1ここにイスラエルの人は皆ヘブロンにいるダビデのもとに集まって来て言った、「われわれは、あなたの骨肉です。 2先にサウルが王であった時にも、あなたはイスラエルを率いて出入りされました。そしてあなたの神、主はあなたに『あなたはわが民イスラエルを牧する者となり、わが民イスラエルの君となるであろう』と言われました」。 3このようにイスラエルの長老が皆ヘブロンにいる王のもとに来たので、ダビデはヘブロンで主の前に彼らと契約を結んだ。そして彼らは、サムエルによって語られた主の言葉に従ってダビデに油を注ぎ、イスラエルの王とした。 4ダビデとすべてのイスラエルはエルサレムへ行った。エルサレムはすなわちエブスであって、そこにはその地の住民であるエブスびとがいた。 5エブスの住民はダビデに言った、「あなたはここにはいってはならない」。しかし、ダビデはシオンの要害を取った。これがすなわちダビデの町である。 6この時ダビデは言った、「だれでも第一にエブスびとを撃つ者を、かしらとし、将とする」。ゼルヤの子ヨアブが第一にのぼっていったので、かしらとなった。 7そしてダビデがその要害に住んだので人々はこれをダビデの町と名づけた。 8ダビデはまたその町の周囲すなわちミロから四方に石がきを築き、ヨアブは町のほかの部分を繕った。 9こうしてダビデはますます大いなる者となった。万軍の主が彼とともにおられたからである。 10ダビデの勇士のおもなものは次のとおりである。彼らはイスラエルのすべての人とともにダビデに力をそえて国を得させ、主がイスラエルについて言われた言葉にしたがって、彼を王とした人々である。 11ダビデの勇士の数は次のとおりである。すなわち三人の長であるハクモニびとの子ヤショベアム、彼はやりをふるって三百人に向かい、一度にこれを殺した者である。 12彼の次はアホアびとドドの子エレアザルで、三勇士のひとりである。 13彼はダビデとともにパスダミムにいたが、ペリシテびとがそこに集まって来て戦った。そこに一面に大麦のはえた地所があった。民はペリシテびとの前から逃げた。 14しかし彼は地所の中に立ってこれを防ぎ、ペリシテびとを殺した。そして主は大いなる勝利を与えて彼らを救われた。 15三十人の長たちのうちの三人は下っていってアドラムのほらあなの岩の所にいるダビデのもとへ行った。時にペリシテびとの軍勢はレパイムの谷に陣を取っていた。 16その時ダビデは要害におり、ペリシテびとの先陣はベツレヘムにあったが、 17ダビデはせつに望んで、「だれかベツレヘムの門のかたわらにある井戸の水をわたしに飲ませてくれるとよいのだが」と言った。 18そこでその三人はペリシテびとの陣を突き通って、ベツレヘムの門のかたわらにある井戸の水をくみ取って、ダビデのもとに携えて来た。しかしダビデはそれを飲もうとはせず、それを主の前に注いで、 19言った、「わが神よ、わたしは断じてこれをいたしません。命をかけて行ったこの人たちの血をどうしてわたしは飲むことができましょう。彼らは命をかけてこの水をとって来たのです」。それゆえ、ダビデはこの水を飲もうとはしなかった。三勇士はこのことをおこなった。 20ヨアブの兄弟アビシャイは三十人の長であった。彼はやりをふるって三百人に立ち向かい、これを殺して三人のほかに名を得た。 21彼は三十人のうち、最も尊ばれた者で、彼らのかしらとなった。しかし、かの三人には及ばなかった。 22エホヤダの子ベナヤは、カブジエル出身の勇士であって、多くのてがらを立てた。彼はモアブのアリエルのふたりの子を撃ち殺した。彼はまた雪の日に下っていって、穴の中でししを撃ち殺した。 23彼はまた身のたけ五キュビトばかりのエジプトびとを撃ち殺した。そのエジプトびとは手に機の巻棒ほどのやりを持っていたが、ベナヤはつえをとって彼の所へ下って行き、エジプトびとの手から、やりをもぎとり、そのやりをもって彼を殺した。 24エホヤダの子ベナヤは、これらの事を行って三勇士のほかに名を得た。 25彼は三十人のうちに有名であったが、かの三人には及ばなかった。ダビデは彼を侍衛の長とした。 26軍団のうちの勇士はヨアブの兄弟アサヘル。ベツレヘム出身のドドの子エルハナン。 27ハロデ出身のシャンマ。ペロンびとヘレヅ。 28テコア出身のイッケシの子イラ。アナトテ出身のアビエゼル。 29ホシャテびとシベカイ。アホアびとイライ。 30ネトパ出身のマハライ。ネトパ出身のバアナの子ヘレデ。 31ベニヤミンびとのギベアから出たリバイの子イタイ。ピラトンのベナヤ。 32ガアシの谷のホライ。アルバテびとアビエル。 33バハルム出身のアズマウテ。シャルボン出身のエリヤバ。 34ギゾンびとハセム。ハラルびとシャゲの子ヨナタン。 35ハラルびとサカルの子アヒアム。ウルの子エリパル。 36メケラテびとヘペル。ペロンびとアヒヤ。 37カルメル出身のヘズロ。エズバイの子ナアライ。 38ナタンの兄弟ヨエル。ハグリの子ミブハル。 39アンモンびとゼレク。ゼルヤの子ヨアブの武器を執るもの、ベエロテ出身のナハライ。 40イテルびとイラ。イテルびとガレブ。 41ヘテびとウリヤ。アハライの子ザバデ。 42ルベンびとシザの子アデナ。彼はルベンびとの長であって、三十人を率いた。 43またマアカの子ハナン。ミテニびとヨシャパテ。 44アシテラテびとウジヤ。アロエルびとホタムの子らシャマとエイエル。 45テジびとシムリの子エデアエルおよびその兄弟ヨハ。 46マハブびとエリエル。エルナアムの子らエリバイおよびヨシャビヤ。モアブびとイテマ。 47エリエル、オベデおよびメゾバびとヤシエルである。

1Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh. 2In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’” 3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to Yahweh’s word by Samuel. 4David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there. 5The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not come in here.” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is the city of David. 6David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief. 7David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David. 8He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city. 9David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh of Armies was with him. 10Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to Yahweh’s word concerning Israel. 11This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time. 12After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men. 13He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines. 14They stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory. 15Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim. 16David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 17David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” 18The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh, 19and said, “My God forbid it me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things. 20Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three. 21Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: however he didn’t attain to the three. 22Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow. 23He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear. 24Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men. 25Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three: and David set him over his guard. 26Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, 27Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite, 28Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite, 29Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite, 30Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite, 31Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite, 32Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite, 33Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite, 34the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite, 35Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur, 36Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite, 37Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai, 38Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri, 39Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah, 40Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite, 41Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai, 42Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and thirty with him, 43Hanan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite, 44Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite, 45Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite, 46Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite, 47Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.

1Toen vergaderde zich gans Israel tot David naar Hebron, zeggende: Zie, wij zijn uw gebeente en uw vlees. 2Zelfs ook te voren, toen Saul nog koning was, hebt gij Israel uitgeleid en ingeleid; ook heeft de HEERE, uw God, tot u gezegd: Gij zult Mijn volk Israel weiden, en gij zult voorganger zijn van Mijn volk Israel. 3Ook kwamen alle oudsten in Israel tot den koning van Hebron, en David maakte een verbond met hen te Hebron, voor het aangezicht des HEEREN; en zij zalfden David ten koning over Israel, naar het woord des HEEREN, door den dienst van Samuel. 4En David toog henen, en gans Israel, naar Jeruzalem, welke is Jebus; want daar waren de Jebusieten, de inwoners des lands. 5En de inwoners van Jebus zeiden tot David: Gij zult hier niet inkomen. David dan nog won den burg Sion, welke is de stad Davids. 6Want David zeide: Al wie de Jebusieten het eerst slaat, zal tot een hoofd, en tot een overste worden. Toen beklom Joab, de zoon van Zeruja, dien het eerst; daarom werd hij tot een hoofd. 7David nu woonde op den burg; daarom heet men dien de stad Davids. 8En hij bouwde de stad rondom, van Millo af, en rondom henen; en Joab vernieuwde het overige der stad. 9En David ging geduriglijk voort, en werd groot, want de HEERE der heirscharen was met hem. 10Dezen nu waren de hoofden der helden, die David had, die zich dapper bij hem gedragen hebben in zijn koninkrijk bij geheel Israel, om hem koning te maken, naar het woord des HEEREN over Israel. 11Dezen nu zijn van het getal der helden, die David had: Jasobam, de zoon van Hachmoni, was het hoofd der dertigen, die zijn spies tegen driehonderd opheffende, hen op eenmaal versloeg. 12En na hem was Eleazar, de zoon van Dodo, de Ahohiet; hij was onder die drie helden. 13Hij was met David te Pas-Dammim, als de Filistijnen daar ten strijde vergaderd waren, en het stuk des akkers vol gerst was, en het volk voor het aangezicht der Filistijnen vlood; 14En zij stelden zich in het midden van dat stuk, en beschermden het, en zij sloegen de Filistijnen; en de HEERE verloste hen door een grote verlossing. 15En drie uit de dertig hoofden togen af naar den rotssteen tot David in de spelonk van Adullam; en het leger der Filistijnen had zich gelegerd in het dal Refaim. 16En David was toen in de vesting en de bezetting der Filistijnen was toen te Bethlehem. 17En David kreeg lust, en zeide: Wie zal mij water te drinken geven uit Bethlehems bornput, die onder de poort is? 18Toen braken die drie door het leger der Filistijnen, en putten water uit Bethlehems bornput, die onder de poort is, en zij droegen het en brachten het tot David. Doch David wilde het niet drinken, maar hij goot het uit voor den HEERE; 19En hij zeide: Dat late mijn God verre van mij zijn, van zulks te doen! Zou ik het bloed dezer mannen drinken? Met gevaar huns levens, ja, met gevaar huns levens hebben zij dat gebracht. En hij wilde het niet drinken. Dit deden de drie helden. 20Abisai nu, de broeder van Joab, was ook het hoofd van drie; en hij, verheffende zijn spies tegen driehonderd, versloeg hen; alzo had hij een naam onder die drie. 21Uit die drie was hij geeerd boven de twee; daarom werd hij hun tot een overste; maar hij kwam tot aan de eerste drie niet. 22Benaja, de zoon van Jojada, de zoon eens dapperen mans van Kabzeel, was groot van daden; hij versloeg twee sterke leeuwen van Moab; ook ging hij af, en versloeg een leeuw in het midden des kuils, in den sneeuwtijd. 23Hij versloeg ook een Egyptischen man, een man van grote lengte, van vijf ellen; en die Egyptenaar had een spies in de hand, als een weversboom; maar hij ging tot hem af met een staf, en rukte de spies uit de hand des Egyptenaars, en hij doodde hem met zijn eigen spies. 24Deze dingen deed Benaja, de zoon van Jojada; dies had hij een naam onder die drie helden. 25Ziet, hij was de heerlijkste van die dertig; nochtans kwam hij tot aan de drie niet. En David stelde hem over zijn trawanten. 26De helden nu der heiren waren: Asahel, de broeder van Joab; Elhanan, de zoon van Dodo, van Bethlehem; 27Sammoth, de Harodiet; Helez, de Peloniet; 28Ira, de zoon van Ikkes, de Thekoiet; Abiezer, de Anathothiet; 29Sibbechai, de Husathiet; Ilai, de Ahohiet; 30Maharai, de Netofathiet; Heled, de zoon van Baana, de Netofathiet; 31Ithai, de zoon van Ribai, van Gibea der kinderen Benjamins; Benaja, de Pirhathoniet; 32Hurai, van de beken van Gaas; Abiel; de Arbathiet; 33Azmaveth, de Baharumiet; Eljahba, de Saalboniet; 34Van de kinderen van Hasem, den Gizoniet, was Jonathan, de zoon van Sage, de Harariet; 35Ahiam, de zoon van Sachar, de Harariet; Elifal, de zoon van Ur; 36Hefer, de Mecherathiet; Ahia, de Peloniet; 37Hezro, de Karmeliet; Naari, de zoon van Ezbai; 38Joel, de broeder van Nathan; Mibhar, de zoon van Geri; 39Zelek, de Ammoniet; Nahrai, de Berothiet, wapendrager van Joab, den zoon van Zeruja; 40Ira, de Jithriet; Gareb, de Jithriet; 41Uria, de Hethiet; Zabad, de zoon van Ahlai; 42Adina, de zoon van Siza, de Rubeniet, was het hoofd der Rubenieten; nochtans waren er dertig boven hem; 43Hanan, de zoon van Maacha, en Josafat, de Mithniet; 44Uzzia, de Asterathiet; Sama, en Jeiel, de zoon van Hotham, den Aroeriet; 45Jediael, de zoon van Simri, en Joha, zijn broeder, de Tiziet; 46Eliel Hammahavim en Jeribai, en Josavia, de zonen van Elnaam; en Jithma, de Moabiet; 47Eliel, en Obed, en Jaaziel van Mezobaja.
