1Tiam parolis Jesuo al la homamasoj kaj al siaj disĉiploj, dirante: 2La skribistoj kaj la Fariseoj sidas sur la seĝo de Moseo: 3ĉion do, kion ili ordonas al vi, faru kaj observu; sed ne agu laŭ iliaj faroj, ĉar ili ordonas, sed ne faras. 4Ili ligas pezajn ŝarĝojn malfacile porteblajn, kaj metas ilin sur la ŝultrojn de homoj; sed ili mem ne volas movi ilin per sia fingro. 5Sed ĉiujn siajn agojn ili faras, por esti rigardataj de homoj; ĉar ili larĝigas siajn filakteriojn kaj grandigas la franĝojn de siaj vestoj, 6kaj amas la ĉeflokojn ĉe festenoj, kaj la ĉefseĝojn en la sinagogoj, 7kaj salutojn sur la placoj, kaj esti nomataj de homoj Rabeno. 8Sed vi ne estu nomataj Rabeno; ĉar unu estas via instruanto, kaj vi ĉiuj estas fratoj. 9Kaj nomu neniun sur la tero via patro; ĉar Unu, kiu estas en la ĉielo, estas via Patro. 10Kaj ne estu nomataj edukantoj; ĉar unu, la Kristo, estas via edukanto. 11Sed la pli granda el vi estos via servanto. 12Kaj kiu sin plialtigos, tiu estos humiligita; kaj kiu sin humiligos, tiu estos plialtigita. 13Sed ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi ŝlosas la regnon de la ĉielo kontraŭ la homoj; ĉar vi mem ne eniras, nek lasas al la enirantoj eniri. 14Ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi formanĝas domojn de vidvinoj, kaj por preteksto vi longe preĝas; tial vi ricevos pli severan kondamnon. 15Ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi ĉirkaŭiras maron kaj teron, por varbi unu prozeliton; kaj kiam li tia fariĝis, vi lin faras filo de Gehena, duoble kiom vi mem. 16Ve al vi, blindaj gvidantoj! kiuj diras: Se iu ĵuras per la sanktejo, tio estas nenio; sed kiu ĵuras per la oro de la sanktejo, tiu estas ŝuldanto. 17Vi malsaĝaj kaj blindaj! ĉar kio estas pli granda, la oro, aŭ la sanktejo, kiu sanktigas la oron? 18Kaj: Se iu ĵuras per la altaro, tio estas nenio; sed kiu ĵuras per la ofero, kuŝanta sur ĝi, tiu estas ŝuldanto. 19Vi blinduloj! ĉar kio estas pli granda, la ofero, aŭ la altaro, kiu sanktigas la oferon? 20Tiu do, kiu ĵuras per la altaro, ĵuras per ĝi, kaj per ĉio, kuŝanta sur ĝi. 21Kaj tiu, kiu ĵuras per la sanktejo, ĵuras per ĝi, kaj per Tiu, kiu loĝas en ĝi. 22Kaj tiu, kiu ĵuras per la ĉielo, ĵuras per la trono de Dio, kaj per Tiu, kiu sidas sur ĝi. 23Ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi pagas dekonaĵojn de mento kaj de anizo kaj de kumino, kaj forlasis la pli gravajn aferojn de la leĝo: juĝon kaj kompaton kaj fidon. Sed ĉi tiujn vi devus fari, kaj la aliajn ne preterlasi. 24Vi blindaj gvidantoj! kiuj elkribras la kulon kaj glutas la kamelon. 25Ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi purigas la eksteron de la kaliko kaj de la plado; sed interne ili estas plenaj de rabado kaj malmodereco. 26Vi blinda Fariseo! purigu unue la internon de la kaliko kaj de la plado, por ke ilia ekstero ankaŭ fariĝu pura. 27Ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi similas al tomboj blankigitaj, kiuj ekstere ŝajnas belaj, sed interne estas plenaj de ostoj de mortintoj kaj de ĉia malpureco. 28Tiel ankaŭ vi ekstere ŝajnas justaj antaŭ homoj, sed interne vi estas plenaj de hipokriteco kaj maljusteco. 29Ve al vi, skribistoj kaj Fariseoj, hipokrituloj! ĉar vi konstruas la tombojn de la profetoj kaj ornamas la monumentojn de la justuloj, kaj diras: 30Se ni vivus en la tagoj de niaj patroj, ni ne partoprenus kun ili en la sango de la profetoj. 31Tial vi atestas pri vi mem, ke vi estas filoj de tiuj, kiuj mortigis la profetojn. 32Vi do plenigu la mezuron de viaj patroj. 33Serpentoj, vipuridoj! kiel vi povos eviti la juĝon de Gehena? 34Jen do mi sendas al vi profetojn kaj saĝulojn kaj skribistojn; iujn el ili vi mortigos kaj krucumos, kaj aliajn el ili vi skurĝos en viaj sinagogoj kaj persekutos de urbo al urbo; 35por ke venu sur vin la tuta justa sango elverŝita sur la teron, de la sango de la justulo Habel ĝis la sango de Zeĥarja, filo de Bereĥja, kiun vi mortigis inter la sanktejo kaj la altaro. 36Vere mi diras al vi: Ĉio tio venos sur ĉi tiun generacion. 37Ho Jerusalem, Jerusalem, kiu mortigas la profetojn, kaj priĵetas per ŝtonoj tiujn, kiuj estas senditaj al ĝi! kiom ofte mi volis kolekti viajn infanojn, kiel kokino kolektas sian idaron sub la flugilojn, kaj vi ne volis. 38Jen via domo estas lasita al vi dezerta. 39Ĉar mi diras al vi: De nun vi ne vidos min, ĝis vi diros: Estu benata tiu, kiu venas en la nomo de la Eternulo.
1Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples, 2saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sat on Moses’ seat. 3All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do. 4For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them. 5But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad, enlarge the fringesof their garments, 6and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, 7the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men. 8But don’t you be called ‘Rabbi,’ for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers. 9Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven. 10Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ. 11But he who is greatest among you will be your servant. 12Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 13“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. 14“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter. 15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehennaas yourselves. 16“Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’ 17You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’ 19You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it. 21He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was livingin it. 22He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it. 23“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone. 24You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel! 25“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness. 26You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also. 27“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. 28Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous, 30and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’ 31Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets. 32Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna? 34Therefore behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city; 35that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar. 36Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation. 37“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not! 38Behold, your house is left to you desolate. 39For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
1Toen sprak Jezus tot de scharen en tot Zijn discipelen, 2Zeggende: De Schriftgeleerden en de Farizeen zijn gezeten op de stoel van Mozes; 3Daarom, al wat zij u zeggen, dat gij houden zult, houdt dat en doet het; maar doet niet naar hun werken; want zij zeggen het, en doen het niet. 4Want zij binden lasten, die zwaar zijn en kwalijk om te dragen, en leggen ze op de schouderen der mensen; maar zij willen die met hun vinger niet verroeren. 5En al hun werken doen zij, om van de mensen gezien te worden; want zij maken hun gedenkcedels breed, en maken de zomen van hun klederen groot. 6En zij beminnen de vooraanzitting in de maaltijden, en de voorgestoelten in de synagogen; 7Ook de begroetingen op de markten, en van de mensen genaamd te worden: Rabbi, Rabbi! 8Doch gij zult niet Rabbi genaamd worden; want Een is uw Meester, namelijk Christus; en gij zijt allen broeders. 9En gij zult niemand uw vader noemen op de aarde; want Een is uw Vader, namelijk Die in de hemelen is. 10Noch zult gij meesters genoemd worden; want Een is uw Meester, namelijk Christus. 11Maar de meeste van u zal uw dienaar zijn. 12En wie zichzelven verhogen zal, die zal vernederd worden; en wie zichzelven zal vernederen, die zal verhoogd worden. 13Maar wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden! want gij sluit het Koninkrijk der hemelen voor de mensen, overmits gij daar niet ingaat, noch degenen, die ingaan zouden, laat ingaan. 14Wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden, want gij eet de huizen der weduwen op, en dat onder den schijn van lang te bidden; daarom zult gij te zwaarder oordeel ontvangen. 15Wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden, want gij omreist zee en land, om een Jodengenoot te maken, en als hij het geworden is, zo maakt gij hem een kind der helle, tweemaal meer dan gij zijt. 16Wee u, gij blinde leidslieden, die zegt: Zo wie gezworen zal hebben bij den tempel, dat is niets; maar zo wie gezworen zal hebben bij het goud des tempels, die is schuldig. 17Gij dwazen en blinden, want wat is meerder, het goud, of de tempel, die het goud heiligt? 18En zo wie gezworen zal hebben bij het altaar, dat is niets; maar zo wie gezworen zal hebben bij de gave, die daarop is, die is schuldig. 19Gij dwazen en blinden, want wat is meerder, de gave, of het altaar, dat de gave heiligt? 20Daarom wie zweert bij het altaar, die zweert bij hetzelve, en bij al wat daarop is. 21En wie zweert bij den tempel, die zweert bij denzelven, en bij Dien, Die daarin woont. 22En wie zweert bij den hemel, die zweert bij den troon Gods, en bij Dien, Die daarop zit. 23Wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden, want gij vertient de munte, en de dille, en den komijn, en gij laat na het zwaarste der wet, namelijk het oordeel, en de barmhartigheid, en het geloof. Deze dingen moest men doen, en de andere niet nalaten. 24Gij blinde leidslieden, die de mug uitzijgt, en den kemel doorzwelgt. 25Wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden, want gij reinigt het buitenste des drinkbekers, en des schotels, maar van binnen zijn zij vol van roof en onmatigheid. 26Gij blinde Farizeer, reinig eerst wat binnen in den drinkbeker en den schotel is, opdat ook het buitenste derzelve rein worde. 27Wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden, want gij zijt den witgepleisterden graven gelijk, die van buiten wel schoon schijnen, maar van binnen zijn zij vol doodsbeenderen en alle onreinigheid. 28Alzo ook schijnt gij wel den mensen van buiten rechtvaardig, maar van binnen zijt gij vol geveinsdheid en ongerechtigheid. 29Wee u, gij Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, gij geveinsden, want gij bouwt de graven der profeten op, en versiert de graftekenen der rechtvaardigen; 30En zegt: Indien wij in de tijden onzer vaderen waren geweest, wij zouden met hen geen gemeenschap gehad hebben aan het bloed der profeten. 31Aldus getuigt gij tegen uzelven, dat gij kinderen zijt dergenen, die de profeten gedood hebben. 32Gij dan ook, vervult de mate uwer vaderen! 33Gij slangen, gij adderengebroedsels! hoe zoudt gij de helse verdoemenis ontvlieden? 34Daarom ziet, Ik zend tot u profeten, en wijzen, en schriftgeleerden, en uit dezelve zult gij sommigen doden en kruisigen, en sommigen uit dezelve zult gij geselen in uw synagogen, en zult hen vervolgen van stad tot stad; 35Opdat op u kome al het rechtvaardige bloed, dat vergoten is op de aarde, van het bloed des rechtvaardigen Abels af, tot op het bloed van Zacharia, den zoon van Barachia, welken gij gedood hebt tussen den tempel en het altaar. 36Voorwaar zeg Ik u: Al deze dingen zullen komen over dit geslacht. 37Jeruzalem, Jeruzalem! gij, die de profeten doodt, en stenigt, die tot u gezonden zijn! hoe menigmaal heb Ik uw kinderen willen bijeenvergaderen, gelijkerwijs een hen haar kiekens bijeenvergadert onder de vleugels; en gijlieden hebt niet gewild. 38Ziet, uw huis wordt u woest gelaten. 39Want Ik zeg u: Gij zult Mij van nu aan niet zien, totdat gij zeggen zult: Gezegend is Hij, Die komt in den Naam des Heeren!
