1Malheur à moi ! car je suis comme à la récolte des fruits, Comme au grappillage après la vendange : Il n’y a point de grappes à manger, Point de ces primeurs que mon âme désire. 2L’homme de bien a disparu du pays, Et il n’y a plus de juste parmi les hommes ; Ils sont tous en embuscade pour verser le sang, Chacun tend un piège à son frère. 3Leurs mains sont habiles à faire le mal : Le prince a des exigences, Le juge réclame un salaire, Le grand manifeste son avidité, Et ils font ainsi cause commune. 4Le meilleur d’entre eux est comme une ronce, Le plus droit pire qu’un buisson d’épines. Le jour annoncé par tes prophètes, ton châtiment approche. C’est alors qu’ils seront dans la confusion. 5Ne crois pas à un ami, Ne te fie pas à un intime ; Devant celle qui repose sur ton sein Garde les portes de ta bouche. 6Car le fils outrage le père, La fille se soulève contre sa mère, La belle-fille contre sa belle-mère ; Chacun a pour ennemis les gens de sa maison. - 7Pour moi, je regarderai vers l’Éternel, Je mettrai mon espérance dans le Dieu de mon salut ; Mon Dieu m’exaucera. 8Ne te réjouis pas à mon sujet, mon ennemie ! Car si je suis tombée, je me relèverai ; Si je suis assise dans les ténèbres, L’Éternel sera ma lumière. 9Je supporterai la colère de l’Éternel, Puisque j’ai péché contre lui, Jusqu’à ce qu’il défende ma cause et me fasse droit ; Il me conduira à la lumière, Et je contemplerai sa justice. 10Mon ennemie le verra et sera couverte de honte, Elle qui me disait : Où est l’Éternel, ton Dieu ? Mes yeux se réjouiront à sa vue ; Alors elle sera foulée aux pieds comme la boue des rues. - 11Le jour où l’on rebâtira tes murs, Ce jour-là tes limites seront reculées. 12En ce jour, on viendra vers toi De l’Assyrie et des villes d’Égypte, De l’Égypte jusqu’au fleuve, D’une mer à l’autre, et d’une montagne à l’autre . 13Le pays sera dévasté à cause de ses habitants, À cause du fruit de leurs œuvres. 14Pais ton peuple avec ta houlette, le troupeau de ton héritage, Qui habite solitaire dans la forêt au milieu du Carmel ! Qu’ils paissent sur le Basan et en Galaad, Comme au jour d’autrefois. - 15Comme au jour où tu sortis du pays d’Égypte, Je te ferai voir des prodiges. - 16Les nations le verront, et seront confuses, Avec toute leur puissance ; Elles mettront la main sur la bouche, Leurs oreilles seront assourdies. 17Elles lécheront la poussière, comme le serpent, Comme les reptiles de la terre ; Elles seront saisies de frayeur hors de leurs forteresses ; Elles trembleront devant l’Éternel, notre Dieu, Elles te craindront. 18Quel Dieu est semblable à toi, Qui pardonnes l’iniquité, qui oublies les péchés Du reste de ton héritage ? Il ne garde pas sa colère à toujours, Car il prend plaisir à la miséricorde. 19Il aura encore compassion de nous, Il mettra sous ses pieds nos iniquités ; Tu jetteras au fond de la mer tous leurs péchés. 20Tu témoigneras de la fidélité à Jacob, De la bonté à Abraham, Comme tu l’as juré à nos pères aux jours d’autrefois.
1Misery is mine! Indeed, I am like one who gathers the summer fruits, as gleanings of the vineyard: There is no cluster of grapes to eat. My soul desires to eat the early fig. 2The godly man has perished out of the earth, and there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; every man hunts his brother with a net. 3Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together. 4The best of them is like a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even your visitation, has come; now is the time of their confusion. 5Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth! 6For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. 7But as for me, I will look to Yahweh. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. 8Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, Yahweh will be a light to me. 9I will bear the indignation of Yahweh, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case, and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light. I will see his righteousness. 10Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, where is Yahweh your God? Then my enemy will see me and will cover her shame. Now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets. 11A day to build your walls— In that day, he will extend your boundary. 12In that day they will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt even to the River, and from sea to sea, and mountain to mountain. 13Yet the land will be desolate because of those who dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings. 14Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your heritage, who dwell by themselves in a forest, in the midst of fertile pasture land, let them feed; in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old. 15“As in the days of your coming out of the land of Egypt, I will show them marvelous things.” 16The nations will see and be ashamed of all their might. They will lay their hand on their mouth. Their ears will be deaf. 17They will lick the dust like a serpent. Like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their dens. They will come with fear to Yahweh our God, and will be afraid because of you. 18Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness. 19He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. 20You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.
1Ai mij! want ik ben, als wanneer de zomervruchten zijn ingezameld; als wanneer de nalezingen in den wijnoogst geschied zijn; er is geen druif om te eten; mijn ziel begeert vroegrijpe vrucht. 2De goedertierene is vergaan uit het land, en er is niemand oprecht onder de mensen; zij loeren altemaal op bloed, zij jagen, een iegelijk zijn broeder, met een jachtgaren. 3Om met beide handen wel dapper kwaad te doen, zo eist de vorst, en de rechter oordeelt om vergelding; en de grote spreekt de verderving zijner ziel, en zij draaien ze dicht ineen. 4De beste van hen is als een doorn; de oprechtste is scherper dan een doornheg; de dag uwer wachters, uw bezoeking, is gekomen; nu zal hunlieder verwarring wezen. 5Gelooft een vriend niet, vertrouwt niet op een voornaamsten vriend; bewaar de deuren uws monds voor haar, die in uw schoot ligt. 6Want de zoon veracht den vader, de dochter staat op tegen haar moeder, de schoondochter tegen haar schoonmoeder; eens mans vijanden zijn zijn huisgenoten. 7Maar ik zal uitzien naar den HEERE, ik zal wachten op de God mijns heils; mijn God zal mij horen. 8Verblijd u niet over mij, o mijn vijandin! wanneer ik gevallen ben, zal ik weder opstaan; wanneer ik in duisternis zal gezeten zijn, zal de HEERE mij een licht zijn. 9Ik zal des HEEREN gramschap dragen, want ik heb tegen Hem gezondigd; totdat Hij mijn twist twiste, en mijn recht uitvoere; Hij zal mij brengen aan het licht; ik zal mijn lust zien aan Zijn gerechtigheid. 10En mijn vijandin zal het zien, en schaamte zal haar bedekken; die tot mij zegt: Waar is de HEERE, uw God? Mijn ogen zullen aan haar zien; nu zal zij worden tot vertreding, als slijk der straten. 11Ten dage als Hij uw muren zal herbouwen, te dien dage zal het besluit verre heengaan. 12Te dien dage zal het ook komen tot u toe, van Assur af, zelfs tot de vaste steden toe; en van de vestingen tot aan de rivier, en van zee tot zee, en van gebergte tot gebergte. 13Maar dit land zal worden tot een verwoesting, zijner inwoners halve, vanwege de vrucht hunner handelingen. 14Gij dan, weid Uw volk met Uw staf, de kudde Uwer erfenis, die alleen woont, in het woud, in het midden van een vruchtbaar land; laat ze weiden in Basan en Gilead, als in de dagen van ouds. 15Ik zal haar wonderen doen zien, als in de dagen, toen gij uit Egypteland uittoogt. 16De heidenen zullen het zien, en beschaamd zijn, vanwege al hun macht; zij zullen de hand op den mond leggen; hun oren zullen doof worden. 17Zij zullen het stof lekken, als de slang; als kruipende dieren der aarde, zullen zij zich beroeren uit hun sloten; zij zullen met vervaardheid komen tot den HEERE, onzen God, en zullen voor U vrezen. 18Wie is een God gelijk Gij, Die de ongerechtigheid vergeeft, en de overtreding van het overblijfsel Zijner erfenis voorbijgaat? Hij houdt Zijn toorn niet in eeuwigheid; want Hij heeft lust aan goedertierenheid. 19Hij zal Zich onzer weder ontfermen; Hij zal onze ongerechtigheden dempen; ja, Gij zult al hun zonden in de diepten der zee werpen. 20Gij zult Jakob de trouw, Abraham de goedertierenheid geven, die Gij onzen vaderen van oude dagen af gezworen hebt.
