγον τον οποίον ελάλησεν ο Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, τον άνθρωπον του Θεού, περί εμού και σου εν Κάδης-βαρνή· 7ήμην τεσσαράκοντα ετών ηλικίας, ότε με απέστειλεν ο Μωϋσής ο δούλος του Κυρίου από Κάδης-βαρνή διά να κατασκοπεύσω την γήν· και απήγγειλα προς αυτόν λόγον, όστις ήτο εν τη καρδία μου· 8οι αδελφοί μου όμως, οι συναναβάντες μετ' εμού, ενέκρωσαν την καρδίαν του λαού· αλλ' εγώ ηκολούθησα εντελώς Κύριον τον Θεόν μου· 9και ώμοσεν ο Μωϋσής την ημέραν εκείνην λέγων, Εξάπαντος η γη, την οποίαν επάτησαν οι πόδες σου, θέλει είσθαι κληρονομία ιδική σου και των υιών σου διαπαντός· διότι εντελώς ηκολούθησας Κύριον τον Θεόν μου· 10και τώρα, ιδού, ο Κύριος με εφύλαξε ζώντα, καθώς είπε, τα τεσσαράκοντα πέντε ταύτα έτη, αφ' ης ημέρας ελάλησεν ο Κύριος τον λόγον τούτον προς τον Μωϋσήν, ότε ο Ισραήλ επορεύετο εν τη ερήμω· και τώρα, ιδού, εγώ είμαι σήμερον ογδοήκοντα πέντε ετών ηλικίας· 11έτι και την σήμερον είμαι δυνατός, καθώς την ημέραν ότε με απέστειλεν ο Μωϋσής· ως ήτο τότε η δύναμίς μου διά πόλεμον και διά να εξέρχωμαι και διά να εισέρχωμαι· 12τώρα λοιπόν δος μοι το όρος τούτο, περί του οποίου ελάλησεν ο Κύριος την ημέραν εκείνην· διότι συ ήκουσας την ημέραν εκείνην, ότι είναι εκεί Ανακείμ και πόλεις μεγάλαι ωχυρωμέναι· εάν ο Κύριος ήναι μετ' εμού, εγώ θέλω δυνηθή να εκδιώξω αυτούς, καθώς είπεν ο Κύριος. 13Και ευλόγησεν αυτόν ο Ιησούς και έδωκεν εις τον Χάλεβ τον υιόν του Ιεφοννή την Χεβρών εις κληρονομίαν. 14Διά τούτο η Χεβρών αποκατέστη κληρονομία του Χάλεβ υιού του Ιεφοννή του Κενεζαίου έως της σήμερον, διότι εντελώς ηκολούθησε Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ. 15το δε όνομα της Χεβρών πρότερον ήτο Κιριάθ-αρβά· ήτο δε ο Αρβά άνθρωπος μέγας μεταξύ των Ανακείμ. Και η γη ησύχασεν από του πολέμου.

1These are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed to them, 2by the lot of their inheritance, as Yahweh commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe. 3For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them. 4For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: and they gave no portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their livestock and for their property. 5The children of Israel did as Yahweh commanded Moses, and they divided the land. 6Then the children of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea. 7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart. 8Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my God. 9Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed Yahweh my God.’ 10“Now, behold, Yahweh has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Yahweh spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today. 11As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in. 12Now therefore give me this hill country, of which Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh spoke.” 13Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. 14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day; because he wholly followed Yahweh, the God of Israel. 15Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. The land had rest from war.

1Dit is nu hetgeen de kinderen Israels geerfd hebben in het land Kanaan; hetwelk de priester Eleazar, en Jozua, de zoon van Nun, en de hoofden der vaderen van de stammen der kinderen Israels, hun hebben doen erven; 2Door het lot hunner erfenis, gelijk als de HEERE door den dienst van Mozes geboden had, aangaande de negen stammen en den halven stam. 3Want aan de twee stammen en den halven stam had Mozes een erfdeel gegeven op gene zijde van de Jordaan; maar aan de Levieten had hij geen erfdeel onder hen gegeven. 4Want de kinderen van Jozef waren twee stammen, Manasse en Efraim; en aan de Levieten gaven zij geen deel in het land, maar steden om te bewonen, en derzelver voorsteden voor hun vee en voor hun bezitting. 5Gelijk als de HEERE Mozes geboden had, alzo deden de kinderen Israels, en zij deelden het land. 6Toen naderden de kinderen van Juda tot Jozua, te Gilgal, en Kaleb, de zoon van Jefunne, de Keneziet, zeide tot hem: Gij weet het woord, dat de HEERE tot Mozes, den man Gods, gesproken heeft te Kades-Barnea, ter oorzake van mij, en ter oorzake van u. 7Ik was veertig jaren oud, toen Mozes, de knecht des HEEREN, mij uitgezonden heeft van Kades-Barnea, om het land te verspieden, en ik hem antwoord bracht, gelijk als het in mijn hart was. 8Maar mijn broeders, die met mij opgegaan waren, deden het hart des volks smelten; doch ik volhardde den HEERE, mijn God, na te volgen. 9Toen zwoer Mozes te dien zelven dage, zeggende: Indien niet het land, waarop uw voet getreden heeft, u en uw kinderen ten erfdeel zal zijn in eeuwigheid, dewijl gij volhard hebt den HEERE, mijn God, na te volgen. 10En nu, zie, de HEERE heeft mij in het leven behouden, gelijk als Hij gesproken heeft; het zijn nu vijf en veertig jaren, sedert dat de HEERE dit woord tot Mozes gesproken heeft, toen Israel in de woestijn wandelde; en nu, zie, ik ben heden vijf en tachtig jaren oud. 11Ik ben nog heden zo sterk, gelijk als ik was ten dage, toen Mozes mij uitzond; gelijk mijn kracht toen was, alzo is nu mijn kracht, tot den oorlog, en om uit te gaan, en om in te gaan. 12En nu, geef mij dit gebergte, waarvan de HEERE te dien dage gesproken heeft; want gij hebt het te dienzelven dage gehoord, dat de Enakieten aldaar waren, en dat er grote vaste steden waren; of de HEERE met mij ware, dat ik hen verdreef, gelijk als de HEERE gesproken heeft. 13Toen zegende hem Jozua, en hij gaf Kaleb, den zoon van Jefunne, Hebron ten erfdeel. 14Daarom werd Hebron aan Kaleb, den zoon van Jefunne, den Keneziet, ten erfdeel tot op dezen dag; omdat hij volhard had den HEERE, den God Israels, na te volgen. 15De naam nu van Hebron was eertijds Kirjath-Arba, die een groot mens geweest is onder de Enakieten. En het land rustte van den krijg.
