1Depois disto aconteceu, que Davi feriu aos filisteus, e os humilhou: e tomou Davi a Metegue-Ama da mão dos filisteus. 2Feriu também aos de Moabe, e mediu-os com cordel, fazendo-os lançar por terra; e mediu com dois cordéis para morte, e um cordel inteiro para vida; e foram os moabitas servos debaixo de tributo. 3Também feriu Davi a Hadadezer filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá, indo ele a estender seu termo até o rio de Eufrates. 4E tomou Davi deles mil e setecentos cavaleiros, e vinte mil homens a pé; e aleijou Davi os cavalos de todos os carros, exceto cem carros deles que deixou. 5E vieram os sírios de Damasco a dar ajuda a Hadadezer rei de Zobá; e Davi feriu dos sírios vinte e dois mil homens. 6Pôs logo Davi guarnição em Síria a de Damasco, e foram os sírios servos de Davi sujeitos a tributo. E o SENHOR guardou a Davi de onde quer que fosse. 7E tomou Davi os escudos de ouro que traziam os servos de Hadadezer, e levou-os a Jerusalém. 8Também de Betá e de Beerote, cidades de Hadadezer, tomou o rei Davi grande quantidade de bronze. 9Então ouvindo Toí, rei de Hamate, que Davi havia ferido todo aquele exército de Hadadezer, 10Enviou Toí a Jorão seu filho ao rei Davi, a saudar-lhe pacificamente e a bendizer-lhe, porque havia lutado com Hadadezer e o havia vencido: porque Toí era inimigo de Hadadezer. E Jorão levava em sua mão vasos de prata, e vasos de ouro, e de bronze; 11Os quais o rei Davi dedicou ao SENHOR, com a prata e o ouro que tinha dedicado de todas as nações que havia submetido: 12Dos sírios, dos moabitas, dos amonitas, dos filisteus, dos amalequitas, e do despojo de Hadadezer filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá. 13E ganhou Davi fama quando, voltando da derrota dos sírios, feriu dezoito mil homens no vale do sal. 14E pôs guarnição em Edom, por toda Edom pôs guarnição; e todos os edomitas foram servos de Davi. 1After this, David struck the Philistines, and subdued them; and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines. 2He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. 3David struck also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River. 4David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots. 5When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. 7David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass. 9When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer, 10then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: 11King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued; 12of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. 13David earned a reputation when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men. 14He put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. 15David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness to all his people. 16Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 17and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe; 18and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.

Alzo werden de Moabieten David tot knechten, brengende geschenken. 3David sloeg ook Hadad-ezer, den zoon van Rechob, den koning van Zoba, toen hij heentoog, om zijn hand te wenden naar de rivier Frath. 4En David nam hem duizend wagens af, en zevenhonderd ruiteren, en twintig duizend man te voet; en David ontzenuwde alle wagenpaarden, en hield daarvan honderd wagenen over. 5En de Syriers van Damaskus kwamen om Hadad-ezer, den koning van Zoba, te helpen; maar David sloeg van de Syriers twee en twintig duizend man. 6En David legde bezettingen in Syrie van Damaskus, en de Syriers werden David tot knechten, brengende geschenken; en de HEERE behoedde David overal, waar hij heentoog. 7En David nam de gouden schilden die bij Hadad-ezers knechten geweest waren, en bracht ze te Jeruzalem. 8Daartoe nam de koning David zeer veel kopers uit Betach, en uit Berothai, steden van Hadad-ezer. 9Als nu Thoi, de koning van Hamath, hoorde, dat David het ganse heir van Hadad-ezer geslagen had; 10Zo zond Thoi zijn zoon Joram tot den koning David, om hem te vragen naar zijn welstand, en om hem te zegenen, vanwege dat hij tegen Hadad-ezer gekrijgd en hem geslagen had, (want Hadad-ezer voerde steeds krijg tegen Thoi); en in zijn hand waren zilveren vaten, en gouden vaten, en koperen vaten; 11Welke de koning David ook den HEERE heiligde, met het zilver en het goud, dat hij geheiligd had van alle heidenen, die hij zich onderworpen had; 12Van Syrie, en van Moab, en van de kinderen Ammons, en van de Filistijnen, en van Amalek, en van den roof van Hadad-ezer, den zoon van Rechob, den koning van Zoba. 13Ook maakte zich David een naam, als hij wederkwam, nadat hij de Syriers geslagen had, in het Zoutdal, achttien duizend. 14En hij legde bezettingen in Edom; in gans Edom legde hij bezettingen; en alle Edomieten werden David tot knechten; en de HEERE behoedde David overal, waar hij heentoog. 15Alzo regeerde David over gans Israel, en David deed aan zijn ganse volk recht en gerechtigheid. 16Joab nu, de zoon van Zeruja, was over het heir; en Josafat, zoon van Achilud, was kanselier. 17En Zadok, zoon van Ahitub, en Achimelech, zoon van Abjathar, waren priesters; en Seraja was schrijver. 18Er was ook Benaja, zoon van Jojada, met de Krethi en de Plethi; maar Davids zonen waren prinsen.
