1Longan tempon post kiam la Eternulo donis al Izrael ripozon kontraŭ ĉiuj iliaj malamikoj ĉirkaŭe, Josuo maljuniĝis, atingis profundan aĝon. 2Tiam Josuo alvokis la tutan Izrael, iliajn plejaĝulojn kaj ĉefojn kaj juĝistojn kaj observistojn, kaj diris al ili: Mi maljuniĝis, mi atingis profundan aĝon. 3Kaj vi vidis ĉion, kion faris la Eternulo, via Dio, al ĉiuj tiuj popoloj antaŭ vi; ĉar la Eternulo, via Dio, mem batalis por vi. 4Vidu, mi dividis por vi lote tiujn restintajn popolojn, kiel posedaĵon por viaj triboj, komencante de Jordan, kaj ĉiujn popolojn, kiujn mi ekstermis, ĝis la Granda Maro, kie subiras la suno. 5Kaj la Eternulo, via Dio, forpuŝos ilin de antaŭ vi kaj forpelos ilin de antaŭ vi; kaj vi ekposedos ilian landon, kiel diris al vi la Eternulo, via Dio. 6Penu do bone, ke vi observu kaj plenumu ĉion, skribitan en la libro de instruo de Moseo, ne forkliniĝante de ĝi dekstren nek maldekstren, 7ne komunikiĝante kun tiuj popoloj, kiuj restis kun vi; kaj la nomon de iliaj dioj ne citu, kaj ne ĵuru per ili, kaj ne servu al ili, kaj ne adoru ilin; 8nur al la Eternulo, via Dio, alfortikiĝu, kiel vi faris ĝis la nuna tago. 9Kaj la Eternulo forpelis de antaŭ vi popolojn grandajn kaj fortajn; kaj neniu rezistis antaŭ vi ĝis la nuna tago. 10Unu el vi forpelas milon; ĉar la Eternulo, via Dio, mem batalas por vi, kiel Li diris al vi. 11Gardu do bone viajn animojn, por ami la Eternulon, vian Dion. 12Ĉar se vi forkliniĝos, kaj aliĝos al tiuj restintaj popoloj, kiuj restis kun vi, kaj vi boparenciĝos kun ili, kaj vi iros al ili kaj ili al vi: 13tiam sciu, ke la Eternulo, via Dio, ne plu forpelos tiujn popolojn de antaŭ vi; kaj ili fariĝos por vi kaptilo kaj reto, kaj vipo por viaj flankoj, kaj pikilo por viaj okuloj, ĝis vi forpereos de sur tiu bona tero, kiun donis al vi la Eternulo, via Dio. 14Nun mi ekiras hodiaŭ la vojon de la tuta mondo; kaj vi sciu per via tuta koro kaj per via tuta animo, ke ne restis neplenumita eĉ unu vorto el ĉiuj bonaj vortoj, kiujn la Eternulo, via Dio, diris pri vi; ĉio plenumiĝis por vi, ne mankis el ĝi eĉ unu vorto. 15Sed kiel plenumiĝis por vi ĉiuj bonaj vortoj, kiujn la Eternulo, via Dio, diris al vi, tiel la Eternulo venigos sur vin ĉion malbonan, ĝis Li ekstermos vin de sur tiu bona tero, kiun donis al vi la Eternulo, via Dio. 16Se vi malobeos la interligon de la Eternulo, via Dio, kiun Li starigis kun vi, kaj vi iros kaj servos al aliaj dioj kaj adoros ilin: tiam ekflamos kontraŭ vin la kolero de la Eternulo, kaj vi forpereos rapide de sur la bona tero, kiun Li donis al vi.

1After many days, when Yahweh had given rest to Israel from their enemies all around, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years, 2Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said to them, “I am old and well advanced in years. 3You have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is Yahweh your God who has fought for you. 4Behold, I have allotted to you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even to the great sea toward the going down of the sun. 5Yahweh your God will thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight. You shall possess their land, as Yahweh your God spoke to you. 6“Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that you not turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left; 7that you not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves to them; 8but hold fast to Yahweh your God, as you have done to this day. 9“For Yahweh has driven great and strong nations out from before you. But as for you, no man has stood before you to this day. 10One man of you shall chase a thousand; for it is Yahweh your God who fights for you, as he spoke to you. 11Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love Yahweh your God. 12“But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you; 13know for a certainty that Yahweh your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you. 14“Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it. 15It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you, 16when you disobey the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then Yahweh’s anger will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.”

1En het geschiedde na vele dagen, nadat de HEERE Israel rust gegeven had van al zijn vijanden rondom heen, en Jozua oud geworden en wel bedaagd was; 2Zo riep Jozua gans Israel, hun oudsten, en hun hoofden, en hun richters, en hun ambtlieden, en hij zeide tot hen: Ik ben oud geworden, en wel bedaagd; 3En gijlieden hebt gezien alles, wat de HEERE, uw God, gedaan heeft aan al deze volken voor uw aangezicht; want de HEERE, uw God, Zelf, is het, Die voor u gestreden heeft. 4Ziet, ik heb u deze overige volken door het lot doen toevallen, ten erfdeel voor uw stammen, van de Jordaan af, met al de volken, die ik uitgeroeid heb, en tot de grote zee, tegen den ondergang der zon. 5En de HEERE, uw God, Zelf zal hen uitstoten voor ulieder aangezicht, en Hij zal hen van voor ulieder aangezicht verdrijven; en gij zult hun land erfelijk bezitten, gelijk als de HEERE, uw God, tot u gesproken heeft. 6Zo weest zeer sterk, om te bewaren en om te doen alles, wat geschreven is in het wetboek van Mozes; opdat gij daarvan niet afwijkt ter rechter hand noch ter linkerhand; 7Dat gij niet ingaat tot deze volken: deze, die overgebleven zijn bij ulieden; gedenkt ook niet aan den naam hunner goden, en doet er niet bij zweren, en dient hen niet, en buigt u voor die niet; 8Maar den HEERE, uw God, zult gij aanhangen, gelijk als gij tot op dezen dag gedaan hebt. 9Want de HEERE heeft van uw aangezicht verdreven grote en machtige volken; en u aangaande, niemand heeft voor uw aangezicht bestaan, tot op dezen dag toe. 10Een enig man onder u zal er duizend jagen; want het is de HEERE, uw God, Zelf, Die voor u strijdt, gelijk al Hij tot u gesproken heeft. 11Daarom bewaart uw zielen naarstiglijk, dat gij den HEERE, uw God, liefhebt. 12Want zo gij enigszins afkeert, en het overige van deze volken aanhangt, van deze, die bij u overgebleven zijn, en u met hen verzwagert, en gij tot hen zult ingaan, en zij tot u; 13Weet voorzeker, dat de HEERE, uw God, niet voortvaren zal deze volken van voor uw aangezicht te verdrijven; maar zij zullen ulieden zijn tot een strik, en tot een net, en tot een gesel aan uw zijden, en tot doornen in uw ogen, totdat gij omkomt van dit goede land, hetwelk u de HEERE, uw God, gegeven heeft. 14En ziet, ik ga heden in den weg der ganse aarde; en gij weet in uw ganse hart en in uw ganse ziel, dat er niet een enig woord gevallen is van al die goede woorden, welke de HEERE, uw God, over u gesproken heeft; zij zijn u alle overkomen; er is van dezelve niet een enig woord gevallen. 15En het zal geschieden, gelijk als al die goede dingen over u gekomen zijn, die de HEERE, uw God, tot u gesproken heeft, alzo zal de HEERE over u komen laten al die kwade dingen, totdat Hij u verdelge van dit goede land, hetwelk u HEERE, uw God gegeven heeft. 16Wanneer gij het verbond des HEEREN, uws Gods, overtreedt, dat Hij u geboden heeft, en gij heengaat en dient andere goden, en u voor dezelve nederbuigt, zo zal de toorn des HEEREN over u ontsteken, en gij zult haastiglijk omkomen van het goede land, hetwelk Hij u gegeven heeft.
