1Então Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou mensageiros a Davi, e também madeira de cedro, pedreiros e carpinteiros, para lhe edificarem uma casa. 2E Davi entendeu que o SENHOR o tinha confirmado por rei sobre Israel, pois seu reino tinha sido exaltado, por causa de seu povo Israel. 3E Davi teve mais esposas em Jerusalém, e Davi ainda gerou filhos e filhas. 4E estes são os nomes dos filhos que teve em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão, 5Ibar, Elisua, Elpelete, 6Nogá, Nefegue, Jafia, 7Elisama, Beeliada e Elifelete. 8Quando, pois, os filisteus ouviram que Davi havia sido ungido rei sobre todo Israel, todos os filisteus subiram em busca de Davi. E quando Davi ouviu falar disso, logo saiu contra eles. 9E os filisteus vieram e ocuparam o vale de Refaim. 10Então Davi consultou a Deus, dizendo: Subirei contra os filisteus? E tu os entregarás em minhas mãos?E o SENHOR lhe disse: Sobe, porque eu os entregarei em teus mãos. 11Davi subiu, pois, Baal-Perazim, e ali os derrotou. Então Davi disse: Por minha mão Deus rompeu meus inimigos, como se rompem as águas.Por isso chamaram o nome daquele lugar Baal-Perazim. 12E ali deixaram seus deuses, e Davi mandou que fossem queimados a fogo. 13Porém os filisteus voltaram a ocupar o vale. 14Então Davi voltou a consultar a Deus, e Deus lhe disse: Não subas por trás deles; em vez disso rodeia-os, e vem contra eles em frente das amoreiras; 15E será que ouvires, quando tu ouvires o ruído do marchar das tropas pelas copas das amoreiras, então sai à batalha; porque Deus sairá adiante de ti para derrotar o acampamento dos filisteus. 16E Davi fez como Deus lhe mandara, e feriram o acampamento dos filisteus desde Gibeão até Gezer. 17E a fama de Davi se espalhou por todas aquelas terras; e o SENHOR fez todas aquelas nações temerem a Davi.
1Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house. 2David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake. 3David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David became the father of more sons and daughters. 4These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, 5and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet, 6and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 7and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet. 8When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them. 9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. 10David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.” 11So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim. 12They left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire. 13The Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley. 14David inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them over against the mulberry trees. 15It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.” 16David did as God commanded him: and they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer. 17The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.

Toen David dat hoorde zo toog hij uit tegen hen. 9Toen de Filistijnen kwamen, zo spreidden zij zich uit in de laagte van Refaim. 10Toen vraagde David God, zeggende: Zal ik optrekken tegen de Filistijnen, en zult Gij hen in mijn hand geven? En de HEERE zeide tot hem: Trek op, want Ik zal hen in uw hand geven. 11Toen zij nu optogen naar Baal-Perazim, zo sloeg hen David daar; en David zeide: God heeft mijn vijanden door mijn hand gescheurd, als een scheur der wateren; daarom noemden zij den naam derzelver plaats Baal-Perazim. 12En daar lieten zij hun goden; en David gebood, en zij werden met vuur verbrand. 13Doch de Filistijnen voeren nog voort, en zij verspreidden zich in dat dal. 14En David vraagde God nog eens; en God zeide tot hem: Gij zult niet optrekken achter hen heen; maar omsingel hen van boven, en kom tot hen tegenover de moerbezienbomen. 15En het zal geschieden, als gij hoort het geruis van een gang in de toppen der moerbezienbomen, kom dan uit ten strijde; want God zal voor uw aangezicht uitgegaan zijn, om het leger der Filistijnen te slaan. 16David nu deed, gelijk als hem God geboden had; en zij sloegen het heir der Filistijnen van Gibeon af tot aan Gezer. 17Alzo ging Davids naam uit in al die landen; en de HEERE gaf Zijn verschrikking over al die heidenen.
