1Kemudian, TUHAN berfirman kepada Musa, “Pergilah kepada Firaun dan katakan kepadanya, ‘Inilah firman TUHAN, Allah orang Ibrani: Biarkanlah umat-Ku pergi supaya mereka dapat melayani Aku. 2Sebab, jika engkau menolak untuk membiarkan mereka pergi dan terus-menerus menahan mereka, 3lihatlah, tangan TUHAN akan datang dengan wabah penyakit yang sangat berat atas ternakmu di ladang, atas kuda, atas keledai, atas unta, atas kawanan sapi, dan atas kawanan domba. 4Namun, TUHAN akan membedakan ternak orang Israel dengan ternak orang Mesir sehingga tidak ada yang akan mati dari milik keturunan Israel. 5TUHAN telah menetapkan satu waktu, kata-Nya: Besok, TUHAN akan melaksanakannya di negeri ini.’” 6Keesokan harinya, TUHAN melaksanakan hal tersebut dan semua ternak orang Mesir pun mati, tetapi tidak ada satu pun ternak keturunan Israel yang mati. 7Firaun mengutus orang, dan lihatlah, tidak ada satu pun ternak orang Israel yang mati. Namun, hati Firaun dikeraskan dan dia tidak membiarkan bangsa itu pergi. 8TUHAN berkata kepada Musa dan Harun, “Ambillah bagimu segenggam abu dari tungku dan biarkanlah Musa menghamburkannya ke udara di depan mata Firaun. 9Itu akan menjadi debu halus di seluruh tanah Mesir dan akan menjadi bisul yang pecah bernanah pada manusia dan binatang di seluruh tanah Mesir.” 10Lalu, mereka mengambil abu dari tungku dan berdiri di hadapan Firaun. Lalu, katakan kepadanya, ‘Inilah firman TUHAN, Allah orang Ibrani: Biarkan umat-Ku pergi supaya mereka dapat melayani Aku! 14Sebab, kali ini Aku akan mengirimkan segala malapetaka-Ku atas dirimu, atas hamba-hambamu, dan atas rakyatmu supaya kamu tahu bahwa tidak ada satu pun yang seperti Aku di seluruh bumi. 15Sekarang pun Aku dapat mengulurkan tangan-Ku untuk memukul kamu dan rakyatmu dengan wabah penyakit, dan kamu akan dilenyapkan dari bumi. 16Namun, sesungguhnya, untuk alasan ini Aku masih membiarkanmu berdiri, yaitu untuk mempertunjukkan kuasa-Ku kepadamu dan untuk memasyhurkan nama-Ku di seluruh bumi! 17Meskipun demikian, kamu masih saja meninggikan diri terhadap umat-Ku dan tidak membiarkan mereka pergi. 18Lihat, besok, kira-kira pada waktu seperti ini, Aku akan menurunkan hujan es yang sangat dahsyat, yang belum pernah terjadi di Mesir, sejak didirikan sampai sekarang.’ 19Sebab itu, sekarang, amankanlah ternakmu dan segala yang kamu miliki di ladang. Setiap orang dan binatang yang ada di padang dan tidak dibawa ke rumah akan mati ketika hujan es menghujani mereka.” 20Beberapa orang dari antara hamba Firaun yang takut akan firman TUHAN melarikan para budaknya dan ternaknya ke dalam rumah. 21Namun, orang yang tidak mengacuhkan firman TUHAN meninggalkan para budaknya dan ternaknya di padang. 22Kemudian, TUHAN berkata kepada Musa, “Acungkan tanganmu ke langit sehingga hujan es turun di seluruh tanah Mesir, atas manusia dan atas binatang, dan atas segala tumbuhan di padang, di tanah Mesir.” 23Setelah itu, Musa mengacungkan tangannya ke langit dan TUHAN mengirim guntur, dan hujan es, dan api yang menyambar sampai ke bumi. Demikianlah, TUHAN menghujani tanah Mesir dengan hujan es. 24Hujan es turun dan api terus-menerus menyambar di tengah-tengah hujan es itu, sangat dahsyat. Yang seperti itu belum pernah terjadi di seluruh tanah Mesir sejak Mesir menjadi suatu bangsa. 25Hujan es itu menghantam seluruh tanah Mesir, segala sesuatu yang ada di ladang, baik manusia maupun binatang. Hujan es juga menghantam segala tanaman di ladang dan menghancurkan setiap pohon di ladang. 26Hanya di tanah Gosyen, tempat tinggal keturunan Israel, yang tidak ditimpa oleh hujan es. 27Firaun menyuruh orang untuk memanggil Musa dan Harun, lalu berkata kepada mereka, “Kali ini, aku telah berdosa. TUHAN-lah yang benar. Aku dan rakyatku yang salah. 28Berdoalah kepada TUHAN sebab ini sudah cukup! Jangan lagi ada guntur Allah dan hujan es ini. Setelah itu, Aku akan membiarkan kalian pergi dan kalian tidak usah tinggal di sini lagi.” 29Musa berkata kepadanya, “Segera setelah aku keluar dari kota ini, aku akan menadahkan telapak tanganku kepada TUHAN, dan guntur akan berhenti serta tidak akan ada lagi hujan es supaya kamu akan mengetahui bahwa bumi ini adalah milik TUHAN. 30Namun, aku tahu bahwa kamu dan para hambamu belum juga takut kepada TUHAN Allah.” 31Benih rami dan jelai telah dihancurkan sebab jelai baru bertunas dan benih rami sedang mekar. 32Akan tetapi, gandum dan jawawut belum tiba musimnya, jadi tumbuhan-tumbuhan ini tidak dihancurkan. 33Musa keluar dari kota itu, dari Firaun, dan menadahkan telapak tangannya kepada TUHAN, maka guntur dan hujan es itu berhenti, dan hujan tidak lagi tercurah ke bumi. 34Ketika Firaun melihat bahwa hujan, hujan es, dan guntur telah berhenti, dia berdosa lagi. Dia dan para hambanya kembali mengeraskan hati mereka. 35Hati Firaun tetap keras dan dia tidak membiarkan keturunan Israel untuk pergi, sebagaimana yang telah difirmankan TUHAN melalui Musa.
1Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 2For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still, 3behold, the hand of Yahweh is on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence. 4Yahweh will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’” 5Yahweh appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow Yahweh shall do this thing in the land.” 6Yahweh did that thing on the next day; and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died. 7Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the livestock of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he didn’t let the people go. 8Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh. 9It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt.” 10They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal. 11The magicians couldn’t stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Egyptians. 12Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken to Moses. 13Yahweh said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 14For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. 15For now I would have stretched out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; 16but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth; 17as you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won’t let them go. 18Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now. 19Now therefore command that all of your livestock and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. Every man and animal that is found in the field, and isn’t brought home, the hail shall come down on them, and they shall die.”’” 20Those who feared Yahweh’s word among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses. 21Whoever didn’t respect Yahweh’s word left his servants and his livestock in the field. 22Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.” 23Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt. 24So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field. 26Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail. 27Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. 28Pray to Yahweh; for there has been enough of mighty thunderings and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” 29Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands to Yahweh. The thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is Yahweh’s. 30But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.” 31The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom. 32But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up. 33Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands to Yahweh; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth. 34When Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. 35The heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go, just as Yahweh had spoken through Moses.
1Daarna zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Ga in tot Farao, en spreek tot hem: Alzo zegt de HEERE, de God der Hebreen: Laat Mijn volk trekken, dat het Mij diene. 2Want zo gij hen weigert te laten trekken, en gij hen nog met geweld ophoudt, 3Zie, de hand des HEEREN zal zijn over uw vee, dat in het veld is, over de paarden, over de ezelen, over de kemelen, over de runderen, en over het klein vee, door een zeer zware pestilentie. 4En de HEERE zal een afzondering maken tussen het vee der Israelieten, en tussen het vee der Egyptenaren, dat er niets sterve van al wat van de kinderen Israels is. 5En de HEERE bestemde een zekeren tijd, zeggende: Morgen zal de HEERE deze zaak in dit land doen. 6En de HEERE deed deze zaak des anderen daags; en al het vee der Egyptenaren stierf; maar van het vee der kinderen Israels stierf niet een. 7En Farao zond er heen, en ziet, van het vee van Israel was niet tot een toe gestorven. Doch het hart van Farao werd verzwaard, en hij liet het volk niet trekken. 8Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes en tot Aaron: Neemt gijlieden uw vuisten vol as uit den oven; en Mozes strooie die naar de hemel voor de ogen van Farao. 9En zij zal tot klein stof worden over het ganse Egypteland; en zij zal aan de mensen, en aan het vee worden tot zweren, uitbrekende met blaren, in het ganse Egypteland. 10En zij namen as uit den oven, en stonden voor Farao's aangezicht; en Mozes strooide die naar den hemel; toen werden er zweren, uitbrekende met blaren, aan de mensen en aan het vee; 11Alzo dat de tovenaars voor Mozes niet staan konden, vanwege de zweren; want aan de tovenaars waren zweren, en aan al de Egyptenaren. 12Doch de HEERE verstokte Farao's hart, dat hij naar hen niet hoorde, gelijk de HEERE tot Mozes gesproken had. 13Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Maak u morgen vroeg op, en stel u voor Farao's aangezicht, en zeg tot hem: Zo zegt de HEERE, de God der Hebreen: Laat Mijn volk trekken, dat zij Mij dienen. 14Want ditmaal zal Ik al Mijn plagen in uw hart zenden, en over uw knechten, en over uw volk, opdat gij weet, dat er niemand is gelijk Ik, op de ganse aarde. 15Want nu heb Ik Mijn hand uitgestrekt, opdat Ik u en uw volk met de pestilentie zou slaan, en dat gij van de aarde zoudt verdelgd worden. 16Maar waarlijk, daarom heb Ik u verwekt, opdat Ik Mijn kracht aan u betoonde, en opdat men Mijn Naam vertelle op de ganse aarde. 17Verheft gij uzelven nog tegen Mijn volk, dat gij het niet wilt laten trekken? 18Zie, Ik zal morgen omtrent dezen tijd een zeer zware hagel doen regenen, desgelijks in Egypte niet geweest is van dien dag af, dat het gegrond is, tot nu toe. 19En nu, zend heen, vergader uw vee, en alles wat gij op het veld hebt; alle mens en gedierte, dat op het veld gevonden zal worden, en niet in huis verzameld zal zijn, als deze hagel op hen vallen zal, zo zullen zij sterven. 20Wie onder Farao's knechten des HEEREN woord vreesde, die deed zijn knechten en zijn vee in de huizen vlieden; 21Doch die zijn hart niet zette tot des HEEREN woord, die liet zijn knechten en zijn vee op het veld. 22Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Strek uw hand uit naar den hemel, en er zal hagel zijn in het ganse Egypteland; over de mensen, en over het vee, en over al het kruid des velds in Egypteland. 23Toen strekte Mozes zijn staf naar den hemel; en de HEERE gaf donder en hagel, en het vuur schoot naar de aarde; en de HEERE liet hagel regenen over Egypteland. 24En er was hagel, en vuur in het midden des hagels vervangen; hij was zeer zwaar; desgelijks is in het ganse Egypteland nooit geweest, sedert het tot een volk geweest is. 25En de hagel sloeg, in het ganse Egypteland, alles wat op het veld was, van de mensen af tot de beesten toe; ook sloeg de hagel al het kruid des velds, en verbrak al het geboomte des velds. 26Alleen in het land Gosen, waar de kinderen Israels waren, daar was geen hagel. 27Toen schikte Farao heen, en hij riep Mozes en Aaron, en zeide tot hen: Ik heb mij ditmaal verzondigd; de HEERE is rechtvaardig; ik daarentegen en mijn volk zijn goddelozen! 28Bidt vuriglijk tot den HEERE (want het is genoeg), dat geen donder Gods noch hagel meer zij; dan zal ik ulieden trekken laten, en gij zult niet langer blijven. 29Toen zeide Mozes tot hem: Wanneer ik ter stad uitgegaan zal zijn, zo zal ik mijn handen uitbreiden voor den HEERE; de donder zal ophouden, en de hagel zal niet meer zijn; opdat gij weet, dat de aarde des HEEREN is! 30Nochtans u en uw knechten aangaande, weet ik, dat gijlieden voor het aangezicht van den HEERE God nog niet vrezen zult. 31Het vlas nu, en de gerst werd geslagen; want de gerst was in de aar, en het vlas was in den halm. 32Maar de tarwe en de spelt werden niet geslagen; want zij waren bedekt. 33Zo ging Mozes van Farao ter stad uit, en breidde zijn handen tot den HEERE; de donder en de hagel hielden op, en de regen werd niet meer uitgegoten op de aarde. 34Toen Farao zag, dat de regen en hagel, en de donder ophielden, zo verzondigde hij zich verder, en hij verzwaarde zijn hart, hij en zijn knechten. 35Alzo werd Farao's hart verstokt, dat hij de kinderen Israels niet trekken liet, gelijk als de HEERE gesproken had door Mozes.
