1이스라엘의 어렸을 때에 내가 사랑하여 내 아들을 애굽에서 불러내었거늘 2선지자들이 저희를 부를수록 저희가 점점 멀리하고 바알들에게 제사하며 아로새긴 우상 앞에서 분향하였느니라 3그러나 내가 에브라임에게 걸음을 가르치고 내 팔로 안을지라도 내가 저희를 고치는 줄을 저희가 알지 못하였도다 4내가 사람의 줄 곧 사랑의 줄로 저희를 이끌었고 저희에게 대하여 그 목에서 멍에를 벗기는 자 같이 되었으며 저희 앞에서 먹을 것을 두었었노라 5저희가 애굽 땅으로 다시 가지 못하겠거늘 내게 돌아오기를 싫어하니 앗수르 사람이 그 임금이 될 것이라 6칼이 저희의 성읍들을 치며 빗장을 깨뜨려 없이 하리니 이는 저희의 계책을 인함이니라 7내 백성이 결심하고 내게서 물러가나니 비록 저희를 불러 위에 계신 자에게로 돌아오라 할지라도 일어나는 자가 하나도 없도다 8에브라임이여 내가 어찌 너를 놓겠느냐 이스라엘이여 내가 어찌 너를 버리겠느냐 내가 어찌 아드마 같이 놓겠느냐 어찌 너를 스보임 같이 두겠느냐 내 마음이 내 속에서 돌아서 나의 긍휼이 온전히 불붙듯 하도다 9내가 나의 맹렬한 진노를 발하지 아니하며 내가 다시는 에브라임을 멸하지 아니하리니 이는 내가 사람이 아니요 하나님임이라 나는 네 가운데 거하는 거룩한 자니 진노함으로 네게 임하지 아니하리라 10저희가 사자처럼 소리를 발하시는 여호와를 좇을 것이라 여호와께서 소리를 발하시면 자손들이 서편에서부터 떨며 오되 11저희가 애굽에서부터 새 같이 앗수르에서부터 비둘기 같이 떨며 오리니 내가 저희로 각 집에 머물게 하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라 12에브라임은 거짓으로, 이스라엘 족속은 궤휼로 나를 에워쌌고 유다는 하나님 곧 신실하시고 거룩하신 자에게 대하여 정함이 없도다
1“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. 2They called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burned incense to engraved images. 3Yet I taught Ephraim to walk. I took them by his arms; but they didn’t know that I healed them. 4I drew them with cords of a man, with ties of love; and I was to them like those who lift up the yoke on their necks; and I bent down to him and I fed him. 5“They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent. 6The sword will fall on their cities, and will destroy the bars of their gates, and will put an end to their plans. 7My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them. 8“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused. 9I will not execute the fierceness of my anger. I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in your midst; and I will not come in wrath. 10They will walk after Yahweh, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west. 11They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says Yahweh. 12Ephraim surrounds me with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit. Judah still strays from God, and is unfaithful to the Holy One.
1Als Israel een kind was, toen heb Ik hem liefgehad, en Ik heb Mijn zoon uit Egypte uitgeroepen. 2Maar gelijk zij henlieden riepen, alzo gingen zij van hun aangezicht weg; zij offerden den Baals, en rookten den gesnedenen beelden. 3Ik nochtans leerde Efraim gaan; Hij nam ze op Zijn armen, maar zij bekenden niet, dat Ik ze genas. 4Ik trok ze met mensenzelen, met touwen der liefde, en was hun, als degenen, die het juk van op hun kinnebakken oplichten, en Ik reikte hem voeder toe. 5Hij zal in Egypteland niet wederkeren; maar Assur, die zal zijn koning zijn; omdat zij zich weigerden te bekeren. 6En het zwaard zal in zijn steden blijven, en zijn grendelen verteren, en opeten, vanwege hun beraadslagingen. 7Want Mijn volk blijft hangen aan de afkering van Mij; zij roepen het wel tot den Allerhoogste, maar niet een verhoogt Hem. 8Hoe zou Ik u overgeven, o Efraim? u overleveren, o Israel? Hoe zou Ik u maken als Adama, u stellen als Zeboim? Mijn hart is in Mij omgekeerd, al Mijn berouw is te zamen ontstoken. 9Ik zal de hittigheid Mijns toorns niet uitvoeren; Ik zal niet wederkeren om Efraim te verderven; want Ik ben God en geen mens, de Heilige in het midden van u, en Ik zal in de stad niet komen. 10Zij zullen den HEERE achterna wandelen, Hij zal brullen als een leeuw, wanneer Hij brullen zal, dan zullen de kinderen van de zee af al bevende aankomen. 11Zij zullen bevende aankomen als een vogeltje uit Egypte, en als een duif uit het land van Assur; en Ik zal hen doen wonen in hun huizen, spreekt de HEERE. 12Die van Efraim hebben Mij omsingeld met leugen, en het huis Israels met bedrog; maar Juda heerste nog met God, en was met de heiligen getrouw.
