1아닥사스다 왕이 위에 있을 때에 나와 함께 바벨론에서 올라온 족장들과 그들의 보계가 이러하니라 2비느하스 자손 중에서는 게르솜이요 이다말 자손 중에서는 다니엘이요 다윗 자손 중에서는 핫두스요 3스가냐 자손 곧 바로스 자손 중에서는 스가랴니 그와 함께 족보에 기록된 남자가 일백오십 명이요 4바핫모압 자손 중에서는 스라히야의 아들 엘여호에내니 그와 함께한 남자가 이백 명이요 5스가냐 자손 중에서는 야하시엘의 아들이니 그와 함께한 남자가 삼백 명이요 6아딘 자손 중에서는 요나단의 아들 에벳이니 그와 함께한 남자가 오십 명이요 7엘람 자손 중에서는 아달리야의 아들 여사야니 그와 함께한 남자가 칠십 명이요 8스바댜 자손 중에서는 미가엘의 아들 스바댜니 그와 함께한 남자가 팔십 명이요 9요압 자손 중에서는 여히엘의 아들 오바댜니 그와 함께한 남자가 이백십팔 명이요 10슬로밋 자손 중에서는 요시뱌의 아들이니 그와 함께한 남자가 일백육십 명이요 11베배 자손 중에서는 베배의 아들 스가랴니 그와 함께한 남자가 이십팔 명이요 12아스갓 자손 중에서는 학가단의 아들 요하난이니 그와 함께한 남자가 일백십 명이요 13아도니감 자손 중에 나중된 자의 이름은 엘리벨렛과 여우엘과 스마야니 그와 함께한 남자가 육십 명이요 14비그왜 자손 중에서는 우대와 사붓이니 그와 함께한 남자가 칠십 명이었느니라 15내가 무리를 아하와로 흐르는 강가에 모으고 거기서 삼 일 동안 장막에 유하며 백성과 제사장들을 살핀즉 그 중에 레위 자손이 하나도 없는지라 16이에 모든 족장 곧 엘리에셀과 아리엘과 스마야와 엘라단과 야립과 엘라단과 나단과 스가랴와 므술람을 부르고 또 명철한 사람 요야립과 엘라단을 불러 17가시뱌 지방으로 보내어 그곳 족장 잇도에게 나아가게 하고 잇도와 그 형제 곧 가시뱌 지방에 거한 느디님 사람들에게 할 말을 일러주고 우리 하나님의 전을 위하여 수종들 자를 데리고 오라 하였더니 18우리 하나님의 선한 손의 도우심을 입고 저희가 이스라엘의 손자 레위의 아들 말리의 자손 중에서 한 명철한 사람을 데려오고 또 세레뱌와 그 아들들과 형제 십팔 명과 19하사뱌와 므라리 자손 중 여사야와 그 형제와 저의 아들들 이십 명을 데려오고 20또 느디님 사람 곧 다윗과 방백들이 주어 레위 사람에게 수종들게 한 그 느디님 사람 중 이백이십 명을 데려왔으니 그 이름이 다 기록되었느니라 21때에 내가 아하와 강 가에서 금식을 선포하고 우리 하나님 앞에서 스스로 겸비하여 우리와 우리 어린 것과 모든 소유를 위하여 평탄한 길을 그에게 간구하였으니 22이는 우리가 전에 왕에게 고하기를 우리 하나님의 손은 자기를 찾는 모든 자에게 선을 베푸시고 자기를 배반하는 모든 자에게는 권능과 진노를 베푸신다 하였으므로 길에서 적군을 막고 우리를 도울 보병과 마병을 왕에게 구하기를 부끄러워 하였음이라 23그러므로 우리가 이를 위하여 금식하며 우리 하나님께 간구하였더니 그 응낙하심을 입었느니라 24그 때에 내가 제사장의 두목 중 십이 인 곧 세레뱌와 하사뱌와 그 형제 십 인을 따로 세우고 25저희에게 왕과 모사들과 방백들과 또 그곳에 있는 이스라엘 무리가 우리 하나님의 전을 위하여 드린 은과 금과 기명들을 달아서 주었으니 26내가 달아서 저희 손에 준 것은 은이 육백오십 달란트요 은 기명이 일백 달란트요 금이 일백 달란트며 27또 금잔이 이십 개라 중수는 일천 다릭이요 또 아름답고 빛나 금 같이 보배로운 놋그릇이 두 개라 28내가 저희에게 이르되 너희는 여호와께 거룩한 자요 이 기명들도 거룩하고 그 은과 금은 너희 열조의 하나님 여호와께 즐거이 드린 예물이니 29너희는 예루살렘 여호와의 전 골방에 이르러 제사장의 두목들과 레위 사람의 두목들과 이스라엘 족장 앞에서 이 기명을 달기까지 삼가 지키라 30이에 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 은과 금과 기명을 예루살렘 우리 하나님의 전으로 가져가려 하여 그 중수대로 받으니라 31정월 십이일에 우리가 아하와 강을 떠나 예루살렘으로 갈새 우리 하나님의 손이 우리를 도우사 대적과 길에 매복한 자의 손에서 건지신지라 32이에 예루살렘에 이르러 거기서 삼 일을 유하고 33제사일에 우리 하나님의 전에서 은과 금과 기명을 달아서 제사장 우리아의 아들 므레못의 손에 붙이니 비느하스의 아들 엘르아살과 레위 사람 예수아의 아들 요사밧과 빈누이의 아들 노아댜가 함께 있어 34모든 것을 다 계수하고 달아보고 그 중수를 당장에 책에 기록하였느니라 35사로잡혔던 자의 자손 곧 이방에서 돌아온 자들이 이스라엘 하나님께 번제를 드렸는데 이스라엘 전체를 위한 수송아지가 열둘이요 또 수양이 아흔여섯이요 어린 양이 일흔일곱이요 또 속죄제의 수염소가 열둘이니 모두 여호와께 드린 번제물이라 36무리가 또 왕의 조서를 왕의 관원과 강 서편 총독들에게 부치매 저희가 백성과 하나님의 전을 도왔느니라

1Now these are the heads of their fathers’ households, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king: 2Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom. Of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel. Of the sons of David, Hattush. 3Of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah; and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males one hundred fifty. 4Of the sons of Pahathmoab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah; and with him two hundred males. 5Of the sons of Shecaniah, the son of Jahaziel; and with him three hundred males. 6Of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan; and with him fifty males. 7Of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah; and with him seventy males. 8Of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael; and with him eighty males. 9Of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel; and with him two hundred and eighteen males. 10Of the sons of Shelomith, the son of Josiphiah; and with him one hundred sixty males. 11Of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai; and with him twenty-eight males. 12Of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan; and with him one hundred ten males. 13Of the sons of Adonikam, who were the last; and these are their names: Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah; and with them sixty males. 14Of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud; and with them seventy males. 15I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and there we encamped three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi. 16Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, who were teachers. 17I sent them out to Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should tell Iddo, and his brothers the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God. 18According to the good hand of our God on us they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen; 19and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty; 20and of the Nethinim, whom David and the princes had given for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim: all of them were mentioned by name. 21Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. 22For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is on all those who seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those who forsake him.” 23So we fasted and begged our God for this: and he was entreated of us. 24Then I set apart twelve of the chiefs of the priests, even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers with them, 25and weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his princes, and all Israel there present, had offered: 26I weighed into their hand six hundred fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels one hundred talents; of gold one hundred talents; 27and twenty bowls of gold, of one thousand darics; and two vessels of fine bright brass, precious as gold. 28I said to them, “You are holy to Yahweh, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to Yahweh, the God of your fathers. 29Watch, and keep them, until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the princes of the fathers’ households of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the rooms of Yahweh’s house.” 30So the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God. 31Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and the bandit by the way. 32We came to Jerusalem, and stayed there three days. 33On the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, the Levite; 34the whole by number and by weight: and all the weight was written at that time. 35The children of the captivity, who had come out of exile, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel, twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering to Yahweh. 36They delivered the king’s commissions to the king’s satraps, and to the governors beyond the River: and they furthered the people and God’s house.

en met hem honderd en zestig manspersonen. 11En van de kinderen van Babai, Zacharja, de zoon van Bebai; en met hem acht en twintig manspersonen. 12En van de kinderen van Azgad, Johanan, de zoon van Katan; en met hem honderd en tien manspersonen. 13En van de laatste kinderen van Adonikam, welker namen deze waren: Elifelet, Jehiel, en Semaja; en met hen zestig manspersonen. 14En van de kinderen van Bigvai, Uthai en Zabbud; en met hen zeventig manspersonen. 15En ik vergaderde hen aan de rivier, gaande naar Ahava, en wij legerden ons aldaar drie dagen; toen lette ik op het volk en de priesteren, en vond aldaar geen van de kinderen van Levi. 16Zo zond ik tot Eliezer, tot Ariel, tot Semaja, en tot Elnathan, en tot Jarib, en tot Elnathan, en tot Nathan, en tot Zacharja, en tot Mesullam, de hoofden; en tot Jojarib en tot Elnathan, de leraars; 17En ik gaf hun bevel aan Iddo, het hoofd in de plaats Chasifja; en ik legde de woorden in hun mond, om te zeggen tot Iddo, zijn broeder, en de Nethinim, in de plaats Chasifja, dat zij ons brachten dienaars voor het huis onzes Gods. 18En zij brachten ons, naar de goede hand onzes Gods over ons, een man van verstand, van de kinderen van Mahli, den zoon van Levi, den zoon van Israel; namelijk Serebja, met zijn zonen en broederen, achttien; 19En Hasabja, en met hem Jesaja, van de kinderen van Merari, met zijn broederen, en hun zonen, twintig; 20En van Nethinim, die David en de vorsten ten dienste der Levieten gegeven hadden, tweehonderd en twintig Nethinim, die allen bij namen genoemd werden. 21Toen riep ik aldaar een vasten uit aan de rivier Ahava, opdat wij ons verootmoedigden voor het aangezicht onzes Gods, om van Hem te verzoeken een rechten weg, voor ons, en voor onze kinderkens, en voor al onze have. 22Want ik schaamde mij van den koning een heir en ruiters te begeren, om ons te helpen van den vijand, op den weg; omdat wij tot den koning hadden gesproken, zeggende: De hand onzes Gods is ten goede over allen, die Hem zoeken, maar Zijn sterkte en Zijn toorn over allen, die Hem verlaten. 23Alzo vastten wij; en verzochten zulks van onzen God; en Hij liet zich van ons verbidden. 24Toen scheidde ik twaalf uit van de oversten der priesteren: Serebja Hasabja, en tien van hun broederen met hen. 25En ik woog hun toe het zilver, en het goud, en de vaten, zijnde de offering van het huis onzes Gods die de koning en zijn raadsheren, en zijn vorsten, en gans Israel, die er gevonden werden, geofferd hadden; 26Ik woog dan aan hun hand zeshonderd en vijftig talenten zilvers, en honderd zilveren vaten in talenten; aan goud, honderd talenten; 27En twintig gouden bekers, tot duizend drachmen; en twee vaten van blinkend goed koper, begeerlijk als goud. 28En ik zeide tot hen: Gij zijt heilig den HEERE, en deze vaten zijn heilig; ook dit zilver en dit goud, de vrijwillige gave, den HEERE, den God uwer vaderen. 29Waakt en bewaart het, totdat gij het opweegt, in tegenwoordigheid van de oversten der priesteren en Levieten, en der vorsten der vaderen van Israel, te Jeruzalem, in de kameren van des HEEREN huis. 30Toen ontvingen de priesters en de Levieten het gewicht des zilvers en des gouds, en der vaten, om te brengen te Jeruzalem, ten huize onzes Gods. 31Alzo verreisden wij van de rivier Ahava, op den twaalfden der eerste maand, om te gaan naar Jeruzalem; en de hand onzes Gods was over ons, en redde ons van de hand des vijands, en desgenen, die ons lagen legde op den weg. 32En wij kwamen te Jeruzalem; en wij bleven aldaar drie dagen. 33Op den vierden dag nu werd gewogen het zilver, en het goud, en de vaten, in het huis onzes Gods, aan de hand van Meremoth, den zoon van Uria, den priester, en met hem Eleazar, de zoon van Pinehas; en met hem Jozabad, de zoon van Jesua, en Noadja, de zoon van Binnui, de Levieten. 34Naar het getal en naar het gewicht van dat alles; en het ganse gewicht werd ter zelfder tijd opgeschreven. 35En de weggevoerden, die uit de gevangenis gekomen waren, offerden den God Israels brandofferen; twaalf varren voor gans Israel, zes en negentig rammen, zeven en zeventig lammeren, twaalf bokken ten zondoffer; alles ten brandoffer den HEERE. 36Daarna gaven zij de wetten des konings aan des konings stadhouders en landvoogden aan deze zijde der rivier; en zij bevorderden het volk en het huis Gods.
