1EMPERO Jehová había dicho á Abram: Vete de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y de la casa de tu padre, á la tierra que te mostraré; 2Y haré de ti una nación grande, y bendecirte he, y engrandeceré tu nombre, y serás bendición: 3Y bendeciré á los que te bendijeren, y á los que te maldijeren maldeciré: y serán benditas en ti todas las familias de la tierra. 4Y fuése Abram, como Jehová le dijo; y fué con él Lot: y era Abram de edad de setenta y cinco años cuando salió de Harán. 5Y tomó Abram á Sarai su mujer, y á Lot hijo de su hermano, y toda su hacienda que habían ganado, y las almas que habían adquirido en Harán, y salieron para ir á tierra de Canaán; y á tierra de Canaán llegaron. 6Y pasó Abram por aquella tierra hasta el lugar de Sichêm, hasta el valle de Moreh: y el Cananeo estaba entonces en la tierra. 7Y apareció Jehová á Abram, y le dijo: A tu simiente daré esta tierra. Y edificó allí un altar á Jehová, que le había aparecido. 8Y pasóse de allí á un monte al oriente de Bethel, y tendió su tienda, teniendo á Bethel al occidente y Hai al oriente: y edificó allí altar á Jehová, é invocó el nombre de Jehová. 9Y movió Abram de allí, caminando y yendo hacia el Mediodía. 10Y hubo hambre en la tierra, y descendió Abram á Egipto para peregrinar allá; porque era grande el hambre en la tierra. 11Y aconteció que cuando estaba para entrar en Egipto, dijo á Sarai su mujer: He aquí, ahora conozco que eres mujer hermosa de vista; 12Y será que cuando te habrán visto los Egipcios, dirán: Su mujer es: y me matarán á mí, y á ti te reservarán la vida. 13Ahora pues, di que eres mi hermana, para que yo haya bien por causa tuya, y viva mi alma por amor de ti. 14Y aconteció que, como entró Abram en Egipto, los Egipcios vieron la mujer que era hermosa en gran manera. 15Viéronla también los príncipes de Faraón, y se la alabaron; y fué llevada la mujer á casa de Faraón: 16E hizo bien á Abram por causa de ella; y tuvo ovejas, y vacas, y asnos, y siervos, y criadas, y asnas y camellos. 17Mas Jehová hirió á Faraón y á su casa con grandes plagas, por causa de Sarai mujer de Abram. 18Entonces Faraón llamó á Abram, y le dijo: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho conmigo? ¿Por qué no me declaraste que era tu mujer? 19¿Por qué dijiste: Es mi hermana? poniéndome en ocasión de tomarla para mí por mujer? Ahora pues, he aquí tu mujer, tómala y vete. 20Entonces Faraón dió orden á sus gentes acerca de Abram; y le acompañaron, y á su mujer con todo lo que tenía.
1Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you. 2I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.” 4So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran. 5Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came. 6Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land. 7Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your seed.” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him. 8He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on Yahweh’s name. 9Abram traveled, going on still toward the South. 10There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land. 11When he had come near to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at. 12It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive. 13Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.” 14When Abram had come into Egypt, Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. 15The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house. 16He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels. 17Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. 18Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife? 19Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way.” 20Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they brought him on the way with his wife and all that he had.
1De HEERE nu had tot Abram gezegd: Ga gij uit uw land, en uit uw maagschap, en uit uws vaders huis, naar het land, dat Ik u wijzen zal. 2En Ik zal u tot een groot volk maken, en u zegenen, en uw naam groot maken; en wees een zegen! 3En Ik zal zegenen, die u zegenen, en vervloeken, die u vloekt; en in u zullen alle geslachten des aardrijks gezegend worden. 4En Abram toog heen, gelijk de HEERE tot hem gesproken had; en Lot toog met hem; en Abram was vijf en zeventig jaren oud, toen hij uit Haran ging. 5En Abram nam Sarai, zijn huisvrouw, en Lot, zijns broeders zoon, en al hun have, die zij verworven hadden, en de zielen, die zij verkregen hadden in Haran; en zij togen uit, om te gaan naar het land Kanaan, en zij kwamen in het land Kanaan. 6En Abram is doorgetogen in dat land, tot aan de plaats Sichem, tot aan het eikenbos More; en de Kanaanieten waren toen ter tijd in dat land. 7Zo verscheen de HEERE aan Abram, en zeide: Aan uw zaad zal Ik dit land geven. Toen bouwde hij aldaar een altaar den HEERE, Die hem aldaar verschenen was. 8En hij brak op van daar naar het gebergte, tegen het oosten van Beth-El, en hij sloeg zijn tent op, zijnde Beth-El tegen het westen, en Ai tegen het oosten; en hij bouwde aldaar den HEERE een altaar, en riep den naam des HEEREN aan. 9Daarna vertrok Abram, gaande en trekkende naar het zuiden. 10En er was honger in dat land; zo toog Abram af naar Egypte, om daar als een vreemdeling te verkeren, dewijl de honger zwaar was in dat land. 11En het geschiedde, als hij naderde, om in Egypte te komen, dat hij zeide tot Sarai, zijn huisvrouw: Zie toch, ik weet, dat gij een vrouw zijt, schoon van aangezicht. 12En het zal geschieden, als u de Egyptenaars zullen zien, zo zullen zij zeggen: Dat is zijn huisvrouw; en zij zullen mij doden, en u in het leven behouden. 13Zeg toch: Gij zijt mijn zuster; opdat het mij wel ga om u, en mijn ziel om uwentwil leve. 14En het geschiedde, als Abram in Egypte kwam, dat de Egyptenaars deze vrouw zagen, dat zij zeer schoon was. 15Ook zagen haar de vorsten van Farao, en prezen haar bij Farao; en die vrouw werd weggenomen naar het huis van Farao. 16En hij deed Abram goed, om harentwil; zodat hij had schapen, en runderen, en ezelen, en knechten, en maagden, en ezelinnen, en kemelen. 17Maar de HEERE plaagde Farao met grote plagen, ook zijn huis, ter oorzake van Sarai, Abrams huisvrouw. 18Toen riep Farao Abram, en zeide: Wat is dit, dat gij mij gedaan hebt? waarom hebt gij mij niet te kennen gegeven, dat zij uw huisvrouw is? 19Waarom hebt gij gezegd: Zij is mijn zuster; zodat ik haar mij tot een vrouw zoude genomen hebben? en nu, zie, daar is uw huisvrouw; neem haar en ga henen! 20En Farao gebood zijn mannen vanwege hem, en zij geleidden hem, en zijn huisvrouw, en alles wat hij had.
