1Och hela Israel blev upptecknat i släktregister, och de finnas uppskrivna i boken om Israels konungar. Och Juda fördes i fångenskap bort till Babel för sin otrohets skull. 2Men de förra invånarna som bodde där de hade sin arvsbesittning, i sina städer, utgjordes av vanliga israeliter, präster, leviter och tempelträlar. 3I Jerusalem bodde en del av Juda barn, av Benjamins barn och av Efraims och Manasse barn, nämligen: 4Utai, son till Ammihud, son till Omri, son till Imri, son till Bani, av Peres', Judas sons, barn; 5av siloniterna Asaja, den förstfödde, och hans söner; 6av Seras barn Jeguel och deras broder, sex hundra nittio; 7av Benjamins barn Sallu, son till Mesullam, son till Hodauja, son till Hassenua, 8vidare Jibneja, Jerohams son, och Ela, son till Ussi, son till Mikri, och Mesullam, son till Sefatja, son till Reguel, son till Jibneja, 9så ock deras bröder, efter deras ättföljd, nio hundra femtiosex. Alla dessa män voro huvudmän för familjer, var och en för sin familj. 10Och av prästerna: Jedaja, Jojarib och Jakin, 11vidare Asarja, son till Hilkia, son till Mesullam, son till Sadok, son till Merajot, son till Ahitub, fursten i Guds hus, 12vidare Adaja, son till Jeroham, son till Pashur, son till Malkia, vidare Maasai, son till Adiel, son till Jasera, son till Mesullam, son till Mesillemit, son till Immer, 13så ock deras bröder, huvudmän för sina familjer, ett tusen sju hundra sextio, dugande män i de sysslor som hörde till tjänstgöringen i Guds hus. 14Och av leviterna: Semaja, som till Hassub, son till Asrikam, son till Hasabja, av Meraris barn, 15vidare Bakbackar, Heres och Galal, så ock Mattanja, son till Mika, son till Sikri, son till Asaf, 16vidare Obadja, son till Semaja, son till Galal, son till Jedutun, så ock Berekja, son till Asa, son till Elkana, som bodde i netofatiternas byar. 17Och dörrvaktarna: Sallum, Ackub, Talmon och Ahiman med sina bröder; men Sallum var huvudmannen. 18Och ända till nu göra de tjänst vid Konungsporten, på östra sidan. Dessa voro dörrvaktarna i Levi barns läger. 19Men Sallum, son till Kore, son till Ebjasaf, son till Kora, hade jämte sina bröder, dem som voro av hans familj, koraiterna, till tjänstgöringssyssla att hålla vakt vid tältets trösklar; deras fäder hade nämligen i HERRENS läger hållit vakt vid ingången. 20Och Pinehas, Eleasars son, hade förut varit furste över dem -- med honom vare HERREN! 21Sakarja, Meselemjas son, var dörrvaktare vid ingången till uppenbarelsetältet. 22Alla dessa voro utvalda till dörrvaktare vid trösklarna: två hundra tolv. De blevo i sina byar upptecknade i släktregistret. David och siaren Samuel hade tillsatt dem att tjäna på heder och tro. 23De och deras söner stodo därför vid portarna till HERRENS hus, tälthuset, och höllo vakt. 24Efter de fyra väderstrecken hade dörrvaktarna sina platser: i öster, väster, norr och söder. 25Och deras bröder, de som fingo bo i sina byar, skulle var sjunde dag, alltid på samma timme, infinna sig hos dem. 26Ty på heder och tro voro dessa fyra anställda såsom förmän för dörrvaktarna. Detta var nu leviterna. De hade ock uppsikten över kamrarna och förvaringsrummen i Guds hus. 27Och de vistades om natten runt omkring Guds hus, ty dem ålåg att hålla vakt, och de skulle öppna dörrarna var morgon. 28Somliga av dem hade uppsikten över de kärl som användes vid tjänstgöringen. De buro nämligen in dem, efter att hava räknat dem, och buro sedan ut dem, efter att åter hava räknat dem. 29Och somliga av dem voro förordnade till att hava uppsikten över de andra kärlen, över alla andra helgedomens kärl, så ock över det fina mjölet och vinet och oljan och rökelsen och de välluktande kryddorna. 30Men somliga av prästernas söner beredde salvan av de välluktande kryddorna. 31Och Mattitja, en av leviterna, koraiten Sallums förstfödde, hade på heder och tro uppsikten över bakverket. 32Och somliga av deras bröder, kehatiternas söner, hade uppsikten över skådebröden och skulle tillreda dem för var sabbat. 33Men de andra, nämligen sångarna, huvudmän för levitiska familjer, vistades i kamrarna, fria ifrån annan tjänstgöring, ty dag och natt voro de upptagna av sina egna sysslor. 34Dessa voro huvudmännen för de levitiska familjerna, huvudman efter sin ättföljd; de bodde i Jerusalem. 35I Gibeon bodde Gibeons fader Jeguel, vilkens hustru hette Maaka. 36Och hans förstfödde son var Abdon; vidare Sur, Kis, Baal, Ner, Nadab 37Gedor, Ajo, Sakarja och Miklot. 38Men Miklot födde Simeam. Också de bodde jämte sina bröder i Jerusalem, gent emot sina bröder. 39Och Ner födde Kis, Kis födde Saul, och Saul födde Jonatan, Malki-Sua, Abinadab och Esbaal. 40Jonatans son var Merib-Baal, och Merib-Baal födde Mika. 41Mikas söner voro Piton, Melek och Taharea. 42Ahas födde Jaera, Jaera födde Alemet, Asmavet och Simri, och Simri födde Mosa. 43Mosa födde Binea. Hans son var Refaja; hans son var Eleasa; hans son var Asel. 44Och Asel hade sex söner, och dessa hette Asrikam, Bokeru, Ismael, Searja, Obadja och Hanan. Dessa voro Asels söner

1So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel: and Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their disobedience. 2Now the first inhabitants who lived in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim. 3In Jerusalem lived of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh: 4Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Perez the son of Judah. 5Of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons. 6Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brothers, six hundred ninety. 7Of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah, 8and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah; 9and their brothers, according to their generations, nine hundred fifty-six. All these men were heads of fathers’ households by their fathers’ houses. 10Of the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of God’s house; 12and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13and their brothers, heads of their fathers’ houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty; very able men for the work of the service of God’s house. 14Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, 16and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites. 17The porters: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brothers (Shallum was the chief), 18who previously served in the king’s gate eastward: they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi. 19Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of Yahweh, keepers of the entry. 20Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and Yahweh was with him. 21Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the Tent of Meeting. 22All these who were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer ordained in their office of trust. 23So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of Yahweh’s house, even the house of the tent, by wards. 24On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south. 25Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: 26for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the rooms and over the treasuries in God’s house. 27They lodged around God’s house, because that duty was on them; and to them pertained its opening morning by morning. 28Certain of them were in charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. 29Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. 30Some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices. 31Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. 32Some of their brothers, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the show bread, to prepare it every Sabbath. 33These are the singers, heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, who lived in the rooms and were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night. 34These were heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these lived at Jerusalem. 35In Gibeon there lived the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah: 36and his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, 37and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. 38Mikloth became the father of Shimeam. They also lived with their brothers in Jerusalem, over against their brothers. 39Ner became the father of Kish; and Kish became the father of Saul; and Saul became the father of Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal. 40The son of Jonathan was Merib Baal; and Merib Baal became the father of Micah. 41The sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, and Ahaz. 42Ahaz became the father of Jarah; and Jarah became the father of Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri became the father of Moza; 43and Moza became the father of Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. 44Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel.

Dezen waren in het geslachtsregister gesteld naar hun dorpen. David en Samuel, de ziener, hadden hen in hun ambt bevestigd. 23Zij dan en hun zonen waren aan de poorten van het huis des HEEREN, in het huis der tent, aan de wachten. 24Die poortiers waren aan de vier winden, tegen het oosten, tegen het westen, tegen het noorden, en tegen het zuiden. 25En hun broeders waren op hun dorpen, inkomende ten zevenden dage van tijd tot tijd, om met hen te dienen; 26Want in dat ambt waren vier overste poortiers, die Levieten waren; en zij waren over de kameren en over de schatten van het huis Gods. 27En zij bleven over nacht rondom het huis Gods; want op hen was de wacht, en zij waren over de opening, en dat allen morgen. 28En enigen van hen waren over de vaten van den dienst; want bij getal droegen zij ze in, en bij getal droegen zij ze uit. 29Want uit dezelve zijn er besteld over de vaten, en over al de heilige vaten, en over de meelbloem, en wijn, en olie, en wierook, en specerij. 30En uit de zonen der priesteren waren de bereiders van het reukwerk der specerijen. 31En Mattithja uit de Levieten, dewelke was de eerstgeborene van Sallum, den Korahiet, was in het ambt over het werk, dat in pannen gekookt wordt. 32En uit de kinderen der Kahathieten, uit hun broederen, waren enigen over de broden der toerichting, om die alle sabbatten te bereiden. 33Uit dezen zijn ook de zangers, hoofden der vaderen onder de Levieten in de kameren, dienstvrij; want dag en nacht was het op hen, in dat werk te zijn. 34Dit zijn de hoofden der vaderen onder de Levieten, hoofden in hun geslachten; dezen woonden te Jeruzalem. 35Maar te Gibeon hadden gewoond Jeiel, de vader van Gibeon; de naam zijner zuster nu was Maacha. 36En Abdon was zijn eerstgeboren zoon, daarna Zur, en Kis, en Baal, en Ner, en Nadab. 37En Gedor, en Ahio, en Zacharja, en Mikloth. 38Mikloth nu gewon Simeam; dezen woonden ook te Jeruzalem, tegenover hun broederen, met hun broederen. 39En Ner gewon Kis, en Kis gewon Saul, en Saul gewon Jonathan, en Malchi-sua, en Abinadab, en Esbaal. 40En Jonathans zoon van Merib-baal, en Merib-baal gewon Micha. 41De kinderen van Micha nu waren Pithon, en Melech, en Thaerea. 42En Achaz gewon Jaera, en Jaera gewon Alemeth, en Azmaveth, en Zimri; en Zimri gewon Moza; 43En Moza gewon Bina; wiens zoon was Refaja; wiens zoon was Elasa; wiens zoon was Azel. 44Azel nu had zes zonen, en dit zijn hun namen: Azrikam, Bochru, en Ismael, en Searja, en Obadja, en Hanan; dezen zijn Azels zonen.
