1Kaj vidinte la homamasojn, li supreniris sur la monton, kaj kiam li sidiĝis, liaj disĉiploj venis al li; 2kaj malferminte la buŝon, li instruis ilin, dirante: 3Feliĉaj estas la malriĉaj en spirito, ĉar ilia estas la regno de la ĉielo. 4Feliĉaj estas la plorantaj, ĉar ili konsoliĝos. 5Feliĉaj estas la humilaj, ĉar ili heredos la teron. 6Feliĉaj estas tiuj, kiuj malsatas kaj soifas justecon, ĉar ili satiĝos. 7Feliĉaj estas la kompatemaj, ĉar ili ricevos kompaton. 8Feliĉaj estas la kore puraj, ĉar ili vidos Dion. 9Feliĉaj estas la pacigantoj, ĉar filoj de Dio ili estos nomataj. 10Feliĉaj estas tiuj, kiuj estas persekutitaj pro justeco, ĉar ilia estas la regno de la ĉielo. 11Feliĉaj estas vi, kiam oni vin riproĉos kaj persekutos kaj false vin kalumnios pro mi. 12Ĝoju kaj raviĝu, ĉar via rekompenco estos granda en la ĉielo; ĉar tiel oni persekutis la profetojn, kiuj estis antaŭ vi. 13Vi estas la salo de la tero; sed se la salo sengustiĝis, per kio ĝi estos salita? ĝi jam taŭgas por nenio, krom por esti elĵetita kaj piedpremita de homoj. 14Vi estas la lumo de la mondo. Urbo starigita sur monto ne povas esti kaŝita. 15Kiam oni bruligas lampon, oni metas ĝin ne sub grenmezurilon, sed sur la lampingon; kaj ĝi lumas sur ĉiujn, kiuj estas en la domo. 16Tiel same via lumo lumu antaŭ homoj, por ke ili vidu viajn bonajn farojn, kaj gloru vian Patron, kiu estas en la ĉielo. 17Ne pensu, ke mi venis, por detrui la leĝon aŭ la profetojn; mi venis, ne por detrui, sed por plenumi. 18Vere mi diras al vi: Ĝis la ĉielo kaj la tero forpasos, nek unu joto nek unu streketo forpasos de la leĝo, ĝis ĉio plenumiĝos. 19Tial, kiu malobservos unu el ĉi tiuj plej malgrandaj ordonoj kaj tiel instruos homojn, tiu estos nomata la plej malgranda en la regno de la ĉielo; sed kiu faros ilin kaj instruos, tiu estos nomata granda en la regno de la ĉielo. 20Ĉar mi diras al vi, ke se via justeco ne superos la justecon de la skribistoj kaj la Fariseoj, vi tute ne eniros en la regnon de la ĉielo. 21Vi aŭdis, ke estas dirite al la antikvuloj: Ne mortigu, kaj kiu mortigos, tiu estos en danĝero de juĝado; 22sed mi diras al vi, ke kiu koleras kontraŭ sia frato, tiu estos en danĝero de juĝado; kaj kiu diros al sia frato: Raka, tiu estos en danĝero de la sinedrio; kaj kiu diros: Malsaĝulo, tiu estos en danĝero de Gehena de fajro. 23Tial, se vi prezentas vian oferon ĉe la altaro, kaj tie memoras, ke via frato havas ion kontraŭ vi, 24lasu tie vian oferon antaŭ la altaro, kaj foriru, unue paciĝu kun via frato, kaj poste venu kaj prezentu vian oferon. 25Konsentu rapide kun via kontraŭulo, dum vi estas kun li sur la vojo, por ke la kontraŭulo ne transdonu vin al la juĝisto, kaj la juĝisto al la subulo, kaj por ke vi ne estu ĵetita en malliberejon. 26Vere mi diras al vi, ke vi neniel eliros el tie, ĝis vi pagos la lastan kodranton. 27Vi aŭdis, ke estas dirite: Ne adultu; 28sed mi diras al vi, ke ĉiu, kiu rigardas virinon, por deziri ŝin, jam adultis je ŝi en sia koro. 29Kaj se via dekstra okulo faligas vin, elŝiru kaj forĵetu ĝin; ĉar estus pli bone por vi, se unu el viaj membroj pereus, ol se via tuta korpo estus ĵetita en Gehenan. 30Kaj se via dekstra mano faligas vin, detranĉu kaj forĵetu ĝin; ĉar estus pli bone por vi, se unu el viaj membroj pereus, ol se via tuta korpo irus en Gehenan. 31Estas ankaŭ dirite: Kiu forsendos sian edzinon, tiu donu al ŝi eksedzigan leteron; 32sed mi diras al vi, ke ĉiu, kiu forsendas sian edzinon, krom pro malĉasteco, igas ŝin adulti; kaj kiu edziĝos kun forsenditino, tiu adultas. 33Plue, vi aŭdis, ke estas dirite al la antikvuloj: Ne rompu ĵurojn, sed plenumu viajn ĵurojn antaŭ la Eternulo; 34sed mi diras al vi: Tute ne ĵuru; nek per la ĉielo, ĉar ĝi estas la trono de Dio; 35nek per la tero, ĉar ĝi estas la benketo de Liaj piedoj; nek per Jerusalem, ĉar ĝi estas urbo de la granda Reĝo. 36Nek ĵuru per via kapo, ĉar vi ne povas fari eĉ unu haron blanka aŭ nigra. 37Sed via parolo estu: Jes, jes, ne, ne; ĉio ekster tio estas el malbono. 38Vi aŭdis, ke estas dirite: Okulon pro okulo, kaj denton pro dento; 39sed mi diras al vi: Ne rezistu al malbono; sed al tiu, kiu frapas vian dekstran vangon, turnu ankaŭ la alian. 40Kaj se iu deziras procesi kontraŭ vi, por forpreni vian tunikon, lasu lin preni ankaŭ vian mantelon. 41Kaj se iu devigas vin iri unu mejlon, iru kun li du. 42Donu al tiu, kiu petas de vi; kaj ne deturnu vin de tiu, kiu deziras prunti de vi. 43Vi aŭdis, ke estas dirite: Amu vian proksimulon, kaj malamu vian malamikon; 44sed mi diras al vi: Amu viajn malamikojn, kaj preĝu por viaj persekutantoj; 45por ke vi estu filoj de via Patro, kiu estas en la ĉielo; ĉar Li levas Sian sunon sur la malbonulojn kaj bonulojn, kaj sendas pluvon sur la justulojn kaj la maljustulojn. 46Ĉar se vi amas tiujn, kiuj amas vin, kian rekompencon vi havas? ĉu ne tion saman faras eĉ la impostistoj? 47Kaj se vi salutas nur sole viajn fratojn, kion ekstran vi faras? ĉu ne tion saman faras eĉ la nacianoj? 48Estu do perfektaj, kiel ankaŭ via ĉiela Patro estas perfekta.

1Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him. 2He opened his mouth and taught them, saying, 3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. 4Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. 7Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. 10Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. 11“Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you. 13“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men. 14You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. 15Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. 16Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. 17“Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. 18For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letteror one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. 19Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. 21“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.’ 22But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. 23“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, 24leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison. 26Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there, until you have paid the last penny. 27“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’ 28but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. 30If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. 31“It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’ 32but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery. 33“Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’ 34but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God; 35nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black. 37But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one. 38“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. 41Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you. 43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.’ 44But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, 45that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. 46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? 47If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? 48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

1En Jezus, de schare ziende, is geklommen op een berg, en als Hij nedergezeten was, kwamen Zijn discipelen tot Hem. 2En Zijn mond geopend hebbende, leerde Hij hen, zeggende: 3Zalig zijn de armen van geest; want hunner is het Koninkrijk der hemelen. 4Zalig zijn die treuren; want zij zullen vertroost worden. 5Zalig zijn de zachtmoedigen; want zij zullen het aardrijk beerven. 6Zalig zijn die hongeren en dorsten naar de gerechtigheid; want zij zullen verzadigd worden. 7Zalig zijn de barmhartigen; want hun zal barmhartigheid geschieden. 8Zalig zijn de reinen van hart; want zij zullen God zien. 9Zalig zijn de vreedzamen; want zij zullen Gods kinderen genaamd worden. 10Zalig zijn die vervolgd worden om der gerechtigheid wil; want hunner is het Koninkrijk der hemelen. 11Zalig zijt gij, als u de mensen smaden, en vervolgen, en liegende alle kwaad tegen u spreken, om Mijnentwil. 12Verblijdt en verheugt u; want uw loon is groot in de hemelen; want alzo hebben zij vervolgd de profeten, die voor u geweest zijn. 13Gij zijt het zout der aarde; indien nu het zout smakeloos wordt, waarmede zal het gezouten worden? Het deugt nergens meer toe, dan om buiten geworpen, en van de mensen vertreden te worden. 14Gij zijt het licht der wereld; een stad boven op een berg liggende, kan niet verborgen zijn. 15Noch steekt men een kaars aan, en zet die onder een koornmaat, maar op een kandelaar, en zij schijnt allen, die in het huis zijn; 16Laat uw licht alzo schijnen voor de mensen, dat zij uw goede werken mogen zien, en uw Vader, Die in de hemelen is, verheerlijken. 17Meent niet, dat Ik gekomen ben, om de wet of de profeten te ontbinden; Ik ben niet gekomen, om die te ontbinden, maar te vervullen. 18Want voorwaar zeg Ik u: Totdat de hemel en de aarde voorbijgaan, zal er niet een jota noch een tittel van de wet voorbijgaan, totdat het alles zal zijn geschied. 19Zo wie dan een van deze minste geboden zal ontbonden, en de mensen alzo zal geleerd hebben, die zal de minste genaamd worden in het Koninkrijk der hemelen; maar zo wie dezelve zal gedaan en geleerd hebben, die zal groot genaamd worden in het Koninkrijk der hemelen. 20Want Ik zeg u: Tenzij uw gerechtigheid overvloediger zij, dan der Schriftgeleerden en der Farizeen, dat gij in het Koninkrijk der hemelen geenszins zult ingaan. 21Gij hebt gehoord, dat tot de ouden gezegd is: Gij zult niet doden; maar zo wie doodt, die zal strafbaar zijn door het gericht. 22Doch Ik zeg u: Zo wie te onrecht op zijn broeder toornig is, die zal strafbaar zijn door het gericht; en wie tot zijn broeder zegt: Raka! die zal strafbaar zijn door den groten raad; maar wie zegt: Gij dwaas! die zal strafbaar zijn door het helse vuur. 23Zo gij dan uw gave zult op het altaar offeren, en aldaar gedachtig wordt, dat uw broeder iets tegen u heeft; 24Laat daar uw gave voor het altaar, en gaat heen, verzoent u eerst met uw broeder, en komt dan en offert uw gave. 25Weest haastelijk welgezind jegens uw wederpartij, terwijl gij nog met hem op den weg zijt; opdat de wederpartij niet misschien u den rechter overlevere, en de rechter u den dienaar overlevere, en gij in de gevangenis geworpen wordt. 26Voorwaar, Ik zeg u: Gij zult daar geenszins uitkomen, totdat gij den laatsten penning zult betaald hebben. 27Gij hebt gehoord, dat van de ouden gezegd is: Gij zult geen overspel doen. 28Maar Ik zeg u, dat zo wie een vrouw aan ziet, om dezelve te begeren, die heeft alrede overspel in zijn hart met haar gedaan. 29Indien dan uw rechteroog u ergert, trekt het uit, en werpt het van u; want het is u nut, dat een uwer leden verga, en niet uw gehele lichaam in de hel geworpen worde. 30En indien uw rechterhand u ergert, houwt ze af, en werpt ze van u; want het is u nut, dat een uwer leden verga, en niet uw gehele lichaam in de hel geworpen worde. 31Er is ook gezegd: Zo wie zijn vrouw verlaten zal, die geve haar een scheidbrief. 32Maar Ik zeg u, dat zo wie zijn vrouw verlaten zal, anders dan uit oorzaak van hoererij, die maakt, dat zij overspel doet; en zo wie de verlatene zal trouwen, die doet overspel. 33Wederom hebt gij gehoord, dat van de ouden gezegd is: Gij zult den eed niet breken, maar gij zult den Heere uw eden houden. 34Maar Ik zeg u: Zweert ganselijk niet, noch bij den hemel, omdat hij is de troon Gods; 35Noch bij de aarde, omdat zij is de voetbank Zijner voeten; noch bij Jeruzalem, omdat zij is de stad des groten Konings; 36Noch bij uw hoofd zult gij zweren, omdat gij niet een haar kunt wit of zwart maken; 37Maar laat zijn uw woord ja, ja; neen, neen; wat boven deze is, dat is uit den boze. 38Gij hebt gehoord, dat gezegd is: Oog om oog, en tand om tand. 39Maar Ik zeg u, dat gij den boze niet wederstaat; maar, zo wie u op de rechterwang slaat, keert hem ook de andere toe; 40En zo iemand met u rechten wil, en uw rok nemen, laat hem ook den mantel; 41En zo wie u zal dwingen een mijl te gaan, gaat met hem twee mijlen. 42Geeft dengene, die iets van u bidt, en keert u niet af van dengene, die van u lenen wil. 43Gij hebt gehoord, dat er gezegd is: Gij zult uw naaste liefhebben, en uw vijand zult gij haten. 44Maar Ik zeg u: Hebt uw vijanden lief; zegent ze, die u vervloeken; doet wel dengenen, die u haten; en bidt voor degenen, die u geweld doen, en die u vervolgen; 45Opdat gij moogt kinderen zijn uws Vaders, Die in de hemelen is; want Hij doet Zijn zon opgaan over bozen en goeden, en regent over rechtvaardigen en onrechtvaardigen. 46Want indien gij liefhebt, die u liefhebben, wat loon hebt gij? Doen ook de tollenaars niet hetzelfde? 47En indien gij uw broeders alleen groet, wat doet gij boven anderen? Doen ook niet de tollenaars alzo? 48Weest dan gijlieden volmaakt, gelijk uw Vader, Die in de hemelen is, volmaakt is.
