2 Tesalonika 2

1Sekarang, mengenai kedatangan Tuhan kita, Yesus Kristus, dan saat disatukannya kita bersama dengan Dia, kami memintamu, Saudara-saudara, 2supaya kamu jangan cepat bingung dalam pikiranmu atau gelisah saat mendengar bahwa hari Tuhan sudah datang, baik dari roh atau pesan atau surat yang seolah-olah dari kami. 3Jangan biarkan seorang pun menyesatkanmu dengan cara apa pun. Sebab, hari itu tidak akan datang sebelum kemurtadan datang dan si manusia jahat dinyatakan, yaitu si anak kebinasaan, 4yang melawan dan meninggikan dirinya terhadap semua yang disebut allah atau yang disembah orang; dan ia akan mengambil tempat duduk di Bait Allah dan menyatakan dirinya sebagai Allah. 5Tidak ingatkah kamu bahwa ketika aku masih bersamamu, aku memberitahukan hal ini kepadamu? 6Sekarang, kamu tahu apa yang menahan dia sehingga baru pada saatnya nanti, ia akan dinyatakan. 7Sebab, misteri kedurhakaan sudah sedang bekerja, hanya dia yang sekarang menahannya akan tetap menahannya sampai ia disingkirkan. 8Kemudian, manusia jahat itu akan dinyatakan. Namun, Tuhan akan membunuhnya dengan napas mulut-Nya dan melenyapkannya dengan kedatangan-Nya. 9Kedatangan si manusia jahat itu akan selaras dengan pekerjaan Iblis, disertai dengan segala macam kuasa, tanda-tanda ajaib, dan mukjizat-mukjizat palsu; 10dan dengan semua muslihat jahat bagi mereka yang akan binasa karena mereka menolak untuk mengasihi kebenaran sehingga diselamatkan. 11Oleh karena itu, Allah mengirim kesesatan yang hebat atas mereka supaya mereka percaya pada kebohongan, 12sehingga mereka semua dapat dihakimi, yaitu mereka yang tidak percaya pada kebenaran dan senang dengan kejahatan. 13Saudara-saudara yang dikasihi Tuhan, kami harus selalu bersyukur kepada Allah untuk kamu. Sebab, Allah telah memilih kamu sejak semula untuk diselamatkan melalui pengudusan oleh Roh dan iman dalam kebenaran. 14Untuk itulah Allah memanggil kamu melalui Injil yang kami beritakan supaya kamu mendapatkan kemuliaan Tuhan kita, Yesus Kristus. 15Jadi, Saudara-saudara, berdirilah teguh dan peganglah ajaran-ajaran yang telah diajarkan kepadamu, baik melalui kata-kata maupun melalui surat kami. 16Sekarang, kiranya Tuhan kita, Yesus Kristus, sendiri dan Allah Bapa kita, yang telah mengasihi kita dan memberi kita penghiburan kekal dan pengharapan yang indah melalui anugerah, 17menghibur dan menguatkan hatimu dalam setiap pekerjaan dan perkataan yang baik.

1Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you 2not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come. 3Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction, 4he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God. 5Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things? 6Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season. 7For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way. 8Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming; 9even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie; 12that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth; 14to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter. 16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

1En wij bidden u, broeders, door de toekomst van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, en onze toevergadering tot Hem, 2Dat gij niet haastelijk bewogen wordt van verstand, of verschrikt, noch door geest, noch door woord, noch door zendbrief, als van ons geschreven, alsof de dag van Christus aanstaande ware. 3Dat u niemand verleide op enigerlei wijze; want die komt niet, tenzij dat eerst de afval gekomen zij, en dat geopenbaard zij de mens der zonde, de zoon des verderfs; 4Die zich tegenstelt, en verheft boven al wat God genaamd, of als God geeerd wordt, alzo dat hij in den tempel Gods als een God zal zitten, zichzelven vertonende, dat hij God is. 5Gedenkt gij niet, dat ik, nog bij u zijnde, u deze dingen gezegd heb? 6En nu, wat hem wederhoudt, weet gij, opdat hij geopenbaard worde te zijner eigen tijd. 7Want de verborgenheid der ongerechtigheid wordt alrede gewrocht; alleenlijk, Die hem nu wederhoudt, Die zal hem wederhouden, totdat hij uit het midden zal weggedaan worden. 8En alsdan zal de ongerechtige geopenbaard worden, denwelken de Heere verdoen zal door den Geest Zijns monds, en te niet maken door de verschijning Zijner toekomst; 9Hem, zeg ik, wiens toekomst is naar de werking des satans, in alle kracht, en tekenen, en wonderen der leugen; 10En in alle verleiding der onrechtvaardigheid in degenen, die verloren gaan; daarvoor dat zij de liefde der waarheid niet aangenomen hebben, om zalig te worden. 11En daarom zal God hun zenden een kracht der dwaling, dat zij de leugen zouden geloven; 12Opdat zij allen veroordeeld worden, die de waarheid niet geloofd hebben, maar een welbehagen hebben gehad in de ongerechtigheid. 13Maar wij zijn schuldig altijd God te danken over u, broeders, die van den Heere bemind zijt, dat u God van den beginne verkoren heeft tot zaligheid, in heiligmaking des Geestes, en geloof der waarheid; 14Waartoe Hij u geroepen heeft door ons Evangelie, tot verkrijging der heerlijkheid van onzen Heere Jezus Christus. 15Zo dan, broeders, staat vast en houdt de inzettingen, die u geleerd zijn, hetzij door ons woord, hetzij door onzen zendbrief. 16En onze Heere Jezus Christus Zelf, en onze God en Vader, Die ons heeft liefgehad, en gegeven heeft een eeuwige vertroosting en goede hoop in genade, 17Vertrooste uw harten, en versterke u in alle goed woord en werk.
