1E enquanto eles ainda estavam falando ao povo, vieram sobre eles os sacerdotes, e o oficial do Templo, e os saduceus, 2Muito incomodados por eles ensinarem ao povo, e anunciarem no nome de Jesus a ressurreição dos mortos. 3E puseram as mãos sobre eles, e os puseram na prisão até o dia seguinte, porque já era tarde. 4E muitos dos que ouviram a palavra, creram; e era o número dos homens de cerca de cinco mil. 5E aconteceu no dia seguinte, que os chefes, e anciãos, e escribas, se reuniram em Jerusalém; 6E Anás, o sumo sacerdote, e Caifás, e João, e Alexandre, e todos quantos havia da linhagem do governo sacerdotal. 7E pondo-os no meio, perguntaram -lhes : Por meio de que poder ou por qual nome vós fizestes isto? 8Então Pedro, cheio do Espírito Santo, lhes disse: Chefes do povo, e anciões de Israel, 9Se hoje somos interrogados quanto a uma boa ação feita a um enfermo, pela qual este foi curado; 10Seja conhecido a todos vós, e a todos o povo de Israel, que pelo nome de Jesus Cristo, o nazareno, aquele que vós crucificastes, ao qual Deus ressuscitou dos mortos, por ele este homem está são diante de vós. 11Este é a pedra que foi desprezada por vós, edificadores; a qual foi feita por cabeça de esquina. 12E em nenhum outro há salvação; porque nenhum outro nome há abaixo do céu, dado entre os seres humanos, em quem devemos ser salvos. 13E eles, ao verem a ousadia de Pedro, e de João; e informados que eles eram homens sem instrução e ordinários, maravilharam-se; e eles sabiam que eles tinham estado com Jesus. 14E vendo estar com eles o homem que tinha sido curado, nada tinham a dizer contra eles . 15E mandando-os saírem fora do Conselho, discutiam entre si, 16Dizendo: O que faremos a estes homens? Porque um sinal notório foi feito por eles, manifesto a todos os que habitam em Jerusalém, e não podemos negar. 17Mas para que esta notícia não seja ainda mais divulgada entre o povo, façamos sérias ameaças a eles, para que nunca mais falem a ninguém neste nome. 18E chamando-os, ordenaram-lhes que nunca mais falassem nem ensinassem no nome de Jesus. 19Mas, respondendo Pedro, e João, disseram-lhes: Julgai se é justo diante de Deus, ouvir a vós mais do que a Deus; 20Porque nós não podemos deixar de falar daquilo que temos visto e ouvido. 21Mas eles, tendo os ameaçado ainda mais, nada acharam de motivo para os castigar, e os deixaram ir por causa do povo; porque todos glorificavam a Deus pelo que tinha acontecido. 22Porque era de mais de quarenta anos o homem em quem este milagre de cura tinha sido feito. 23E eles, tendo sido soltos, vieram aos seus companheiros , e lhes contaram tudo o que os chefes dos sacerdotes e os anciãos tinham lhes dito. 24E eles, ao ouvirem isto , levantaram concordantes a voz a Deus, e disseram: Senhor, tu és o Deus que fizeste o céu, a terra, o mar, e todas as coisas que neles há; 25Que pelo Espírito Santo por meio da boca de nosso pai, teu servo Davi disseste: Por que os gentios se irritam, e os povos gastam seus pensamentos em coisas vãs? 26Os reis da terra se levantaram, e os príncipes se juntaram em um mesmo propósito contra o Senhor, e contra o seu Ungido. 27Porque verdadeiramente contra teu Santo Filho Jesus, ao qual tu ungiste, se ajuntaram, tanto Herodes, como Pôncio Pilatos, com os gentios e os povos de Israel. 28Para fazerem tudo o que a tua mão e o teu conselho desde antes tinha determinado para acontecer. 29E agora, Senhor, observa as ameaças deles, e dá a teus servos, que com toda ousadia falem tua palavra; 30Estendendo tua mão para a cura, e que se façam sinais e milagres pelo nome de teu Santo filho Jesus. 31E tendo orado, agitou-se o lugar em que eles estavam juntos, e foram todos cheios do Espírito Santo, e falavam a palavra de Deus com ousadia. 32E a multidão dos que criam, era de um só oração e uma só alma; e ninguém dizia ser próprio coisa alguma de seus bens, mas todas as coisas lhes eram comuns. 33E com grande poder os apóstolos davam testemunho da ressurreição do Senhor Jesus; e em todos eles havia grande graça. 34Porque também nenhum necessitado havia entre eles; porque todos os que possuíam propriedades de terras, ou casas, vendendo -as ,traziam o valor das coisas vendidas, e o depositavam junto aos pés dos apóstolos. 35E a cada um se repartia segundo cada qual tinha necessidade. 36E José, chamado pelos apóstolos pelo sobrenome de Barnabé (que traduzido é filho da consolação), levita, natural do Chipre, 37Tendo ele uma propriedade de terra, vendeu -a ,e trouxe o valor, e o depositou junto aos pés dos apóstolos.
1As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them, 2being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening. 4But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. 5In the morning, their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem. 6Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest. 7When they had stood them in the middle of them, they inquired, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?” 8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, 9if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, 10be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole. 11He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’ 12There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!” 13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus. 14Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16saying, “What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it. 17But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.” 18They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves, 20for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.” 21When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done. 22For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was more than forty years old. 23Being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, “O Lord, you are God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them; 25who by the mouth of your servant, David, said, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing? 26The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.’ 27“For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together 28to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen. 29Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, 30while you stretch out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.” 31When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. 32The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Great grace was on them all. 34For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35and laid them at the apostles’ feet, and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need. 36Joses, who by the apostles was also called Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race, 37having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
1En terwijl zij tot het volk spraken, kwamen daarover tot hen de priesters, en de hoofdman des tempels, en de Sadduceen; 2Zeer ontevreden zijnde, omdat zij het volk leerden, en verkondigden in Jezus de opstanding uit de doden. 3En zij sloegen de handen aan hen, en zetten ze in bewaring tot den anderen dag; want het was nu avond. 4En velen van degenen, die het woord gehoord hadden, geloofden; en het getal der mannen werd omtrent vijf duizend. 5En het geschiedde des anderen daags, dat hun oversten en ouderlingen en Schriftgeleerden te Jeruzalem vergaderden; 6En Annas, de hogepriester, en Kajafas, en Johannes, en Alexander, en zovele er van het hogepriesterlijk geslacht waren. 7En als zij hen in het midden gesteld hadden, vraagden zij: Door wat kracht, of door wat naam hebt gijlieden dit gedaan? 8Toen zeide Petrus, vervuld zijnde met den Heiligen Geest, tot hen: Gij oversten des volks, en gij ouderlingen van Israel! 9Alzo wij heden rechterlijk onderzocht worden over de weldaad aan een krank mens geschied, waardoor hij gezond geworden is; 10Zo zij u allen kennelijk, en het ganse volk Israel, dat door den Naam van Jezus Christus, den Nazarener, Dien gij gekruist hebt, Welken God van de doden heeft opgewekt, door Hem, zeg ik, staat deze hier voor u gezond. 11Deze is de Steen, Die van u, de bouwlieden, veracht is, Welke tot een hoofd des hoeks geworden is. 12En de zaligheid is in geen Anderen; want er is ook onder den hemel geen andere Naam, Die onder de mensen gegeven is, door Welken wij moeten zalig worden. 13Zij nu, ziende de vrijmoedigheid van Petrus en Johannes, en vernemende, dat zij ongeleerde en slechte mensen waren, verwonderden zich, en kenden hen, dat zij met Jezus geweest waren. 14En ziende den mens bij hen staan, die genezen was, hadden zij niets daartegen te zeggen. 15En hun geboden hebbende uit te gaan buiten den raad, overlegden zij met elkander, 16Zeggende: Wat zullen wij dezen mensen doen? Want dat er een bekend teken door hen geschied is, is openbaar aan allen, die te Jeruzalem wonen, en wij kunnen het niet loochenen. 17Maar opdat het niet meer en meer onder het volk verspreid worde, laat ons hen scherpelijk dreigen, dat zij niet meer tot enig mens in dezen Naam spreken. 18En als zij hen geroepen hadden, zeiden zij hun aan, dat zij ganselijk niet zouden spreken, noch leren, in den Naam van Jezus. 19Maar Petrus en Johannes, antwoordende, zeiden tot hen: Oordeelt gij, of het recht is voor God, ulieden meer te horen dan God. 20Want wij kunnen niet laten te spreken, hetgeen wij gezien en gehoord hebben. 21Maar zij dreigden hen nog meer, en lieten ze gaan, niets vindende, hoe zij hen straffen zouden, om des volks wil; want zij verheerlijkten allen God over hetgeen er geschied was. 22Want de mens was meer dan veertig jaren oud, aan welken dit teken der genezing geschied was. 23En zij, losgelaten zijnde, kwamen tot de hunnen, en verkondigden al wat de overpriesters en de ouderlingen tot hen gezegd hadden. 24En als dezen dat hoorden, hieven zij eendrachtelijk hun stem op tot God, en zeiden: Heere! Gij zijt de God, Die gemaakt hebt den hemel, en de aarde, en de zee, en alle dingen, die in dezelve zijn. 25Die door den mond van David Uw knecht, gezegd hebt: Waarom woeden de heidenen, en hebben de volken ijdele dingen bedacht? 26De koningen der aarde zijn te zamen opgestaan, en de oversten zijn bijeenvergaderd tegen den Heere, en tegen Zijn Gezalfde. 27Want in der waarheid zijn vergaderd tegen Uw heilig Kind Jezus, Welken Gij gezalfd hebt, beiden Herodes en Pontius Pilatus, met de heidenen en de volken Israels; 28Om te doen al wat Uw hand en Uw raad te voren bepaald had, dat geschieden zou. 29En nu dan, Heere, zie op hun dreigingen, en geef Uw dienstknechten met alle vrijmoedigheid Uw woord te spreken; 30Daarin, dat Gij Uw hand uitstrekt tot genezing, en dat tekenen en wonderen geschieden door den Naam van Uw heilig Kind Jezus. 31En als zij gebeden hadden, werd de plaats, in welke zij vergaderd waren, bewogen. En zij werden allen vervuld met den Heiligen Geest, en spraken het Woord Gods met vrijmoedigheid. 32En de menigte van degenen, die geloofden, was een hart en een ziel; en niemand zeide, dat iets van hetgeen hij had, zijn eigen ware, maar alle dingen waren hun gemeen. 33En de apostelen gaven met grote kracht getuigenis van de opstanding van den Heere Jezus; en er was grote genade over hen allen. 34Want er was ook niemand onder hen, die gebrek had; want zovelen als er bezitters waren van landen of huizen, die verkochten zij, en brachten den prijs der verkochte goederen, en legden dien aan de voeten der apostelen. 35En aan een iegelijk werd uitgedeeld, naar dat elk van node had. 36En Joses, van de apostelen toegenaamd Barnabas (hetwelk is, overgezet zijnde, een zoon der vertroosting), een Leviet, van geboorte uit Cyprus, 37Alzo hij een akker had, verkocht dien, en bracht het geld, en legde het aan de voeten der apostelen.
