1Και έλεγε προς αυτούς· Αληθώς, σας λέγω ότι είναι τινές των εδώ ισταμένων, οίτινες δεν θέλουσι γευθή θάνατον, εωσού ίδωσι την βασιλείαν του Θεού ελθούσαν μετά δυνάμεως. 2Και μεθ' ημέρας εξ παραλαμβάνει ο Ιησούς τον Πέτρον και τον Ιάκωβον και τον Ιωάννην και αναβιβάζει αυτούς εις όρος υψηλόν κατ' ιδίαν μόνους· και μετεμορφώθη έμπροσθεν αυτών· 3και τα ιμάτια αυτού έγειναν στιλπνά, λευκά λίαν ως χιών, οποία λευκαντής επί της γης δεν δύναται να λευκάνη. 4Και εφάνη εις αυτούς ο Ηλίας μετά του Μωϋσέως, και ήσαν συλλαλούντες μετά του Ιησού. 5Και αποκριθείς ο Πέτρος λέγει προς τον Ιησούν· Ραββί, καλόν είναι να ήμεθα εδώ· και ας κάμωμεν τρεις σκηνάς, διά σε μίαν και διά τον Μωϋσήν μίαν και διά τον Ηλίαν μίαν. 6Διότι δεν ήξευρε τι να είπη· επειδή ήσαν πεφοβισμένοι. 7Και νεφέλη επεσκίασεν αυτούς, και ήλθε φωνή εκ της νεφέλης, λέγουσα· Ούτος είναι ο Υιός μου ο αγαπητός· αυτού ακούετε. 8Και εξαίφνης περιβλέψαντες, δεν είδον πλέον ουδένα, αλλά τον Ιησούν μόνον μεθ' εαυτών. 9Ενώ δε κατέβαινον από του όρους, παρήγγειλεν εις αυτούς να μη διηγηθώσιν εις μηδένα όσα είδον, ειμή όταν ο Υιός του ανθρώπου αναστηθή εκ νεκρών. 10Και εφύλαξαν τον λόγον εν εαυτοίς, συζητούντες προς αλλήλους τι είναι το να αναστηθή εκ νεκρών. 11Και ηρώτων αυτόν λέγοντες, Διά τι λέγουσιν οι γραμματείς ότι πρέπει να έλθη ο Ηλίας πρώτον; 12Ο δε αποκριθείς είπε προς αυτούς· Ο Ηλίας μεν ελθών πρώτον αποκαθιστά πάντα· και ότι είναι γεγραμμένον περί του Υιού του ανθρώπου ότι πρέπει να πάθη πολλά και να εξουδενωθή· 13σας λέγω όμως ότι και ο Ηλίας ήλθε, και έπραξαν εις αυτόν όσα ηθέλησαν, καθώς είναι γεγραμμένον περί αυτού. 14Και ότε ήλθε προς τους μαθητάς, είδε περί αυτούς όχλον πολύν και γραμματείς κάμνοντας συζητήσεις μετ' αυτών. 15Και ευθύς πας ο όχλος ιδών αυτόν έγεινεν έκθαμβος και προστρέχοντες ησπάζοντο αυτόν. 16Και ηρώτησε τους γραμματείς· Τι συζητείτε μετ' αυτών; 17Και αποκριθείς εις εκ του όχλου, είπε· Διδάσκαλε, έφερα προς σε τον υιόν μου, έχοντα πνεύμα άλαλον. 18Και όπου πιάση αυτόν σπαράττει αυτόν, και αφρίζει και τρίζει τους οδόντας αυτού και ξηραίνεται· και είπον προς τους μαθητάς σου να εκβάλωσιν αυτό, αλλά δεν ηδυνήθησαν. 19Εκείνος δε αποκριθείς προς αυτόν, λέγει· Ω γενεά άπιστος, έως πότε θέλω είσθαι μεθ' υμών; έως πότε θέλω υπομένει υμάς; φέρετε αυτόν προς εμέ. 20Και έφεραν αυτόν προς αυτόν. Και ως είδεν αυτόν, ευθύς το πνεύμα εσπάραξεν αυτόν, και πεσών επί της γης εκυλίετο αφρίζων. 21Και ηρώτησε τον πατέρα αυτού· Πόσος καιρός είναι αφού τούτο έγεινεν εις αυτόν; Ο δε είπε· Παιδιόθεν. 22Και πολλάκις αυτόν και εις πυρ έρριψε και εις ύδατα, διά να απολέση αυτόν· αλλ' εάν δύνασαί τι, βοήθησον ημάς, σπλαγχνισθείς εφ' ημάς. 23Ο δε Ιησούς είπε προς αυτόν· Το εάν δύνασαι να πιστεύσης, πάντα είναι δυνατά εις τον πιστεύοντα. 24Και ευθύς κράξας ο πατήρ του παιδίου μετά δακρύων, έλεγε· Πιστεύω, Κύριε· βοήθει εις την απιστίαν μου. 25Ιδών δε ο Ιησούς ότι επισυντρέχει όχλος, επετίμησε το πνεύμα το ακάθαρτον, λέγων προς αυτό· το πνεύμα το άλαλον και κωφόν, εγώ σε προστάζω, Έξελθε απ' αυτού και μη εισέλθης πλέον εις αυτόν. 26Και το πνεύμα κράξαν και πολλά σπαράξαν αυτόν, εξήλθε, και έγεινεν ως νεκρός, ώστε πολλοί έλεγον ότι απέθανεν. 27Ο δε Ιησούς πιάσας αυτόν από της χειρός ήγειρεν αυτόν, και εσηκώθη. 28Και ότε εισήλθεν εις οίκον, οι μαθηταί αυτού ηρώτων αυτόν κατ' ιδίαν, Διά τι ημείς δεν ηδυνήθημεν να εκβάλωμεν αυτό; 29Και είπε προς αυτούς· Τούτο το γένος δεν δύναται να εξέλθη δι' ουδενός άλλου τρόπου ειμή διά προσευχής και νηστείας. 30Και εξελθόντες εκείθεν διέβαινον διά της Γαλιλαίας, και δεν ήθελε να μάθη τούτο ουδείς. 31Διότι εδίδασκε τους μαθητάς αυτού και έλεγε προς αυτούς ότι ο Υιός του ανθρώπου παραδίδεται εις χείρας ανθρώπων, και θέλουσι θανατώσει αυτόν, και θανατωθείς την τρίτην ημέραν θέλει αναστηθή. 32Εκείνοι όμως δεν ηνόουν τον λόγον και εφοβούντο να ερωτήσωσιν αυτόν. 33Και ήλθεν εις Καπερναούμ· και ότε εισήλθεν εις την οικίαν, ηρώτα αυτούς· Τι διελογίζεσθε καθ' οδόν προς αλλήλους; 34Οι δε εσιώπων· διότι καθ' οδόν διελέχθησαν προς αλλήλους τις είναι μεγαλήτερος. 35Και καθήσας εκάλεσε τους δώδεκα και λέγει προς αυτούς· Όστις θέλει να ήναι πρώτος, θέλει είσθαι πάντων έσχατος και πάντων υπηρέτης. 36Και λαβών παιδίον έστησεν αυτό εν τω μέσω αυτών, και εναγκαλισθείς αυτό είπε προς αυτούς· 37Όστις δεχθή εν των τοιούτων παιδίων εις το όνομά μου, εμέ δέχεται· και όστις δεχθή εμέ, δεν δέχεται εμέ, αλλά τον αποστείλαντά με. 38Απεκρίθη δε προς αυτόν ο Ιωάννης, λέγων· Διδάσκαλε, είδομέν τινά εκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια εις το όνομά σου, όστις δεν ακολουθεί ημάς, και ημποδίσαμεν αυτόν, διότι δεν ακολουθεί ημάς. 39Ο δε Ιησούς είπε· Μη εμποδίζετε αυτόν· διότι δεν είναι ουδείς όστις θέλει κάμει θαύμα εις το όνομά μου και θέλει δυνηθή ευθύς να με κακολογήση. 40Επειδή όστις δεν είναι καθ' ημών, είναι υπέρ ημών. 41Διότι όστις σας ποτίση ποτήριον ύδατος εις το όνομά μου, επειδή είσθε του Χριστού, αληθώς σας λέγω, δεν θέλει χάσει τον μισθόν αυτού. 42Και όστις σκανδαλίση ένα των μικρών των πιστευόντων εις εμέ, συμφέρει εις αυτόν καλήτερον να περιτεθή μύλου πέτρα περί τον τράχηλον αυτού και να ριφθή εις την θάλασσαν. 43Και εάν σε σκανδαλίζη η χειρ σου, απόκοψον αυτήν· καλήτερόν σοι είναι να εισέλθης εις την ζωήν κουλλός, παρά έχων τας δύο χείρας να απέλθης εις την γέενναν, εις το πυρ το άσβεστον, 44όπου ο σκώληξ αυτών δεν τελευτά και το πυρ δεν σβύνεται. 45Και εάν ο πους σου σε σκανδαλίζη, απόκοψον αυτόν· καλήτερόν σοι είναι να εισέλθης εις την ζωήν χωλός, παρά έχων τους δύο πόδας να ριφθής εις την γέενναν, εις το πυρ το άσβεστον, 46όπου ο σκώληξ αυτών δεν τελευτά και το πυρ δεν σβύνεται. 47Και εάν ο οφθαλμός σου σε σκανδαλίζη, έκβαλε αυτόν· καλήτερόν σοι είναι να εισέλθης μονόφθαλμος εις την βασιλείαν του Θεού, παρά έχων δύο οφθαλμούς να ριφθής εις την γέενναν του πυρός, 48όπου ο σκώληξ αυτών δεν τελευτά και το πυρ δεν σβύνεται. 49Διότι πας τις με πυρ θέλει αλατισθή, και πάσα θυσία με άλας θέλει αλατισθή. 50Καλόν το άλας· αλλ' εάν το άλας γείνη ανάλατον, με τι θέλετε αρτύσει αυτό; έχετε άλας εν εαυτοίς και ειρηνεύετε εν αλλήλοις.
1He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death until they see the Kingdom of God come with power.” 2After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them. 3His clothing became glistening, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4Elijah and Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus. 5Peter answered Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6For he didn’t know what to say, for they were very afraid. 7A cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” 8Suddenly looking around, they saw no one with them any more, except Jesus only. 9As they were coming down from the mountain, he commanded them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant. 11They asked him, saying, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 12He said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised? 13But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him.” 14Coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude around them, and scribes questioning them. 15Immediately all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him greeted him. 16He asked the scribes, “What are you asking them?” 17One of the multitude answered, “Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit; 18and wherever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and wastes away. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they weren’t able.” 19He answered him, “Unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.” 20They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth. 21He asked his father, “How long has it been since this has come to him?” He said, “From childhood. 22Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.” 23Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!” 25When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!” 26Having cried out, and convulsed greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead; so much that most of them said, “He is dead.” 27But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose. 28When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” 29He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.” 30They went out from there, and passed through Galilee. He didn’t want anyone to know it. 31For he was teaching his disciples, and said to them, “The Son of Man is being handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again.” 32But they didn’t understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. 33He came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing among yourselves on the way?” 34But they were silent, for they had disputed one with another on the way about who was the greatest. 35He sat down, and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If any man wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.” 36He took a little child, and set him in their midst. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, 37“Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, doesn’t receive me, but him who sent me.” 38John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow us.” 39But Jesus said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me. 40For whoever is not against us is on our side. 41For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Christ’s, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward. 42Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he were thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck. 43If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire, 44‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 45If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire that will never be quenched— 46‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 47If your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It is better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehennaof fire, 48‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 49For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. 50Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

Brengt hem tot Mij. 20En zij brachten denzelven tot Hem; en als hij Hem zag, scheurde hem terstond de geest; en hij vallende op de aarde, wentelde zich al schuimende. 21En Hij vraagde zijn vader: Hoe langen tijd is het, dat hem dit overkomen is? En hij zeide: Van zijn kindsheid af. 22En menigmaal heeft hij hem ook in het vuur en in het water geworpen, om hem te verderven; maar zo Gij iets kunt, wees met innerlijke ontferming over ons bewogen, en help ons. 23En Jezus zeide tot hem: Zo gij kunt geloven, alle dingen zijn mogelijk dengene, die gelooft. 24En terstond de vader des kinds, roepende met tranen, zeide: Ik geloof, Heere! kom mijn ongelovigheid te hulp. 25En Jezus ziende, dat de schare gezamenlijk toeliep, bestrafte den onreinen geest, zeggende tot hem: Gij stomme en dove geest! Ik beveel u, ga uit van hem, en kom niet meer in hem. 26En hij, roepende en hem zeer scheurende, ging uit; en het kind werd als dood, alzo dat velen zeiden, dat het gestorven was. 27En Jezus, hem bij de hand grijpende, richtte hem op; en hij stond op. 28En als Hij in huis gegaan was, vraagden Hem Zijn discipelen alleen: Waarom hebben wij hem niet kunnen uitwerpen? 29En Hij zeide tot hen: Dit geslacht kan nergens door uitgaan, dan door bidden en vasten. 30En van daar weggaande, reisden zij door Galilea; en Hij wilde niet, dat het iemand wist. 31Want Hij leerde Zijn discipelen, en zeide tot hen: De Zoon des mensen zal overgeleverd worden in de handen der mensen, en zij zullen Hem doden, en gedood zijnde, zal Hij ten derden dage wederopstaan. 32Maar zij verstonden dat woord niet, en zij vreesden Hem te vragen. 33En Hij kwam te Kapernaum, en in het huis gekomen zijnde, vraagde Hij hun: Waarvan hadt gij woorden onder elkander op den weg? 34Doch zij zwegen; want zij waren onder elkander in woorden geweest op den weg, wie de meeste zou zijn. 35En nedergezeten zijnde, riep Hij de twaalven, en zeide tot hen: Indien iemand wil de eerste zijn, die zal de laatste van allen zijn, en aller dienaar. 36En nemende een kindeken, stelde Hij dat midden onder hen, en omving het met Zijn armen, en zeide tot hen: 37Zo wie een van zodanige kinderkens zal ontvangen in Mijn Naam, die ontvangt Mij; en zo wie Mij zal ontvangen, die ontvangt Mij niet, maar Dien, Die Mij gezonden heeft. 38En Johannes antwoordde Hem, zeggende: Meester! wij hebben een gezien, die de duivelen uitwierp in Uw Naam, welke ons niet volgt; en wij hebben het hem verboden, omdat hij ons niet volgt. 39Doch Jezus zeide: Verbiedt hem niet; want er is niemand, die een kracht doen zal in Mijn Naam, en haastelijk van Mij zal kunnen kwalijk spreken. 40Want wie tegen ons niet is, die is voor ons. 41Want zo wie ulieden een beker water zal te drinken geven in Mijn Naam, omdat gij discipelen van Christus zijt, voorwaar zeg Ik u, hij zal zijn loon geenszins verliezen. 42En zo wie een van deze kleinen, die in Mij geloven, ergert, het ware hem beter, dat een molensteen om zijn hals gedaan ware, en dat hij in de zee geworpen ware. 43En indien uw hand u ergert, houwt ze af; het is u beter verminkt tot het leven in te gaan, dan de twee handen hebbende, heen te gaan in de hel, in het onuitblusselijk vuur; 44Waar hun worm niet sterft, en het vuur niet uitgeblust wordt. 45En indien uw voet u ergert, houwt hem af; het is u beter kreupel tot het leven in te gaan, dan de twee voeten hebbende, geworpen te worden in de hel, in het onuitblusselijk vuur; 46Waar hun worm niet sterft, en het vuur niet uitgeblust wordt. 47En indien uw oog u ergert, werpt het uit; het is u beter maar een oog hebbende in het Koninkrijk Gods in te gaan, dan twee ogen hebbende, in het helse vuur geworpen te worden; 48Waar hun worm niet sterft, en het vuur niet uitgeblust wordt. 49Want een ieder zal met vuur gezouten worden, en iedere offerande zal met zout gezouten worden. 50Het zout is goed; maar indien het zout onzout wordt, waarmede zult gij dat smakelijk maken? Hebt zout in uzelven, en houdt vrede onder elkander.
