А чом же бачу в усїх мужів руки на череслах, мов у породїлї, а всї поблїдли на лицї? 7Ой горе! страшний той день, не було такого; нещасний час для Якова, але йому прийде рятунок. 8Того бо часу, говорить Господь сил небесних, поламлю ярмо на шиї його й порозриваю повороззє його, й не буде він уже чужинцям служити; 9Нї, служити муть вони Господеві, свойму Богові, та свойму цареві Давидові, що (з його роду) розбуджу їм. 10Тим же то не лякайся, мій рабе, Якове, говорить Господь, і не страхайся, Ізраїлю: вирятую бо тебе з далекої землї і потомків твоїх з краю неволї; і вернеться Яков додому, та й жити ме в супокою і безпечен, і нїхто не буде лякати його. 11Я бо з тобою, говорить Господь, щоб тебе рятувати: Я вигублю всї народи, що проміж ними тебе розкинув, а тебе не вигублю; буду карати тебе, але помірно, некараним же не зоставлю тебе. 12Так бо говорить Господь: Рана твоя невилїчима; синцї твої болючі; 13Нїхто не журиться твоєю справою, щоб перевязати рану твою; лїку на вигоєннє нема тобі; 14Усї, кого ти приятельом собі вважав, забули на тебе, й не питають про тебе; бо я побив тебе ударами неприязними, жорстокою карою за многі провини твої за безлїч гріхів твоїх. 15Чого ж кричиш, що ти поранений, що біль твій тяжкий? Се ж за многі провини твої, за безлїч гріхів твоїх я вчинив тобі теє. 16Та всї, що тебе жеруть, будуть пожерті; всї вороги твої пійдуть у неволю; ті що тебе пустошили, будуть спустошені, і всї, що тебе гарбали, будуть загарбані. 17Я перевяжу рани твої та й вигою й знаки по них, говорить Господь. Тебе звали одкиненим, говорили: Ось Сион, що про його нїхто й не питає! 18Так Господь ось як говорить: Ось, я заверну з полону шатра (родини) Яковові та й змилосерджуся над господами його, й побудуєсь наново місто на узгіррю свойму, та й храм построїться по давному. 19І понесеться з них подяка й лунати муть веселощі; й буду намножувати їх, а не поменшувати, й доведу їх до честї, й не дам їх зневажати. 20Сини Яковові будуть у мене такими, як перше, й громада його стояти ме передо мною твердо; усїх же гонителїв його буду карати. 21І вийде гетьман його з него самого, й володарь його народиться зпосеред него; й я пригорну його, й він приступить до мене; бо й хто ж би зважився сам приступити до мене? говорить Господь. 22І будете ви моїм народом, а я буду вашим Богом. 23Ось, гнїв Господень зривається хуртовиною, буря грізна; вона спадає на голову безбожних! 24Не відвернеться палкий гнїв Господень, аж докіль не докаже й не спевнить задумів серця свого. 1The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 2Thus speaks Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book. 3For, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, says Yahweh; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. 4These are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah. 5For thus says Yahweh: We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. 6Ask now, and see whether a man does travail with child: why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? 7Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. 8It shall come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Armies, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds; and strangers shall no more make him their bondservant; 9but they shall serve Yahweh their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. 10Therefore don’t you be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh; neither be dismayed, Israel: for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and no one shall make him afraid. 11For I am with you, says Yahweh, to save you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished. 12For thus says Yahweh, Your hurt is incurable, and your wound grievous. 13There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines. 14All your lovers have forgotten you; they don’t seek you: for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased. 15Why do you cry for your hurt? Your pain is incurable: for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you. 16Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; and all your adversaries, everyone of them, shall go into captivity; and those who plunder you shall be plunder, and all who prey on you will I give for a prey. 17For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh; because they have called you an outcast, saying, It is Zion, whom no man seeks after. 18Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I will turn again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have compassion on his dwelling places; and the city shall be built on its own hill, and the palace shall be inhabited in its own way. 19Out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. 20Their children also shall be as before, and their congregation shall be established before me; and I will punish all who oppress them. 21Their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from their midst; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach to me: for who is he who has had boldness to approach to me? says Yahweh. 22You shall be my people, and I will be your God. 23Behold, Yahweh’s storm, his wrath, has gone out, a sweeping storm: it shall burst on the head of the wicked. 24The fierce anger of Yahweh will not return, until he has executed, and until he has performed the intentions of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it.

Waarom zie Ik dan eens iegelijken mans handen op zijn lenden, als van een barende vrouw, en alle aangezichten veranderd in bleekheid? 7O wee! want die dag is zo groot, dat zijns gelijke niet geweest is; en het is een tijd van benauwdheid voor Jakob; nog zal hij daaruit verlost worden. 8Want het zal te dien dage geschieden, spreekt de HEERE der heirscharen, dat Ik zijn juk van uw hals verbreken, en uw banden verscheuren zal; en vreemden zullen zich niet meer van hem doen dienen. 9Maar zij zullen dienen den HEERE, hun God, en hun koning David, dien Ik hun verwekken zal. 10Gij dan, vrees niet, o Mijn knecht Jakob! spreekt de HEERE, ontzet u niet, Israel! want zie, Ik zal u uit verre landen verlossen, en uw zaad uit het land hunner gevangenis; en Jakob zal wederkomen, en stil en gerust zijn, en er zal niemand zijn, die hem verschrikke. 11Want Ik ben met u, spreekt de HEERE, om u te verlossen; want Ik zal een voleinding maken met al de heidenen, waarhenen Ik u verstrooid heb; maar met u zal Ik geen voleinding maken; maar Ik zal u kastijden met mate, en u niet gans onschuldig houden. 12Want zo zegt de HEERE: Uw breuk is dodelijk, uw plage is smartelijk. 13Er is niemand, die uw zaak oordeelt, aangaande het gezwel; gij hebt geen heelpleisters. 14Al uw liefhebbers hebben u vergeten, zij vragen niet naar u; want Ik heb u geslagen met eens vijands plage, met de kastijding eens wreden; om de grootheid uwer ongerechtigheid, omdat uw zonden machtig veel zijn. 15Wat krijt gij over uw breuk, dat uw smart dodelijk is? Om de grootheid uwer ongerechtigheid, omdat uw zonden machtig veel zijn, heb Ik u deze dingen gedaan. 16Daarom, allen, die u opeten, zullen opgegeten worden, en al uw wederpartijders, zij allen zullen gaan in gevangenis; en die u beroven, zullen ter beroving zijn, en allen, die u plunderen, zal Ik ter plundering overgeven. 17Want Ik zal u de gezondheid doen rijzen, en u van uw plagen genezen, spreekt de HEERE; omdat zij u noemen: De verdrevene. Het is Sion, zeggen zij; niemand vraagt naar haar. 18Zo zegt de HEERE: Ziet, Ik zal de gevangenis der tenten Jakobs wenden, en Mij over hun woningen ontfermen; en de stad zal herbouwd worden op haar hoop, en het paleis zal liggen naar zijn wijze. 19En van hen zal dankzegging uitgaan, en een stem der spelenden; en Ik zal hen vermeerderen, en zij zullen niet verminderd worden, en Ik zal hen verheerlijken, en zij zullen niet gering worden. 20En zijn zonen zullen zijn als eertijds, en zijn gemeente zal voor Mijn aangezicht bevestigd worden; en Ik zal bezoeking doen over al zijn onderdrukkers. 21En zijn Heerlijke zal uit hem zijn, en zijn Heerser uit het midden van hem voortkomen; en Ik zal hem doen naderen, en hij zal tot Mij genaken; want wie is hij, die met zijn hart borg worde, om tot Mij te genaken? spreekt de HEERE. 22En gij zult Mij tot een volk zijn, en Ik zal u tot een God zijn. 23Ziet, een onweder des HEEREN, een grimmigheid is uitgegaan, een aanhoudend onweder; het zal blijven op het hoofd der goddelozen. 24De hittigheid van des HEEREN toorn zal zich niet afwenden, totdat Hij gedaan, en totdat Hij daargesteld zal hebben de gedachten Zijns harten; in het laatste der dagen zult gij daarop letten.
