Palm Sunday – Easter
The last week on the map
From the Mount of Olives to the temple, from an upper room to an olive grove, from a court of judgement to a hill outside the city, and then to an empty tomb. Choose a day and see where Jesus went.
Jerusalem, day by day
The plan shows the city in the time of Jesus. Choose a day: the red line follows his route, and the numbers match the list alongside.
Palm Sunday
Entry on a donkey
At Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sends for a young donkey.
Mark 11:1–7As they go down the Mount of Olives the crowd cheers, and Jesus weeps over the city.
Luke 19:37–44In the temple He looks around at everything.
Mark 11:11Because it is already late, He goes out to Bethany with the Twelve.
Mark 11:11
Kilometres that week
Jesus and his disciples walked every day. A few distances the Bible itself gives.
- ± 3 km
from Bethany to the city: fifteen stadia, there and back every day
John 11:18 - ± 11 km
to Emmaus: sixty stadia, walked twice on Easter evening
Luke 24:13 - ± 1 km
from the city across the Kidron to Gethsemane
John 18:1
Where exactly was it?
Honest, also where Christians think differently.
Where was Golgotha?
Where was the praetorium?
Where was the upper room?
Did everything happen on these days?
