1Nầy là lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Sô-phô-ni, con trai Cu-si cháu Ghê-đa-lia, chắt A-ma-ria, chít Ê-xê-chia, về đời Giô-si-a, con trai A-môn, vua Giu-đa. 2Ta sẽ diệt sạch mọi sự khỏi mặt đất, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy. 3Ta sẽ diệt loài người và loài thú, chim trời và cá biển, cùng mọi sự ngăn trở với kẻ dữ; và ta sẽ trừ tiệt loài người khỏi mặt đất, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy. 4Ta sẽ giang tay ta trên Giu-đa và trên hết thảy dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem; sẽ trừ tiệt phần sót lại của Ba-anh, các tên của thầy cả và thầy tế lễ nó khỏi nơi nầy. 5Ta sẽ diệt những kẻ lạy cơ binh trên trời nơi nóc nhà; và những kẻ thờ lạy, những kẻ thề với Ðức Giê-hô-va và cũng thề bởi vua mình; 6cùng với những kẻ xây bỏ không theo Ðức Giê-hô-va, và những kẻ không tìm kiếm Ðức Giê-hô-va, không cầu hỏi Ngài. 7Hãy nín lặng, trước mặt Chúa Giê-hô-va! Vì ngày của Ðức Giê-hô-va đã gần, Ðức Giê-hô-va đã sửa soạn của lễ, đã biệt riêng ra tân khách Ngài. 8Trong ngày tế lễ của Ðức Giê-hô-va, ta sẽ phạt các quan trưởng và các con trai của vua, và hết thảy những kẻ mặc áo lạ. 9Trong ngày đó, ta sẽ phạt hết thảy những kẻ nhảy qua ngạch cửa, và những kẻ làm đầy dẫy sự bạo ngược và sự quỷ quyệt trong nhà chủ mình. 10Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Trong ngày đó sẽ có tiếng kêu lớn nơi cửa cá, tiếng la lối nơi phố thứ hai, tiếng vỡ lở lớn nơi các đồi. 11Hỡi dân cư trong thành thấp, hãy than khóc; vì mọi kẻ buôn bán đã mòn mỏi, và mọi kẻ chở bạc đi đã bị diệt mất. 12Trong lúc đó, ta sẽ dùng đèn đuốc lục soát trong Giê-ru-sa-lem, sẽ phạt những kẻ đọng trong cặn rượu và tự nói trong lòng mình rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ chẳng xuống phước cũng chẳng xuống họa. 13Của cải chúng nó sẽ bị cướp, nhà cửa chúng nó sẽ hoang vu; chúng nó sẽ xây nhà mà không được ở, trồng nho mà không được uống rượu. 14Ngày lớn của Ðức Giê-hô-va đã gần, đã gần rồi; nó đến rất kíp. Ngày của Ðức Giê-hô-va có tiếng động; bấy giờ người mạnh dạn sẽ kêu khóc đắng cay. 15Ngày ấy là ngày thạnh nộ, ngày hoạn nạn và buồn rầu, ngày hủy phá và hoang vu, ngày tối tăm và mờ mịt, ngày mây và sương mù, 16ngày mà tiếng kèn và tiếng báo giặc nghịch cùng các thành bền vững và các tháp cao góc thành. 17Ta sẽ đem sự hoạn nạn trên loài người, chúng nó sẽ đi như kẻ mù, vì đã phạm tội nghịch cùng Ðức Giê-hô-va; máu chúng nó sẽ đổ ra như bụi, và thịt như phân. 18Hoặc bạc hoặc vàng của chúng nó, đều không có thể giải cứu chúng nó trong ngày thạnh nộ của Ðức Giê-hô-va; nhưng cả đất nầy sẽ bị lửa ghen Ngài thiêu nuốt; vì Ngài sẽ diệt hết dân cư đất nầy cách thình lình.
1Yahweh’s word which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah. 2I will utterly sweep away everything off of the surface of the earth, says Yahweh. 3I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh. 4I will stretch out my hand against Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place: the name of the idolatrous and pagan priests, 5those who worship the army of the sky on the housetops, those who worship and swear by Yahweh and also swear by Malcam, 6those who have turned back from following Yahweh, and those who haven’t sought Yahweh nor inquired after him. 7Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests. 8It will happen in the day of Yahweh’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, the king’s sons, and all those who are clothed with foreign clothing. 9In that day, I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and deceit. 10In that day, says Yahweh, there will be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills. 11Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the people of Canaan are undone! All those who were loaded with silver are cut off. 12It will happen at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are settled on their dregs, who say in their heart, “Yahweh will not do good, neither will he do evil.” 13Their wealth will become a plunder, and their houses a desolation. Yes, they will build houses, but won’t inhabit them. They will plant vineyards, but won’t drink their wine. 14The great day of Yahweh is near. It is near, and hurries greatly, the voice of the day of Yahweh. The mighty man cries there bitterly. 15That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness, 16a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements. 17I will bring distress on men, that they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Yahweh, and their blood will be poured out like dust, and their flesh like dung. 18Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.
1Het woord des HEEREN, hetwelk geschied is tot Zefanja, den zoon van Cuschi, den zoon van Gedalja, den zoon van Amarja, den zoon van Hizkia; in de dagen van Josia, den zoon van Amon, den koning van Juda. 2Ik zal ganselijk alles wegrapen uit dit land, spreekt de HEERE. 3Ik zal wegrapen mensen en beesten; Ik zal wegrapen de vogelen des hemels, en de vissen der zee, en de ergernissen met de goddelozen; ja, Ik zal de mensen uit dit land uitroeien, spreekt de HEERE. 4En Ik zal Mijn hand uitstrekken tegen Juda, en tegen alle inwoners van Jeruzalem; en Ik zal uit deze plaats uitroeien het overblijfsel van Baal, en den naam der Chemarim met de priesters; 5En die zich nederbuigen op de daken voor het heir des hemels, en die zich nederbuigende zweren bij den HEERE, en zweren bij Malcham; 6En die terugkeren van achter den HEERE; en die den HEERE niet zoeken, en vragen naar Hem niet. 7Zwijgt voor het aangezicht des Heeren HEEREN; want de dag des HEEREN is nabij; want de HEERE heeft een slachtoffer bereid, Hij heeft Zijn genoden geheiligd. 8En het zal geschieden in den dag van het slachtoffer des HEEREN, dat Ik bezoeking zal doen over de vorsten, en over de kinderen des konings, en over allen, die zich kleden met vreemde kleding. 9Ook zal Ik ten zelven dage bezoeking doen over al wie over den dorpel springt; die het huis hunner heren vullen met geweld en bedrog. 10En er zal te dien dage, spreekt de HEERE, een stem des gekrijts zijn van de Vispoort af, en een gehuil van het tweede gedeelte, en een grote breuk van de heuvelen af. 11Huilt, gij inwoners der laagte! Want al het volk van koophandel is uitgehouwen, al de gelddragers zijn uitgeroeid. 12En het zal geschieden te dien tijde, Ik zal Jeruzalem met lantaarnen doorzoeken; en Ik zal bezoeking doen over de mannen, die stijf geworden zijn op hun droesem, die in hun hart zeggen: De HEERE doet geen goed, en Hij doet geen kwaad. 13Daarom zal hun vermogen ten roof worden, en hun huizen tot verwoesting; zij bouwen wel huizen, maar zij zullen ze niet bewonen; en zij planten wijngaarden, maar zij zullen derzelver wijn niet drinken. 14De grote dag des HEEREN is nabij; hij is nabij, en zeer haastende; de stem van den dag des HEEREN; de held zal aldaar bitterlijk schreeuwen. 15Die dag zal een dag der verbolgenheid zijn; een dag der benauwdheid en des angstes, een dag der woestheid en verwoesting, een dag der duisternis en der donkerheid, een dag der wolk en der dikke donkerheid; 16Een dag der bazuin en des geklanks tegen de vaste steden en tegen de hoge hoeken. 17En Ik zal de mensen bang maken, dat zij zullen gaan als de blinden; want zij hebben tegen den HEERE gezondigd; en hun bloed zal vergoten worden als stof, en hun vlees zal worden als drek. 18Noch hun zilver, noch hun goud zal hen kunnen redden ten dage der verbolgenheid des HEEREN; maar door het vuur Zijns ijvers zal dit ganse land verteerd worden; want Hij zal een voleinding maken, gewisselijk, een haastige, met al de inwoners dezes lands.
