1Deus falou antigamente muitas vezes, e de muitas maneiras, aos ancestrais pelos profetas. 2Mas nestes últimos falou a nós por meio do seu Filho, a quem constituiu por herdeiro de todas as coisas, e pelo qual também fez o universo. 3O Filho é o resplendor da sua glória, a expressa imagem da sua pessoa, e sustenta todas as coisas pela palavra de poder. E, depois de fazer por si mesmo a purificação dos pecados, sentou-se à direita da Majestade nas alturas; 4e se tornou muito superior aos anjos, assim como herdou um nome mais excelente que eles. 5Pois a qual dos anjos Deus jamais disse: “Tu és meu Filho, eu hoje te gerei”, E em outra vez: “Eu lhe serei por Pai, e ele me será por Filho”? 6E outra vez, quando introduz o primogênito ao mundo, diz: E todos os anjos de Deus o adorem. 7Quanto aos anjos, porém, ele diz: Ele faz de seus anjos espíritos; e de seus trabalhadores, labareda de fogo; 8Mas ao Filho diz : Ó Deus, o teu trono é para todo o sempre. Cetro de equidade é o cetro do teu Reino. 9Amaste a justiça, e odiaste a transgressão; por isso, Deus, o teu Deus, te ungiu com óleo de alegria mais que os teus companheiros. 10E: Tu Senhor, no princípio fundaste a terra, e os céus são obras de tuas mãos. 11Eles perecerão, mas tu continuas. Todos eles como roupa se envelhecerão; 12como uma manta tu os envolverás, e como roupa serão mudados; porém tu és o mesmo, e os teus anos não cessarão. 13E a qual dos anjos ele jamais disse: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha os teus inimigos como estrado de teus pés? 14Por acaso não são todos eles espíritos servidores, enviados para auxílio dos que herdarão a salvação?
1God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds. 3His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4having become so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they have. 5For to which of the angels did he say at any time, “You are my Son. Today have I become your father?” and again, “I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?” 6When he again brings in the firstborn into the world he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him.” 7Of the angels he says, “Who makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire.” 8But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom. 9You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.” 10And, “You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands. 11They will perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does. 12You will roll them up like a mantle, and they will be changed; but you are the same. Your years will not fail.” 13But which of the angels has he told at any time, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?” 14Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
1God, voortijds veelmaal en op velerlei wijze, tot de vaderen gesproken hebbende door de profeten, heeft in deze laatste dagen tot ons gesproken door den Zoon; 2Welken Hij gesteld heeft tot een Erfgenaam van alles, door Welken Hij ook de wereld gemaakt heeft; 3Dewelke, alzo Hij is het Afschijnsel Zijner heerlijkheid, en het uitgedrukte Beeld Zijner zelfstandigheid, en alle dingen draagt door het woord Zijner kracht, nadat Hij de reinigmaking onzer zonden door Zichzelven te weeg gebracht heeft, is gezeten aan de rechter hand der Majesteit in de hoogste hemelen; 4Zoveel treffelijker geworden dan de engelen, als Hij uitnemender Naam boven hen geerfd heeft. 5Want tot wien van de engelen heeft Hij ooit gezegd: Gij zijt Mijn Zoon, heden heb ik u gegenereerd? En wederom: Ik zal Hem tot een Vader zijn, en Hij zal Mij tot een Zoon zijn? 6En als Hij wederom de Eerstgeborene inbrengt in de wereld, zegt Hij: En dat alle engelen Gods Hem aanbidden. 7En tot de engelen zegt Hij wel: Die Zijn engelen maakt geesten, en Zijn dienaars een vlam des vuurs. 8Maar tot den Zoon zegt Hij: Uw troon, o God, is in alle eeuwigheid; de schepter Uws koninkrijks is een rechte schepter. 9Gij hebt rechtvaardigheid liefgehad, en ongerechtigheid gehaat; daarom heeft U, o God! Uw God gezalfd met olie der vreugde boven Uw medegenoten. 10En: Gij, Heere! hebt in den beginne de aarde gegrond, en de hemelen zijn werken Uwer handen; 11Dezelve zullen vergaan, maar Gij blijft altijd, en zij zullen alle als een kleed verouden; 12En als een dekkleed zult Gij ze ineenrollen, en zij zullen veranderd worden; maar Gij zijt Dezelfde, en Uw jaren zullen niet ophouden. 13En tot welken der engelen heeft Hij ooit gezegd: Zit aan Mijn rechter hand, totdat Ik Uw vijanden zal gezet hebben tot een voetbank Uwer voeten? 14Zijn zij niet allen gedienstige geesten, die tot dienst uitgezonden worden, om dergenen wil, die de zaligheid beerven zullen?
