1Ðức Chúa Jêsus vừa ra khỏi đền thờ, có một người môn đồ thưa cùng Ngài rằng: Thưa thầy, hãy xem đá và các nhà nầy là dường nào! 2Ðức Chúa Jêsus đáp rằng: Ngươi thấy các nhà lớn nầy ư? Rồi ra sẽ không còn một hòn đá sót lại trên một hòn khác nữa; cả thảy đều đổ xuống. 3Ngài đương ngồi trên núi ô-li-ve, đối ngang đền thờ, thì Phi -e-rơ, Gia-cơ, Giăng và Anh-rê hỏi riêng Ngài rằng: 4Xin thầy nói cho chúng tôi biết lúc nào các điều đó xảy đến, và có điềm chi cho người ta biết các sự đó sẽ hoàn thành? 5Ðức Chúa Jêsus khởi phán rằng: Hãy giữ mình kẻo có ai lừa dối các ngươi chăng. 6Có nhiều kẻ sẽ lấy danh ta mà đến, xưng rằng: Chính ta là Ðấng Christ! Họ sẽ dỗ dành nhiều người. 7Khi các ngươi nghe nói về giặc và nghe tiếng đồn về giặc, thì đừng bối rối: những sự ấy phải xảy đến; nhưng chưa là cuối cùng. 8Vì dân nầy sẽ dấy lên nghịch cùng dân khác, nước nọ nghịch cùng nước kia; cũng sẽ có động đất nhiều nơi, và đói kém. Ðó chỉ là đầu sự khốn khổ mà thôi. 9Còn các ngươi, phải giữ mình; họ sẽ nộp các ngươi trước tòa án; các ngươi sẽ bị đánh trong các nhà hội, và vì cớ ta, sẽ đứng trước mặt các quan tổng đốc và các vua, để làm chứng trước mặt họ. 10Nhưng trước hết Tin Lành phải được giảng ra cho khắp muôn dân đã. 11Vả, khi họ điệu các ngươi đi nộp, chớ có ngại trước về điều mình sẽ nói, nhưng đến giờ đó, hãy nói theo lời sẽ ban cho; vì ấy không phải các ngươi nói, bèn là Ðức Thánh Linh vậy. 12Bấy giờ, anh sẽ nộp em cho phải chết, cha sẽ nộp con; con cái sẽ dấy lên nghịch cùng cha mẹ mình mà làm cho phải chết. 13Các ngươi sẽ bị mọi người ghen ghét vì danh ta; song ai cứ bền lòng đến cuối cùng, người ấy sẽ được cứu. 14Khi các ngươi sẽ xem thấy sự tàn nát gớm ghiếc lập ra nơi không nên lập (ai đọc phải để ý), bấy giờ những kẻ ở trong xứ Giu-đê hãy trốn lên núi; 15ai ở trên mái nhà chớ xuống, và chớ vào trong nhà mà chuyên bất luận vật gì; 16ai ở ngoài đồng chớ trở về lấy áo xống mình. 17Trong những ngày đó, khốn cho đờn bà có thai cùng đờn bà cho con bú! 18Hãy cầu nguyện cho điều đó chớ xảy ra lúc mùa đông. 19Vì trong những ngày ấy có tại nạn, đến nỗi từ ban đầu Ðức Chúa Trời dựng nên trời đất cho đến bây giờ chưa hề có như vậy, và về sau cũng sẽ chẳng hề có nữa. 20Nếu Chúa chẳng giảm bớt các ngày ấy, thì không có sanh vật nào được cứu; song vì cớ những kẻ Ngài đã chọn, nên Ngài đã giảm bớt các ngày ấy. 21Khi ấy, dầu có ai bảo các ngươi rằng: Kìa, Ðấng Christ ở đây, hay là Ngài ở đó, thì chớ tin. 22Những christ giả, tiên tri giả sẽ nổi lên, làm những dấu lạ phép lạ, nếu có thể được thì họ cũng dỗ dành chính những người được chọn. 23Hãy giữ lấy, ta đã nói trước cho các ngươi cả. 24Trong những ngày ấy, sau kỳ tại nạn, mặt trời sẽ tối tăm, mặt trăng chẳng chiếu sáng nữa, 25các ngôi sao sẽ tự trên trời rớt xuống, và thế lực các từng trời sẽ rúng động. 26Bấy giờ người ta sẽ thấy Con người lấy đại quyền đại vinh ngự đến trên đám mây; 27Ngài sẽ sai các thiên sứ đặng nhóm những kẻ được chọn ở bốn phương, từ đầu cùng đất cho đến đầu cùng trời. 28Hãy nghe lời thí dụ về cây vả. Vừa khi nhánh nó trở nên non và nứt lộc, thì biết mùa hạ gần tới. 29Cũng một lẽ ấy, khi các ngươi thấy các điều đó xảy đến, hãy biết Con người đã tới gần, ở nơi cửa. 30Quả thật, ta nói cùng các ngươi, dòng dõi nầy chẳng qua trước khi mọi sự kia xảy tới. 31Trời đất sẽ qua đi, song lời ta không bao giờ qua đâu. 32về ngày và giờ đó, chẳng ai biết chi hết, các thiên sứ trên trời, hay là Con cũng chẳng biết nữa; song chỉ Cha mà thôi. 33Hãy giữ mình, tỉnh thức; vì các ngươi chẳng biết kỳ đó đến khi nào. 34Ấy cũng như một người kia đi đường xa, bỏ nhà, giao cho đầy tớ mỗi đứa cai quản một việc, và cũng biểu đứa canh cửa thức canh. 35Vậy, các ngươi hãy thức canh, vì không biết chủ nhà về lúc nào, hoặc chiều tối, nửa đêm, lúc gà gáy, hay là sớm mai, 36e cho người về thình lình, gặp các ngươi ngủ chăng. 37Ðiều mà ta nói cùng các ngươi, ta cũng nói cho mọi người: Hãy tỉnh thức!
1As he went out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, see what kind of stones and what kind of buildings!” 2Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone on another, which will not be thrown down.” 3As he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, 4“Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are all about to be fulfilled?” 5Jesus, answering, began to tell them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. 6For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and will lead many astray. 7“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, don’t be troubled. For those must happen, but the end is not yet. 8For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places. There will be famines and troubles. These things are the beginning of birth pains. 9But watch yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils. You will be beaten in synagogues. You will stand before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them. 10The Good News must first be preached to all the nations. 11When they lead you away and deliver you up, don’t be anxious beforehand, or premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 12“Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. 13You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end, the same will be saved. 14But when you see the abomination of desolation,spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, 15and let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter in, to take anything out of his house. 16Let him who is in the field not return back to take his cloak. 17But woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse babies in those days! 18Pray that your flight won’t be in the winter. 19For in those days there will be oppression, such as there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will be. 20Unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the sake of the chosen ones, whom he picked out, he shortened the days. 21Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ don’t believe it. 22For there will arise false christs and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones. 23But you watch. “Behold, I have told you all things beforehand. 24But in those days, after that oppression, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, 25the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. 26Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27Then he will send out his angels, and will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky. 28“Now from the fig tree, learn this parable. When the branch has now become tender, and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near; 29even so you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know that it is near, at the doors. 30Most certainly I say to you, this generationwill not pass away until all these things happen. 31Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 32But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you don’t know when the time is. 34“It is like a man, traveling to another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch. 35Watch therefore, for you don’t know when the lord of the house is coming, whether at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning; 36lest coming suddenly he might find you sleeping. 37What I tell you, I tell all: Watch.”
1En als Hij uit den tempel ging, zeide een van Zijn discipelen tot Hem: Meester, zie, hoedanige stenen, en hoedanige gebouwen! 2En Jezus, antwoordende, zeide tot hem: Ziet gij deze grote gebouwen? Er zal niet een steen op den anderen steen gelaten worden, die niet afgebroken zal worden. 3En als Hij gezeten was op den Olijfberg, tegen de tempel over, vraagden Hem Petrus, en Jakobus, en Johannes, en Andreas, alleen: 4Zeg ons, wanneer zullen deze dingen zijn? En welk is het teken, wanneer deze dingen alle voleindigd zullen worden? 5En Jezus, hun antwoordende, begon te zeggen: Ziet toe, dat u niemand verleide. 6Want velen zullen komen onder Mijn Naam, zeggende: Ik ben de Christus; en zullen velen verleiden. 7En wanneer gij zult horen van oorlogen, en geruchten van oorlogen, zo wordt niet verschrikt; want dit moet geschieden; maar nog is het einde niet. 8Want het ene volk zal tegen het andere volk opstaan, en het ene koninkrijk tegen het andere koninkrijk; en er zullen aardbevingen zijn in verscheidene plaatsen, en er zullen hongersnoden wezen, en beroerten. Deze dingen zijn maar beginselen der smarten. 9Maar ziet gij voor uzelven toe; want zij zullen u overleveren in de raadsvergaderingen, en in de synagogen; gij zult geslagen worden, en voor stadhouders en koningen zult gij gesteld worden, om Mijnentwil, hun tot een getuigenis. 10En het Evangelie moet eerst gepredikt worden onder al de volken. 11Doch wanneer zij u leiden zullen, om u over te leveren, zo zijt te voren niet bezorgd, wat gij spreken zult, en bedenkt het niet; maar zo wat u in die ure gegeven zal worden, spreekt dat; want gij zijt het niet, die spreekt, maar de Heilige Geest. 12En de ene broeder zal den anderen overleveren tot den dood, en de vader het kind; en de kinderen zullen opstaan tegen de ouders, en zullen hen doden. 13En gij zult gehaat worden van allen, om Mijns Naams wil; maar wie volharden zal tot het einde, die zal zalig worden. 14Wanneer gij dan zult zien den gruwel der verwoesting, waarvan door den profeet Daniel gesproken is, staande waar het niet behoort, (die het leest, die merke daarop!) alsdan, die in Judea zijn, dat zij vlieden op de bergen. 15En die op het dak is, kome niet af in het huis, en ga niet in, om iets uit zijn huis weg te nemen. 16En die op den akker is, kere niet weder terug, om zijn kleed te nemen. 17Maar wee den bevruchten en den zogenden vrouwen in die dagen! 18Doch bidt, dat uw vlucht niet geschiede des winters. 19Want die dagen zullen zulke verdrukking zijn, welker gelijke niet geweest is van het begin der schepselen, die God geschapen heeft, tot nu toe, en ook niet zijn zal. 20En indien de Heere de dagen niet verkort had, geen vlees zou behouden worden; maar om der uitverkorenen wil, die Hij heeft uitverkoren, heeft Hij de dagen verkort. 21En alsdan, zo iemand tot ulieden zal zeggen: Ziet, hier is de Christus; of ziet, Hij is daar; gelooft het niet. 22Want er zullen valse christussen, en valse profeten opstaan, en zullen tekenen en wonderen doen, om te verleiden, indien het mogelijk ware, ook de uitverkorenen. 23Maar gijlieden ziet toe; ziet, Ik heb u alles voorzegd! 24Maar in die dagen, na die verdrukking, zal de zon verduisterd worden, en de maan zal haar schijnsel niet geven. 25En de sterren des hemels zulen daaruit vallen, en de krachten, die in de hemelen zijn, zullen bewogen worden. 26En alsdan zullen zij den Zoon des mensen zien, komende in de wolken, met grote kracht en heerlijkheid. 27En alsdan zal Hij Zijn engelen uitzenden, en zal Zijn uitverkorenen bijeenvergaderen uit de vier winden, van het uiterste der aarde, tot het uiterste des hemels. 28En leert van den vijgeboom deze gelijkenis; wanneer nu zijn tak teder wordt, en de bladeren uitspruiten, zo weet gij, dat de zomer nabij is. 29Alzo ook gij, wanneer gij deze dingen zult zien geschieden, zo weet, dat het nabij, voor de deur is. 30Voorwaar, Ik zeg u, dat dit geslacht niet zal voorbijgaan, totdat al deze dingen zullen geschied zijn. 31De hemel en de aarde zullen voorbijgaan; maar Mijn woorden zullen geenszins voorbijgaan. 32Maar van dien dag en die ure weet niemand, noch de engelen, die in de hemel zijn, noch de Zoon, dan de Vader. 33Ziet toe, waakt en bidt; want gij weet niet, wanneer de tijd is. 34Gelijk een mens, buitenslands reizende, zijn huis verliet, en zijn dienstknechten macht gaf, en elk zijn werk, en den deurwachter gebood, dat hij zou waken; 35Zo waakt dan (want gij weet niet, wanneer de heer des huizes komen zal, des avonds laat, of ter middernacht, of met het hanengekraai, of in den morgenstond); 36Opdat hij niet onvoorziens kome, en u slapende vinde. 37En hetgeen Ik u zeg, dat zeg Ik allen: Waakt.
