1«Μασχίλ του Ασάφ.» Διά τι, Θεέ, απέρριψας ημάς διαπαντός; διά τι καπνίζει η οργή σου εναντίον των προβάτων της βοσκής σου; 2Μνήσθητι της συναγωγής σου, την οποίαν απέκτησας απ' αρχής· την ράβδον της κληρονομίας σου, την οποίαν ελύτρωσας· τούτο το όρος Σιών, εν ω κατώκησας. 3Κίνησον τα βήματά σου προς τας παντοτεινάς ερημώσεις, προς παν κακόν, το οποίον έπραξεν ο εχθρός εν τω αγιαστηρίω. 4Οι εχθροί σου βρυχώνται εν τω μέσω των συναγωγών σου· έθεσαν σημαίας τας σημαίας αυτών. 5Γνωστόν έγεινεν· ως εάν τις σηκόνων πέλεκυν καταφέρη επί πυκνά δένδρα, 6ούτω τώρα αυτοί συνέτριψαν διά μιας με πελέκεις και σφυρία, τα πελεκητά έργα αυτού. 7Κατέκαυσαν εν πυρί το αγιαστήριόν σου έως εδάφους· εβεβήλωσαν το κατοικητήριον του ονόματός σου. 8Είπον εν τη καρδία αυτών, Ας εξολοθρεύσωμεν αυτούς ομού· κατέκαυσαν πάσας τας συναγωγάς του Θεού εν τη γη. 9Τα σημεία ημών δεν βλέπομεν· δεν υπάρχει πλέον προφήτης ουδέ γνωρίζων μεταξύ ημών το έως πότε. 10Έως πότε, Θεέ, θέλει ονειδίζει ο εναντίος; θέλει βλασφημεί ο εχθρός το όνομά σου διαπαντός; 11Διά τι αποστρέφεις την χείρα σου, και την δεξιάν σου; έκβαλε αυτήν εκ μέσου του κόλπου σου και αφάνισον αυτούς. 12Αλλ' ο Θεός είναι εξ αρχής Βασιλεύς μου, εργαζόμενος σωτηρίαν εν μέσω της γης. 13Συ διεχώρισας διά της δυνάμεώς σου την θάλασσαν· συ συνέτριψας τας κεφαλάς των δρακόντων εν τοις ύδασι. 14Συ συνέτριψας τας κεφαλάς τον Λευϊάθαν· έδωκας αυτόν βρώσιν εις τον λαόν, τον κατοικούντα εν ερήμοις. 15Συ ήνοιξας πηγάς και χειμάρρους· εξήρανας ποταμούς δυνατούς. 16Σού είναι η ημέρα και σου η νύξ· συ ητοίμασας το φως και τον ήλιον. 17Συ έθεσας πάντα τα όρια της γής· συ έκαμες το θέρος και τον χειμώνα. 18Μνήσθητι τούτου, ότι ο εχθρός ωνείδισε τον Κύριον· και λαός άφρων εβλασφήμησε το όνομά σου. 19Μη παραδώσης εις τα θηρία την ψυχήν της τρυγόνος σου· την σύναξιν των πενήτων σου μη λησμονήσης διαπαντός. 20Επίβλεψον επί την διαθήκην σου· διότι επλήσθησαν οι σκοτεινοί της γης τόποι από οίκων καταδυναστείας. 21Ας μη στραφή ο ταλαίπωρος εις τα οπίσω κατησχυμμένος· ο πτωχός και ο πένης ας επαινώσι το όνομά σου. 22Ανάστα, Θεέ· δίκασον την δίκην σου· μνήσθητι του ονειδισμού, τον οποίον εις σε κάμνει ο άφρων όλην την ημέραν. 23Μη λησμονήσης την φωνήν των εχθρών σου· ο θόρυβος των επανισταμένων κατά σου αυξάνει διαπαντός.
1God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture? 2Remember your congregation, which you purchased of old, which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your inheritance; Mount Zion, in which you have lived. 3Lift up your feet to the perpetual ruins, all the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary. 4Your adversaries have roared in the midst of your assembly. They have profaned the dwelling place of your Name. 8They said in their heart, “We will crush them completely.” They have burned up all the places in the land where God was worshiped. 9We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet, neither is there among us anyone who knows how long. 10How long, God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever? 11Why do you draw back your hand, even your right hand? Take it out of your pocket and consume them! 12Yet God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. 13You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters. 14You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces. You gave him as food to people and desert creatures. 15You opened up spring and stream. You dried up mighty rivers. 16The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. 17You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter. 18Remember this, that the enemy has mocked you, Yahweh. Foolish people have blasphemed your name. 19Don’t deliver the soul of your dove to wild beasts. Don’t forget the life of your poor forever. 20Honor your covenant, for haunts of violence fill the dark places of the earth. 21Don’t let the oppressed return ashamed. Let the poor and needy praise your name. 22Arise, God! Plead your own cause. Remember how the foolish man mocks you all day. 23Don’t forget the voice of your adversaries. The tumult of those who rise up against you ascends continually.

Zal de vijand Uw Naam in eeuwigheid lasteren? 11Waarom trekt Gij Uw hand, ja, Uw rechterhand af? Trek haar uit het midden van Uw boezem; maak een einde. 12Evenwel is God mijn Koning van ouds af, Die verlossingen werkt in het midden der aarde. 13Gij hebt door Uw sterkte de zee gespleten; Gij hebt de koppen der draken in de wateren verbroken. 14Gij hebt de koppen des Leviathans verpletterd; Gij hebt hem tot spijs gegeven aan het volk in dorre plaatsen. 15Gij hebt een fontein en beek gekliefd; Gij hebt sterke rivieren uitgedroogd. 16De dag is Uwe, ook is de nacht Uwe; Gij hebt het licht en de zon bereid. 17Gij hebt al de palen der aarde gesteld; zomer en winter, die hebt Gij geformeerd. 18Gedenk hieraan; de vijand heeft den HEERE gesmaad, en een dwaas volk heeft Uw Naam gelasterd. 19Geef aan het wild gedierte de ziel Uwer tortelduif niet over; vergeet den hoop Uwer ellendigen niet in eeuwigheid. 20Aanschouw het verbond; want de duistere plaatsen des lands zijn vol woningen van geweld. 21Laat den verdrukte niet beschaamd wederkeren; laat den ellendige en nooddruftige Uw Naam prijzen. 22Sta op, o God! twist Uw twistzaak; gedenk der smaadheid, die U van den dwaze wedervaart den gansen dag. 23Vergeet niet het geroep Uwer wederpartijders; het getier dergenen, die tegen U opstaan, klimt geduriglijk op.
