1Jen Mi sendos Mian anĝelon, kaj li preparos antaŭ Mi la vojon; kaj subite venos en Sian templon la Sinjoro, kiun vi serĉas; kaj la anĝelo de la interligo, kiun vi deziras, jen li iras, diras la Eternulo Cebaot. 2Sed kiu eltenos la tagon de Lia veno? kaj kiu povos stari, kiam Li aperos? Ĉar Li estas kiel la fajro de fandisto, kaj kiel la sapo de la fulistoj. 3Li sidiĝos, por refandi kaj purigi arĝenton, kaj Li purigos la idojn de Levi kaj refandos ilin kiel oron kaj arĝenton, por ke ili alportadu al la Eternulo la donojn kun pieco. 4Tiam al la Eternulo estos agrablaj la oferoj de Jehuda kaj de Jerusalem, kiel en la tempo antikva kaj kiel en la jaroj antaŭaj. 5Kaj Mi venos al vi, por juĝi; kaj Mi estos rapida atestanto kontraŭ la sorĉistoj kaj adultuloj, kontraŭ tiuj, kiuj ĵuras mensoge, kontraŭ tiuj, kiuj estas maljustaj en la pagado al dungito, al vidvino kaj al orfo, kaj kontraŭ tiuj, kiuj forklinas la rajton de fremdulo kaj Min ne timas, diras la Eternulo Cebaot. 6Ĉar Mi, la Eternulo, ne ŝanĝiĝas; kaj vi, ho filoj de Jakob, ne neniiĝos. 7De post la tagoj de viaj patroj vi deturnis vin de Miaj leĝoj kaj ne observas ilin; revenu al Mi, kaj tiam Mi returnos Min al vi, diras la Eternulo Cebaot. Sed vi diras: En kio ni devas reveni? 8Ĉu povas homo ruzi kontraŭ Dio? tamen vi ruzas kontraŭ Mi. Vi diras: En kio ni ruzas kontraŭ Vi? En la dekonaĵo kaj la oferdonoj. 9Sub la malbeno vi ruiniĝas, sed kontraŭ Mi vi ruzas, la tuta popolo. 10Alportu la tutan dekonaĵon en la provizejon, por ke estu manĝaĵo en Mia domo, kaj elprovu Min per tio, diras la Eternulo Cebaot, ĉu Mi ne malfermos al vi la aperturon de la ĉielo kaj ĉu Mi ne verŝos sur vin benon abundan. 11Tiam Mi faros por vi malpermeson al la manĝeganto, ke li ne pereigu al vi la fruktojn de la tero kaj ne senfruktigu al vi la vinberbranĉojn sur la kampo, diras la Eternulo Cebaot. 12Kaj ĉiuj nacioj nomos vin feliĉaj, ĉar vi estos lando ravanta, diras la Eternulo Cebaot. 13Arogantaj estas kontraŭ Mi viaj vortoj, diras la Eternulo. Tamen vi diras: Kion ni parolas kontraŭ Vi? 14Vi parolas: Vane ni servas al Dio: kian profiton ni havas, se ni plenumas Liajn preskribojn kaj se ni iradas senĝoje antaŭ la Eternulo Cebaot? 15Tial ni diras, ke la malbonuloj estas feliĉaj, kaj la malpiuloj estas bone aranĝitaj; ili incitas Dion, sed restas sendifektaj. 16Sed tiuj, kiuj timas la Eternulon, diras al si reciproke: La Eternulo atentas kaj aŭdas, kaj memorlibro estas skribata antaŭ Li pri tiuj, kiuj timas la Eternulon kaj respektas Lian nomon. 17Kaj ili estos Miaj, diras la Eternulo Cebaot, en la tago, kiam Mi aranĝos Mian apartan trezoron; kaj Mi korfavoros ilin, kiel homo korfavoras sian filon, kiu servas al li. 18Kaj vi denove vidos la diferencon inter virtulo kaj malvirtulo, inter tiu, kiu servas al Dio, kaj tiu, kiu ne servas al Li.

1“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, behold, he comes!” says Yahweh of Armies. 2“But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like launderer’s soap; 3and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to Yahweh offerings in righteousness. 4Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to Yahweh, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years. 5I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and don’t fear me,” says Yahweh of Armies. 6“For I, Yahweh, don’t change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed. 7From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of Armies. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’ 8Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In tithes and offerings. 9You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation. 10Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough for. 11I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before its time in the field,” says Yahweh of Armies. 12“All nations shall call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says Yahweh of Armies. 13“Your words have been stout against me,” says Yahweh. “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against you?’ 14You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God;’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed his instructions, and that we have walked mournfully before Yahweh of Armies? 15Now we call the proud happy; yes, those who work wickedness are built up; yes, they tempt God, and escape.’ 16Then those who feared Yahweh spoke one with another; and Yahweh listened, and heard, and a book of memory was written before him, for those who feared Yahweh, and who honored his name. 17They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make, and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him. 18Then you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who doesn’t serve him.

1Ziet, Ik zende Mijn engel, die voor Mijn aangezicht den weg bereiden zal; en snellijk zal tot Zijn tempel komen die Heere, Dien gijlieden zoekt, te weten de Engel des verbonds, aan Denwelken gij lust hebt; ziet, Hij komt, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen. 2Maar wie zal den dag Zijner toekomst verdragen, en wie zal bestaan, als Hij verschijnt? Want Hij zal zijn als het vuur van een goudsmid, en als zeep der vollers. 3En Hij zal zitten, louterende, en het zilver reinigende, en Hij zal de kinderen van Levi reinigen, en Hij zal ze doorlouteren als goud, en als zilver; dan zullen zij den HEERE spijsoffer toebrengen in gerechtigheid. 4Dan zal het spijsoffer van Juda en Jeruzalem den HEERE zoet wezen, als in de oude dagen, en als in de vorige jaren. 5En Ik zal tot ulieden ten oordeel naderen; en Ik zal een snel Getuige zijn tegen de tovenaars, en tegen de overspelers, en tegen degenen, die valselijk zweren, en tegen degenen, die het loon des dagloners met geweld inhouden, die de weduwe, en den wees, en den vreemdeling het recht verkeren, en Mij niet vrezen, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen. 6Want Ik, de HEERE, word niet veranderd; daarom zijt gij, o kinderen Jakobs! niet verteerd. 7Van uwer vaderen dag af, zijt gij afgeweken van Mijn inzettingen, en hebt ze niet bewaard; keert weder tot Mij, en Ik zal tot u wederkeren, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen; maar gij zegt: Waarin zullen wij wederkeren? 8Zal een mens God beroven? Maar gij berooft Mij, en zegt: Waarin beroven wij U? In de tienden en het hefoffer. 9Met een vloek zijt gij vervloekt, omdat gij Mij berooft, zelfs het ganse volk. 10Brengt al de tienden in het schathuis, opdat er spijze zij in Mijn huis; en beproeft Mij nu daarin, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, of Ik u dan niet opendoen zal de vensteren des hemels, en u zegen afgieten, zodat er geen schuren genoeg wezen zullen. 11En Ik zal om uwentwil den opeter schelden, dat hij u de vrucht des lands niet verderve; en de wijnstok op het veld zal u geen misdracht voortbrengen, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen. 12En alle heidenen zullen u gelukzalig noemen; want gijlieden zult een lustig land zijn, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen. 13Uw woorden zijn tegen Mij te sterk geworden, zegt de HEERE; maar gij zegt: Wat hebben wij tegen U gesproken? 14Gij zegt: Het is tevergeefs God te dienen; want wat nuttigheid is het, dat wij Zijn wacht waarnemen, en dat wij in het zwart gaan, voor het aangezicht des HEEREN der heirscharen? 15En nu, wij achten de hoogmoedigen gelukzalig; ook die goddeloosheid doen, worden gebouwd; ook verzoeken zij den HEERE, en ontkomen. 16Alsdan spreken, die den HEERE vrezen, een ieder tot zijn naaste: De HEERE merkt er toch op en hoort, en er is een gedenkboek voor Zijn aangezicht geschreven, voor degenen, die den HEERE vrezen, en voor degenen, die aan Zijn Naam gedenken. 17En zij zullen, zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, te dien dage, dien Ik maken zal, Mij een eigendom zijn; en Ik zal hen verschonen, gelijk als een man zijn zoon verschoont, die hem dient. 18Dan zult gijlieden wederom zien, het onderscheid tussen den rechtvaardige en den goddeloze, tussen dien, die God dient, en dien, die Hem niet dient.
