Ибо завет вечный положил Он со мною, твердый и непреложный. Не так ли исходит от Него все спасение мое и все хотение мое? 6А нечестивые будут, как выброшенное терние, которого не берут рукою; 7но кто касается его, вооружается железом или деревом копья, и огнем сожигают его на месте. 8Вот имена храбрых у Давида: Исбосеф Ахаманитянин, главный из трех; он поднял копье свое на восемьсот человек и поразил их в один раз. 9По нем Елеазар, сын Додо, сына Ахохи, из трех храбрых, бывших с Давидом, когда они порицанием вызывали Филистимлян, собравшихся на войну; 10израильтяне вышли против них, и он стал и поражал Филистимлян до того, что рука его утомилась и прилипла к мечу. И даровал Господь в тот день великую победу, и народ последовал за ним для того только, чтоб обирать убитых. 11За ним Шамма, сын Аге, Гараритянин. Когда Филистимляне собрались в Фирию, где было поле, засеянное чечевицею, и народ побежал от Филистимлян, 12то он стал среди поля и сберег его и поразил Филистимлян. И даровал тогда Господь великую победу. 13Трое сих главных из тридцати вождей пошли и вошли во время жатвы к Давиду в пещеру Одоллам, когда толпы Филистимлян стояли в долине Рефаимов. 14Давид был тогда в укрепленном месте, а отряд Филистимлян — в Вифлееме. 15И захотел Давид пить, и сказал: кто напоит меня водою из колодезя Вифлеемского, что у ворот? 16Тогда трое этих храбрых пробились сквозь стан Филистимский и почерпнули воды из колодезя Вифлеемского, что у ворот, и взяли и принесли Давиду. Но он не захотел пить ее и вылил ее во славу Господа, 17и сказал: сохрани меня Господь, чтоб я сделал это! не кровь ли это людей, ходивших с опасностью собственной жизни? И не захотел пить ее. Вот что сделали эти трое храбрых! 18И Авесса, брат Иоава, сын Саруин, был главным из трех; он убил копьем своим триста человек и был в славе у тех троих. 19Из трех он был знатнейшим и был начальником, но с теми тремя не равнялся. 20Ванея, сын Иодая, мужа храброго, великий по делам, из Кавцеила; он поразил двух сыновей Ариила Моавитского; он же сошел и убил льва во рве в снежное время; 21он же убил одного Египтянина человека видного; в руке Египтянина было копье, а он пошел к нему с палкою и отнял копье из руки Египтянина, и убил его собственным его копьем: 22вот что сделал Ванея, сын Иодаев, и он был в славе у трех храбрых; 23он был знатнее тридцати, но с теми тремя не равнялся. 1Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man who was raised on high says, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel: 2“The Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me. His word was on my tongue. 3The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, ‘One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God, 4shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.’ 5Most certainly my house is not so with God, yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn’t make it grow. 6But all of the ungodly shall be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can’t be taken with the hand, 7But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.” 8These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb Basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite, against eight hundred slain at one time. 9After him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines who were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away. 10He arose, and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and Yahweh worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take plunder. 11After him was Shammah the son of Agee a Hararite. The Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines. 12But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh worked a great victory. 13Three of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim. 14David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 15David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” 16The three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh. 17He said, “Be it far from me, Yahweh, that I should do this! Isn’t it the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things. 18Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. He lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three. 19Wasn’t he most honorable of the three? therefore he was made their captain: however he didn’t attain to the three. 20Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow. 21He killed an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear. 22Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men. 23He was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three. David set him over his guard. 24Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, 25Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite, 26Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, 27Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite, 28Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite, 29Heleb the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, 30Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash. 31Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite, 32Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan, 33Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite, 34Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite, 35Hezro the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite, 36Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite, 37Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearers to Joab the son of Zeruiah, 38Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite, 39Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
1Voorts zijn dit de laatste woorden van David. David, de zoon van Isai zegt, en de man, die hoog is opgericht, de gezalfde van Jakobs God, en liefelijk in psalmen van Israel, zegt: 2De Geest des HEEREN heeft door mij gesproken, en Zijn rede is op mijn tong geweest. 3De God Israels heeft gezegd, de Rotssteen Israels heeft tot mij gesproken: Er zal zijn een Heerser over de mensen, een Rechtvaardige, een Heerser in de vreze Gods. 4En Hij zal zijn gelijk het licht des morgens, wanneer de zon opgaat, des morgens zonder wolken, wanneer van den glans na den regen de grasscheutjes uit de aarde voortkomen. 5Hoewel mijn huis alzo niet is bij God, nochtans heeft Hij mij een eeuwig verbond gesteld, dat in alles wel geordineerd en bewaard is; voorzeker is daarin al mijn heil, en alle lust, hoewel Hij het nog niet doet uitspruiten. 6Maar de mannen Belials zullen altemaal zijn als doornen, die weggeworpen worden, omdat men ze met de hand niet kan vatten; 7Maar een iegelijk, die ze zal aantasten, voorziet zich met ijzer en het hout ener spies; en zij zullen ganselijk met vuur verbrand worden ter zelver plaats. 8Dit zijn de namen der helden, die David gehad heeft: Joscheb Baschebeth, de zoon van Tachkemoni, de voornaamste der hoofdlieden. Deze was Adino, de Ezniet, die zich stelde tegen achthonderd, die van hem verslagen werden op eenmaal. 9En na hem was Eleazar, de zoon van Dodo, zoon van Ahohi, deze was onder de drie helden met David, toen zij de Filistijnen beschimpten, die aldaar ten strijde verzameld waren, en de mannen van Israel waren opgetogen. 10Deze stond op, en sloeg onder de Filistijnen, totdat zijn hand moede werd, ja, zijn hand aan het zwaard kleefde; en de HEERE wrocht een groot heil ten zelven dage; en het volk keerde wederom hem na, alleenlijk om te plunderen. 11Na hem nu was Samma, de zoon van Age, de Harariet. Toen de Filistijnen verzameld waren in een dorp, en aldaar een stuk akkers was vol linzen, en het volk voor het aangezicht der Filistijnen vluchtte; 12Zo stelde hij zich in het midden van dat stuk, en verloste dat, en sloeg de Filistijnen; en de HEERE wrocht een groot heil. 13Ook gingen af drie van de dertig hoofden, en kwamen in den oogst tot David, in de spelonk van Adullam; en de hoop der Filistijnen had zich gelegerd in het dal Rafaim. 14En David was toen in een vesting; en de bezetting der Filistijnen was toen te Bethlehem. 15En David kreeg lust, en zeide: Wie zal mij water te drinken geven uit Bethlehems bornput, die in de poort is? 16Toen braken die drie helden door het leger der Filistijnen, en putten water uit Bethlehems bornput, die in de poort is, en droegen het, en kwamen tot David; doch hij wilde dat niet drinken, maar goot het uit voor den HEERE. 17En zeide: Het zij verre van mij, o HEERE, dat ik dit zou doen; zou ik drinken het bloed der mannen, die heengegaan zijn met gevaar van hun leven? En hij wilde het niet drinken. Dit deden die drie helden. 18Abisai, Joabs broeder, de zoon van Zeruja, die was ook een hoofd van drieen; en die hief zijn spies op tegen driehonderd, die van hem verslagen werden; en hij had een naam onder die drie. 19Was hij niet de heerlijkste van die drie? Daarom was hij hun tot een overste.
