Ê-phê-sô 1

1Phao-lô, theo ý muốn Ðức Chúa Trời, làm sứ đồ của Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, gởi cho các thánh đồ ở thành Ê-phê-sô, cho những kẻ trung tín trong Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ: 2nguyền xin ân điển và sự bình an ban cho anh em từ nơi Ðức Chúa Trời, Cha chúng ta, và từ nơi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ! 3Ngợi khen Ðức Chúa Trời, Cha Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, Ngài đã xuống phước cho chúng ta trong Ðấng Christ đủ mọi thứ phước thiêng liêng ở các nơi trên trời, 4trước khi sáng thế, Ngài đã chọn chúng ta trong Ðấng Christ, đặng làm nên thánh không chỗ trách được trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời, 5bởi sự thương yêu của Ngài đã định trước cho chúng ta được trở nên con nuôi của Ngài bởi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, theo ý tốt của Ngài, 6để khen ngợi sự vinh hiển của ân điển Ngài đã ban cho chúng ta cách nhưng không trong Con yêu dấu của Ngài! 7Ấy là trong Ðấng Christ, chúng ta được cứu chuộc bởi huyết Ngài, được tha tội, theo sự dư dật của ân điển Ngài, 8mà Ngài đã rải ra đầy dẫy trên chúng ta cùng với mọi thứ khôn ngoan thông sáng, 9khiến chúng ta biết sự mầu nhiệm của ý muốn Ngài, theo ý định mà Ngài đã tự lập thành trước trong lòng nhơn từ Ngài 10để làm sự định trước đó trong khi kỳ mãn, hội hiệp muôn vật lại trong Ðấng Christ, cả vật ở trên trời và vật ở dưới đất. 11Ấy cũng là trong Ngài mà chúng ta đã nên kẻ dự phần kế nghiệp, như đã định trước cho chúng ta được điều đó, theo mạng của Ðấng làm mọi sự hiệp với ý quyết đoán, 12hầu cho sự vinh hiển của Ngài nhờ chúng ta là kẻ đã trông cậy trong Ðấng Christ trước nhứt mà được ngợi khen. 13Ấy lại cũng trong Ngài mà anh em sau khi đã nghe đạo chơn thật, là đạo Tin Lành về sự cứu rỗi anh em, ấy là trong Ngài mà anh em đã tin và được ấn chứng bằng Ðức Thánh Linh là Ðấng Chúa đã hứa, 14Ðấng ấy làm của cầm về cơ nghiệp chúng ta, cho đến kỳ chuộc lấy những kẻ mà Ngài đã được để khen ngợi sự vinh hiển Ngài. 15Vậy nên, sau khi tôi có nghe đức tin anh em hướng về Ðức Chúa Jêsus và tình yêu thương đối với các thánh đồ, 16thì tôi vì anh em cảm tạ không thôi, thường nhắc đến anh em trong khi cầu nguyện. 17Tôi cầu Ðức Chúa Trời của Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, là Cha vinh hiển, ban thần trí của sự khôn sáng và của sự tỏ ra cho anh em, để nhận biết Ngài, 18lại soi sáng con mắt của lòng anh em, hầu cho biết điều trông cậy về sự kêu gọi của Ngài là thể nào, sự giàu có của cơ nghiệp vinh hiển Ngài cho các thánh đồ là làm sao, 19và biết quyền vô hạn của Ngài, đối với chúng ta có lòng tin, là lớn dường nào, y theo phép tối thượng của năng lực mình, 20mà Ngài đã tỏ ra trong Ðấng Christ, khi khiến Ðấng Christ từ kẻ chết sống lại và làm cho ngồi bên hữu mình tại các nơi trên trời, 21cao hơn hết mọi quyền, mọi phép, mọi thế lực, mọi quân chủ cùng mọi danh vang ra, không những trong đời nầy, mà cũng trong đời hầu đến nữa. 22Ngài đã bắt muôn vật phục dưới chơn Ðấng Christ, và ban cho Ðấng Christ làm đầu Hội thánh, 23Hội thánh là thân thể của Ðấng Christ, tức là sự đầy đủ của Ðấng gồm tóm mọi sự trong mọi loài.

1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus: 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; 4even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love; 5having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, 6to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved, 7in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him 10to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, in him; 11in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will; 12to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ: 13in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory. 15For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints, 16don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, 17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; 18having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might 20which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. 22He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

1Paulus, een apostel van Jezus Christus, door den wil van God, aan de heiligen, die te Efeze zijn, en gelovigen in Christus Jezus: 2Genade zij u en vrede van God, onzen Vader, en den Heere Jezus Christus. 3Gezegend zij de God en Vader van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, Die ons gezegend heeft met alle geestelijke zegening in den hemel in Christus. 4Gelijk Hij ons uitverkoren heeft in Hem, voor de grondlegging der wereld, opdat wij zouden heilig en onberispelijk zijn voor Hem in de liefde; 5Die ons te voren verordineerd heeft tot aanneming tot kinderen, door Jezus Christus, in Zichzelven, naar het welbehagen van Zijn wil. 6Tot prijs der heerlijkheid Zijner genade, door welke Hij ons begenadigd heeft in den Geliefde; 7In Welken wij hebben de verlossing door Zijn bloed, namelijk de vergeving der misdaden, naar den rijkdom Zijner genade, 8Met welke Hij overvloedig is geweest over ons in alle wijsheid en voorzichtigheid; 9Ons bekend gemaakt hebbende de verborgenheid van Zijn wil, naar Zijn welbehagen, hetwelk Hij voorgenomen had in Zichzelven. 10Om in de bedeling van de volheid der tijden, wederom alles tot een te vergaderen in Christus, beide dat in den hemel is, en dat op de aarde is; 11In Hem, in Welken wij ook een erfdeel geworden zijn, wij, die te voren verordineerd waren naar het voornemen Desgenen, Die alle dingen werkt naar den raad van Zijn wil; 12Opdat wij zouden zijn tot prijs Zijner heerlijkheid, wij, die eerst in Christus gehoopt hebben. 13In Welken ook gij zijt, nadat gij het woord der waarheid, namelijk het Evangelie uwer zaligheid gehoord hebt; in Welken gij ook, nadat gij geloofd hebt, zijt verzegeld geworden met den Heiligen Geest der belofte; 14Die het onderpand is van onze erfenis, tot de verkregene verlossing, tot prijs Zijner heerlijkheid. 15Daarom ook ik, gehoord hebbende het geloof in den Heere Jezus, dat onder u is, en de liefde tot al de heiligen, 16Houde niet op voor u te danken, gedenkende uwer in mijn gebeden; 17Opdat de God van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, de Vader der heerlijkheid, u geve den Geest der wijsheid en der openbaring in Zijn kennis; 18Namelijk verlichte ogen uws verstands, opdat gij moogt weten, welke zij de hoop van Zijn roeping, en welke de rijkdom zij der heerlijkheid van Zijn erfenis in de heiligen; 19En welke de uitnemende grootheid Zijner kracht zij aan ons, die geloven, naar de werking der sterkte Zijner macht, 20Die Hij gewrocht heeft in Christus, als Hij Hem uit de doden heeft opgewekt; en heeft Hem gezet tot Zijn rechter hand in den hemel; 21Verre boven alle overheid, en macht, en kracht, en heerschappij, en allen naam, die genaamd wordt, niet alleen in deze wereld, maar ook in de toekomende; 22En heeft alle dingen Zijn voeten onderworpen, en heeft Hem der Gemeente gegeven tot een Hoofd boven alle dingen; 23Welke Zijn lichaam is, en de vervulling Desgenen, Die alles in allen vervult.
