1Povstal pak po Abimelechovi k obhajování Izraele Tola, syn Fua, syna Dodova, muž z pokolení Izachar, a ten bydlil v Samir na hoře Efraim. 2I soudil Izraele za třimecítma let, a umřev, pochován jest v Samir. 3Po něm povstal Jair Galádský, a soudil Izraele za dvamecítma let. 4A měl třidceti synů, kteříž jezdili na třidcíti mezcích; a měli třidceti měst, kteráž sloula vsi Jairovy až do dnešního dne, a ty jsou v zemi Galád. 5I umřel Jair, a pochován jest v Kamon. 6Opět pak synové Izraelští činili to, což jest zlého před očima Hospodinovýma; nebo sloužili Bálům a Astarot, to jest, bohům Syrským, bohům Sidonským a bohům Moábským, tolikéž i bohům synů Ammon, i bohům Filistinským, tak že opustili Hospodina, a nesloužili jemu. 7Protož roznítila se prchlivost Hospodinova na Izraele, a vydal je v ruku Filistinských a v ruku Ammonitských, 8Kteříž stírali a potlačovali syny Izraelské toho roku, i potom za osmnácte let, všecky syny Izraelské, kteříž byli před Jordánem v zemi Amorejského, kteráž jest v Galád. 9Přešli pak Ammonitští i Jordán, aby bojovali také proti Judovi, a proti Beniaminovi, i proti domu Efraimovu; i byl Izrael náramně ssoužen. 10Tedy volali synové Izraelští k Hospodinu, řkouce: Zhřešiliť jsme tobě, tak že jsme opustili tě Boha svého, a sloužili jsme Bálům. 11Ale Hospodin řekl synům Izraelským: Zdaliž jsem od Egyptských a od Amorejských a od Ammonitských a Filistinských, 12Tolikéž od Sidonských, a Amalechitských, i od Maonitských, vás ssužujících, když jste volali ke mně, nevysvobodil vás z ruky jejich? 13A vy opustili jste mne a sloužili jste bohům cizím, protož nevysvobodím vás více. 14Jděte a volejte k bohům, kteréž jste sobě zvolili; oni nechť vás vysvobodí v čas ssoužení vašeho. 15I řekli synové Izraelští Hospodinu: Zhřešili jsme; učiň s námi, cožť se dobře líbí, a však vysvoboď nás, prosíme, v tento čas. 16Protož vyvrhše bohy cizí z prostředku svého, sloužili Hospodinu, a zželelo se duši jeho nad trápením Izraele. 17Svolali se pak Ammonitští, a položili se v Galád; shromáždili se také synové Izraelští, a položili se v Masfa. 18I řekli lid s knížaty Galád jedni druhým: Kdokoli počne bojovati proti Ammonitským, bude vůdce všech obyvatelů Galád.
1After Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he lived in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim. 2He judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir. 3After him arose Jair, the Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty-two years. 4He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkey colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead. 5Jair died, and was buried in Kamon. 6The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and served the Baals, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they abandoned Yahweh, and didn’t serve him. 7Yahweh’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon. 8They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year. For eighteen years, they oppressed all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead. 9The children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was very distressed. 10The children of Israel cried to Yahweh, saying, “We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals.” 11Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “Didn’t I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines? 12The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand. 13Yet you have forsaken me, and served other gods: therefore I will save you no more. 14Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress!” 15The children of Israel said to Yahweh, “We have sinned: do you to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, please, this day.” 16They put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Yahweh; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel. 17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. The children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah. 18The people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, “What man is he who will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
1Na Abimelech nu stond op, om Israel te behouden, Thola, een zoon van Pua, zoon van Dodo, een man van Issaschar; en hij woonde te Samir, op het gebergte van Efraim. 2En hij richtte Israel drie en twintig jaren; en hij stierf, en werd begraven te Samir. 3En na hem stond op Jair, de Gileadiet; en hij richtte Israel twee en twintig jaren. 4En hij had dertig zonen, rijdende op dertig ezelveulens, en die hadden dertig steden, die zij noemden Havvoth-Jair, tot op dezen dag, dewelke in het land van Gilead zijn. 5En Jair stierf, en werd begraven te Kamon. 6Toen voeren de kinderen Israels voort te doen, dat kwaad was in de ogen des HEEREN, en dienden de Baals, en Astharoth, en de goden van Syrie, en de goden van Sidon, en de goden van Moab, en de goden der kinderen Ammons, mitsgaders de goden der Filistijnen; en zij verlieten den HEERE, en dienden Hem niet. 7Zo ontstak de toorn des HEEREN tegen Israel; en Hij verkocht hen in de hand der Filistijnen, en in de hand der kinderen Ammons. 8En zij onderdrukten en vertraden de kinderen Israels in datzelve jaar; achttien jaren, onderdrukten zij al de kinderen Israels, die aan gene zijde van de Jordaan waren, in het land der Amorieten, dat in Gilead is. 9Daartoe togen de kinderen Ammons over de Jordaan, om te krijgen, zelfs tegen Juda, en tegen Benjamin, en tegen het huis van Efraim; zodat het Israel zeer bang werd. 10Toen riepen de kinderen Israels tot den HEERE, zeggende: Wij hebben tegen U gezondigd, zo omdat wij onzen God hebben verlaten, als dat wij de Baals gediend hebben. 11Maar de HEERE zeide tot de kinderen Israels: Heb Ik u niet van de Egyptenaren, en van de Amorieten, en van de kinderen Ammons, en van de Filistijnen, 12En de Sidoniers, en Amalekieten, en Maonieten, die u onderdrukten, toen gij tot Mij riept, alsdan uit hun hand verlost? 13Nochtans hebt gij Mij verlaten, en andere goden gediend; daarom zal Ik u niet meer verlossen. 14Gaat henen, roept tot de goden, die gij verkoren hebt; laten die u verlossen, ter tijd uwer benauwdheid. 15Maar de kinderen Israels zeiden tot den HEERE: Wij hebben gezondigd; doe Gij ons, naar alles, wat goed is in Uw ogen; alleenlijk verlos ons toch te dezen dage! 16En zij deden de vreemde goden uit hun midden weg, en dienden den HEERE. Toen werd Zijn ziel verdrietig over den arbeid van Israel. 17En de kinderen Ammons werden bijeengeroepen, en legerden zich in Gilead; daarentegen werden de kinderen Israels vergaderd, en legerden zich te Mizpa. 18Toen zeide het volk, de oversten van Gilead, de een tot den ander: Wie is de man, die beginnen zal te strijden tegen de kinderen Ammons? die zal tot een hoofd zijn over alle inwoners van Gilead.
