1Phi -e-rơ, sứ đồ của Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, gởi cho những người kiều ngụ rải rác trong xứ Bông, Ga-la-ti, Cáp-ba-đốc, A-si và Bi-thi-ni, là những người được chọn, 2theo sự biết trước của Ðức Chúa Trời, là Ðức Chúa Cha, và được nên thánh bởi Ðức Thánh Linh, đặng vâng phục Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ và có phần trong sự rải huyết Ngài: nguyền xin ân điển và bình an thêm lên cho anh em! 3Ngợi khen Ðức Chúa Trời, là Cha Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, Ngài lấy lòng thương xót cả thể khiến chúng ta lại sanh, đặng chúng ta nhờ sự Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ sống lại từ trong kẻ chết mà có sự trông cậy sống, 4là cơ nghiệp không hư đi, không ô uế, không suy tàn, để dành trong các từng trời cho anh em, 5là kẻ bởi đức tin nhờ quyền phép của Ðức Chúa Trời giữ cho, để được sự cứu rỗi gần hiện ra trong kỳ sau rốt! 6Anh em vui mừng về điều đó, dầu hiện nay anh em vì sự thử thách trăm bề buộc phải buồn bã ít lâu; 7hầu cho sự thử thách đức tin anh em quí hơn vàng hay hư nát, dầu đã bị thử lửa, sanh ra ngợi khen, tôn trọng, vinh hiển cho anh em khi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ hiện ra. 8Ngài là Ðấng anh em không thấy mà yêu mến; dầu bây giờ anh em không thấy Ngài, nhưng tin Ngài, và vui mừng lắm một cách không xiết kể và vinh hiển: 9nhận được phần thưởng về đức tin anh em, là sự cứu rỗi linh hồn mình. 10Về sự cứu rỗi đó, các đấng tiên tri đã tìm tòi suy xét, và đã nói tiên tri về ân điển định sẵn cho anh em: 11nghĩa là tìm cho biết thời kỳ nào và thời kỳ cách nào mà Thánh Linh Ðấng Christ ở trong lòng mình đã chỉ cho, là khi làm chứng trước về sự đau đớn của Ðấng Christ và về sự vinh hiển sẽ theo sau. 12Các đấng ấy đã được tỏ cho rằng chẳng phải vì mình, bèn là vì anh em mà truyền ra những điều đó, là những điều hiện nay đã rao cho anh em, bởi những người nhờ Ðức Thánh Linh từ trên trời sai xuống, mà giảng Tin Lành cho anh em; các thiên sứ cũng ước ao xem thấu những sự đó. 13Vậy, anh em hãy bền chí như thể thắt lưng, hãy tiết độ, lấy sự trông cậy trọn vẹn đợi chờ ơn sẽ ban cho mình trong khi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ hiện ra. 14Anh em đã nên như con cái hay vâng lời, thì chớ có làm theo sự dâm dục, là sự cai trị trong anh em ngày trước, về lúc anh em còn mê muội. 15Nhưng, như Ðấng gọi anh em là thánh, thì anh em cũng phải thánh trong mọi cách ăn ở mình, 16bởi có chép rằng: Hãy nên thánh, vì ta là thánh. 17Nếu anh em xưng Ðấng không tây vị anh em, xét đoán từng người theo việc họ làm, bằng Cha, thì hãy lấy lòng kính sợ mà ăn ở trong thời kỳ ở trọ đời nầy, 18vì biết rằng chẳng phải bởi vật hay hư nát như bạc hoặc vàng mà anh em đã được chuộc khỏi sự ăn ở không ra chi của tổ tiên truyền lại cho mình, 19bèn là bởi huyết báu Ðấng Christ, dường như huyết của chiên con không lỗi không vít, 20đã định sẵn trước buổi sáng thế, và hiện ra trong cuối các thời kỳ vì cớ anh em, 21là kẻ nhơn Ðức Chúa Jêsus tin đến Ðức Chúa Trời, tức là Ðấng đã khiến Ngài từ kẻ chết sống lại, và ban sự vinh hiển cho Ngài đến nỗi đức tin và sự trông cậy anh em được nương nhờ Ðức Chúa Trời. 22Anh em đã vâng theo lẽ thật làm sạch lòng mình, đặng có lòng yêu thương anh em cách thật thà, nên hãy yêu nhau sốt sắng hết lòng; 23anh em đã được lại sanh, chẳng phải bởi giống hay hư nát, nhưng bởi giống chẳng hay hư nát, là bởi lời hằng sống và bền vững của Ðức Chúa Trời. 24Vì, Mọi xác thịt vì như cỏ, Mọi sự vinh hiển của nó vì như hoa cỏ. Cỏ khô, hoa rụng, 25Nhưng lời Chúa còn lại đời đời. Và lời đó là đạo Tin Lành đã giảng ra cho anh em.
1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen ones who are living as foreigners in the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy became our father again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that doesn’t fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, 5who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been put to grief in various trials, 7that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ— 8whom not having known you love; in whom, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory— 9receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 10Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, 11searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them. 12To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into. 13Therefore prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ— 14as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance, 15but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; 16because it is written, “You shall be holy; for I am holy.” 17If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man’s work, pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear: 18knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers, 19but with precious blood, as of a faultless and pure lamb, the blood of Christ; 20who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of times for your sake, 21who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God. 22Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently: 23having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever. 24For, “All flesh is like grass, and all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls; 25but the Lord’s word endures forever.” This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.
1Petrus, een apostel van Jezus Christus, aan de vreemdelingen, verstrooid in Pontus, Galatie, Kappadocie, Azie en Bithynie, 2Den uitverkorenen naar de voorkennis van God den Vader, in de heiligmaking des Geestes, tot gehoorzaamheid en besprenging des bloeds van Jezus Christus; genade en vrede zij u vermenigvuldigd. 3Geloofd zij de God en Vader van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, Die naar Zijn grote barmhartigheid ons heeft wedergeboren, tot een levende hoop, door de opstanding van Jezus Christus uit de doden. 4Tot een onverderfelijke, en onbevlekkelijke, en onverwelkelijke erfenis, die in de hemelen bewaard is voor u, 5Die in de kracht Gods bewaard wordt door het geloof tot de zaligheid, die bereid is, om geopenbaard te worden in den laatsten tijd. 6In welke gij u verheugt, nu een weinig tijds (zo het nodig is) bedroefd zijnde door menigerlei verzoekingen; 7Opdat de beproeving uws geloofs, die veel kostelijker is dan van het goud, hetwelk vergaat en door het vuur beproefd wordt, bevonden worde te zijn tot lof, en eer, en heerlijkheid, in de openbaring van Jezus Christus; 8Denwelken gij niet gezien hebt, en nochtans liefhebt, in Denwelken gij nu, hoewel Hem niet ziende, maar gelovende, u verheugt met een onuitsprekelijke en heerlijke vreugde; 9Verkrijgende het einde uws geloofs, namelijk de zaligheid der zielen. 10Van welke zaligheid ondervraagd en onderzocht hebben de profeten, die geprofeteerd hebben van de genade, aan u geschied; 11Onderzoekende, op welke of hoedanigen tijd de Geest van Christus, Die in hen was, beduidde en te voren getuigde, het lijden, dat op Christus komen zou, en de heerlijkheid daarna volgende. 12Denwelken geopenbaard is, dat zij niet zichzelven, maar ons bedienden deze dingen, die u nu aangediend zijn bij degenen, die u het Evangelie verkondigd hebben door den Heilige Geest, Die van den hemel gezonden is; in welke dingen de engelen begerig zijn in te zien. 13Daarom opschortende de lenden uws verstands, en nuchteren zijnde, hoopt volkomenlijk op de genade, die u toegebracht wordt in de openbaring van Jezus Christus. 14Als gehoorzame kinderen, wordt niet gelijkvormig aan de begeerlijkheden, die te voren in uw onwetendheid waren; 15Maar gelijk Hij, Die u geroepen heeft, heilig is, zo wordt ook gijzelven heilig in al uw wandel; 16Daarom dat er geschreven is: Zijt heilig, want Ik ben heilig. 17En indien gij tot een Vader aanroept Dengene, Die zonder aanneming des persoons oordeelt naar eens iegelijks werk, zo wandelt in vreze den tijd uwer inwoning; 18Wetende dat gij niet door vergankelijke dingen, zilver of goud, verlost zijt uit uw ijdele wandeling, die u van de vaderen overgeleverd is; 19Maar door het dierbaar bloed van Christus, als van een onbestraffelijk en onbevlekt Lam; 20Dewelke wel voorgekend is geweest voor de grondlegging der wereld, maar geopenbaard is in deze laatste tijden om uwentwil, 21Die door Hem gelooft in God, Welke Hem opgewekt heeft uit de doden, en Hem heerlijkheid gegeven heeft, opdat uw geloof en hoop op God zijn zou. 22Hebbende dan uw zielen gereinigd in de gehoorzaamheid der waarheid, door den Geest, tot ongeveinsde broederlijke liefde, zo hebt elkander vuriglijk lief uit een rein hart; 23Gij, die wedergeboren zijt, niet uit vergankelijk, maar uit onvergankelijk zaad, door het levende en eeuwig blijvende Woord van God. 24Want alle vlees is als gras, en alle heerlijkheid des mensen is als een bloem van het gras. Het gras is verdord, en zijn bloem is afgevallen; 25Maar het Woord des Heeren blijft in der eeuwigheid; en dit is het Woord, dat onder u verkondigd is.
