1L’Éternel dit à Moïse : Taille deux tables de pierre comme les premières, et j’y écrirai les paroles qui étaient sur les premières tables que tu as brisées. 2Sois prêt de bonne heure, et tu monteras dès le matin sur la montagne de Sinaï ; tu te tiendras là devant moi, sur le sommet de la montagne. 3Que personne ne monte avec toi, et que personne ne paraisse sur toute la montagne ; et même que ni brebis ni bœufs ne paissent près de cette montagne. 4Moïse tailla deux tables de pierre comme les premières ; il se leva de bon matin, et monta sur la montagne de Sinaï, selon l’ordre que l’Éternel lui avait donné, et il prit dans sa main les deux tables de pierre. 5L’Éternel descendit dans une nuée, se tint là auprès de lui, et proclama le nom de l’Éternel. 6Et l’Éternel passa devant lui, et s’écria : L’Éternel, l’Éternel, Dieu miséricordieux et compatissant, lent à la colère, riche en bonté et en fidélité, 7qui conserve son amour jusqu’à mille générations, qui pardonne l’iniquité, la rébellion et le péché, mais qui ne tient point le coupable pour innocent, et qui punit l’iniquité des pères sur les enfants et sur les enfants des enfants jusqu’à la troisième et à la quatrième génération ! 8Aussitôt Moïse s’inclina à terre et se prosterna. 9Il dit : Seigneur, si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, que le Seigneur marche au milieu de nous, car c’est un peuple au cou roide ; pardonne nos iniquités et nos péchés, et prends-nous pour ta possession. 10L’Éternel répondit : Voici, je traite une alliance. Je ferai, en présence de tout ton peuple, des prodiges qui n’ont eu lieu dans aucun pays et chez aucune nation ; tout le peuple qui t’environne verra l’œuvre de l’Éternel, et c’est par toi que j’accomplirai des choses terribles. 11Prends garde à ce que je t’ordonne aujourd’hui. Voici, je chasserai devant toi les Amoréens, les Cananéens, les Héthiens, les Phéréziens, les Héviens et les Jébusiens. 12Garde-toi de faire alliance avec les habitants du pays où tu dois entrer, de peur qu’ils ne soient un piège pour toi. 13Au contraire, vous renverserez leurs autels, vous briserez leurs statues, et vous abattrez leurs idoles. 14Tu ne te prosterneras point devant un autre dieu ; car l’Éternel porte le nom de jaloux, il est un Dieu jaloux. 15Garde-toi de faire alliance avec les habitants du pays, de peur que, se prostituant à leurs dieux et leur offrant des sacrifices, ils ne t’invitent, et que tu ne manges de leurs victimes ; 16de peur que tu ne prennes de leurs filles pour tes fils, et que leurs filles, se prostituant à leurs dieux, n’entraînent tes fils à se prostituer à leurs dieux. 17Tu ne te feras point de dieu en fonte. 18Tu observeras la fête des pains sans levain ; pendant sept jours, au temps fixé dans le mois des épis, tu mangeras des pains sans levain, comme je t’en ai donné l’ordre, car c’est dans le mois des épis que tu es sorti d’Égypte. 19Tout premier-né m’appartient, même tout mâle premier-né dans les troupeaux de gros et de menu bétail. 20Tu rachèteras avec un agneau le premier-né de l’âne ; et si tu ne le rachètes pas, tu lui briseras la nuque. Tu rachèteras tout premier-né de tes fils ; et l’on ne se présentera point à vide devant ma face. 21Tu travailleras six jours, et tu te reposeras le septième jour ; tu te reposeras, même au temps du labourage et de la moisson. 22Tu célébreras la fête des semaines, des prémices de la moisson du froment, et la fête de la récolte, à la fin de l’année. 23Trois fois par an, tous les mâles se présenteront devant le Seigneur, l’Éternel, Dieu d’Israël. 24Car je chasserai les nations devant toi, et j’étendrai tes frontières ; et personne ne convoitera ton pays, pendant que tu monteras pour te présenter devant l’Éternel, ton Dieu, trois fois par an. 25Tu n’offriras point avec du pain levé le sang de la victime immolée en mon honneur ; et le sacrifice de la fête de Pâque ne sera point gardé pendant la nuit jusqu’au matin. 26Tu apporteras à la maison de L’Éternel, ton Dieu, les prémices des premiers fruits de la terre. Tu ne feras point cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère. 27L’Éternel dit à Moïse : Écris ces paroles ; car c’est conformément à ces paroles que je traite alliance avec toi et avec Israël. 28Moïse fut là avec l’Éternel quarante jours et quarante nuits. Il ne mangea point de pain, et il ne but point d’eau. Et l’Éternel écrivit sur les tables les paroles de l’alliance, les dix paroles. 29Moïse descendit de la montagne de Sinaï, ayant les deux tables du témoignage dans sa main , en descendant de la montagne ; et il ne savait pas que la peau de son visage rayonnait, parce qu’il avait parlé avec l’Éternel. 30Aaron et tous les enfants d’Israël regardèrent Moïse, et voici la peau de son visage rayonnait ; et ils craignaient de s’approcher de lui. 31Moïse les appela ; Aaron et tous les principaux de l’assemblée vinrent auprès de lui, et il leur parla. 32Après cela, tous les enfants d’Israël s’approchèrent, et il leur donna tous les ordres qu’il avait reçus de l’Éternel, sur la montagne de Sinaï. 33Lorsque Moïse eut achevé de leur parler, il mit un voile sur son visage. 34Quand Moïse entrait devant l’Éternel, pour lui parler, il ôtait le voile, jusqu’à ce qu’il sortît ; et quand il sortait, il disait aux enfants d’Israël ce qui lui avait été ordonné. 35Les enfants d’Israël regardaient le visage de Moïse, et voyaient que la peau de son visage rayonnait ; et Moïse remettait le voile sur son visage jusqu’à ce qu’il entrât, pour parler avec l’Éternel.
1Yahweh said to Moses, “Chisel two stone tablets like the first: and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. 3No one shall come up with you; neither let anyone be seen throughout all the mountain; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mountain.” 4He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets. 5Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed Yahweh’s name. 6Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, 7keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.” 8Moses hurried and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. 9He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us; although this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.” 10He said, “Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been worked in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among which you are shall see the work of Yahweh; for it is an awesome thing that I do with you. 11Observe that which I command you this day. Behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. 12Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare in your midst: 13but you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their Asherah poles; 14for you shall worship no other god: for Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. 15“Don’t make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, lest they play the prostitute after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, and one call you and you eat of his sacrifice; 16and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters play the prostitute after their gods, and make your sons play the prostitute after their gods. 17“You shall make no cast idols for yourselves. 18“You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib; for in the month Abib you came out of Egypt. 19“All that opens the womb is mine; and all your livestock that is male, the firstborn of cow and sheep. 20The firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb: and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. No one shall appear before me empty. 21“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest. 22“You shall observe the feast of weeks with the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of harvest at the year’s end. 23Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yahweh, the God of Israel. 24For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither shall any man desire your land when you go up to appear before Yahweh, your God, three times in the year. 25“You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the Passover be left to the morning. 26“You shall bring the first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of Yahweh your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.” 27Yahweh said to Moses, “Write you these words: for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28He was there with Yahweh forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread, nor drank water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. 29When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mountain, Moses didn’t know that the skin of his face shone by reason of his speaking with him. 30When Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him. 31Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them. 32Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and he gave them all of the commandments that Yahweh had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. 33When Moses was done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. 34But when Moses went in before Yahweh to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out; and he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel that which he was commanded. 35The children of Israel saw Moses’ face, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
1Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Houw u twee stenen tafelen, gelijk de eerste waren, zo zal Ik op de tafelen schrijven dezelfde woorden, die op de eerste tafelen geweest zijn, die gij gebroken hebt. 2En wees bereid tegen den morgenstond; dat gij in den morgenstond op den berg Sinai klimt, en stel u aldaar voor Mij, op den top des bergs. 3En niemand zal met u opklimmen; dat er ook niemand gezien worde op den gansen berg; ook het kleine vee, noch runderen zullen tegenover dezen berg niet weiden. 4Toen hieuw hij twee stenen tafelen, gelijk de eerste; en Mozes stond des morgens vroeg op, en klom op den berg Sinai, gelijk als hem de HEERE geboden had; en hij nam de twee stenen tafelen in zijn hand. 5De HEERE nu kwam nederwaarts in een wolk, en stelde Zich aldaar bij hem; en Hij riep uit den Naam des HEEREN. 6Als nu de HEERE voor zijn aangezicht voorbijging, zo riep Hij: HEERE, HEERE, God, barmhartig en genadig, lankmoedig en groot van weldadigheid en waarheid. 7Die de weldadigheid bewaart aan vele duizenden, Die de ongerechtigheid, en overtreding, en zonde vergeeft; Die den schuldige geenszins onschuldig houdt, bezoekende de ongerechtigheid der vaderen aan de kinderen, en aan de kindskinderen, in het derde en vierde lid. 8Mozes nu haastte zich en neigde het hoofd ter aarde, en hij boog zich. 9En hij zeide: Heere! indien ik nu genade gevonden heb in Uw ogen, zo ga nu de Heere in het midden van ons, want dit is een hardnekkig volk; doch vergeef onze ongerechtigheid en onze zonde, en neem ons aan tot een erfdeel! 10Toen zeide Hij: Zie, Ik maak een verbond; voor uw ganse volk zal Ik wonderen doen, die niet geschapen zijn op de ganse aarde, noch onder enige volken; alzo dat dit ganse volk, in welks midden gij zijt, des HEEREN werk zien zal, dat het schrikkelijk is, hetwelk Ik met u doe. 11Onderhoudt gij hetgeen Ik u heden gebiede! zie, Ik zal voor uw aangezicht uitdrijven de Amorieten, en de Kanaanieten, en de Hethieten, en de Ferezieten, en de Hevieten, en de Jebusieten. 12Wacht u, dat gij toch geen verbond maakt met den inwoners des lands, waarin gij komen zult; dat hij misschien niet tot een strik worde in het midden van u. 13Maar hun altaren zult gijlieden omwerpen, en hun opgerichte beelden zult gij verbreken, en hun bossen zult gij afhouwen. 14(Want gij zult u niet buigen voor een anderen god; want des HEEREN Naam is Ijveraar! een ijverig God is Hij!) 15Opdat gij misschien geen verbond maakt met den inwoner van dat land; en zij hun goden niet nahoereren, noch hun goden offerande doen, en hij u nodigende, gij van hun offerande etet. 16En gij voor uw zonen vrouwen neemt van hun dochteren; en hun dochteren, haar goden nahoererende, maken, dat ook uw zonen haar goden nahoereren. 17Gij zult u geen gegoten goden maken. 18Het feest der ongezuurde broden zult gij houden; zeven dagen zult gij ongezuurde broden eten, gelijk Ik u geboden heb, ter gezetter tijd der maand Abib; want in de maand Abib zijt gij uit Egypte uitgegaan. 19Al wat de baarmoeder opent, is Mijn; ja, al uw vee, dat mannelijk zal geboren worden, openende de baarmoeder van het grote en kleine vee. 20Doch den ezel, die de baarmoeder opent, zult gij met een stuk klein vee lossen; maar indien gij hem niet zult lossen, zo zult gij hem den nek breken. Al de eerstgeborenen uwer zonen zult gij lossen, en men zal voor Mijn aangezicht niet ledig verschijnen. 21Zes dagen zult gij arbeiden, maar op den zevenden dag zult gij rusten; in den ploegtijd en in den oogst zult gij rusten. 22Het feest der weken zult gij ook houden, zijnde het feest der eerstelingen van den tarweoogst, en het feest der inzameling, als het jaar om is. 23Al wat mannelijk is onder u zal driemaal in het jaar verschijnen voor het aangezicht des Heeren HEEREN, den God van Israel. 24Wanneer Ik de volken voor uw aangezicht uit de bezitting zal verdrijven, en uw landpalen verwijden, dan zal niemand uw land begeren, terwijl gij henen opgaan zult, om te verschijnen voor het aangezicht des HEEREN uws Gods, driemaal in het jaar. 25Gij zult het bloed van Mijn slachtoffer niet offeren met gedesemd brood; het slachtoffer van het paasfeest zal ook niet vernachten tot den morgen. 26De eerstelingen van de eerste vruchten uws lands zult gij in het huis des HEEREN uws Gods brengen. Gij zult het bokje in de melk zijner moeder niet koken. 27Verder zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Schrijf u deze woorden; want naar luid dezer woorden heb Ik een verbond met u en met Israel gemaakt. 28En hij was aldaar met den HEERE, veertig dagen en veertig nachten; hij at geen brood, en hij dronk geen water; en Hij schreef op de tafelen de woorden des verbonds, de tien woorden. 29En het geschiedde, toen Mozes van den berg Sinai afging (de twee tafelen der getuigenis nu waren in de hand van Mozes, als hij van den berg afging), zo wist Mozes niet, dat het vel zijns aangezichts glinsterde, toen Hij met hem sprak. 30Als nu Aaron en al de kinderen Israels Mozes aanzagen, ziet, zo glinsterde het vel zijns aangezichts; daarom vreesden zij tot hem toe te treden. 31Toen riep Mozes hen; en Aaron, en al de oversten in de vergadering keerden weder tot hem; en Mozes sprak tot hen. 32En daarna traden al de kinderen Israels toe; en hij gebood hun al wat de HEERE met hem gesproken had op den berg Sinai. 33Alzo eindigde Mozes met hen te spreken, en hij had een deksel op zijn aangezicht gelegd. 34Doch als Mozes voor het aangezicht des HEEREN kwam, om met Hem te spreken, zo nam hij het deksel af, totdat hij uitging; en nadat hij uitgegaan was, zo sprak hij tot de kinderen Israels, wat hem geboden was. 35Zo zagen dan de kinderen Israels het aangezicht van Mozes, dat het vel van het aangezicht van Mozes glinsterde; derhalve deed Mozes het deksel weder op zijn aangezicht, totdat hij inging om met Hem te spreken.
