1Павел и Силуан и Тимофей — Фессалоникской церкви в Боге Отце нашем и Господе Иисусе Христе: 2благодать вам и мир от Бога Отца нашего и Господа Иисуса Христа. 3Всегда по справедливости мы должны благодарить Бога за вас, братия, потому что возрастает вера ваша, и умножается любовь каждого друг ко другу между всеми вами, 4так что мы сами хвалимся вами в церквах Божиих, терпением вашим и верою во всех гонениях и скорбях, переносимых вами 5в доказательство того, что будет праведный суд Божий, чтобы вам удостоиться Царствия Божия, для которого и страдаете. 6Ибо праведно пред Богом — оскорбляющим вас воздать скорбью, 7а вам, оскорбляемым, отрадою вместе с нами, в явление Господа Иисуса с неба, с Ангелами силы Его, 8в пламенеющем огне совершающего отмщение не познавшим Бога и не покоряющимся благовествованию Господа нашего Иисуса Христа, 9которые подвергнутся наказанию, вечной погибели, от лица Господа и от славы могущества Его, 10когда Он приидет прославиться во святых Своих и явиться дивным в день оный во всех веровавших, так как вы поверили нашему свидетельству. 11Для сего и молимся всегда за вас, чтобы Бог наш соделал вас достойными звания и совершил всякое благоволение благости и дело веры в силе, 12да прославится имя Господа нашего Иисуса Христа в вас, и вы в Нем, по благодати Бога нашего и Господа Иисуса Христа.

1Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the assembly of the Thessalonians in God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you towards one another abounds; 4so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure. 5This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also suffer. 6Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you, 7and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, 8giving vengeance to those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus, 9who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10when he comes to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired among all those who have believed (because our testimony to you was believed) in that day. 11To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith, with power; 12that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1Paulus, en Silvanus, en Timotheus, aan de Gemeente der Thessalonicensen, welke is in God, onzen Vader, en den Heere Jezus Christus: 2Genade zij u, en vrede, van God, onzen Vader, en den Heere Jezus Christus. 3Wij moeten God te allen tijd danken over u, broeders, gelijk billijk is, omdat uw geloof zeer wast, en dat de liefde eens iegelijken van u allen jegens elkander overvloedig wordt; 4Alzo dat wij zelven van u roemen in de Gemeenten Gods, over uw lijdzaamheid en geloof in al uw vervolgingen en verdrukkingen, die gij verdraagt; 5Een bewijs van Gods rechtvaardig oordeel, opdat gij waardig geacht wordt het Koninkrijk Gods, voor hetwelk gij ook lijdt; 6Alzo het recht is bij God verdrukking te vergelden dengenen, die u verdrukken; 7En u, die verdrukt wordt, verkwikking met ons, in de openbaring van den Heere Jezus van den hemel met de engelen Zijner kracht; 8Met vlammend vuur wraak doende over degenen, die God niet kennen, en over degenen, die het Evangelie van onzen Heere Jezus Christus niet gehoorzaam zijn. 9Dewelken zullen tot straf lijden het eeuwig verderf, van het aangezicht des Heeren, en van de heerlijkheid Zijner sterkte, 10Wanneer Hij zal gekomen zijn, om verheerlijkt te worden in Zijn heiligen, en wonderbaar te worden in allen, die geloven (overmits onze getuigenis onder u is geloofd geworden) in dien dag. 11Waarom wij ook altijd bidden voor u, dat onze God u waardig achte der roeping, en vervulle al het welbehagen Zijner goedigheid, en het werk des geloofs met kracht. 12Opdat de Naam van onzen Heere Jezus Christus verheerlijkt worde in u, en gij in Hem, naar de genade van onzen God en den Heere Jezus Christus.
