1Εις τούτο έτι η καρδία μου τρέμει και εκπηδά από του τόπου αυτής. 2Ακούσατε προσεκτικώς την τρομεράν φωνήν αυτού και τον ήχον τον εξερχόμενον εκ του στόματος αυτού. 3Αποστέλλει αυτήν υποκάτω παντός του ουρανού και το φως αυτού επί τα έσχατα της γης. 4Κατόπιν αυτού βοά φωνή· βροντά με την φωνήν της μεγαλωσύνης αυτού· και δεν θέλει στήσει αυτά, αφού η φωνή αυτού ακουσθή. 5Ο Θεός βροντά θαυμασίως με την φωνήν αυτού· κάμνει μεγαλεία, και δεν εννοούμεν. 6Διότι λέγει προς την χιόνα, γίνου επί την γήν· και προς την ψεκάδα και προς τον υετόν της δυνάμεως αυτού. 7Κατασφραγίζει την χείρα παντός ανθρώπου· διά να γνωρίσωσι πάντες οι άνθρωποι το έργον αυτού. 8Τότε τα θηρία εισέρχονται εις τα σπήλαια και κατασκηνούσιν εν τοις τόποις αυτών. 9Εκ του νότου έρχεται ο ανεμοστρόβιλος, και το ψύχος εκ του βορρά. 10Εκ του φυσήματος του Θεού δίδεται πάγος· και το πλάτος των υδάτων στερεούται. 11Πάλιν η γαλήνη διασκεδάζει την νεφέλην· το φως αυτού διασκορπίζει τα νέφη· 12και αυτά περιφέρονται κύκλω υπό τας οδηγίας αυτού, διά να κάμνωσι παν ό,τι προστάζει εις αυτά επί το πρόσωπον της οικουμένης· 13κάμνει αυτά να έρχωνται, ή διά παιδείαν, ή διά την γην αυτού, ή διά έλεος. 14Ακροάσθητι τούτο, Ιώβ· στάθητι και συλλογίσθητι τα θαυμάσια του Θεού. 15Εννοείς πως ο Θεός διατάττει αυτά, και κάμνει να λάμπη το φως της νεφέλης αυτού; 16Εννοείς τα ζυγοσταθμίσματα των νεφών, τα θαυμάσια του τελείου κατά την γνώσιν; 17Διά τι τα ενδύματά σου είναι θερμά, όταν αναπαύη την γην διά του νότου; 18Εξήπλωσας μετ' αυτού το στερέωμα το δυνατόν ως κάτοπτρον χυτόν; 19Δίδαξον ημάς τι να είπωμεν προς αυτόν· ημείς δεν δυνάμεθα να διατάξωμεν τους λόγους ημών εξ αιτίας του σκότους. 20Θέλει αναγγελθή προς αυτόν, εάν εγώ λαλώ; εάν λαλήση άνθρωπος, βεβαίως θέλει καταποθή. 21Τώρα δε οι άνθρωποι δεν δύνανται να ατενίσωσιν εις το λαμπρόν φως, το εν τω στερεώματι, αφού ο άνεμος περάση και καθαρίση αυτό, 22και χρυσαυγής καιρός έλθη από βορρά. Φοβερά δόξα υπάρχει εν τω Θεώ. 23Τον Παντοδύναμον, δεν δυνάμεθα να εννοήσωμεν αυτόν· είναι υπέροχος κατά την δύναμιν και κατά την κρίσιν και κατά το πλήθος της δικαιοσύνης, δεν καταθλίβει. 24Διά τούτο οι άνθρωποι φοβούνται αυτόν· ουδείς σοφός την καρδίαν δύναται να εννοήση αυτόν.
1“Yes, at this my heart trembles, and is moved out of its place. 2Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice, the sound that goes out of his mouth. 3He sends it out under the whole sky, and his lightning to the ends of the earth. 4After it a voice roars. He thunders with the voice of his majesty. He doesn’t hold back anything when his voice is heard. 5God thunders marvelously with his voice. He does great things, which we can’t comprehend. 6For he says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth;’ likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of his mighty rain. 7He seals up the hand of every man, that all men whom he has made may know it. 8Then the animals take cover, and remain in their dens. 9Out of its room comes the storm, and cold out of the north. 10By the breath of God, ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is frozen. 11Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture. He spreads abroad the cloud of his lightning. 12It is turned around by his guidance, that they may do whatever he commands them on the surface of the habitable world, 13Whether it is for correction, or for his land, or for loving kindness, that he causes it to come. 14“Listen to this, Job. Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. 15Do you know how God controls them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine? 16Do you know the workings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge? 17You whose clothing is warm, when the earth is still by reason of the south wind? 18Can you, with him, spread out the sky, which is strong as a cast metal mirror? 19Teach us what we shall tell him, for we can’t make our case by reason of darkness. 20Shall it be told him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up? 21Now men don’t see the light which is bright in the skies, but the wind passes, and clears them. 22Out of the north comes golden splendor. With God is awesome majesty. 23We can’t reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power. In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress. 24Therefore men revere him. He doesn’t regard any who are wise of heart.”
1Ook beeft hierover mijn hart, en springt op uit zijn plaats. 2Hoort met aandacht de beweging Zijner stem, en het geluid, dat uit Zijn mond uitgaat! 3Dat zendt Hij rechtuit onder den gansen hemel, en Zijn licht over de einden der aarde. 4Daarna brult Hij met de stem; Hij dondert met de stem Zijner hoogheid, en vertrekt die dingen niet, als Zijn stem zal gehoord worden. 5God dondert met Zijn stem zeer wonderlijk; Hij doet grote dingen, en wij begrijpen ze niet. 6Want Hij zegt tot de sneeuw: Wees op de aarde; en tot den plasregens des regens; dan is er de plasregen Zijner sterke regenen. 7Dan zegelt Hij de hand van ieder mens toe, opdat Hij kenne al de lieden Zijns werks. 8En het gedierte gaat in de loerplaatsen, en blijft in zijn holen. 9Uit de binnenkamer komt de wervelwind, en van de verstrooiende winden de koude. 10Door zijn geblaas geeft God de vorst, zodat de brede wateren verstijfd worden. 11Ook vermoeit Hij de dikke wolken door klaarheid; Hij verstrooit de wolk Zijns lichts. 12Die keert zich dan naar Zijn wijzen raad door ommegangen, dat zij doen al wat Hij ze gebiedt, op het vlakke der wereld, op de aarde. 13Hetzij dat Hij die tot een roede, of tot Zijn land, of tot weldadigheid beschikt. 14Neem dit, o Job, ter ore; sta, en aanmerk de wonderen Gods. 15Weet gij, wanneer God over dezelve orde stelt, en het licht Zijner wolk laat schijnen? 16Hebt gij wetenschap van de opwegingen der dikke wolken; de wonderheden Desgenen, Die volmaakt is in wetenschappen? 17Hoe uw klederen warm worden, als Hij de aarde stil maakt uit het zuiden? 18Hebt gij met Hem de hemelen uitgespannen, die vast zijn, als een gegoten spiegel? 19Onderricht ons, wat wij Hem zeggen zullen; want wij zullen niets ordentelijk voorstellen kunnen vanwege de duisternis. 20Zal het Hem verteld worden, als ik zo zou spreken? Denkt iemand dat, gewisselijk, hij zal verslonden worden. 21En nu ziet men het licht niet als het helder is in den hemel, als de wind doorgaat, en dien zuivert; 22Als van het noorden het goud komt; maar bij God is een vreselijke majesteit! 23Den Almachtige, Dien kunnen wij niet uitvinden; Hij is groot van kracht; doch door gericht en grote gerechtigheid verdrukt Hij niet. 24Daarom vreze Hem de lieden; Hij ziet geen wijzen van harte aan.
