1Και μεθ' ημέρας πάλιν εισήλθεν εις Καπερναούμ και ηκούσθη ότι είναι εις οίκον. 2Και ευθύς συνήχθησαν πολλοί, ώστε δεν εχώρουν πλέον αυτούς ουδέ τα πρόθυρα· και εκήρυττεν εις αυτούς τον λόγον. 3Και έρχονται προς αυτόν φέροντες παραλυτικόν, βασταζόμενον υπό τεσσάρων· 4και μη δυνάμενοι να πλησιάσωσιν εις αυτόν εξ αιτίας του όχλου, εχάλασαν την στέγην όπου ήτο, και διατρυπήσαντες καταβιβάζουσι τον κράββατον, εφ' ου κατέκειτο ο παραλυτικός. 5Ιδών δε ο Ιησούς την πίστιν αυτών, λέγει προς τον παραλυτικόν· Τέκνον, συγκεχωρημέναι είναι εις σε αι αμαρτίαι σου. 6Ήσαν δε τινές των γραμματέων εκεί καθήμενοι και διαλογιζόμενοι εν ταις καρδίαις αυτών· 7Διά τι ούτος λαλεί τοιαύτας βλασφημίας; τις δύναται να συγχωρή αμαρτίας ειμή εις, ο Θεός; 8Και ευθύς νοήσας ο Ιησούς διά του πνεύματος αυτού ότι ούτω διαλογίζονται καθ' εαυτούς, είπε προς αυτούς· Διά τι διαλογίζεσθε ταύτα εν ταις καρδίαις σας; 9τι είναι ευκολώτερον, να είπω προς τον παραλυτικόν, Συγκεχωρημέναι είναι αι αμαρτίαι σου, ή να είπω, Σηκώθητι και έπαρε τον κράββατόν σου και περιπάτει; 10αλλά διά να γνωρίσητε ότι έξουσίαν έχει ο Υιός του ανθρώπου επί της γης να συγχωρή αμαρτίας λέγει προς τον παραλυτικόν· 11Προς σε λέγω, Σηκώθητι και έπαρε τον κράββατόν σου και ύπαγε εις τον οίκόν σου. 12Και ηγέρθη ευθύς και σηκώσας τον κράββατον, εξήλθεν ενώπιον πάντων, ώστε εξεπλήττοντο πάντες και εδόξαζον τον Θεόν, λέγοντες ότι ουδέποτε είδομεν τοιαύτα. 13Και εξήλθε πάλιν παρά την θάλασσαν· και πας ο όχλος ήρχετο προς αυτόν, και εδίδασκεν αυτούς. 14Και διαβαίνων είδε Λευΐν τον του Αλφαίου καθήμενον εις το τελώνιον, και λέγει προς αυτόν· Ακολούθει με. Και σηκωθείς ηκολούθησεν αυτόν. 15Και ενώ εκάθητο εις την τράπεζαν εν τη οικία αυτού, συνεκάθηντο και πολλοί τελώναι και αμαρτωλοί μετά του Ιησού και των μαθητών αυτού· διότι ήσαν πολλοί, και ηκολούθησαν αυτόν. 16Οι δε γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι, ιδόντες αυτόν τρώγοντα μετά των τελωνών και αμαρτωλών, έλεγον προς τους μαθητάς αυτού· Διά τι μετά των τελωνών και αμαρτωλών τρώγει και πίνει; 17Και ακούσας ο Ιησούς, λέγει προς αυτούς· Δεν έχουσι χρείαν ιατρού οι υγιαίνοντες, αλλ' οι πάσχοντες· δεν ήλθον διά να καλέσω δικαίους αλλά αμαρτωλούς εις μετάνοιαν. 18Οι μαθηταί δε του Ιωάννου και οι των Φαρισαίων ενήστευον. Και έρχονται και λέγουσι προς αυτόν· Διά τι οι μαθηταί του Ιωάννου και οι των Φαρισαίων νηστεύουσιν, οι δε μαθηταί σου δεν νηστεύουσι; 19Και είπε προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Μήπως δύνανται οι υιοί του νυμφώνος, ενόσω ο νυμφίος είναι μετ' αυτών, να νηστεύωσιν; όσον καιρόν έχουσι τον νυμφίον μεθ' εαυτών, δεν δύνανται να νηστεύωσι· 20θέλουσιν όμως ελθεί ημέραι, όταν αφαιρεθή απ' αυτών ο νυμφίος, και τότε θέλουσι νηστεύσει εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις. 21Και ουδείς ράπτει επίρραμμα αγνάφου πανίου επί ιμάτιον παλαιόν· ει δε μη, το αναπλήρωμα αυτού το νέον αφαιρεί από του παλαιού, και γίνεται σχίσμα χειρότερον. 22Και ουδείς βάλλει οίνον νέον εις ασκούς παλαιούς· ει δε μη, ο οίνος ο νέος διασχίζει τους ασκούς, και ο οίνος εκχέεται και οι ασκοί φθείρονται· αλλά πρέπει οίνος νέος να βάλληται εις ασκούς νέους. 23Και ότε διέβαινεν εν σαββάτω διά των σπαρτών, οι μαθηταί αυτού, ενώ ώδευον, ήρχισαν να ανασπώσι τα αστάχυα. 24Και οι Φαρισαίοι έλεγον προς αυτόν· Ιδού, διά τι πράττουσιν εν τοις σάββασιν εκείνο, το οποίον δεν συγχωρείται; 25Και αυτός έλεγε προς αυτούς· Ποτέ δεν ανεγνώσατε τι έπραξεν ο Δαβίδ, ότε έλαβε χρείαν και επείνασεν αυτός και οι μετ' αυτού; 26πως εισήλθεν εις τον οίκον του Θεού επί Αβιάθαρ του αρχιερέως, και έφαγε τους άρτους της προθέσεως, τους οποίους δεν είναι συγκεχωρημένον ειμή εις τους ιερείς να φάγωσι, και έδωκε και εις τους όντας μετ' αυτού; 27Και έλεγε προς αυτούς· το σάββατον έγεινε διά τον άνθρωπον, ουχί ο άνθρωπος διά το σάββατον· 28ώστε ο Υιός του ανθρώπου κύριος είναι και του σαββάτου.
1When he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was heard that he was in the house. 2Immediately many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even around the door; and he spoke the word to them. 3Four people came, carrying a paralytic to him. 4When they could not come near to him for the crowd, they removed the roof where he was. When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the paralytic was lying on. 5Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” 6But there were some of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7“Why does this man speak blasphemies like that? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8Immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you reason these things in your hearts? 9Which is easier, to tell the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?’ 10But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic— 11“I tell you, arise, take up your mat, and go to your house.” 12He arose, and immediately took up the mat, and went out in front of them all; so that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!” 13He went out again by the seaside. All the multitude came to him, and he taught them. 14As he passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he arose and followed him. 15He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many, and they followed him. 16The scribes and the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why is it that he eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” 17When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” 18John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, and they came and asked him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?” 19Jesus said to them, “Can the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they can’t fast. 20But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day. 21No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, or else the patch shrinks and the new tears away from the old, and a worse hole is made. 22No one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine pours out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins.” 23He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields, and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain. 24The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?” 25He said to them, “Did you never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry—he, and those who were with him? 26How he entered into God’s house when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?” 27He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

Wie kan de zonden vergeven, dan alleen God? 8En Jezus, terstond in Zijn geest bekennende, dat zij alzo in zichzelven overdachten, zeide tot hen: Wat overdenkt gij deze dingen in uw harten? 9Wat is lichter, te zeggen tot den geraakte: De zonden zijn u vergeven, of te zeggen: Sta op, en neem uw beddeken op, en wandel? 10Doch opdat gij moogt weten, dat de Zoon des mensen macht heeft, om de zonden op de aarde te vergeven (zeide Hij tot den geraakte): 11Ik zeg u: Sta op, en neem uw beddeken op, en ga heen naar uw huis. 12En terstond stond hij op, en het beddeken opgenomen hebbende, ging hij uit in aller tegenwoordigheid; zodat zij zich allen ontzetten en verheerlijkten God, zeggende: Wij hebben nooit zulks gezien! 13En Hij ging wederom uit naar de zee; en de gehele schare kwam tot Hem, en Hij leerde hen. 14En voorbijgaande zag Hij Levi, den zoon van Alfeus, zitten in het tolhuis, en zeide tot hem: Volg Mij. En hij opstaande, volgde Hem. 15En het geschiedde, als Hij aanzat in deszelfs huis, dat ook vele tollenaren en zondaren aanzaten met Jezus en Zijn discipelen; want zij waren velen, en waren Hem gevolgd. 16En de Schriftgeleerden en de Farizeen, ziende Hem eten met de tollenaren en zondaren, zeiden tot Zijn discipelen: Wat is het, dat Hij met de tollenaren en zondaren eet en drinkt? 17En Jezus, dat horende, zeide tot hen: Die gezond zijn, hebben de medicijnmeester niet van node, maar die ziek zijn. Ik ben niet gekomen, om te roepen rechtvaardigen, maar zondaars tot bekering. 18En de discipelen van Johannes en der Farizeen vastten; en zij kwamen en zeiden tot Hem: Waarom vasten de discipelen van Johannes en der Farizeen, en Uw discipelen vasten niet? 19En Jezus zeide tot hen: Kunnen ook de bruiloftskinderen vasten, terwijl de Bruidegom bij hen is? Zo langen tijd zij den Bruidegom bij zich hebben, kunnen zij niet vasten. 20Maar de dagen zullen komen, wanneer de Bruidegom van hen zal weggenomen zijn, en alsdan zullen zij vasten in dezelven dagen. 21En niemand naait een lap ongevold laken op een oud kleed; anders scheurt deszelfs nieuwe aangenaaide lap iets af van het oude kleed, en er wordt een ergere scheur. 22En niemand doet nieuwen wijn in oude lederzakken; anders doet de nieuwe wijn de leder zakken bersten en de wijn wordt uitgestort, en de leder zakken verderven; maar nieuwen wijn moet men in nieuwe leder zakken doen. 23En het geschiedde, dat Hij op een sabbatdag door het gezaaide ging, en Zijn discipelen begonnen, al gaande, aren te plukken. 24En de Farizeen zeiden tot Hem: Zie, waarom doen zij op den sabbatdag, wat niet geoorloofd is? 25En Hij zeide tot hen: Hebt gij nooit gelezen, wat David gedaan heeft, als hij nood had, en hem hongerde, en dengenen, die met hem waren? 26Hoe hij ingegaan is in het huis Gods, ten tijde van Abjathar, den hogepriester, en de toonbroden gegeten heeft, die niemand zijn geoorloofd te eten, dan den priesteren, en ook gegeven heeft dengenen, die met hem waren? 27En Hij zeide tot hen: De sabbat is gemaakt om den mens, niet de mens om den sabbat. 28Zo is dan de Zoon des mensen een Heere ook van den sabbat.
