1Η σοφία ωκοδόμησε τον οίκον αυτής, ελατόμησε τους στύλους αυτής επτά· 2έσφαξε τη σφάγια αυτής, εκέρασε τον οίνον αυτής, και ητοίμασε την τράπεζαν αυτής· 3απέστειλε τας θεραπαίνας αυτής, κηρύττει επί των υψηλών τόπων της πόλεως, 4Όστις είναι άφρων, ας στραφή εδώ· και, προς τους ενδεείς φρενών, λέγει προς αυτούς, 5Έλθετε, φάγετε από του άρτου μου, και πίετε από του οίνου τον οποίον εκέρασα· 6αφήσατε την αφροσύνην και ζήσατε· και κατευθύνθητε εν τη οδώ της συνέσεως. 7Ο νουθετών χλευαστήν λαμβάνει εις εαυτόν ατιμίαν· και ο ελέγχων τον ασεβή λαμβάνει εις εαυτόν μώμον. 8Μη έλεγχε χλευαστήν, διά να μη σε μισήση· έλεγχε σοφόν, και θέλει σε αγαπήσει. 9Δίδε αφορμήν εις τον σοφόν και θέλει γείνει σοφώτερος· δίδασκε τον δίκαιον και θέλει αυξηθή εις μάθησιν. 10Αρχή σοφίας φόβος Κυρίου· και επίγνωσις αγίων φρόνησις. 11Διότι δι' εμού αι ημέραι σου θέλουσι πολλαπλασιασθή, και έτη ζωής θέλουσι προστεθή εις σε. 12Εάν γείνης σοφός, θέλεις είσθαι σοφός διά σεαυτόν· και εάν γείνης χλευαστής, συ μόνος θέλεις πάσχει. 13Γυνή άφρων, θρασεία, ανόητος και μη γνωρίζουσα μηδέν· 14κάθηται εν τη θύρα της οικίας αυτής επί θρόνου, εν τοις υψηλοίς τόποις της πόλεως, 15προσκαλούσα τους διαβάτας τους κατευθυνομένους εις την οδόν αυτών· 16όστις είναι άφρων, ας στραφή εδώ· και προς τον ενδεή φρενών, λέγει προς αυτόν, 17Τα κλοπιμαία ύδατα είναι γλυκέα, και ο κρύφιος άρτος είναι ηδύς. 18Αλλ' αυτός αγνοεί ότι εκεί είναι οι νεκροί, και εις τα βάθη του άδου οι κεκλημένοι αυτής.
1Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars. 2She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table. 3She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city: 4“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him, 5“Come, eat some of my bread, Drink some of the wine which I have mixed! 6Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.” 7He who corrects a mocker invites insult. He who reproves a wicked man invites abuse. 8Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise man, and he will love you. 9Instruct a wise man, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. 10The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11For by me your days will be multiplied. The years of your life will be increased. 12If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it. 13The foolish woman is loud, Undisciplined, and knows nothing. 14She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, 15To call to those who pass by, who go straight on their ways, 16“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him, 17“Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant.” 18But he doesn’t know that the departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

Tot de verstandeloze zegt Zij: 5Komt, eet van Mijn brood, en drinkt van den wijn, dien Ik gemengd heb. 6Verlaat de slechtigheden, en leeft; en treedt in den weg des verstands. 7Wie den spotter tuchtigt, behaalt zich schande; en die den goddeloze bestraft, zijn schandvlek. 8Bestraf den spotter niet, opdat hij u niet hate; bestraf den wijze, en hij zal u liefhebben. 9Leer den wijze, zo zal hij nog wijzer worden; onderwijs den rechtvaardige, zo zal hij in leer toenemen. 10De vreze des HEEREN is het beginsel der wijsheid, en de wetenschap der heiligen is verstand. 11Want door Mij zullen uw dagen vermenigvuldigen, en de jaren des levens zullen u toegedaan worden. 12Indien gij wijs zijt, gij zijt wijs voor uzelven; en zijt gij een spotter, gij zult het alleen dragen. 13Een zotte vrouw is woelachtig, de slechtigheid zelve, en weet niet met al. 14En zij zit aan de deur van haar huis, op een stoel, op de hoge plaatsen der stad; 15Om te roepen degenen, die op den weg voorbijgaan, die hun paden recht maken, zeggende: 16Wie is slecht? Hij kere zich herwaarts; en tot den verstandeloze zegt zij: 17De gestolen wateren zijn zoet, en het verborgen brood is liefelijk. 18Maar hij weet niet, dat aldaar doden zijn; haar genoden zijn in de diepten der hel.
