1 Ti-mô-thê 2

1Vậy, trước hết mọi sự ta dặn rằng, phải khẩn nguyện, cầu xin, kêu van, tạ ơn cho mọi người, 2cho các vua, cho hết thảy các bậc cầm quyền, để chúng ta được lấy điều nhơn đức và thành thật mà ở đời cho bình tịnh yên ổn. 3Ấy là một sự lành và đẹp mắt Ðức Chúa Trời, là Cứu Chúa chúng ta, 4Ngài muốn cho mọi người được cứu rỗi và hiểu biết lẽ thật. 5Vì chỉ có một Ðức Chúa Trời, và chỉ có một Ðấng Trung bảo ở giữa Ðức Chúa Trời và loài người, tức là Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, là người; 6Ngài đã phó chính mình Ngài làm giá chuộc mọi người. Ấy là lời chứng đã làm đúng kỳ 7(ta nói thật, không nói dối), vì lời chứng ấy, ta đã được cử làm thầy giảng, là sứ đồ và giáo sư cho dân ngoại, để dạy họ về đức tin và về lẽ thật. 8Vậy, ta muốn những người đờn ông đều giơ tay tinh sạch lên trời, mà cầu nguyện khắp mọi nơi, chớ có giận dữ và cãi cọ. 9Ta cũng muốn rằng những người đờn bà ăn mặc một cách gọn ghẽ, lấy nết na và đức hạnh giồi mình, không dùng những tóc gióc, vàng, châu ngọc và áo quần quí giá, 10nhưng dùng việc lành, theo lẽ đương nhiên của người đờn bà tin kính Chúa. 11Ðờn bà phải yên lặng mà nghe dạy, lại phải vâng phục mọi đàng. 12Ta không cho phép đờn bà dạy dỗ, cũng không được cầm quyền trên đờn ông; nhưng phải ở yên lặng. 13Vì A-đam được dựng nên trước nhứt, rồi mới tới Ê-va. 14Lại không phải A-đam bị dỗ dành mà sa vào tội lỗi. 15Dầu vậy, nếu đờn bà lấy đức hạnh mà bền đỗ trong đức tin, trong sự yêu thương, và trong sự nên thánh, thì sẽ nhơn đẻ con mà được cứu rỗi.

1I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: 2for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; 4who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times; 7to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth in Christ, not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting. 9In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing; 10but (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works. 11Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection. 12But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness. 13For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience; 15but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.

1Ik vermaan dan voor alle dingen, dat gedaan worden smekingen, gebeden, voorbiddingen, dankzeggingen, voor alle mensen; 2Voor koningen, en allen, die in hoogheid zijn; opdat wij een gerust en stil leven leiden mogen in alle godzaligheid en eerbaarheid. 3Want dat is goed en aangenaam voor God, onzen Zaligmaker; 4Welke wil, dat alle mensen zalig worden, en tot kennis der waarheid komen. 5Want er is een God, er is ook een Middelaar Gods en der mensen, de Mens Christus Jezus; 6Die Zichzelven gegeven heeft tot een rantsoen voor allen, zijnde de getuigenis te zijner tijd; 7Waartoe ik gesteld ben een prediker en apostel (ik zeg de waarheid in Christus, ik lieg niet), een leraar der heidenen, in geloof en waarheid. 8Ik wil dan, dat de mannen bidden in alle plaatsen, opheffende heilige handen, zonder toorn en twisting. 9Desgelijks ook, dat de vrouwen, in een eerbaar gewaad, met schaamte en matigheid zichzelven versieren, niet in vlechtingen des haars, of goud, of paarlen, of kostelijke kleding; 10Maar (hetwelk de vrouwen betaamt, die de godvruchtigheid belijden) door goede werken. 11Een vrouw late zich leren in stilheid, in alle onderdanigheid. 12Doch ik laat de vrouw niet toe, dat zij lere, noch over den man heerse, maar wil, dat zij in stilheid zij. 13Want Adam is eerst gemaakt, daarna Eva. 14En Adam is niet verleid geworden; maar de vrouw, verleid zijnde, is in overtreding geweest. 15Doch zij zal zalig worden in kinderen te baren, zo zij blijft in het geloof, en liefde, en heiligmaking, met matigheid.
