1Συγκαλέσας δε τους δώδεκα μαθητάς αυτού, έδωκεν εις αυτούς δύναμιν και εξουσίαν κατά πάντων των δαιμονίων και να θεραπεύωσι νόσους· 2και απέστειλεν αυτούς διά να κηρύττωσι την βασιλείαν του Θεού και να ιατρεύωσι τους ασθενούντας, 3και είπε προς αυτούς· Μη βαστάζετε μηδέν εις την οδόν, μήτε ράβδους μήτε σακκίον μήτε άρτον μήτε αργύριον μήτε να έχητε ανά δύο χιτώνας. 4Και εις ήντινα οικίαν εισέλθητε, εκεί μένετε και εκείθεν εξέρχεσθε. 5Και όσοι δεν σας δεχθώσιν, εξερχόμενοι από της πόλεως εκείνης αποτινάξατε και τον κονιορτόν από των ποδών σας διά μαρτυρίαν κατ' αυτών. 6Εξερχόμενοι δε διήρχοντο από κώμης εις κώμην, κηρύττοντες το ευαγγέλιον και θεραπεύοντες πανταχού. 7Ήκουσε δε Ηρώδης ο τετράρχης πάντα τα γινόμενα υπ' αυτού, και ήτο εν απορία, διότι ελέγετο υπό τινών ότι ο Ιωάννης ανέστη εκ νεκρών· 8υπό τινών δε ότι ο Ηλίας εφάνη, υπ' άλλων δε, ότι ανέστη εις των αρχαίων προφητών. 9Και είπεν ο Ηρώδης· Τον Ιωάννην εγώ απεκεφάλισα· τις δε είναι ούτος, περί του οποίου εγώ ακούω τοιαύτα; και εζήτει να ίδη αυτόν. 10Και υποστρέψαντες οι απόστολοι, διηγήθησαν προς αυτόν όσα έπραξαν. Και παραλαβών αυτούς απεσύρθη κατ' ιδίαν εις τόπον έρημον πόλεώς τινός ονομαζομένης Βηθσαϊδά. 11Οι δε όχλοι νοήσαντες ηκολούθησαν αυτόν, και δεχθείς αυτούς ελάλει προς αυτούς περί της βασιλείας του Θεού, και τους έχοντας χρείαν θεραπείας ιάτρευεν. 12Η δε ημέρα ήρχισε να κλίνη· και προσελθόντες οι δώδεκα, είπον προς αυτόν· Απόλυσον τον όχλον, διά να υπάγωσιν εις τας πέριξ κώμας και τους αγρούς και να καταλύσωσι και να εύρωσι τροφάς, διότι εδώ είμεθα εν ερήμω τόπω. 13Και είπε προς αυτούς· Δότε σεις εις αυτούς να φάγωσιν. Οι δε είπον· Ημείς δεν έχομεν πλειότερον παρά πέντε άρτους και δύο ιχθύας, εκτός εάν υπάγωμεν ημείς και αγοράσωμεν τροφάς δι' όλον τον λαόν τούτον· 14διότι ήσαν ως πεντακισχίλιοι άνδρες· και είπε προς τους μαθητάς αυτού· Καθίσατε αυτούς κατά αθροίσματα ανά πεντήκοντα. 15Και έπραξαν ούτω, και εκάθησαν άπαντας. 16Λαβών δε τους πέντε άρτους και τους δύο ιχθύας, ανέβλεψεν εις τον ουρανόν και ευλόγησεν αυτούς και κατέκοψε, και έδιδεν εις τους μαθητάς διά να βάλλωσιν έμπροσθεν του όχλου. 17Και έφαγον και εχορτάσθησαν πάντες, και εσηκώθη το περισσεύσαν εις αυτούς εκ των κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνια. 18Και ενώ αυτός προσηύχετο καταμόνας, ήσαν μετ' αυτού οι μαθηταί, και ηρώτησεν αυτούς λέγων· Τίνα με λέγουσιν οι όχλοι ότι είμαι; 19οι δε αποκριθέντες είπον· Ιωάννην τον Βαπτιστήν, άλλοι δε Ηλίαν, άλλοι δε ότι ανέστη τις των αρχαίων προφητών. 20Είπε δε προς αυτούς· Σεις δε τίνα με λέγετε ότι είμαι; και αποκριθείς ο Πέτρος είπε· Τον Χριστόν του Θεού. 21Ο δε προσέταξεν αυτούς σφοδρώς και παρήγγειλε να μη είπωσιν εις μηδένα τούτο, 22ειπών ότι πρέπει ο Υιός του ανθρώπου να πάθη πολλά και να καταφρονηθή από των πρεσβυτέρων και αρχιερέων και γραμματέων, και να θανατωθή και τη τρίτη ημέρα να αναστηθή. 23Έλεγε δε προς πάντας· Εάν τις θέλη να έλθη οπίσω μου, ας απαρνηθή εαυτόν και ας σηκώση τον σταυρόν αυτού καθ' ημέραν και ας με ακολουθή. 24Διότι όστις θέλει να σώση την ζωήν αυτού, θέλει απολέσει αυτήν· και όστις απολέση την ζωήν αυτού ένεκεν ομού, ούτος θέλει σώσει αυτήν. 25Επειδή τι ωφελείται ο άνθρωπος, εάν κερδήση τον κόσμον όλον, εαυτόν δε απολέση ή ζημιωθή; 26Διότι όστις επαισχυνθή δι' εμέ και τους λόγους μου, διά τούτον ο Υιός του ανθρώπου θέλει επαισχυνθή, όταν έλθη εν τη δόξη αυτού και του Πατρός και των αγίων αγγέλων. 27Λέγω δε προς εσάς αληθώς, Είναι τινές των εδώ ισταμένων, οίτινες δεν θέλουσι γευθή θάνατον, εωσού ίδωσι την βασιλείαν του Θεού. 28Μετά δε τους λόγους τούτους παρήλθον έως οκτώ ημέραι, και παραλαβών τον Πέτρον και Ιωάννην και Ιάκωβον, ανέβη εις το όρος διά να προσευχηθή. 29Και ενώ προσηύχετο, ηλλοιώθη η όψις του προσώπου αυτού και τα ιμάτια αυτού έγειναν λευκά εξαστράπτοντα. 30και ιδού, άνδρες δύο συνελάλουν μετ' αυτού, οίτινες ήσαν Μωϋσής και Ηλίας, 31οίτινες φανέντες εν δόξη, έλεγον τον θάνατον αυτού, τον οποίον έμελλε να εκπληρώση εν Ιερουσαλήμ. 32Ο δε Πέτρος και οι μετ' αυτού ήσαν βεβαρημένοι υπό του ύπνου· και ότε εξύπνησαν, είδον την δόξαν αυτού και τους δύο άνδρας τους ισταμένους μετ' αυτού. 33Και ενώ αυτοί εχωρίζοντο απ' αυτού, είπεν ο Πέτρος προς τον Ιησούν· Επιστάτα, καλόν είναι να ήμεθα εδώ· και ας κάμωμεν τρεις σκηνάς, μίαν διά σε και διά τον Μωϋσήν μίαν και μίαν διά τον Ηλίαν, μη εξεύρων τι λέγει. 34Ενώ δε αυτός έλεγε ταύτα, ήλθε νεφέλη και επεσκίασεν αυτούς· και εφοβήθησαν ότε εισήλθον εις την νεφέλην· 35και έγεινε φωνή εκ της νεφέλης, λέγουσα· Ούτος είναι ο Υιός μου ο αγαπητός· αυτού ακούετε. 36Και αφού έγεινεν η φωνή, ευρέθη ο Ιησούς μόνος· και αυτοί εσιώπησαν και προς ουδένα είπον εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις ουδέν εξ όσων είδον. 37Την δε ακόλουθον ημέραν, ότε κατέβησαν από του όρους, υπήντησεν αυτόν όχλος πολύς. 38Και ιδού, άνθρωπός τις εκ του όχλου ανέκραξε, λέγων· Διδάσκαλε, δέομαί σου, επίβλεψον επί τον υιόν μου, διότι μονογενής μου είναι· 39και ιδού, δαιμόνιον πιάνει αυτόν, και εξαίφνης κράζει και σπαράττει αυτόν μετά αφρού, και μόλις αναχωρεί απ' αυτού, συντρίβον αυτόν· 40και παρεκάλεσα τους μαθητάς σου διά να εκβάλωσιν αυτό, και δεν ηδυνήθησαν. 41Αποκριθείς δε ο Ιησούς, είπεν· Ω γενεά άπιστος και διεστραμμένη, έως πότε θέλω είσθαι μεθ' υμών και θέλω υπομένει υμάς; φέρε τον υιόν σου εδώ. 42Και ενώ αυτός έτι προσήρχετο, έρριψεν αυτόν κάτω το δαιμόνιον και κατεσπάραξεν· ο δε Ιησούς επετίμησε το πνεύμα το ακάθαρτον και ιάτρευσε το παιδίον και απέδωκεν αυτό εις τον πατέρα αυτού. 43Εξεπλήττοντο δε πάντες επί την μεγαλειότητα του Θεού. Και ενώ πάντες εθαύμαζον διά πάντα όσα έκαμεν ο Ιησούς, είπε προς τους μαθητάς αυτού· 44Βάλετε σεις εις τα ώτα σας τους λόγους τούτους· διότι ο Υιός του ανθρώπου μέλλει να παραδοθή εις χείρας ανθρώπων. 45Εκείνοι όμως δεν ενόουν τον λόγον τούτον, και ήτο αποκεκρυμμένος απ' αυτών, διά να μη νοήσωσιν αυτόν, και εφοβούντο να ερωτήσωσιν αυτόν περί του λόγου τούτου. 46Εισήλθε δε εις αυτούς διαλογισμός, τις τάχα εξ αυτών ήτο μεγαλήτερος. 47Ο δε Ιησούς, ιδών τον διαλογισμόν της καρδίας αυτών, επίασε παιδίον και έστησεν αυτό πλησίον εαυτού 48και είπε προς αυτούς· Όστις δεχθή τούτο το παιδίον εις το όνομά μου, εμέ δέχεται, και όστις δεχθή εμέ, δέχεται τον αποστείλαντά με· διότι ο υπάρχων μικρότερος μεταξύ πάντων υμών ούτος θέλει είσθαι μέγας. 49Αποκριθείς δε ο Ιωάννης, είπεν· Επιστάτα, είδομέν τινά εκβάλλοντα τα δαιμόνια εν τω ονόματί σου, και ημποδίσαμεν αυτόν, διότι δεν ακολουθεί μεθ' ημών. 50Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Μη εμποδίζετε· διότι όστις δεν είναι καθ' ημών, είναι υπέρ ημών. 51Και ότε συνεπληρούντο αι ημέραι διά να αναληφθή, τότε αυτός έκαμε στερεάν απόφασιν να υπάγη εις Ιερουσαλήμ. 52Και απέστειλεν έμπροσθεν αυτού μηνυτάς, οίτινες πορευθέντες εισήλθον εις κώμην Σαμαρειτών, διά να κάμωσιν ετοιμασίαν εις αυτόν. 53Και δεν εδέχθησαν αυτόν, διότι εφαίνετο ότι επορεύετο εις Ιερουσαλήμ. 54Ιδόντες δε οι μαθηταί αυτού Ιάκωβος και Ιωάννης, είπον· Κύριε, θέλεις να είπωμεν να καταβή πυρ από του ουρανού και να αφανίση αυτούς, καθώς και ο Ηλίας έκαμε; 55Στραφείς δε επέπληξεν αυτούς και είπε· δεν εξεύρετε ποίου πνεύματος είσθε σείς· 56διότι ο Υιός του ανθρώπου δεν ήλθε να απολέση ψυχάς ανθρώπων, αλλά να σώση. Και υπήγον εις άλλην κώμην. 57Ενώ δε επορεύοντο, είπε τις προς αυτόν καθ' οδόν· Θέλω σε ακολουθήσει όπου αν υπάγης, Κύριε. 58Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Αι αλώπεκες έχουσι φωλεάς και τα πετεινά του ουρανού κατοικίας, ο δε Υιός του ανθρώπου δεν έχει που να κλίνη την κεφαλήν. 59Είπε δε προς άλλον· Ακολούθει μοι. Ο δε είπε· Κύριε, συγχώρησόν μοι να υπάγω πρώτον να θάψω τον πατέρα μου. 60Και ο Ιησούς είπε προς αυτόν· Άφες τους νεκρούς να θάψωσι τους εαυτών νεκρούς· συ δε απελθών κήρυττε την βασιλείαν του Θεού. 61Είπε δε και άλλος· θέλω σε ακολουθήσει, Κύριε· πρώτον όμως συγχώρησόν μοι να αποχαιρετήσω τους εις τον οίκόν μου. 62Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Ουδείς βαλών την χείρα αυτού επί άροτρον και βλέπων εις τα οπίσω είναι αρμόδιος διά την βασιλείαν του Θεού.
1He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2He sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey—neither staffs, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats apiece. 4Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there. 5As many as don’t receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them.” 6They departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News, and healing everywhere. 7Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead, 8and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again. 9Herod said, “John I beheaded, but who is this, about whom I hear such things?” He sought to see him. 10The apostles, when they had returned, told him what things they had done. He took them, and withdrew apart to a deserted place of a city called Bethsaida. 11But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, and spoke to them of the Kingdom of God, and he cured those who needed healing. 12The day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said to him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place.” 13But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people.” 14For they were about five thousand men. He said to his disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15They did so, and made them all sit down. 16He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he blessed them, and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17They ate, and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over. 18As he was praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do the multitudes say that I am?” 19They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’ but others say, ‘Elijah,’ and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.” 20He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.” 21But he warned them, and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.” 23He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross,and follow me. 24For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it. 25For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self? 26For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels. 27But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here, who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Kingdom of God.” 28About eight days after these sayings, he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray. 29As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling. 30Behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him. 33As they were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing what he said. 34While he said these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud. 35A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!” 36When the voice came, Jesus was found alone. They were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen. 37On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him. 38Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. 39Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams, and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely. 40I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they couldn’t.” 41Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” 42While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 43They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 44“Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.” 45But they didn’t understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying. 46There arose an argument among them about which of them was the greatest. 47Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their hearts, took a little child, and set him by his side, 48and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.” 49John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow with us.” 50Jesus said to him, “Don’t forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us.” 51It came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52and sent messengers before his face. They went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, so as to prepare for him. 53They didn’t receive him, because he was traveling with his face set towards Jerusalem. 54When his disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from the sky, and destroy them, just as Elijah did?” 55But he turned and rebuked them, “You don’t know of what kind of spirit you are. 56For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” They went to another village. 57As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, “I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord.” 58Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59He said to another, “Follow me!” But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” 60But Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce the Kingdom of God.” 61Another also said, “I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say good-bye to those who are at my house.” 62But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.”
1En Zijn twaalf discipelen samengeroepen hebbende, gaf Hij hun kracht en macht over al de duivelen, en om ziekten te genezen. 2En Hij zond hen heen, om te prediken het Koninkrijk Gods, en de kranken gezond te maken. 3En Hij zeide tot hen: Neemt niets mede tot den weg, noch staven, noch male, noch brood, noch geld; noch iemand van u zal twee rokken hebben. 4En in wat huis gij ook zult ingaan, blijft aldaar, en gaat van daar uit. 5En zo wie u niet zullen ontvangen, uitgaande van die stad, schudt ook het stof af van uw voeten, tot een getuigenis tegen hen. 6En zij, uitgaande, doorgingen al de vlekken, verkondigende het Evangelie, en genezende de zieken overal. 7En Herodes, de viervorst, hoorde al de dingen, die van Hem geschiedden; en was twijfelmoedig, omdat van sommigen gezegd werd, dat Johannes van de doden was opgestaan; 8En van sommigen, dat Elias verschenen was; en van anderen, dat een profeet van de ouden was opgestaan. 9En Herodes zeide: Johannes heb ik onthoofd; wie is nu Deze, van Welken ik zulke dingen hoor? En hij zocht Hem te zien. 10En de apostelen, wedergekeerd zijnde, verhaalden Hem al wat zij gedaan hadden. En Hij nam hen mede en vertrok alleen in een woeste plaats der stad, genaamd Bethsaida. 11En de scharen, dat verstaande, volgden Hem; en Hij ontving ze, en sprak tot hen van het Koninkrijk Gods; en die genezing van node hadden, maakte Hij gezond. 12En de dag begon te dalen; en de twaalven, tot Hem komende, zeiden tot Hem: Laat de schare van U, opdat zij, heengaande in de omliggende vlekken en in de dorpen, herberg nemen mogen, en spijze vinden; want wij zijn hier in een woeste plaats. 13Maar Hij zeide tot hen: Geeft gij hun te eten. En zij zeiden: Wij hebben niet meer dan vijf broden, en twee vissen; tenzij dan dat wij heengaan en spijs kopen voor al dit volk; 14Want er waren omtrent vijf duizend mannen. Doch Hij zeide tot Zijn discipelen: Doet hen nederzitten bij zaten, elk van vijftig. 15En zij deden alzo, en deden hen allen nederzitten. 16En Hij, de vijf broden en de twee vissen genomen hebbende, zag op naar den hemel, en zegende die, en brak ze, en gaf ze den discipelen, om der schare voor te leggen. 17En zij aten en werden allen verzadigd; en er werd opgenomen, hetgeen hun van de brokken overgeschoten was, twaalf korven. 18En het geschiedde, als Hij alleen was biddende, dat de discipelen met Hem waren, en Hij vraagde hen, zeggende: Wie zeggen de scharen, dat Ik ben? 19En zij, antwoordende, zeiden: Johannes de Doper; en anderen: Elias; en anderen: Dat enig profeet van de ouden opgestaan is. 20En Hij zeide tot hen: Maar gijlieden, wie zegt gij, dat Ik ben? En Petrus, antwoordende, zeide: De Christus Gods. 21En Hij gebood hun scherpelijk en beval, dat zij dit niemand zeggen zouden; 22Zeggende: De Zoon des mensen moet veel lijden, en verworpen worden van de ouderlingen, en overpriesters, en Schriftgeleerden, en gedood en ten derden dage opgewekt worden. 23En Hij zeide tot allen: Zo iemand achter Mij wil komen, die verloochene zichzelven, en neme zijn kruis dagelijks op, en volge Mij. 24Want zo wie zijn leven behouden wil, die zal het verliezen; maar zo wie zijn leven verliezen zal, om Mijnentwil, die zal het behouden. 25Want wat baat het een mens, die de gehele wereld zou winnen, en zichzelven verliezen, of schade zijns zelfs lijden? 26Want zo wie zich Mijns en Mijner woorden zal geschaamd hebben, diens zal de Zoon des mensen Zich schamen, wanneer Hij komen zal in Zijn heerlijkheid, en in de heerlijkheid des Vaders, en der heilige engelen. 27En Ik zeg u waarlijk: Er zijn sommigen dergenen, die hier staan, die den dood niet zullen smaken, totdat zij het Koninkrijk Gods zullen gezien hebben. 28En het geschiedde, omtrent acht dagen na deze woorden, dat Hij medenam Petrus, en Johannes, en Jakobus, en klom op den berg, om te bidden. 29En als Hij bad, werd de gedaante Zijns aangezichts veranderd, en Zijn kleding wit en zeer blinkende. 30En ziet, twee mannen spraken met Hem, welke waren Mozes en Elias. 31Dewelke, gezien zijnde in heerlijkheid, zeiden Zijn uitgang, dien Hij zoude volbrengen te Jeruzalem. 32Petrus nu, en die met hem waren, waren met slaap bezwaard; en ontwaakt zijnde, zagen zij Zijn heerlijkheid, en de twee mannen, die bij Hem stonden. 33En het geschiedde, als zij van Hem afscheidden, zo zeide Petrus tot Jezus: Meester, het is goed, dat wij hier zijn; en laat ons drie tabernakelen maken, voor U een, en voor Mozes een, en voor Elias een; niet wetende, wat hij zeide. 34Als hij nu dit zeide, kwam een wolk, en overschaduwde hen; en zij werden bevreesd, als die in de wolk ingingen. 35En er geschiedde een stem uit de wolk, zeggende: Deze is Mijn geliefde Zoon; hoort Hem! 36En als de stem geschiedde, zo werd Jezus alleen gevonden. Breng uw zoon hier. 42En nog, als hij naar Hem toekwam, scheurde hem de duivel, en verscheurde hem; maar Jezus bestrafte den onreinen geest, en maakte het kind gezond, en gaf hem zijn vader weder. 43En zij werden allen verslagen over de grootdadigheid Gods. En als zij allen zich verwonderden over al de dingen, die Jezus gedaan had, zeide Hij tot Zijn discipelen: 44Legt gij deze woorden in uw oren: Want de Zoon des mensen zal overgeleverd worden in der mensen handen. 45Maar zij verstonden dit woord niet, en het was voor hen verborgen, alzo dat zij het niet begrepen; en zij vreesden van dat woord Hem te vragen. 46En er rees een overlegging onder hen, namelijk, wie van hen de meeste ware. 47Maar Jezus, ziende de overleggingen hunner harten, nam een kindeken, en stelde dat bij Zich; 48En zeide tot hen: Zo wie dit kindeken ontvangen zal in Mijn Naam, die ontvangt Mij; en zo wie Mij ontvangen zal, ontvangt Hem, Die Mij gezonden heeft. Want die de minste onder u allen is, die zal groot zijn. 49En Johannes antwoordde en zeide: Meester! wij hebben een gezien, die in Uw Naam de duivelen uitwierp, en wij hebben het hem verboden, omdat hij U met ons niet volgt. 50En Jezus zeide tot hem: Verbied het niet; want wie tegen ons niet is, die is voor ons. 51En het geschiedde, als de dagen Zijner opneming vervuld werden, zo richtte Hij Zijn aangezicht, om naar Jeruzalem te reizen. 52En Hij zond boden uit voor Zijn aangezicht; en zij, heengereisd zijnde, kwamen in een vlek der Samaritanen, om voor Hem herberg te bereiden. 53En zij ontvingen Hem niet, omdat Zijn aangezicht was als reizende naar Jeruzalem. 54Als nu Zijn discipelen, Jakobus en Johannes, dat zagen, zeiden zij: Heere, wilt Gij, dat wij zeggen, dat vuur van den hemel nederdale, en dezen verslinde, gelijk ook Elias gedaan heeft? 55Maar Zich omkerende, bestrafte Hij hen, en zeide: Gij weet niet van hoedanigen geest gij zijt. 56Want de Zoon des mensen is niet gekomen om der mensen zielen te verderven, maar om te behouden. En zij gingen naar een ander vlek. 57En het geschiedde op den weg, als zij reisden, dat een tot Hem zeide: Heere, ik zal U volgen, waar Gij ook heengaat. 58En Jezus zeide tot hem: De vossen hebben holen, en de vogelen des hemels nesten; maar de Zoon des mensen heeft niet, waar Hij het hoofd nederlegge. 59En Hij zeide tot een anderen: Volg Mij. Doch hij zeide: Heere, laat mij toe, dat ik heenga, en eerst mijn vader begrave. 60Maar Jezus zeide tot hem: Laat de doden hun doden begraven; doch gij, ga heen en verkondig het Koninkrijk Gods. 61En ook een ander zeide: Heere, ik zal U volgen; maar laat mij eerst toe, dat ik afscheid neme van degenen, die in mijn huis zijn. 62En Jezus zeide tot hem: Niemand, die zijn hand aan den ploeg slaat, en ziet naar hetgeen achter is, is bekwaam tot het Koninkrijk Gods.
