1Εις τον τρίτον μήνα της εξόδου των υιών Ισραήλ εκ της Αιγύπτου, την ημέραν ταύτην ήλθον εις την έρημον Σινά. 2Εσηκώθησαν δε από Ραφιδείν και ήλθον εις την έρημον Σινά και εστρατοπέδευσαν εν τη ερήμω· και εκεί κατεσκήνωσεν ο Ισραήλ απέναντι του όρους. 3Ο δε Μωϋσής ανέβη προς τον Θεόν· και εκάλεσεν αυτόν ο Κύριος εκ του όρους, λέγων, Ούτω θέλεις ειπεί προς τον οίκον Ιακώβ, και αναγγείλει προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ. 4Σεις είδετε όσα έκαμα εις τους Αιγυπτίους, και σας εσήκωσα ως επί πτερύγων αετού και σας έφερα προς εμαυτόν· 5τώρα λοιπόν εάν τωόντι υπακούσητε εις την φωνήν μου, και φυλάξητε την διαθήκην μου, θέλετε είσθαι εις εμέ ο εκλεκτός από πάντων των λαών· διότι ιδική μου είναι πάσα η γή· 6και σεις θέλετε είσθαι εις εμέ βασίλειον ιεράτευμα και έθνος άγιον. Ούτοι είναι οι λόγοι, τους οποίους θέλεις ειπεί προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ. 7Και ήλθεν ο Μωϋσής και εκάλεσε τους πρεσβυτέρους του λαού και έθεσεν έμπροσθεν αυτών πάντας εκείνους τους λόγους, τους οποίους προσέταξεν εις αυτόν ο Κύριος. 8Και απεκρίθη ομοφώνως πας ο λαός, λέγων, Πάντα όσα είπεν ο Κύριος θέλομεν πράξει. Και ανέφερεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Κύριον τους λόγους του λαού. 9Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Ιδού, εγώ έρχομαι προς σε εν νεφέλη πυκνή, διά να ακούση ο λαός όταν λαλήσω προς σε, και έτι να πιστεύη εις σε πάντοτε. Ανήγγειλε δε ο Μωϋσής προς τον Κύριον τους λόγους του λαού. 10Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Ύπαγε προς τον λαόν και αγίασον αυτούς σήμερον και αύριον, και ας πλύνωσι τα ιμάτια αυτών· 11και ας ήναι έτοιμοι εις την ημέραν την τρίτην· διότι εν τη ημέρα τη τρίτη θέλει καταβή ο Κύριος επί το όρος Σινά ενώπιον παντός του λαού· 12και θέλεις βάλει εις τον λαόν όρια κυκλόθεν, λέγων, Προσέχετε εις εαυτούς μη αναβήτε εις το όρος ή εγγίσητε εις τα άκρα αυτού· όστις εγγίση το όρος, θέλει εξάπαντος θανατωθή· 13δεν θέλει εγγίσει εις αυτόν χειρ, διότι με λίθους θέλει λιθοβοληθή ή με βέλη θέλει κατατοξευθή· είτε ζώον είναι είτε άνθρωπος, δεν θέλει ζήσει. Όταν η σάλπιγξ ηχήση, τότε θέλουσιν αναβή επί το όρος. 14Και κατέβη ο Μωϋσής από του όρους προς τον λαόν και ηγίασε τον λαόν· και έπλυναν τα ιμάτια αυτών. 15Και είπε προς τον λαόν, Γίνεσθε έτοιμοι διά την ημέραν την τρίτην· μη πλησιάσητε εις γυναίκα. 16Και εν τη ημέρα τη τρίτη το πρωΐ έγειναν βρονταί και αστραπαί, και νεφέλη πυκνή ήτο επί του όρους, και φωνή σάλπιγγος δυνατή σφόδρα· και έτρεμε πας ο λαός ο εν τω στρατοπέδω. 17Τότε εξήγαγεν ο Μωϋσής τον λαόν εκ του στρατοπέδου εις την συνάντησιν του Θεού· και εστάθησαν υπό το όρος. 18Το δε όρος Σινά ήτο όλον καπνός, διότι κατέβη ο Κύριος εν πυρί επ' αυτό· ανέβαινε δε ο καπνός αυτού ως καπνός καμίνου και όλον το όρος εσείετο σφόδρα. 19Και ότε η φωνή της σάλπιγγος προέβαινεν αυξανομένη σφόδρα, ο Μωϋσής ελάλει και ο Θεός απεκρίνετο προς αυτόν μετά φωνής. 20Και κατέβη ο Κύριος επί το όρος Σινά, επί την κορυφήν του όρους· και εκάλεσε Κύριος τον Μωϋσήν επί την κορυφήν του όρους, και ανέβη ο Μωϋσής. 21Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Καταβάς, διαμαρτυρήθητι προς τον λαόν, μήποτε υπερβώσι τα όρια και αναβώσι προς τον Κύριον διά να περιεργασθώσι και πέσωσι πολλοί εξ αυτών· 22και οι ιερείς δε οι πλησιάζοντες προς τον Κύριον ας αγιασθώσι, διά να μη εξορμήση ο Κύριος επ' αυτούς. 23Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Κύριον, Ο λαός δεν δύναται να αναβή εις το όρος Σινά· διότι συ προσέταξας εις ημάς, λέγων, Βάλε όρια κυκλόθεν του όρους και αγίασον αυτό. 24Και είπε Κύριος προς αυτόν, Ύπαγε, κατάβα· έπειτα θέλεις αναβή, συ και ο Ααρών μετά σού· οι ιερείς όμως και ο λαός ας μη υπερβώσι τα όρια διά να αναβώσι προς τον Κύριον, διά να μη εξορμήση επ' αυτούς. 25Και κατέβη ο Μωϋσής προς τον λαόν και ώμίλησε προς αυτούς.
1In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. 2When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain. 3Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself. 5Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine; 6and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” 7Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him. 8All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh. 9Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh. 10Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments, 11and be ready against the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai. 12You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death. 13No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.” 14Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes. 15He said to the people, “Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.” 16On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain. 18Mount Sinai, all it, smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. 19When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice. 20Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21Yahweh said to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish. 22Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break out on them.” 23Moses said to Yahweh, “The people can’t come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.’” 24Yahweh said to him, “Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break out against them.” 25So Moses went down to the people, and told them.

Want Mozes had de HEERE de woorden des volks verkondigd. 10Ook zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Ga tot het volk, en heilig hen heden en morgen, en dat zij hun klederen wassen, 11En bereid zijn tegen den derden dag; want op den derden dag zal de HEERE voor de ogen van al het volk afkomen, op den berg Sinai. 12En bepaal het volk rondom, zeggende: Wacht u op den berg te klimmen, en deszelfs einde aan te roeren; al wie den berg aanroert, zal zekerlijk gedood worden. 13Geen hand zal hem aanroeren, maar hij zal zekerlijk gestenigd, of zekerlijk doorschoten worden; hetzij een beest, hetzij een man, hij zal niet leven. Als de ramshoorn langzaam gaat, zullen zij op den berg klimmen. 14Toen ging Mozes van den berg af tot het volk, en hij heiligde het volk; en zij wiesen hun klederen. 15En hij zeide tot het volk: Weest gereed tegen den derden dag, en nadert niet tot de vrouw. 16En het geschiedde op den derden dag, toen het morgen was, dat er op den berg donderen en bliksemen waren, en een zware wolk, en het geluid ener zeer sterke bazuin, zodat al het volk verschrikte, dat in het leger was. 17En Mozes leidde het volk uit het leger, Gode tegemoet; en zij stonden aan het onderste des bergs. 18En de ganse berg Sinai rookte, omdat de HEERE op denzelven nederkwam in vuur; en zijn rook ging op, als de rook van een oven; en de ganse berg beefde zeer. 19Toen het geluid der bazuin gaande was, en zeer sterk werd, sprak Mozes; en God antwoordde hem met een stem. 20Als de HEERE nedergekomen was op den berg Sinai, op de spits des bergs, zo riep de HEERE Mozes op de spits des bergs; en Mozes klom op. 21En de HEERE zeide tot Mozes: Ga af, betuig dit volk, dat zij niet doorbreken tot den HEERE, om te zien, en velen van hen vallen. 22Daartoe zullen ook de priesters, die tot den HEERE naderen, zich heiligen, dat de HEERE niet tegen hen uitbreke. 23Toen zeide Mozes tot den HEERE: Het volk zal op den berg Sinai niet kunnen klimmen, want Gij hebt ons betuigd, zeggende: Bepaal den berg, en heilig hem. 24De HEERE dan zeide tot hem: Ga heen, klim af, daarna zult gij, en Aaron met u, opklimmen; doch dat de priesters en het volk niet doorbreken, om op te klimmen tot den HEERE, dat Hij tegen hen niet uitbreke. 25Toen klom Mozes af tot het volk, en zeide het hun aan.
