1 Timoteo 4

1Sed la Spirito klare diras, ke en la venontaj tempoj kelkaj defalos de la fido, atentante delogantajn spiritojn kaj doktrinojn de demonoj, 2per la hipokriteco de trompantoj, kiuj havas la konsciencon kaŭterizitan kvazaŭ per brule varmega fero, 3admonante ne edziĝi, kaj deteni sin de manĝaĵoj, kiujn Dio kreis por ke ili estu danke ricevitaj de tiuj, kiuj kredas kaj scias la veron. 4Ĉar ĉiu kreitaĵo de Dio estas bona, kaj nenio devas esti forĵetita, se oni ĝin ricevas kun dankesprimo, 5ĉar ĝi estas sanktigita per la parolo de Dio kaj per preĝo. 6Se vi memorigos la fratojn pri tio, vi estos bona servanto de Kristo Jesuo, nutrita per la vortoj de la fido kaj de la bona doktrino, kiun vi jam sekvis; 7sed forrifuzu profanajn kaj avinajn fabelojn. Kaj ekzercu vin al pieco; 8ĉar korpa ekzercado malmulte utilas; sed pieco utilas al ĉio, havante promeson pri la nuna vivo kaj pri la estonta. 9Fidinda estas la diro, kaj inda je plena akcepto. 10Ĉar por tio ni laboras kaj batalas, ĉar ni apogas nian esperon sur la vivantan Dion, kiu estas la Savanto de ĉiuj homoj, precipe de la kredantoj. 11Tion ordonu kaj instruu. 12Neniu malestimu vian junecon, sed vi estu ekzemplo al la kredantoj, per parolo, per konduto, per amo, per fido, per ĉasteco. 13Ĝis mi venos, atentu legadon, konsilon, instruadon. 14Ne malŝatu la donacon, kiu estas en vi, donita al vi per profetado, kun la surmetado de la manoj de la presbiteraro. 15Estu diligenta pri tiuj aferoj; dediĉu vin al ili, por ke via progreso evidentiĝu al ĉiuj. 16Zorgu pri vi mem kaj pri via instruo. Persistu en tio; ĉar, tion farante, vi savos vin mem, kaj tiujn, kiuj vin aŭskultas.

1But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, 2through the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron; 3forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving. 5For it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer. 6If you instruct the brothers of these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which you have followed. 7But refuse profane and old wives’ fables. Exercise yourself toward godliness. 8For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come. 9This saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance. 10For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we have set our trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. 11Command and teach these things. 12Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. 13Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching. 14Don’t neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders. 15Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all. 16Pay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

1Doch de Geest zegt duidelijk, dat in de laatste tijden sommigen zullen afvallen van het geloof, zich begevende tot verleidende geesten, en leringen der duivelen, 2Door geveinsdheid der leugensprekers, hebbende hun eigen geweten als met een brandijzer toegeschroeid; 3Verbiedende te huwelijken, gebiedende van spijzen te onthouden, die God geschapen heeft, tot nuttiging met dankzegging, voor de gelovigen, en die de waarheid hebben bekend. 4Want alle schepsel Gods is goed, en er is niets verwerpelijk, met dankzegging genomen zijnde; 5Want het wordt geheiligd door het Woord van God, en door het gebed. 6Als gij deze dingen den broederen voorstelt, zo zult gij een goed dienaar van Jezus Christus zijn, opgevoed in de woorden des geloofs en der goede leer, welke gij achtervolgd hebt. 7Maar verwerp de ongoddelijke en oudwijfse fabelen; en oefen uzelven tot godzaligheid. 8Want de lichamelijke oefening is tot weinig nut; maar de godzaligheid is tot alle dingen nut, hebbende de belofte des tegenwoordigen en des toekomenden levens. 9Dit is een getrouw woord, en alle aanneming waardig. 10Want hiertoe arbeiden wij ook, en worden versmaad, omdat wij gehoopt hebben op den levenden God, Die een Behouder is aller mensen, maar allermeest der gelovigen. 11Beveel deze dingen, en leer ze. 12Niemand verachte uw jonkheid, maar zijt een voorbeeld der gelovigen in woord, in wandel, in liefde, in den geest, in geloof, in reinheid. 13Houd aan in het lezen, in het vermanen, in het leren, totdat ik kome. 14Verzuim de gave niet, die in u is, die u gegeven is door de profetie, met oplegging der handen des ouderlingschaps. 15Bedenk deze dingen, wees hierin bezig, opdat uw toenemen openbaar zij in alles. 16Heb acht op uzelven en op de leer; volhard daarin; want dat doende, zult gij en uzelven behouden, en die u horen.
