Amos 3

1Ascoltate questa parola che l’Eterno pronunzia contro di voi, o figliuoli d’Israele, contro tutta la famiglia ch’io trassi fuori dal paese d’Egitto: 2Voi soli ho conosciuto fra tutte le famiglie della terra; perciò io vi punirò per tutte le vostre iniquità. 3Due uomini camminano eglino assieme, se prima non si sono concertati? 4Il leone rugge egli nella foresta, se non ha una preda? il leoncello fa egli udir la sua voce dalla sua tana, se non ha preso nulla? 5L’uccello cade egli nella rete in terra, se non gli è tesa un insidia? La tagliuola scatta essa dal suolo, se non ha preso qualcosa? 6La tromba suona essa in una città, senza che il popolo tremi? Una sciagura piomba ella sopra una città, senza che l’Eterno ne sia l’autore? 7Poiché il Signore, l’Eterno, non fa nulla, senza rivelare il suo segreto ai suoi servi, i profeti. 8Il leone rugge, chi non temerà? Il Signore, l’Eterno, parla, chi non profeterà? 9Proclamate questo sui palazzi d’Asdod e sui palazzi del paese d’Egitto; dite: "Adunatevi sui monti di Samaria, e vedete che grandi disordini esistono in mezzo ad essa, e quali oppressioni han luogo nel suo seno". 10Essi non sanno fare ciò ch’è retto, dice l’Eterno; accumulano nei loro palazzi i frutti della violenza e della rapina. 11perciò, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ecco il nemico, tutt’attorno al paese; egli abbatterà la tua forza, e i tuoi palazzi saran saccheggiati. 12Così parla l’Eterno: Come il pastore strappa dalla gola del leone due gambe o un pezzo d’orecchio, così scamperanno i figliuoli d’Israele che in Samaria stanno ora seduti sull’angolo d’un divano o sui damaschi d’un letto. 13Ascoltate questo e attestatelo alla casa di Giacobbe! dice il Signore, l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti: 14(H3-13) Il giorno che io punirò Israele delle sue trasgressioni, punirò anche gli altari di Bethel; e i corni dell’altare saranno spezzati e cadranno al suolo. 15(H3-14) E abbatterò le case d’inverno e le case d’estate; le case d’avorio saranno distrutte, e le grandi case spariranno, dice l’Eterno.

1Hear this word that Yahweh has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying: 2“You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.” 3Do two walk together, unless they have agreed? 4Will a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing? 5Can a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch? 6Does the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and Yahweh hasn’t done it? 7Surely the Lord Yahweh will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets. 8The lion has roared. Who will not fear? The Lord Yahweh has spoken. Who can but prophesy? 9Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them.” 10“Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.” 11Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “An adversary will overrun the land; and he will pull down your strongholds, and your fortresses will be plundered.” 12Thus says Yahweh: “As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.” 13“Listen, and testify against the house of Jacob,” says the Lord Yahweh, the God of Armies. 14“For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground. 15I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will have an end,” says Yahweh.

1Hoort dit woord, dat de HEERE tegen ulieden spreekt, gij kinderen van Israel! namelijk tegen het ganse geslacht, dat Ik uit Egypteland heb opgevoerd, zeggende: 2Uit alle geslachten des aardbodems heb Ik ulieden alleen gekend; daarom zal Ik al uw ongerechtigheden over ulieden bezoeken. 3Zullen twee te zamen wandelen, tenzij dat zij bijeengekomen zijn? 4Zal een leeuw brullen in het woud, als hij geen roof heeft? Zal een jonge leeuw uit zijn hol zijn stem verheffen, tenzij dat hij wat gevangen hebbe? 5Zal een vogel in den strik op de aarde vallen, als er geen strik voor hem is? Zal men den strik van den aardbodem opnemen, als men ganselijk niet heeft gevangen? 6Zal de bazuin in de stad geblazen worden, dat het volk niet siddere? zal er een kwaad in de stad zijn, dat de HEERE niet doet? 7Gewisselijk, de Heere HEERE zal geen ding doen, tenzij Hij Zijn verborgenheid aan Zijn knechten, de profeten, geopenbaard hebbe. 8De leeuw heeft gebruld, wie zou niet vrezen? De Heere HEERE heeft gesproken, wie zou niet profeteren? 9Doet het horen in de paleizen te Asdod, en in de paleizen in Egypteland, en zegt: Verzamelt u op de bergen van Samaria, en ziet de grote beroerten in het midden van haar, en de verdrukten binnen in haar. 10Want zij weten niet te doen, dat recht is, spreekt de HEERE; die in hun paleizen schatten vergaderen door geweld en verstoring. 11Daarom, zo zegt de Heere HEERE: De vijand! en dat rondom het land! die zal uw sterkte van u nederstorten, en uw paleizen zullen uitgeplunderd worden. 12Alzo zegt de HEERE: Gelijk als een herder twee schenkelen, of een stukje van een oor uit des leeuwen muil redt, alzo zullen de kinderen Israels gered worden, die daar zitten te Samaria, in den hoek van het bed, en op de sponde van de koets. 13Hoort en betuigt in het huis Jakobs, spreekt de Heere HEERE, de God der heirscharen; 14Dat Ik, ten dage als Ik Israels overtredingen over hem bezoeken zal, ook bezoeking zal doen over de altaren van Beth-El; en de hoornen des altaars zullen worden afgehouwen, en ter aarde vallen. 15En Ik zal het winterhuis met het zomerhuis slaan; en de elpenbenen huizen zullen vergaan, en de grote huizen een einde nemen, spreekt de HEERE.
