Lukas 3

1Pada tahun kelima belas masa pemerintahan Kaisar Tiberius, ketika Pontius Pilatus menjadi gubernur Yudea, Herodes menjadi raja Galilea; Filipus saudara Herodes menjadi raja wilayah Iturea dan Trakhonitis; dan Lisanias menjadi raja Abilene, 2Hanas dan Kayafas menjabat sebagai imam agung, datanglah firman Allah kepada Yohanes, anak Zakharia, yang tinggal di padang belantara. 3Maka, pergilah Yohanes ke seluruh daerah di sekitar Yordan dan memberitakan baptisan pertobatan untuk pengampunan dosa, 4seperti yang tertulis di dalam kitab Nabi Yesaya: “Inilah suara orang yang berseru-seru di padang belantara, ‘Siapkanlah jalan bagi Tuhan, luruskanlah jalan bagi-Nya. 5Setiap lembah akan ditimbun, dan setiap gunung dan bukit akan diratakan. Jalan yang berliku-liku akan diluruskan, dan setiap jalan yang tidak rata akan dimuluskan. 6Dan, semua orang akan melihat keselamatan dari Tuhan!’” Yesaya 40:3-5 7Lalu, Yohanes berkata kepada orang banyak yang datang untuk dibaptis olehnya, “Hai, kamu keturunan ular beludak! Siapa yang memperingatkanmu untuk melarikan diri dari murka yang akan datang? 8Oleh karena itu, hasilkan buah-buah yang menunjukkan pertobatanmu. Jangan berkata kepada dirimu sendiri, ‘Abraham adalah nenek moyang kami!’ Aku berkata kepadamu, sesungguhnya dari batu-batu ini Allah bisa membangkitkan anak-anak bagi Abraham! 9Bahkan, mulai sekarang kapak sudah diletakkan di akar pohon. Setiap pohon yang tidak menghasilkan buah yang baik akan ditebang dan dilemparkan ke dalam api.” 10Orang-orang bertanya kepada Yohanes, “Kalau begitu, apa yang harus kami lakukan?” 11Ia menjawab, “Setiap orang yang mempunyai dua baju, ia harus membaginya dengan orang yang tidak mempunyai. Dan, setiap orang yang mempunyai makanan, harus melakukan hal yang sama.” 12Beberapa pengumpul pajak juga datang untuk dibaptis. Mereka bertanya kepada Yohanes, “Guru, apa yang harus kami lakukan?” 13Yohanes memberi tahu mereka, “Jangan menarik pajak lebih dari yang telah ditetapkan bagimu.” 14Beberapa tentara bertanya kepadanya, “Bagaimana dengan kami? Apa yang harus kami lakukan?” Yohanes berkata kepada mereka, “Jangan meminta uang dari siapa pun secara paksa atau dengan tuduhan palsu. Cukupkanlah dirimu dengan gajimu.” 15Ketika semua orang sedang mengharapkan kedatangan Mesias, mereka semua bertanya-tanya dalam hati tentang Yohanes, apakah ia Kristus atau bukan. 16Yohanes menjawab mereka dan berkata, “Aku membaptis kamu dengan air. Akan tetapi, Seseorang yang lebih berkuasa daripada aku akan datang. Untuk membukakan tali sandal-Nya pun aku tidak layak. Ia akan membaptis kamu dengan Roh Kudus dan api. 17Alat penampi sudah ada di tangan-Nya untuk membersihkan lantai pengirikan dan untuk mengumpulkan gandum yang baik ke dalam lumbung-Nya. Akan tetapi, Ia akan membakar sekam ke dalam api yang tidak akan pernah padam.” 18Dengan banyak nasihat yang lain, Yohanes mengajarkan Injil kepada banyak orang. 19Akan tetapi, karena Yohanes menegur Herodes, raja wilayah, atas hal yang telah dilakukannya dengan Herodias, istri saudara Herodes, dan karena semua hal jahat yang telah dilakukannya, 20maka Herodes menambahkan ini atas semuanya dengan menjebloskan Yohanes ke dalam penjara. 21Ketika semua orang dibaptis, Yesus juga dibaptis. Dan, ketika Ia berdoa, langit terbuka, 22dan Roh Kudus turun ke atas-Nya dalam wujud burung merpati. Lalu, ada suara datang dari langit dan berkata, “Engkau adalah Anak-Ku yang Kukasihi. Kepada-Mulah Aku berkenan.” 23Ketika Yesus memulai pelayanan-Nya, Ia berumur kira-kira tiga puluh tahun. Orang-orang berpendapat bahwa Yesus adalah anak Yusuf. Yusuf anak Eli. 24Eli anak Matat. 1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness. 3He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins. 4As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight. 5Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth. 6All flesh will see God’s salvation.’” 7He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones! 9Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.” 10The multitudes asked him, “What then must we do?” 11He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.” 12Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?” 13He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.” 14Soldiers also asked him, saying, “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.” 15As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ, 16John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire, 17whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” 18Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people, 19but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done, 20added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison. 21Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened, 22and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.” 23Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years old, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph, 25the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai, 26the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Joseph, the son of Judah, 27the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri, 28the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmodam, the son of Er, 29the son of Jose, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, 30the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonan, the son of Eliakim, 31the son of Melea, the son of Menan, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David, 32the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon, 33the son of Amminadab, the son of Aram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, 34the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, 35the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah, 36the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan, 38the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

1En in het vijftiende jaar der regering van den keizer Tiberius, als Pontius Pilatus stadhouder was over Judea, en Herodes een viervorst over Galilea, en Filippus, zijn broeder, een viervorst over Iturea en over het land Trachonitis, en Lysanias een viervorst over Abilene; 2Onder de hogepriesters Annas en Kajafas, geschiedde het woord Gods tot Johannes, den zoon van Zacharias, in de woestijn. 3En hij kwam in al het omliggende land der Jordaan, predikende den doop der bekering tot vergeving der zonden. 4Gelijk geschreven is in het boek der woorden van Jesaja, den profeet, zeggende: De stem des roependen in de woestijn: Bereidt den weg des Heeren, maakt Zijn paden recht! 5Alle dal zal gevuld worden, en alle berg en heuvel zal vernederd worden, en de kromme wegen zullen tot een rechten weg worden, en de oneffen tot effen wegen. 6En alle vlees zal de zaligheid Gods zien. 7Hij zeide dan tot de scharen, die uitkwamen, om van hem gedoopt te worden: Gij adderengebroedsels, wie heeft u aangewezen te vlieden van den toekomenden toorn? 8Brengt dan vruchten voort der bekering waardig; en begint niet te zeggen bij uzelven: Wij hebben Abraham tot een vader; want ik zeg u, dat God zelfs uit deze stenen Abraham kinderen kan verwekken. 9En de bijl ligt ook alrede aan den wortel der bomen; alle boom dan, die geen goede vrucht voortbrengt, wordt uitgehouwen, en in het vuur geworpen. 10En de scharen vraagden hem, zeggende: Wat zullen wij dan doen? 11En hij, antwoordende, zeide tot hen: Die twee rokken heeft, dele hem mede, die geen heeft; en die spijze heeft, doe desgelijks. 12En er kwamen ook tollenaars om gedoopt te worden, en zeiden tot hem: Meester! wat zullen wij doen? 13En hij zeide tot hen: Eist niet meer, dan hetgeen u gezet is. 14En hem vraagden ook de krijgslieden, zeggende: En wij, wat zullen wij doen? En hij zeide tot hen: Doet niemand overlast, en ontvreemdt niemand het zijne met bedrog, en laat u vergenoegen met uw bezoldigingen. 15En als het volk verwachtte, en allen in hun harten overleiden van Johannes, of hij niet mogelijk de Christus ware; 16Zo antwoordde Johannes aan allen, zeggende: Ik doop u wel met water; maar Hij komt, Die sterker is dan ik, Wien ik niet waardig ben den riem van Zijn schoenen te ontbinden; Deze zal u dopen met den Heiligen Geest en met vuur; 17Wiens wan in Zijn hand is, en Hij zal Zijn dorsvloer doorzuiveren, en de tarwe zal Hij in Zijn schuur samenbrengen; maar het kaf zal Hij met onuitblusselijk vuur verbranden. 18Hij dan, ook nog vele andere dingen vermanende, verkondigde den volke het Evangelie. 19Maar als Herodes, de viervorst van hem bestraft werd, om Herodias' wil, de vrouw van Filippus, zijn broeder, en over alle boze stukken, die Herodes deed, 20Zo heeft hij ook dit nog boven alles daar toegedaan, dat hij Johannes in de gevangenis gesloten heeft. 21En het geschiedde, toen al het volk gedoopt werd, en Jezus ook gedoopt was, en bad, dat de hemel geopend werd; 22En dat de Heilige Geest op Hem nederdaalde, in lichamelijke gedaante, gelijk een duif; en dat er een stem geschiedde uit den hemel, zeggende: Gij zijt Mijn geliefde Zoon, in U heb Ik Mijn welbehagen! 23En Hij, Jezus, begon omtrent dertig jaren oud te wezen, zijnde (alzo men meende) de zoon van Jozef, den zoon van Heli, 24Den zoon van Matthat, den zoon van Levi, den zoon van Melchi, den zoon van Janna, den zoon van Jozef, 25Den zoon van Mattathias, den zoon van Amos, den zoon van Naum, den zoon van Esli, den zoon van Naggai, 26Den zoon van Maath, den zoon van Mattathias, den zoon van Semei, den zoon van Jozef, den zoon van Juda, 27Den zoon van Johannes, den zoon van Rhesa, den zoon van Zorobabel, den zoon van Salathiel, den zoon van Neri, 28Den zoon van Melchi, den zoon van Addi, den zoon van Kosam, den zoon van Elmodam, den zoon van Er, 29Den zoon van Joses, den zoon van Eliezer, den zoon van Jorim, den zoon van Matthat, den zoon van Levi, 30Den zoon van Simeon, den zoon van Juda, den zoon van Jozef, den zoon van Jonan, den zoon van Eljakim, 31Den zoon van Meleas, den zoon van Mainan, den zoon van Mattatha, den zoon van Nathan, den zoon van David, 32Den zoon van Jesse, den zoon van Obed, den zoon van Booz, den zoon van Salmon, den zoon van Nahasson, 33Den zoon van Aminadab, den zoon van Aram, den zoon van Esrom, den zoon van Fares, den zoon van Juda, 34Den zoon van Jakob, den zoon van Izak, den zoon van Abraham, den zoon van Thara, den zoon van Nachor, 35Den zoon van Saruch, den zoon van Ragau, den zoon van Falek, den zoon van Heber, den zoon van Sala, 36Den zoon van Kainan, den zoon van Arfaxad, den zoon van Sem, den zoon van Noe, den zoon van Lamech, 37Den zoon van Mathusala, den zoon van Enoch, den zoon van Jared, den zoon van Malaleel, den zoon van Kainan, 38Den zoon van Enos, den zoon van Seth, den zoon van Adam, den zoon van God.
