1Ούτοι δε είναι οι αρχηγοί των πατριών αυτών, και η γενεαλογία των συναναβάντων μετ' εμού από της Βαβυλώνος, επί της βασιλείας Αρταξέρξου του βασιλέως. 2Εκ των υιών Φινεές, Γηρσώμ· εκ των υιών Ιθάμαρ, Δανιήλ· εκ των υιών Δαβίδ, Χαττούς. 3Εκ των υιών Σεχανία, του εκ των υιών Φαρώς, Ζαχαρίας· και μετ' αυτού ηριθμήθησαν κατά γενεαλογίαν τα αρσενικά εκατόν πεντήκοντα. 4Εκ των υιών του Φαάθ-μωάβ, Ελιωηνάϊ ο υιός του Ζεραΐα, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά διακόσιοι. 5Εκ των υιών Σεχανία, ο υιός του Ιααζιήλ, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά τριακόσιοι. 6Και εκ των υιών Αδίν, Εβέδ ο υιός του Ιωνάθαν, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά πεντήκοντα. 7Και εκ των υιών Ελάμ, Ιεσαΐας ο υιός του Γοθολία, και μετ' αυτού εβδομήκοντα. 8Και εκ των υιών Σεφατία, Ζεβαδίας ο υιός του Μιχαήλ, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά ογδοήκοντα. 9Εκ των υιών Ιωάβ, Οβαδία ο υιός του Ιεχιήλ, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά διακόσιοι δεκαοκτώ. 10Και εκ των υιών του Σελωμείθ, ο υιός του Ιωσιφία, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά εκατόν εξήκοντα. 11Και εκ των υιών Βηβαΐ, Ζαχαρίας ο υιός του Βηβαΐ, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά εικοσιοκτώ. 12Και εκ των υιών Αζγάδ, Ιωανάν ο υιός του Ακκατάν, και μετ' αυτού τα αρσενικά εκατόν δέκα. 13Και εκ των υιών Αδωνικάμ οι τελευταίοι, και ταύτα τα ονόματα αυτών, Ελιφελέτ, Ιεϊήλ και Σεμαΐας, και μετ' αυτών τα αρσενικά εξήκοντα. 14Εκ δε των υιών Βιγουαί, Γουθαΐ και Ζαββούδ, και μετ' αυτών τα αρσενικά εβδομήκοντα. 15Και συνήθροισα αυτούς παρά τον ποταμόν, τον ρέοντα προς Ααβά, και εκεί κατεσκηνώσαμεν τρεις ημέρας· και παρετήρησα μεταξύ του λαού και των ιερέων και δεν εύρηκα εκεί ουδένα εκ των υιών του Λευΐ. 16Τότε απέστειλα προς τον Ελιέζερ, τον Αριήλ, τον Σεμαΐαν και τον Ελνάθαν και τον Ιαρείβ και τον Ελνάθαν και τον Νάθαν και τον Ζαχαρίαν και τον Μεσουλλάμ, τους άρχοντας· και τον Ιωϊαρίβ, και τον Ελνάθαν, συνετούς. 17Και έδωκα εις αυτούς παραγγελίαν προς τον Ιδδώ τον άρχοντα, εν τω τόπω Κασιφία, και έβαλον εις το στόμα αυτών λόγους διά να λαλήσωσι προς τον Ιδδώ και τους αδελφούς αυτού τους Νεθινείμ, εν τω τόπω Κασιφία, διά να πέμψωσι προς ημάς λειτουργούς διά τον οίκον του Θεού ημών. 18Και κατά την εφ' ημάς αγαθήν χείρα του Θεού ημών έφεραν προς ημάς άνδρα συνετόν, εκ των υιών Μααλί, υιού του Λευΐ, υιού Ισραήλ· και τον Σερεβίαν μετά των υιών αυτού και των αδελφών αυτού, δεκαοκτώ· 19και τον Ασαβίαν, και μετ' αυτού τον Ιεσαΐαν εκ των υιών Μεραρί, τους αδελφούς αυτού και τους υιούς αυτών, είκοσι· 20και εκ των Νεθινείμ, τους οποίους ο Δαβίδ και οι άρχοντες διώρισαν διά την υπηρεσίαν των Λευϊτών, διακοσίους είκοσι Νεθινείμ· πάντες ούτοι ήσαν σεσημειωμένοι κατ' όνομα. 21Τότε εκήρυξα εκεί νηστείαν παρά τον ποταμόν Ααβά, όπως ταπεινωθέντες ενώπιον του Θεού ημών, ζητήσωμεν παρ' αυτού ευθείαν οδόν διά ημάς και διά τα τέκνα ημών και διά πάντα τα υπάρχοντα ημών. 22Διότι ησχύνθην να ζητήσω παρά του βασιλέως δύναμιν και ιππείς διά να βοηθήσωσιν ημάς εναντίον του εχθρού καθ' οδόν· επειδή είχομεν ειπεί προς τον βασιλέα, λέγοντες, Η χειρ του Θεού ημών είναι προς αγαθόν επί πάντας τους ζητούντας αυτόν· το δε κράτος αυτού και η οργή αυτού επί πάντας τους εγκαταλείποντας αυτόν. 23Ενηστεύσαμεν λοιπόν και ικετεύσαμεν τον Θεόν ημών περί τούτου· και έγεινεν ίλεως προς ημάς. 24Τότε εχώρισα δώδεκα εκ των αρχόντων των ιερέων, τον Σερεβίαν, τον Ασαβίαν και μετ' αυτών δέκα εκ των αδελφών αυτών. 25Και εζύγισα εις αυτούς το αργύριον και το χρυσίον και τα σκεύη, την προσφοράν του οίκου του Θεού ημών, την οποίαν προσέφεραν ο βασιλεύς και οι σύμβουλοι αυτού και οι άρχοντες αυτού και πας ο παρευρεθείς Ισραήλ· 26εζύγισα λοιπόν και παρέδωκα εις την χείρα αυτών εξακόσια πεντήκοντα τάλαντα αργυρίου, και σκεύη αργυρά εκατόν ταλάντων, και εκατόν τάλαντα χρυσίου· 27και είκοσι φιάλας χρυσάς, χιλίων δραχμών, και δύο σκεύη εκ χαλκού στίλβοντος καλού, πολύτιμα ως χρυσίον. 28Και είπον προς αυτούς, Σεις είσθε άγιοι εις τον Κύριον, και τα σκεύη άγια· και το αργύριον και το χρυσίον αυτοπροαίρετος προσφορά εις Κύριον τον Θεόν των πατέρων σας. 29Προσέχετε και φυλάττετε αυτά, εωσού ζυγίσητε έμπροσθεν των αρχόντων των ιερέων και των Λευϊτών και των αρχόντων των πατριών του Ισραήλ, εν Ιερουσαλήμ, εντός των οικημάτων του οίκου του Κυρίου. 30Και παρέλαβον οι ιερείς και οι Λευΐται το βάρος του αργυρίου και του χρυσίου και τα σκεύη, διά να φέρωσιν αυτά εις Ιερουσαλήμ, προς τον οίκον του Θεού ημών. 31Και εσηκώθημεν από του ποταμού Ααβά την δωδεκάτην του πρώτου μηνός, διά να υπάγωμεν εις Ιερουσαλήμ· και η χειρ του Θεού ημών ήτο εφ' ημάς, και ηλευθέρωσεν ημάς εκ χειρός εχθρού και ενεδρεύοντος εν τη οδώ. 32Και ήλθομεν εις Ιερουσαλήμ· και εκαθήσαμεν εκεί τρεις ημέρας. 33Την τετάρτην δε ημέραν εζυγίσθη το αργύριον και το χρυσίον και τα σκεύη, εν τω οίκω του Θεού ημών, και παρεδόθη διά χειρός του Μερημώθ υιού του Ουρία του ιερέως· και μετ' αυτού ήτο Ελεάζαρ ο υιός του Φινεές· και μετ' αυτών Ιωζαβάδ, ο υιός του Ιησού, και Νωαδίας ο υιός του Βιννουΐ, οι Λευΐται· 34κατά αριθμόν και κατά βάρος τα πάντα· και άπαν το βάρος εγράφη εν τη ώρα εκείνη. 35Οι υιοί της μετοικεσίας, οι ελθόντες από της αιχμαλωσίας, προσέφεραν ολοκαυτώματα προς τον θεόν του Ισραήλ, δώδεκα μόσχους υπέρ παντός του Ισραήλ, ενενήκοντα εξ κριούς, εβδομήκοντα επτά αρνία, δώδεκα τράγους περί αμαρτίας, τα πάντα ολοκαύτωμα εις τον Κύριον. 36Και παρέδωκαν τα προστάγματα του βασιλέως εις τους σατράπας του βασιλέως και εις τους επάρχους τους πέραν του ποταμού· και ούτοι εβοήθησαν τον λαόν και τον οίκον του Θεού.

1Now these are the heads of their fathers’ households, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king: 2Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom. Of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel. Of the sons of David, Hattush. 3Of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah; and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males one hundred fifty. 4Of the sons of Pahathmoab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah; and with him two hundred males. 5Of the sons of Shecaniah, the son of Jahaziel; and with him three hundred males. 6Of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan; and with him fifty males. 7Of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah; and with him seventy males. 8Of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael; and with him eighty males. 9Of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel; and with him two hundred and eighteen males. 10Of the sons of Shelomith, the son of Josiphiah; and with him one hundred sixty males. 11Of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai; and with him twenty-eight males. 12Of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan; and with him one hundred ten males. 13Of the sons of Adonikam, who were the last; and these are their names: Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah; and with them sixty males. 14Of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud; and with them seventy males. 15I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and there we encamped three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi. 16Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, who were teachers. 17I sent them out to Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should tell Iddo, and his brothers the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God. 18According to the good hand of our God on us they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen; 19and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty; 20and of the Nethinim, whom David and the princes had given for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim: all of them were mentioned by name. 21Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. 22For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is on all those who seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those who forsake him.” 23So we fasted and begged our God for this: and he was entreated of us. 24Then I set apart twelve of the chiefs of the priests, even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers with them, 25and weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his princes, and all Israel there present, had offered: 26I weighed into their hand six hundred fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels one hundred talents; of gold one hundred talents; 27and twenty bowls of gold, of one thousand darics; and two vessels of fine bright brass, precious as gold. 28I said to them, “You are holy to Yahweh, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to Yahweh, the God of your fathers. 29Watch, and keep them, until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the princes of the fathers’ households of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the rooms of Yahweh’s house.” 30So the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God. 31Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and the bandit by the way. 32We came to Jerusalem, and stayed there three days. 33On the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, the Levite; 34the whole by number and by weight: and all the weight was written at that time. 35The children of the captivity, who had come out of exile, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel, twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering to Yahweh. 36They delivered the king’s commissions to the king’s satraps, and to the governors beyond the River: and they furthered the people and God’s house.

en met hen zeventig manspersonen. 15En ik vergaderde hen aan de rivier, gaande naar Ahava, en wij legerden ons aldaar drie dagen; toen lette ik op het volk en de priesteren, en vond aldaar geen van de kinderen van Levi. 16Zo zond ik tot Eliezer, tot Ariel, tot Semaja, en tot Elnathan, en tot Jarib, en tot Elnathan, en tot Nathan, en tot Zacharja, en tot Mesullam, de hoofden; en tot Jojarib en tot Elnathan, de leraars; 17En ik gaf hun bevel aan Iddo, het hoofd in de plaats Chasifja; en ik legde de woorden in hun mond, om te zeggen tot Iddo, zijn broeder, en de Nethinim, in de plaats Chasifja, dat zij ons brachten dienaars voor het huis onzes Gods. 18En zij brachten ons, naar de goede hand onzes Gods over ons, een man van verstand, van de kinderen van Mahli, den zoon van Levi, den zoon van Israel; namelijk Serebja, met zijn zonen en broederen, achttien; 19En Hasabja, en met hem Jesaja, van de kinderen van Merari, met zijn broederen, en hun zonen, twintig; 20En van Nethinim, die David en de vorsten ten dienste der Levieten gegeven hadden, tweehonderd en twintig Nethinim, die allen bij namen genoemd werden. 21Toen riep ik aldaar een vasten uit aan de rivier Ahava, opdat wij ons verootmoedigden voor het aangezicht onzes Gods, om van Hem te verzoeken een rechten weg, voor ons, en voor onze kinderkens, en voor al onze have. 22Want ik schaamde mij van den koning een heir en ruiters te begeren, om ons te helpen van den vijand, op den weg; omdat wij tot den koning hadden gesproken, zeggende: De hand onzes Gods is ten goede over allen, die Hem zoeken, maar Zijn sterkte en Zijn toorn over allen, die Hem verlaten. 23Alzo vastten wij; en verzochten zulks van onzen God; en Hij liet zich van ons verbidden. 24Toen scheidde ik twaalf uit van de oversten der priesteren: Serebja Hasabja, en tien van hun broederen met hen. 25En ik woog hun toe het zilver, en het goud, en de vaten, zijnde de offering van het huis onzes Gods die de koning en zijn raadsheren, en zijn vorsten, en gans Israel, die er gevonden werden, geofferd hadden; 26Ik woog dan aan hun hand zeshonderd en vijftig talenten zilvers, en honderd zilveren vaten in talenten; aan goud, honderd talenten; 27En twintig gouden bekers, tot duizend drachmen; en twee vaten van blinkend goed koper, begeerlijk als goud. 28En ik zeide tot hen: Gij zijt heilig den HEERE, en deze vaten zijn heilig; ook dit zilver en dit goud, de vrijwillige gave, den HEERE, den God uwer vaderen. 29Waakt en bewaart het, totdat gij het opweegt, in tegenwoordigheid van de oversten der priesteren en Levieten, en der vorsten der vaderen van Israel, te Jeruzalem, in de kameren van des HEEREN huis. 30Toen ontvingen de priesters en de Levieten het gewicht des zilvers en des gouds, en der vaten, om te brengen te Jeruzalem, ten huize onzes Gods. 31Alzo verreisden wij van de rivier Ahava, op den twaalfden der eerste maand, om te gaan naar Jeruzalem; en de hand onzes Gods was over ons, en redde ons van de hand des vijands, en desgenen, die ons lagen legde op den weg. 32En wij kwamen te Jeruzalem; en wij bleven aldaar drie dagen. 33Op den vierden dag nu werd gewogen het zilver, en het goud, en de vaten, in het huis onzes Gods, aan de hand van Meremoth, den zoon van Uria, den priester, en met hem Eleazar, de zoon van Pinehas; en met hem Jozabad, de zoon van Jesua, en Noadja, de zoon van Binnui, de Levieten. 34Naar het getal en naar het gewicht van dat alles; en het ganse gewicht werd ter zelfder tijd opgeschreven. 35En de weggevoerden, die uit de gevangenis gekomen waren, offerden den God Israels brandofferen; twaalf varren voor gans Israel, zes en negentig rammen, zeven en zeventig lammeren, twaalf bokken ten zondoffer; alles ten brandoffer den HEERE. 36Daarna gaven zij de wetten des konings aan des konings stadhouders en landvoogden aan deze zijde der rivier; en zij bevorderden het volk en het huis Gods.
