1Ήλθον δε οι δύο άγγελοι εις τα Σόδομα το εσπέρας· και εκάθητο ο Λωτ παρά την πύλην των Σοδόμων· ιδών δε ο Λωτ, εσηκώθη εις συνάντησιν αυτών και προσεκύνησεν επί πρόσωπον έως εδάφους· 2και είπεν, Ιδού, κύριοί μου, εκκλίνατε, παρακαλώ, προς την οικίαν του δούλου σας, και διανυκτερεύσατε και πλύνατε τους πόδας σας· και σηκωθέντες πρωΐ, θέλετε υπάγει εις την οδόν σας· οι δε είπον, Ουχί, αλλ' εν τη πλατεία θέλομεν διανυκτερεύσει. 3Αφού δε εβίασεν αυτούς πολύ, εξέκλιναν προς αυτόν και εισήλθον εις την οικίαν αυτού· και έκαμεν εις αυτούς συμπόσιον, και έψησεν άζυμα και έφαγον. 4Πριν δε κοιμηθώσιν, οι άνδρες της πόλεως, οι άνδρες των Σοδόμων, περιεκύκλωσαν την οικίαν, νέοι και γέροντες, άπας ο λαός ομού πανταχόθεν· 5και έκραζον προς τον Λωτ και έλεγον προς αυτόν, Που είναι οι άνδρες οι εισελθόντες προς σε την νύκτα; έκβαλε αυτούς προς ημάς, διά να γνωρίσωμεν αυτούς. 6Εξήλθε δε ο Λωτ προς αυτούς εις το πρόθυρον, και έκλεισε την θύραν οπίσω αυτού, 7και είπε, Μη, αδελφοί μου, μη πράξητε τοιούτον κακόν· 8ιδού, έχω δύο θυγατέρας αίτινες δεν εγνώρισαν άνδρα· να σας φέρω λοιπόν αυτάς έξω· και κάμετε εις αυτάς, όπως φανή εις εσάς αρεστόν· μόνον εις τους άνδρας τούτους μη πράξητε μηδέν, επειδή διά τούτο εισήλθον υπό την σκιάν της στέγης μου. 9Οι δε είπον, Φύγε απ' εκεί. Και εβίαζον τον άνθρωπον τον Λωτ καθ' υπερβολήν, και επλησίασαν διά να συντρίψωσι την θύραν· 10Εκτείναντες δε οι άνδρες τας χείρας αυτών έσυραν τον Λωτ προς εαυτούς εις την οικίαν, και έκλεισαν την θύραν· 11τους δε ανθρώπους, τους όντας εις την θύραν της οικίας, εκτύπησαν με αορασίαν από μικρού έως μεγάλου, ώστε απέκαμον ζητούντες την θύραν. 12Και είπον οι άνδρες προς τον Λωτ, Έχεις εδώ άλλον τινά; γαμβρόν υιούς ή θυγατέρας ή όντινα άλλον έχεις εν τη πόλει, εξάγαγε αυτούς εκ του τόπου· 13διότι ημείς καταστρέφομεν τον τόπον τούτον, επειδή η κραυγή αυτών εμεγάλυνεν ενώπιον του Κυρίου· και απέστειλεν ημάς ο Κύριος διά να καταστρέψωμεν αυτόν. 14Εξήλθε λοιπόν ο Λωτ και ελάλησε προς τους γαμβρούς αυτού, τους μέλλοντας να λάβωσι τας θυγατέρας αυτού, και είπε, Σηκώθητε, εξέλθετε εκ του τόπου τούτου· διότι καταστρέφει ο Κύριος την πόλιν. Αλλ' εφάνη εις τους γαμβρούς αυτού ως αστεϊζόμενος. 15Και ότε έγεινεν αυγή, εβίαζον οι άγγελοι τον Λωτ, λέγοντες· Σηκώθητι, λάβε την γυναίκα σου και τας δύο σου θυγατέρας, τας ευρισκομένας εδώ, διά να μη συναπολεσθής και συ εν τη ανομία της πόλεως. 16Επειδή δε εβράδυνεν, οι άνδρες πιάσαντες την χείρα αυτού και την χείρα της γυναικός αυτού και τας χείρας των δύο θυγατέρων αυτού, διότι εσπλαγχνίσθη αυτόν ο Κύριος, εξήγαγον αυτόν και έθεσαν αυτόν έξω της πόλεως. 17Και ότε εξήγαγον αυτούς έξω, είπεν ο Κύριος, Διάσωσον την ζωήν σου· μη περιβλέψης οπίσω σου, και μη σταθής καθ' όλην την περίχωρον· διασώθητι εις το όρος, διά να μη απολεσθής. 18Και είπεν ο Λωτ προς αυτούς, Μη, παρακαλώ, Κύριε· 19ιδού, ο δούλός σου εύρηκε χάριν ενώπιόν σου, και εμεγάλυνας το έλεός σου, το οποίον έκαμες προς εμέ, φυλάττων την ζωήν μου· αλλ' εγώ δεν θέλω δυνηθή να διασωθώ εις το όρος, μήπως με προφθάση το κακόν και αποθάνω· 20ιδού, παρακαλώ, η πόλις αύτη είναι πλησίον ώστε να καταφύγω εκεί, και είναι μικρά· εκεί, παρακαλώ, να διασωθώ· δεν είναι μικρά; και θέλει ζήσει η ψυχή μου. 21Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Κύριος, Ιδού, επήκουσά σου και εις το πράγμα τούτο, να μη καταστρέψω την πόλιν, περί της οποίας ελάλησας· 22τάχυνον, διασώθητι εκεί· διότι δεν θέλω δυνηθή να κάμω ουδέν, εωσού φθάσης εκεί· διά τούτο εκάλεσε το όνομα της πόλεως Σηγώρ. 23Ο ήλιος ανέτειλεν επί την γην, ότε ο Λωτ εισήλθεν εις Σηγώρ. 24Και έβρεξεν ο Κύριος επί τα Σόδομα και Γόμορρα θείον και πυρ παρά Κυρίου εκ του ουρανού· 25και κατέστρεψε τας πόλεις ταύτας, και πάντα τα περίχωρα και πάντας τους κατοίκους των πόλεων και τα φυτά της γης. 26Αλλ' γυνή αυτού περιβλέψασα όπισθεν αυτού έγεινε στήλη άλατος. 27Ο δε Αβραάμ σηκωθείς ενωρίς το πρωΐ ήλθεν εις τον τόπον όπου είχε σταθή ενώπιον του Κυρίου· 28και βλέψας επί τα Σόδομα και Γόμορρα και εφ' όλην την γην της περιχώρου, είδε, και ιδού, ανέβαινε καπνός από της γης, ως καπνός καμίνου. 29Ούτω λοιπόν, ότε ο Θεός κατέστρεψε τας πόλεις της περιχώρου, ενεθυμήθη ο Θεός τον Αβραάμ, και εξαπέστειλε τον Λωτ εκ μέσου της καταστροφής, ότε κατέστρεψε τας πόλεις, εις τας οποίας κατώκει ο Λωτ. 30Ανέβη δε ο Λωτ από Σηγώρ και κατώκησεν εν τω όρει, και μετ' αυτού αι δύο θυγατέρες αυτού, διότι εφοβήθη να κατοικήση εν Σηγώρ· και κατώκησεν εν σπηλαίω, αυτός και αι δύο θυγατέρες αυτού. 31Και είπεν η πρεσβυτέρα προς την νεωτέραν, Ο πατήρ ημών είναι γέρων, και άνθρωπος δεν είναι επί της γης, διά να εισέλθη προς ημάς κατά την συνήθειαν πάσης της γής· 32ελθέ, ας ποτίσωμεν τον πατέρα, ημών οίνον, και ας κοιμηθώμεν μετ' αυτού, και ας αναστήσωμεν σπέρμα εκ του πατρός ημών. 33Επότισαν λοιπόν τον πατέρα αυτών οίνον κατ' εκείνην την νύκτα· και εισήλθεν η πρεσβυτέρα και εκοιμήθη μετά του πατρός αυτής· και εκείνος δεν ενόησεν ούτε πότε επλαγίασεν αυτή, και πότε εσηκώθη. 34Και την επαύριον είπεν η πρεσβυτέρα προς την νεωτέραν, Ιδού, εγώ εκοιμήθην χθές την νύκτα μετά του πατρός ημών· ας ποτίσωμεν αυτόν οίνον και την νύκτα ταύτην, και εισελθούσα συ, κοιμήθητι μετ' αυτού, και ας αναστήσωμεν σπέρμα εκ του πατρός ημών. 35Επότισαν λοιπόν και την νύκτα εκείνην τον πατέρα αυτών οίνον, και σηκωθείσα η νεωτέρα, εκοιμήθη μετ' αυτού· και εκείνος δεν ενόησεν ούτε πότε επλαγίασεν αυτή, και πότε εσηκώθη. 36Και συνέλαβον αι δύο θυγατέρες του Λωτ εκ του πατρός αυτών. 37Και εγέννησεν η πρεσβυτέρα υιόν και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Μωάβ· ούτος είναι ο πατήρ των Μωαβιτών έως της σήμερον. 38Εγέννησε δε και η νεωτέρα υιόν και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Βεν-αμμί· ούτος είναι ο πατήρ των Αμμωνιτών έως της σήμερον.
1The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth, 2and he said, “See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.” 3He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. 4But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter. 5They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.” 6Lot went out to them to the door, and shut the door after him. 7He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly. 8See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.” 9They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now will we deal worse with you, than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and drew near to break the door. 10But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door. 11They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door. 12The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whoever you have in the city, bring them out of the place: 13for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.” 14Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking. 15When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife, and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.” 16But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city. 17It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!” 18Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord. 19See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die. 20See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.” 21He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. 22Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. 23The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar. 24Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky. 25He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground. 26But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. 27Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh. 28He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and looked, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace. 29When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived. 30Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters. 31The firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth. 32Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s seed.” 33They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she arose. 34It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine again, tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s seed.” 35They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up. 36Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father. 37The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day. 38The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.

Daarom noemde men den naam dezer stad Zoar. 23De zon ging op boven de aarde, als Lot te Zoar inkwam. 24Toen deed de HEERE zwavel en vuur over Sodom en Gomorra regenen, van den HEERE uit den hemel. 25En Hij keerde deze steden om, en die ganse vlakte, en alle inwoners dezer steden, ook het gewas des lands. 26En zijn huisvrouw zag om van achter hem; en zij werd een zoutpilaar. 27En Abraham maakte zich deszelven morgens vroeg op, naar de plaats, waar hij voor het aangezicht des HEEREN gestaan had. 28En hij zag naar Sodom en Gomorra toe, en naar het ganse land van die vlakte; en hij zag, en ziet, er ging een rook van het land op, gelijk de rook eens ovens. 29En het geschiedde, toen God de steden dezer vlakte verdierf, dat God aan Abraham gedacht, en Hij leidde Lot uit het midden dezer omkering, in het omkeren dier steden, in welke Lot gewoond had. 30En Lot toog op uit Zoar, en woonde op den berg, en zijn twee dochters met hem; want hij vreesde binnen Zoar te wonen. En hij woonde in een spelonk, hij en zijn twee dochters. 31Toen zeide de eerstgeborene tot de jongste: Onze vader is oud, en er is geen man in dit land, om tot ons in te gaan, naar de wijze der ganse aarde. 32Kom, laat ons onze vader wijn te drinken geven, en bij hem liggen, opdat wij van onze vader zaad in het leven behouden. 33En zij gaven dien nacht haar vader wijn te drinken; en de eerstgeborene kwam, en lag bij haar vader, en hij werd het niet gewaar in haar nederliggen, noch in haar opstaan. 34En het geschiedde des anderen daags, dat de eerstgeborene zeide tot de jongste: Zie, ik heb gisteren nacht bij mijn vader gelegen; laat ons ook dezen nacht hem wijn te drinken geven; ga dan in, lig bij hem, opdat wij van onzen vader zaad in het leven behouden. 35En zij gaven haar vader ook dien nacht wijn te drinken, en de jongste stond op, en lag bij hem. En hij werd het niet gewaar in haar nederliggen, noch in haar opstaan. 36En de twee dochters van Lot werden bevrucht van haar vader. 37En de eerstgeborene baarde een zoon, en noemde zijn naam Moab; deze is de vader der Moabieten, tot op dezen dag. 38En de jongste baarde ook een zoon, en noemde zijn naam Ben-Ammi; deze is de vader der kinderen Ammons, tot op dezen dag.
