1После того Иосифу сказали: вот, отец твой болен. И он взял с собою двух сынов своих, Манассию и Ефрема [и пошел к Иакову]. 2Иакова известили и сказали: вот, сын твой Иосиф идет к тебе. Израиль собрал силы свои и сел на постели. 3И сказал Иаков Иосифу: Бог Всемогущий явился мне в Лузе, в земле Ханаанской, и благословил меня, 4и сказал мне: вот, Я распложу тебя, и размножу тебя, и произведу от тебя множество народов, и дам землю сию потомству твоему после тебя, в вечное владение. 5И ныне два сына твои, родившиеся тебе в земле Египетской, до моего прибытия к тебе в Египет, мои они; Ефрем и Манассия, как Рувим и Симеон, будут мои; 6дети же твои, которые родятся от тебя после них, будут твои; они под именем братьев своих будут именоваться в их уделе. 7Когда я шел из Месопотамии, умерла у меня Рахиль [мать твоя] в земле Ханаанской, по дороге, не доходя несколько до Ефрафы, и я похоронил ее там на дороге к Ефрафе, что ныне Вифлеем. 8И увидел Израиль сыновей Иосифа и сказал: кто это? 9И сказал Иосиф отцу своему: это сыновья мои, которых Бог дал мне здесь. [Иаков] сказал: подведи их ко мне, и я благословлю их. 10Глаза же Израилевы притупились от старости; не мог он видеть ясно. Иосиф подвел их к нему, и он поцеловал их и обнял их. 11И сказал Израиль Иосифу: не надеялся я видеть твое лице; но вот, Бог показал мне и детей твоих. 12И отвел их Иосиф от колен его и поклонился ему лицем своим до земли. 13И взял Иосиф обоих [сыновей своих], Ефрема в правую свою руку против левой Израиля, а Манассию в левую против правой Израиля, и подвел к нему. 14Но Израиль простер правую руку свою и положил на голову Ефрему, хотя сей был меньший, а левую на голову Манассии. С намерением положил он так руки свои, хотя Манассия был первенец. 15И благословил Иосифа и сказал: Бог, пред Которым ходили отцы мои Авраам и Исаак, Бог, пасущий меня с тех пор, как я существую, до сего дня, 16Ангел, избавляющий меня от всякого зла, да благословит отроков сих; да будет на них наречено имя мое и имя отцов моих Авраама и Исаака, и да возрастут они во множество посреди земли. 17И увидел Иосиф, что отец его положил правую руку свою на голову Ефрема; и прискорбно было ему это. И взял он руку отца своего, чтобы переложить ее с головы Ефрема на голову Манассии, 18и сказал Иосиф отцу своему: не так, отец мой, ибо это — первенец; положи на его голову правую руку твою. 19Но отец его не согласился и сказал: знаю, сын мой, знаю; и от него произойдет народ, и он будет велик; но меньший его брат будет больше его, и от семени его произойдет многочисленный народ. 20И благословил их в тот день, говоря: тобою будет благословлять Израиль, говоря: Бог да сотворит тебе, как Ефрему и Манассии. И поставил Ефрема выше Манассии. 21И сказал Израиль Иосифу: вот, я умираю; и Бог будет с вами и возвратит вас в землю отцов ваших; 22я даю тебе, преимущественно пред братьями твоими, один участок, который я взял из рук Аморреев мечом моим и луком моим.
1After these things, someone said to Joseph, “Behold, your father is sick.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. 2Someone told Jacob, and said, “Behold, your son Joseph comes to you,” and Israel strengthened himself, and sat on the bed. 3Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me, 4and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.’ 5Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, will be mine. 6Your issue, whom you become the father of after them, will be yours. They will be called after the name of their brothers in their inheritance. 7As for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (the same is Bethlehem).” 8Israel saw Joseph’s sons, and said, “Who are these?” 9Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” He said, “Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.” 10Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he couldn’t see. He brought them near to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them. 11Israel said to Joseph, “I didn’t think I would see your face, and behold, God has let me see your seed also.” 12Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth. 13Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near to him. 14Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn. 15He blessed Joseph, and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day, 16the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads, and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. Let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.” 17When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. 18Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father; for this is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.” 19His father refused, and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a multitude of nations.” 20He blessed them that day, saying, “In you will Israel bless, saying, ‘God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh’” He set Ephraim before Manasseh. 21Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers. 22Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.”
1Het geschiedde nu na deze dingen, dat men Jozef zeide: Zie, uw vader is krank! Toen nam hij zijn twee zonen met zich, Manasse en Efraim! 2En men boodschapte Jakob, en men zeide: Zie, uw zoon Jozef komt tot u! En hij zeide: Breng hen toch tot mij, dat ik hen zegene! 10Doch de ogen van Israel waren zwaar van ouderdom; hij kon niet zien; en hij deed hen naderen tot zich; toen kuste hij hen, en omhelsde hen. 11En Israel zeide tot Jozef: Ik had niet gemeend uw aangezicht te zien; maar zie, God heeft mij ook uw zaad doen zien! 12Toen deed hen Jozef uitgaan van zijn knieen; en hij boog zich voor zijn aangezicht neder ter aarde. 13En Jozef nam die beiden, Efraim met zijn rechterhand, tegenover Israels linkerhand, en Manasse met zijn linkerhand, tegenover Israels rechterhand, en hij deed hen naderen tot hem. 14Maar Israel strekte zijn rechterhand uit, en legde die op het hoofd van Efraim, hoewel hij de minste was, en zijn linkerhand op het hoofd van Manasse; hij bestierde zijn handen verstandelijk; want Manasse was de eerstgeborene. 15En hij zegende Jozef, en zeide: De God, voor Wiens aangezicht mijn vaders, Abraham en Izak, gewandeld hebben, die God, Die mij gevoed heeft, van dat ik was, tot op dezen dag; 16Die Engel, Die mij verlost heeft van alle kwaad, zegene deze jongeren, en dat in hen mijn naam genoemd worde, en de naam mijner vaderen, Abraham en Izak, en dat zij vermenigvuldigen als vissen in menigte, in het midden des lands! 17Toen Jozef zag, dat zijn vader zijn rechterhand op het hoofd van Efraim legde, zo was het kwaad in zijn ogen, en hij ondervatte zijns vaders hand, om die van het hoofd van Efraim op het hoofd van Manasse af te brengen. 18En Jozef zeide tot zijn vader: Niet alzo, mijn vader! want deze is de eerstgeborene; leg uw rechterhand op zijn hoofd. 19Maar zijn vader weigerde het, en zeide: Ik weet het, mijn zoon! ik weet het; hij zal ook tot een volk worden, en hij zal ook groot worden; maar nochtans zal zijn kleinste broeder groter worden dan hij, en zijn zaad zal een volle menigte van volkeren worden. 20Alzo zegende hij ze te dien dage, zeggende: In u zal Israel zegenen, zeggende: God zette u als Efraim en als Manasse! En hij zette Efraim voor Manasse. 21Daarna zeide Israel tot Jozef: Zie, ik sterf; maar God zal met ulieden wezen, en Hij zal u wederbrengen in het land uwer vaderen. 22En ik heb u een stuk lands gegeven boven uw broederen; hetwelk ik, met mijn zwaard en met mijn boog, uit de hand der Amorieten genomen heb.
