1Jakobo, servisto de Dio kaj de la Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo, al la dek du triboj, kiuj estas dispelitaj: Saluton! 2Rigardu ĉion kiel ĝojigan, miaj fratoj, kiam vi falas en diversajn tentojn, 3sciante, ke la provado de via fido faras paciencon. 4Kaj la pacienco havu sian perfektan faradon, por ke vi estu perfektaj kaj kompletaj, ne havante mankon. 5Sed se al iu el vi mankas saĝeco, li petu Dion, kiu donacas al ĉiuj malavare kaj ne riproĉas, kaj ĝi estos al li donata. 6Sed li petu en fido, neniel dubante; ĉar la dubanto similas ondon de la maro, ventopelatan kaj skuatan. 7Ĉar tiu homo ne pensu, ke li ricevos ion de la Sinjoro- 8duoblanima homo, ŝanceliĝa en ĉiuj siaj vojoj. 9Sed la malaltranga frato ĝoju pri sia alteco; 10kaj la riĉulo pri sia humiliĝo; ĉar kiel floro de herbo li forpasos. 11Ĉar la suno leviĝas kun la brulvento kaj sekigas la herbon, kaj ĝia floro falas, kaj la gracio de ĝia formo pereas; tiel ankaŭ la riĉulo velkos en siaj vojoj. 12Feliĉa estas la homo, kiu elportas tenton; ĉar kiam li estos elprovita, li ricevos la kronon de vivo, kiun la Sinjoro promesis al tiuj, kiuj lin amas. 13Neniu diru, kiam li estas tentata: Mi estas tentata de Dio; ĉar Dio ne estas tentebla de malbono, kaj Li mem tentas neniun; 14sed ĉiu estas tentata, kiam li estas fortirata de sia dezirado, kaj delogata. 15Tiam la dezirado, gravediĝinte, naskas pekon; kaj la peko, maturiĝinte, naskas morton. 16Ne trompiĝu, miaj amataj fratoj. 17Ĉiu bona donaĵo kaj ĉiu perfekta donaco estas de supre, malsuprenvenante de la Patro de lumoj, ĉe kiu ne povas ekzisti ŝanĝo, nek ombro de sinturnado. 18Laŭ Sia propra volo Li naskis nin per la vorto de la vero, por ke ni estu kvazaŭ unuaaĵo de Liaj kreitaĵoj. 19Tion vi scias, miaj amataj fratoj. Sed ĉiu rapidu aŭdi, malrapidu paroli, malrapidu koleri; 20ĉar la kolero de homo ne efektivigas la justecon de Dio. 21Tial, formetinte ĉian malpurecon kaj superfluon de malico, akceptu kun humileco la enplantitan vorton, kiu povas savi viajn animojn. 22Sed estu plenumantoj de la vorto, kaj ne nur aŭskultantoj, trompantaj vin mem. 23Ĉar se iu estas aŭskultanto de la vorto, kaj ne plenumanto, li similas iun, kiu rigardas sian naturan vizaĝon en spegulo; 24ĉar li sin rigardas kaj foriras, kaj tuj forgesas, kia li estis. 25Sed tiu, kiu fikse rigardas en la perfektan leĝon, la leĝon de libereco, kaj tiel restas, ne estante aŭskultanto, kiu forgesas, sed plenumanto, kiu energias, tiu estos benata en sia faro. 26Se iu ŝajnas al si religia, ne bridante sian langon, sed trompante sian koron, ties religio estas vanta. 27Religio pura kaj senmakula antaŭ nia Dio kaj Patro estas jena: viziti orfojn kaj vidvinojn en ilia mizero, kaj sin gardi sen malpuriĝo de la mondo.
1James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings. 2Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. 6But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. 7For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. 8He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; 10and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away. 11For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in his pursuits. 12Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him. 13Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. 15Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, produces death. 16Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. 18Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. 19So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 20for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God. 21Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; 24for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. 26If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless. 27Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
1Jakobus, een dienstknecht van God en van den Heere Jezus Christus; aan de twaalf stammen, die in de verstrooiing zijn: zaligheid. 2Acht het voor grote vreugde, mijn broeders, wanneer gij in velerlei verzoekingen valt; 3Wetende, dat de beproeving uws geloofs lijdzaamheid werkt. 4Doch de lijdzaamheid hebbe een volmaakt werk, opdat gij moogt volmaakt zijn en geheel oprecht, in geen ding gebrekkelijk. 5En indien iemand van u wijsheid ontbreekt, dat hij ze van God begere, Die een iegelijk mildelijk geeft, en niet verwijt; en zij zal hem gegeven worden. 6Maar dat hij ze begere in geloof, niet twijfelende; want die twijfelt, is een baar der zee gelijk, die van den wind gedreven en op en nedergeworpen wordt. 7Want die mens mene niet, dat hij iets ontvangen zal van den Heere. 8Een dubbelhartig man is ongestadig in al zijn wegen. 9Maar de broeder, die nederig is, roeme in zijn hoogheid. 10En de rijke in zijn vernedering; want hij zal als een bloem van het gras voorbijgaan. 11Want de zon is opgegaan met de hitte, en heeft het gras dor gemaakt, en zijn bloem is afgevallen, en de schone gedaante haars aanschijns is vergaan; alzo zal ook de rijke in zijn wegen verwelken. 12Zalig is de man, die verzoeking verdraagt; want als hij beproefd zal geweest zijn, zal hij de kroon des levens ontvangen, welke de Heere beloofd heeft dengenen, die Hem liefhebben. 13Niemand, als hij verzocht wordt, zegge: Ik word van God verzocht; want God kan niet verzocht worden met het kwade, en Hij Zelf verzoekt niemand. 14Maar een iegelijk wordt verzocht, als hij van zijn eigen begeerlijkheid afgetrokken en verlokt wordt. 15Daarna de begeerlijkheid ontvangen hebbende baart zonde; en de zonde voleindigd zijnde baart den dood. 16Dwaalt niet, mijn geliefde broeders! 17Alle goede gave, en alle volmaakte gifte is van boven, van den Vader der lichten afkomende, bij Welken geen verandering is, of schaduw van omkering. 18Naar Zijn wil heeft Hij ons gebaard door het Woord der waarheid, opdat wij zouden zijn als eerstelingen Zijner schepselen. 19Zo dan, mijn geliefde broeders, een iegelijk mens zij ras om te horen, traag om te spreken, traag tot toorn; 20Want de toorn des mans werkt Gods gerechtigheid niet. 21Daarom, afgelegd hebbende alle vuiligheid en overvloed van boosheid, ontvangt met zachtmoedigheid het Woord, dat in u geplant wordt, hetwelk uw zielen kan zaligmaken. 22En zijt daders des Woords, en niet alleen hoorders, uzelven met valse overlegging bedriegende. 23Want zo iemand een hoorder is des Woords, en niet een dader, die is een man gelijk, welke zijn aangeboren aangezicht bemerkt in een spiegel; 24Want hij heeft zichzelven bemerkt, en is weggegaan, en heeft terstond vergeten, hoedanig hij was. 25Maar die inziet in de volmaakte wet, die der vrijheid is, en daarbij blijft, deze, geen vergetelijk hoorder geworden zijnde, maar een dader des werks, deze, zeg ik, zal gelukzalig zijn in dit zijn doen. 26Indien iemand onder u dunkt, dat hij godsdienstig is, en hij zijn tong niet in toom houdt, maar zijn hart verleidt, dezes godsdienst is ijdel. 27De zuivere en onbevlekte godsdienst voor God en den Vader is deze: wezen en weduwen bezoeken in hun verdrukking, en zichzelven onbesmet bewaren van de wereld.
