1A mluvila Maria i Aron proti Mojžíšovi příčinou manželky Madianky, kterouž sobě vzal; nebo byl pojal manželku Madianku. 2A řekli: Zdaliž jen toliko skrze Mojžíše mluvil Hospodin? Zdaž také nemluvil skrze nás? I slyšel to Hospodin. 3(Byl pak Mojžíš člověk nejtišší ze všech lidí, kteříž byli na tváři země.) 4A i hned řekl Hospodin Mojžíšovi a Aronovi i Marii: Vyjděte vy tři k stánku úmluvy. I vyšli toliko oni tři. 5Tedy sstoupil Hospodin v sloupu oblakovém, a stál u dveří stánku. I zavolal Arona a Marie, a vyšli oba dva. 6Jimž řekl: Slyšte nyní slova má: Prorok když jest mezi vámi, já Hospodin u vidění ukáži se jemu, ve snách mluviti budu s ním. 7Ale není takový služebník můj Mojžíš, kterýž ve všem domě mém věrný jest. 8Ústy k ústům mluvím s ním, ne u vidění, ani v zavinutí, a podobnost Hospodinovu spatřuje. Pročež jste tedy neostýchali se mluviti proti služebníku mému Mojžíšovi? 9I roznícena jest prchlivost Hospodinova na ně, a odšel. 10Oblak také zdvihl se s stánku. A aj, Maria byla malomocná, bílá jako sníh. A pohleděl Aron na Marii, ana malomocná. 11Tedy řekl Aron Mojžíšovi: Poslyš mne, pane můj, prosím, nevzkládej na nás té pokuty za hřích ten, jehož jsme se bláznivě dopustili, a jímž jsme zhřešili. 12Prosím, ať není tato jako mrtvý plod, kterýž když vychází z života matky své, polovici těla jeho zkaženého bývá. 13I volal Mojžíš k Hospodinu, řka: Ó Bože silný, prosím, uzdraviž ji. 14Odpověděl Hospodin Mojžíšovi: Kdyby otec její plinul jí na tvář, zdaž by se nemusila styděti za sedm dní? Protož ať jest vyobcována ven z stanů za sedm dní, a potom zase uvedena bude. 15Tedy vyloučena jest Maria ven z stanů za sedm dní; a lid nehnul se odtud, až zase uvedena jest Maria. 16Potom pak bral se lid z Hazerot, a položil se na poušti Fáran.

1Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married; for he had married a Cushite woman. 2They said, “Has Yahweh indeed spoken only with Moses? Hasn’t he spoken also with us?” And Yahweh heard it. 3Now the man Moses was very humble, above all the men who were on the surface of the earth. 4Yahweh spoke suddenly to Moses, to Aaron, and to Miriam, “You three come out to the Tent of Meeting!” The three of them came out. 5Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the door of the Tent, and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forward. 6He said, “Now hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. 7My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house. 8With him, I will speak mouth to mouth, even plainly, and not in riddles; and he shall see Yahweh’s form. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?” 9Yahweh’s anger was kindled against them; and he departed. 10The cloud departed from over the Tent; and behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. Aaron looked at Miriam, and behold, she was leprous. 11Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, please don’t count this sin against us, in which we have done foolishly, and in which we have sinned. 12Let her not, I pray, be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.” 13Moses cried to Yahweh, saying, “Heal her, God, I beg you!” 14Yahweh said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, shouldn’t she be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut up outside of the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again.” 15Miriam was shut up outside of the camp seven days, and the people didn’t travel until Miriam was brought in again. 16Afterward the people traveled from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.

1Mirjam nu sprak, en Aaron, tegen Mozes, ter oorzake der vrouw, der Cuschietische, die hij genomen had; want hij had een Cuschietische ter vrouw genomen. 2En zij zeiden: Heeft dan de HEERE maar alleen door Mozes gesproken? Heeft Hij ook niet door ons gesproken? En de HEERE hoorde het! 3Doch de man Mozes was zeer zachtmoedig, meer dan alle mensen, die op den aardbodem waren. 4Toen sprak de HEERE haastelijk tot Mozes, en tot Aaron, en tot Mirjam: Gij drie, komt uit tot de tent der samenkomst! En zij drie kwamen uit. 5Toen kwam de HEERE af in de wolkkolom, en stond aan de deur der tent; daarna riep Hij Aaron en Mirjam; en zij beiden kwamen uit. 6En Hij zeide: Hoort nu Mijn woorden! Zo er een profeet onder u is, Ik, de HEERE, zal door een gezicht Mij aan hem bekend maken, door een droom zal Ik met hem spreken. 7Alzo is Mijn knecht Mozes niet, die in Mijn ganse huis getrouw is. 8Van mond tot mond spreek Ik met hem, en door aanzien, en niet door duistere woorden; en de gelijkenis des HEEREN aanschouwt hij; waarom dan hebt gijlieden niet gevreesd tegen Mijn knecht, tegen Mozes, te spreken? 9Zo ontstak des HEEREN toorn tegen hen, en Hij ging weg. 10En de wolk week van boven de tent; en ziet, Mirjam was melaats, wit als de sneeuw. En Aaron zag Mirjam aan, en ziet, zij was melaats. 11Daarom zeide Aaron tot Mozes: Och, mijn heer! leg toch niet op ons de zonde, waarmede wij zottelijk gedaan, en waarmede wij gezondigd hebben! 12Laat zij toch niet zijn als een dode, van wiens vlees, als hij uit zijns moeders lijf uitgaat, de helft wel verteerd is! 13Mozes dan riep tot den HEERE, zeggende: O God! heel haar toch! 14En de HEERE zeide tot Mozes: Zo haar vader smadelijk in haar aangezicht gespogen had, zou zij niet zeven dagen beschaamd zijn? Laat haar zeven dagen buiten het leger gesloten, en daarna aangenomen worden! 15Zo werd Mirjam buiten het leger zeven dagen gesloten; en het volk verreisde niet, totdat Mirjam aangenomen werd. 16Maar daarna verreisde het volk van Hazeroth, en zij legerden zich in de woestijn van Paran.
