1Post la morto de Moseo, servanto de la Eternulo, la Eternulo diris al Josuo, filo de Nun, helpanto de Moseo, jene: 2Mia servanto Moseo mortis; kaj nun leviĝu, transiru ĉi tiun Jordanon, vi kaj ĉi tiu tuta popolo, en la landon, kiun Mi donas al ili, al la Izraelidoj. 3Ĉiun lokon, sur kiun paŝos la plando de via piedo, Mi donas al vi, kiel Mi diris al Moseo. 4De la dezerto kaj de ĉi tiu Lebanon ĝis la granda rivero, la rivero Eŭfrato, la tuta lando de la Ĥetidoj, ĝis la Granda Maro okcidente, estu viaj limoj. 5Neniu rezistos al vi dum via tuta vivo; kiel Mi estis kun Moseo, tiel Mi estos kun vi; Mi ne foriros de vi kaj Mi ne forlasos vin. 6Estu forta kaj kuraĝa; ĉar vi ekposedigos al ĉi tiu popolo la landon, pri kiu Mi ĵuris al iliaj patroj, ke Mi donos ĝin al ili. 7Nur estu forta kaj tre kuraĝa, penante agi laŭ la tuta instruo, kiun donis al vi Mia servanto Moseo; ne dekliniĝu de ĝi dekstren nek maldekstren, por ke vi sukcesu ĉie, kien vi iros. 8Ĉi tiu libro de la instruo ne foriĝu de via buŝo, sed meditu pri ĝi tage kaj nokte, por ke vi zorge plenumu ĉion, kio estas skribita en ĝi; ĉar tiam vi havos feliĉon sur viaj vojoj, kaj tiam vi havos sukceson. 9Jen Mi ordonis al vi: estu forta kaj kuraĝa; ne havu teruron kaj ne timu; ĉar kun vi estas la Eternulo, via Dio, ĉie, kien vi iros. 10Kaj Josuo ordonis al la oficistoj de la popolo, dirante: 11Iru tra la tendaro, kaj ordonu al la popolo, dirante: Pretigu por vi manĝaĵon, ĉar post tri tagoj vi transiros ĉi tiun Jordanon, por iri ekposedi la landon, kiun la Eternulo, via Dio, donas al vi kiel posedaĵon. 12Kaj al la Rubenidoj kaj al la Gadidoj kaj al la duontribo de Manase, Josuo diris jene: 13Memoru la aferon, kiun ordonis al vi Moseo, servanto de la Eternulo, dirante: La Eternulo, via Dio, ripozigis vin, kaj donis al vi ĉi tiun teron; 14viaj edzinoj, viaj infanoj, kaj viaj brutoj restos sur la tero, kiun donis al vi Moseo transe de Jordan; kaj vi iru armitaj antaŭ viaj fratoj, ĉiuj, kiuj taŭgas por la milito, kaj helpu ilin, 15ĝis la Eternulo ripozigos viajn fratojn, kiel vin, kaj ili ankaŭ ekposedos la teron, kiun la Eternulo, via Dio, donas al ili; tiam vi reiros sur la teron de via posedado, kaj vi posedos ĝin, kiun donis al vi Moseo, servanto de la Eternulo, transe de Jordan, sur la flanko de sunleviĝo. 16Kaj ili respondis al Josuo, dirante: Ĉion, kion vi ordonis, ni faros, kaj ĉien, kien vi sendos nin, ni iros. 17Tute tiel, kiel ni obeis Moseon, ni obeos vin; nur la Eternulo, via Dio, estu kun vi, kiel Li estis kun Moseo. 18Ĉiu, kiu malobeos vian diron kaj ne aŭskultos viajn vortojn en ĉio, kion vi ordonis al li, estos mortigita. Nur estu forta kaj kuraĝa.
1Now after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, 2“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses. 4From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border. 5No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you. 6“Be strong and courageous; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. 9Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed: for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.” 10Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11“Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.’” 12Joshua spoke to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, saying, 13“Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, ‘Yahweh your God gives you rest, and will give you this land. 14Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock, shall live in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall pass over before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valor, and shall help them 15until Yahweh has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they have also possessed the land which Yahweh your God gives them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.’” 16They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you. Only may Yahweh your God be with you, as he was with Moses. 18Whoever rebels against your commandment, and doesn’t listen to your words in all that you command him, he shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.”
1Het geschiedde nu, na den dood van Mozes, den knecht des HEEREN, dat de HEERE tot Jozua, den zoon van Nun, den dienaar van Mozes, sprak, zeggende: 2Mijn knecht Mozes is gestorven; zo maak u nu op, trek over deze Jordaan, gij en al dit volk, tot het land, dat Ik hun, den kinderen Israels, geve. 3Alle plaats, waarop ulieder voetzool treden zal, heb Ik u gegeven, gelijk als Ik tot Mozes gesproken heb. 4Van de woestijn en dezen Libanon af tot aan de grote rivier, de rivier Frath, het ganse land der Hethieten, en tot aan de grote zee, tegen den ondergang der zon, zal ulieder landpale zijn. 5Niemand zal voor uw aangezicht bestaan al de dagen uws levens; gelijk als Ik met Mozes geweest ben, zal Ik met u zijn; Ik zal u niet begeven, en zal u niet verlaten. 6Wees sterk en heb goeden moed! want gij zult dit volk dat land erfelijk doen bezitten, dat Ik hun vaderen heb gezworen hun te geven. 7Alleenlijk wees sterk en heb zeer goeden moed, dat gij waarneemt te doen naar de ganse wet, welke Mozes, Mijn knecht, u geboden heeft, en wijk daarvan niet, ter rechter hand noch ter linkerhand, opdat gij verstandelijk handelt alom, waar gij zult gaan; 8Dat het boek dezer wet niet wijke van uw mond, maar overleg het dag en nacht, opdat gij waarneemt te doen naar alles, wat daarin geschreven is; want alsdan zult gij uw wegen voorspoedig maken, en alsdan zult gij verstandelijk handelen. 9Heb Ik het u niet bevolen? wees sterk en heb goeden moed, en verschrik niet, en ontzet u niet; want de HEERE, uw God, is met u alom, waar gij heengaat. 10Toen gebood Jozua den ambtlieden des volks, zeggende: 11Gaat door het midden des legers, en beveelt het volk, zeggende: Bereidt teerkost voor ulieden; want binnen nog drie dagen zult gijlieden over deze Jordaan gaan, dat gij ingaat, om te erven het land, hetwelk de HEERE, uw God, ulieden geeft om te beerven. 12En Jozua sprak tot de Rubenieten en Gadieten, en den halven stam van Manasse, zeggende: 13Gedenkt aan het woord, hetwelk Mozes, de knecht des HEEREN, ulieden geboden heeft, zeggende: De HEERE, uw God, geeft ulieden rust, en Hij geeft u dit land; 14Laat uw vrouwen, uw kleine kinderen, en uw vee blijven in het land, dat Mozes ulieden aan deze zijde van de Jordaan gegeven heeft; maar gijlieden zult gewapend trekken, voor het aangezicht uwer broederen, alle strijdbare helden, en zult hen helpen; 15Totdat de HEERE uw broederen rust geve, als ulieden, en dat zij ook erfelijk bezitten het land, dat de HEERE, uw God, hun geeft; alsdan zult gijlieden wederkeren tot het land uwer erfenis, en zult het erfelijk bezitten, dat Mozes, de knecht des HEEREN, ulieden gegeven heeft, aan deze zijde van de Jordaan, tegen den opgang der zon. 16Toen antwoordden zij Jozua, zeggende: Al wat gij ons geboden hebt, zullen wij doen, en alom, waar gij ons zenden zult, zullen wij gaan. 17Gelijk wij in alles naar Mozes hebben gehoord, alzo zullen wij naar u horen; alleenlijk dat de HEERE, uw God, met u zij, gelijk als Hij met Mozes geweest is! 18Alle man, die uw mond wederspannig wezen zal, en uw woorden niet horen zal in alles, wat gij hem gebieden zult, die zal gedood worden, alleenlijk wees sterk en heb goeden moed!
