1Os filhos de Judá foram: Perez, Hezrom, Carmi, Hur, e Sobal. 2E Reaías, filho de Sobal, gerou a Jaate; e Jaate gerou a Aumai e a Laade. Estas são as famílias dos Zoratitas. 3E estas são as do pai de Etã: Jezreel, Isma, e Idbás. E o nome da irmã deles era Hazelelponi. 4E Penuel foi pai de Gedor, e Ézer pai de Husá. Estes foram os filhos de Hur, primogênito de Efrata, pai de Belém. 5E Asur, pai de Tecoa, teve duas mulheres: Helá, e Naará. 6E Naará lhe gerou a Auzão, Héfer, Temeni, e a Haastari. Estes foram os filhos de Naará. 7E os filhos de Helá foram: Zerete, Zoar, e Etnã. 8E Coz gerou a Anube, e a Zobeba, e as famílias de Aarel, filho de Harum. 9E Jabez foi mais honrado que seus irmãos; sua mãe o chamara de Jabez, dizendo: Pois com dores eu o dei à luz. 10Mas Jabez invocou ao Deus de Israel, dizendo: Ah, se tu me abençoares muito, e ampliares os meus limites, e se tua mão for comigo, e me protegeres do mal, para que eu não sofra! E Deus fez suceder o que ele havia pedido. 11E Quelube, irmão de Suá gerou a Maquir, que foi o pai de Estom. 12E Estom gerou a Bete-Rafa, Paseia, e a Teína, pai da cidade de Naás; estes foram os homens de Reca. 13Os filhos de Quenaz foram: Otniel e Seraías. Os filhos de Otniel: Hatate e Meonotai . 14E Meonotai gerou a Ofra; e Seraías gerou a Joabe, pai dos moradores do Vale dos Artesãos, porque foram artesãos. 15Os filhos de Calebe, filho de Jefoné foram: Iru, Elá, e Naã; e filho de Elá foi Quenaz. 16Os filhos de Jealelel foram: Zife, Zifa, Tíria, e Asareel. 17E os filhos de Ezra foram: Jéter, Merede, Efer, e Jalom. E sua mulher também deu à luz a Miriã, Samai, e a Isbá, pai de Estemoa. 18E sua mulher Judia lhe deu à luz a Jerede pai de Gedor, a Héber pai de Socó, e a Jecutiel pai de Zanoa. Estes foram os filhos de Bitias, filha de Faraó, a qual Merede teve por esposa. 19E os filhos da mulher de Hodias, irmã de Naã, foram: o pai de Queila o garmita, e Estemoa o maacatita. 20E os filhos de Simeão foram: Amnom, Rina, Ben-Hanã, e Tilom. E os filhos de Isi foram: Zoete, e Ben-Zoete. 21Os filhos de Selá, filho de Judá foram: Er, pai de Leca, e Lada, pai de Maressa, e as famílias da casa dos trabalhadores do linho em Bete-Asbeia; 22Como também Joquim, os homens de Cozeba, Joás, e Sarafe (os quais dominaram sobre os moabitas), e Jasubi-Leem. Estes registros, porém, são antigos. 23Estes foram oleiros, e habitavam em Netaim e Gedera; eles ficaram ali com o rei em sua obra. 24Os filhos de Simeão foram: Nemuel, Jamim, Jaribe, Zerá, Saul; 25Cujo filho foi Salum, cujo filho foi Mibsão, cujo filho foi e Misma. 26Os filhos de Misma foram: seu filho Hamuel, cujo filho foi Zacur, cujo filho foi Simei. 27E Simei teve dezesseis filhos e seis filhas, porém seus irmãos não tiveram muitos filhos, e toda a sua família não se multiplicou tanto como a dos filhos de Judá. 28E habitaram em Berseba, Moladá, Hazar-Sual, 29E em Bila, Ezém, Tolade, 30Betuel, Hormá, Ziclague. 31Bete-Marcabote, Hazar-Susim, Bete-Birai, e em Saaraim. Estas foram suas cidades até quando Davi começou a reinar. 32E suas aldeias foram: Etã, Aim, Rimom, e Toquém, e Asã, cinco cidades; 33E todas as suas aldeias que estavam ao redor destas cidades, até Baal. Estas foram suas habitações, e suas genealogias. 34Porém Mesobabe, Janleque, Josias filho de Amazias; 35Joel, Jeú filho de Josibias, filho de Seraías, filho de Asiel; 36E Elioenai, Jaacobá, Jesoaías, Asaias, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaia; 37E Ziza filho de Sifi, filho de Alom, filho de Jedaías, filho de Sinri, filho de Semaías. 38Estes registrados por seus nomes foram os líderes de suas famílias, e que foram multiplicados muito nas casas de seus pais. 39E chegaram até a entrada de Gedor, até o oriente do vale, buscando pastos para suas ovelhas. 40E acharam pastos férteis e bons, e a terra era espaçosa, quieta, e descansada, porque os de Cam tinham habitado ali antes. 41Estes, pois, que foram escritos por seus nomes, vieram nos dias de Ezequias rei de Judá, e derrubaram as tendas e habitações dos que se acharam ali, e os destruíram até hoje; e habitaram ali em seu lugar, porque ali havia pastos para suas ovelhas. 42Também alguns deles, quinhentos homens dos filhos de Simeão, se foram ao monte de Seir, levando como capitães a Pelatias, Nearias, Refaías, e a Uziel, filhos de Isi; 43E mataram os que haviam restado dos amalequitas, e habitaram ali até hoje.

1The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. 2Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites. 3These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi; 4and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Naarah. 7The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan. 8Hakkoz became the father of Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. 9Jabez was more honorable than his brothers: and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.” 10Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” God granted him that which he requested. 11Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah. 13The sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath. 14Meonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim; for they were craftsmen. 15The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah; and Kenaz. 16The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel. 17The sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. The records are ancient. 23These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: there they lived with the king for his work. 24The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; 25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. 26The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son. 27Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn’t have many children, neither did all their family multiply like the children of Judah. 28They lived at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual, 29and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad, 30and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag, 31and at Beth Marcaboth, and Hazar Susim, and at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities to the reign of David. 32Their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities; 33and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy. 34Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah, 35and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel, 36and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah, 37and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah— 38these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers’ houses increased greatly. 39They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. 40They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for those who lived there before were of Ham. 41These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. 43They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

Dit waren hun steden, totdat David koning werd. 32En hun dorpen waren Etam en Ain, Rimmon en Tochen, en Asan; vijf steden. 33En al haar dorpen, die in den omloop dezer steden waren, tot Baal toe. Dit zijn hun woningen en hun geslachtsrekening voor hen. 34Doch Mesobab, en Jamlech, en Josa, de zoon van Amazia, 35En Joel, en Jehu, de zoon van Jesibja, den zoon van Saraja, den zoon van Asiel, 36En Eljoenai, en Jaakoba, en Jesohaja, en Asaja, en Adiel, en Jesimeel, en Benaja, 37En Ziza, de zoon van Sifei, den zoon van Allon, den zoon van Jedaja, den zoon van Simri, den zoon van Semaja; 38Dezen kwamen tot namen, zijnde vorsten in hun huisgezinnen, en de huisgezinnen hunner vaderen braken uit in menigte. 39En zij gingen tot aan den ingang van Gedor tot het oosten des dals, om weide te zoeken voor hun schapen. 40En zij vonden vette en goede weide, en een land, wijd van begrip, en stil, en gerust; want die van Cham woonden daar tevoren. 41Dezen nu, die met namen beschreven zijn, kwamen in de dagen van Hizkia, den koning van Juda, en zij sloegen de tenten en woningen dergenen, die daar gevonden werden; en zij verbanden hen, tot op dezen dag; en zij woonden aan hun plaats, want daar was weide voor hun schapen. 42Ook gingen uit hen, te weten uit de kinderen van Simeon, vijfhonderd mannen, tot het gebergte van Seir; en Pelatja, en Nearja, en Refaja, en Izziel, de zonen van Isei, waren hun tot hoofden. 43En zij sloegen de overigen der ontkomenen onder de Amalekieten, en zij woonden aldaar tot op dezen dag.
