Ωσηέ 4

1Ακούσατε τον λόγον του Κυρίου, υιοί Ισραήλ· διότι ο Κύριος έχει κρίσιν μετά των κατοίκων της γης, επειδή δεν υπάρχει αλήθεια ουδέ έλεος ουδέ γνώσις Θεού επί της γης. 2Επιορκία και ψεύδος και φόνος και κλοπή και μοιχεία επλημμύρησαν, και αίματα εγγίζουσιν επί αίματα. 3Διά τούτο θέλει πενθήσει η γη, και πας ο κατοικών εν αυτή θέλει λιποψυχήσει, μετά των θηρίων του αγρού και μετά των πετεινών του ουρανού· έτι και οι ιχθύες της θαλάσσης θέλουσιν εκλείψει. 4Πλην ας μη αντιλέγη μηδείς μηδ' ας ελέγχη τον άλλον· διότι ο λαός σου είναι ως οι αντιλέγοντες εις τον ιερέα. 5Διά τούτο θέλεις ολισθήσει την ημέραν, και μετά σου θέλει ολισθήσει και ο προφήτης την νύκτα, και θέλω αφανίσει την μητέρα σου. 6Ο λαός μου ηφανίσθη δι' έλλειψιν γνώσεως· επειδή συ απέρριψας την γνώσιν και εγώ απέρριψα σε από του να ιερατεύης εις εμέ· επειδή ελησμόνησας τον νόμον του Θεού σου, και εγώ θέλω λησμονήσει τα τέκνα σου. 7Καθώς επλήθυναν, ούτως ημάρτησαν εις εμέ· την δόξαν αυτών εις ατιμίαν θέλω μεταβάλει. 8Τρώγουσι τας αμαρτίας του λαού μου και έχουσι προσηλωμένην την ψυχήν αυτών εις την ανομίαν αυτών. 9Διά τούτο θέλει είσθαι, καθώς ο λαός, ούτω και ο ιερεύς· και θέλω επισκεφθή επ' αυτούς τας οδούς αυτών και ανταποδώσει εις αυτούς τας πράξεις αυτών. 10Διότι θέλουσι τρώγει και δεν θέλουσι χορτάζεσθαι, θέλουσι πορνεύει και δεν θέλουσι πληθύνεσθαι· επειδή εγκατέλιπον το να λατρεύωσι τον Κύριον. 11Πορνεία και οίνος και μέθη αφαιρούσι την καρδίαν. 12Ο λαός μου ερωτά τα ξύλα αυτού, και η ράβδος αυτού αποκρίνεται προς αυτόν· διότι το πνεύμα της πορνείας επλάνησεν αυτούς και επόρνευσαν εκκλίνοντες από του Θεού αυτών. 13Θυσιάζουσιν επί τας κορυφάς των ορέων και θυμιάζουσιν επί τους λόφους, υπό τας δρυς και λεύκας και τερεβίνθους, διότι η σκιά αυτών είναι καλή διά τούτο αι θυγατέρες σας θέλουσι πορνεύσει και αι νύμφαι σας θέλουσι μοιχεύσει. 14Δεν θέλω τιμωρήσει τας θυγατέρας σας όταν πορνεύσωσιν ουδέ τας νύμφας σας όταν μοιχεύσωσι, διότι αυτοί αποχωρίζονται μετά των πορνών και θυσιάζουσι μετά των ασελγών· διά τούτο ο λαός ο ασύνετος θέλει κατακρημνισθή. 15Εάν συ, Ισραήλ, πορνεύης, τουλάχιστον ας μη ανομήση ο Ιούδας· μη υπάγετε λοιπόν εις Γάλγαλα μηδ' αναβαίνετε εις Βαιθ-αυέν μηδέ ομνύετε, Ζη ο Κύριος. 16Διότι ο Ισραήλ απεσκίρτησεν ως δάμαλις αποσκιρτώσα· τώρα θέλει βοσκήσει αυτούς ο Κύριος ως αρνία εν τόπω πλατεί. 17Ο Εφραΐμ προσεκολλήθη εις τα είδωλα· αφήσατε αυτόν. 18Το ποτόν αυτών ωξύνισεν· όλως εδόθησαν εις την πορνείαν· οι υπερασπισταί αυτής ω της αισχύνης, αγαπώσι το Δότε. 19Ο άνεμος θέλει συσφίγξει αυτήν εν ταις πτέρυξιν αυτού, και θέλουσι καταισχυνθή διά τας θυσίας αυτών.

1Hear Yahweh’s word, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed. 3Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells therein will waste away. all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die. 4“Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; For your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. 5You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother. 6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children. 7As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame. 8They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity. 9It will be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds. 10They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned giving to Yahweh. 11Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding. 12My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God. 13They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your brides commit adultery. 14I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin. 15“Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don’t let Judah offend; and don’t come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven, nor swear, ‘As Yahweh lives.’ 16For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow. 17Ephraim is joined to idols. Leave him alone! 18Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way. 19The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be disappointed because of their sacrifices.

1Hoort des HEEREN woord, gij kinderen Israels! want de HEERE heeft een twist met de inwoners des lands, omdat er geen trouw, en geen weldadigheid, en geen kennis van God in het land is; 2Maar vloeken en liegen, en doodslaan, en stelen, en overspel doen; zij breken door, en bloedschulden raken aan bloedschulden. 3Daarom zal het land treuren, en een iegelijk, die daarin woont, kwelen, met het gedierte des velds, en met het gevogelte des hemels; ja, ook de vissen der zee zullen weggeraapt worden. 4Doch niemand twiste noch bestraffe iemand; want uw volk is als die met den priester twisten. 5Daarom zult gij vallen bij dag, ja, zelfs de profeet zal met u vallen bij nacht; en Ik zal uw moeder uitroeien. 6Mijn volk is uitgeroeid, omdat het zonder kennis is; dewijl gij de kennis verworpen hebt, heb Ik u ook verworpen, dat gij Mij het priesterambt niet zult bedienen; dewijl gij de wet uws Gods vergeten hebt, zal Ik ook uw kinderen vergeten. 7Gelijk zij meerder geworden zijn, alzo hebben zij tegen Mij gezondigd; Ik zal hunlieder eer in schande veranderen. 8Zij eten de zonde Mijns volks, en verlangen, een ieder met zijn ziel, naar hun ongerechtigheid. 9Daarom, gelijk het volk, alzo zal de priester zijn; en Ik zal zijn wegen over hem bezoeken, en zijn handelingen hem vergelden. 10En zij zullen eten, maar niet zat worden, zullen hoereren, maar niet uitbreken in menigte; want zij hebben nagelaten den HEERE in acht te nemen. 11Hoererij, en wijn, en most neemt het hart weg. 12Mijn volk vraagt zijn hout, en zijn stok zal het hem bekend maken; want de geest der hoererijen verleidt hen, dat zij van onder hun God weghoereren. 13Op de hoogten der bergen offeren zij, en op de heuvelen roken zij, onder een eik, en populier, en iepeboom, omdat derzelver schaduw goed is; daarom hoereren uw dochteren, en uw bruiden bedrijven overspel. 14Ik zal over uw dochteren geen bezoeking doen, omdat zij hoereren, en over uw bruiden, omdat zij overspel doen; want zij zelven scheiden zich af met de hoeren, en offeren met de snoodste hoeren; het volk dan, dat geen verstand heeft zal omgekeerd worden. 15Zo gij, o Israel! wilt hoereren, dat immers Juda niet schuldig worde; komt gij toch niet te Gilgal, en gaat niet op naar Beth-Aven, en zweert niet: Zo waarachtig als de HEERE leeft. 16Want Israel is onbandig, als een onbandige koe; nu zal hen de HEERE weiden, als een lam in de ruimte. 17Efraim is vergezeld met de afgoden; laat hem varen. 18Hunlieder zuiperij is afvallig; zij doen niet dan hoereren; hun schilden (het is een schande!) beminnen het woord: Geeft. 19Een wind heeft hen gebonden in zijn vleugelen, en zij zullen beschaamd worden vanwege hun offeranden.
