1Καθώς λοιπόν έμαθεν ο Κύριος ότι ήκουσαν οι Φαρισαίοι ότι ο Ιησούς πλειοτέρους μαθητάς κάμνει και βαπτίζει παρά ο Ιωάννης- 2αν και ο Ιησούς αυτός δεν εβάπτιζεν, αλλ' οι μαθηταί αυτού- 3αφήκε την Ιουδαίαν και απήλθε πάλιν εις την Γαλιλαίαν. 4Έπρεπε δε να περάση διά της Σαμαρείας. 5Έρχεται λοιπόν εις πόλιν της Σαμαρείας λεγομένην Σιχάρ, πλησίον του αγρού, τον οποίον έδωκεν ο Ιακώβ εις τον Ιωσήφ τον υιόν αυτού. 6Ήτο δε εκεί πηγή του Ιακώβ. Ο Ιησούς λοιπόν κεκοπιακώς εκ της οδοιπορίας εκάθητο ούτως εις την πηγήν. Ώρα ήτο περίπου έκτη. 7Έρχεται γυνή τις εκ της Σαμαρείας, διά να αντλήση ύδωρ. Λέγει προς αυτήν ο Ιησούς· Δος μοι να πίω. 8Διότι οι μαθηταί αυτού είχον υπάγει εις την πόλιν, διά να αγοράσωσι τροφάς. 9Λέγει λοιπόν προς αυτόν η γυνή η Σαμαρείτις· Πως συ, Ιουδαίος ων, ζητείς να πίης παρ' εμού, ήτις είμαι γυνή Σαμαρείτις; Διότι δεν συγκοινωνούσιν οι Ιουδαίοι με τους Σαμαρείτας. 10Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτήν· Εάν ήξευρες την δωρεάν του Θεού, και τις είναι ο λέγων σοι, Δος μοι να πίω, συ ήθελες ζητήσει παρ' αυτού, και ήθελε σοι δώσει ύδωρ ζων. 11Λέγει προς αυτόν η γυνή· Κύριε, ούτε άντλημα έχεις, και το φρέαρ είναι βαθύ· πόθεν λοιπόν έχεις το ύδωρ το ζων; 12μήπως συ είσαι μεγαλήτερος του πατρός ημών Ιακώβ, όστις έδωκεν εις ημάς το φρέαρ, και αυτός έπιεν εξ αυτού και οι υιοί αυτού και τα θρέμματα αυτού; 13Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτήν· Πας όστις πίνει εκ του ύδατος τούτου θέλει διψήσει πάλιν· 14όστις όμως πίη εκ του ύδατος, το οποίον εγώ θέλω δώσει εις αυτόν, δεν θέλει διψήσει εις τον αιώνα, αλλά το ύδωρ, το οποίον θέλω δώσει εις αυτόν, θέλει γείνει εν αυτώ πηγή ύδατος αναβλύζοντος εις ζωήν αιώνιον. 15Λέγει προς αυτόν η γυνή· Κύριε, δος μοι τούτο το ύδωρ, διά να μη διψώ μηδέ να έρχωμαι εδώ να αντλώ. 16Λέγει προς αυτήν ο Ιησούς· Ύπαγε, κάλεσον τον άνδρα σου και ελθέ εδώ. 17Απεκρίθη η γυνή και είπε· Δεν έχω άνδρα. Λέγει προς αυτήν ο Ιησούς· Καλώς είπας ότι δεν έχω άνδρα· 18διότι πέντε άνδρας έλαβες, και εκείνος, τον οποίον έχεις τώρα, δεν είναι ανήρ σου· τούτο αληθές είπας. 19Λέγει προς αυτόν η γυνή· Κύριε, βλέπω ότι συ είσαι προφήτης. 20Οι πατέρες ημών εις τούτο το όρος προσεκύνησαν, και σεις λέγετε ότι εν τοις Ιεροσολύμοις είναι ο τόπος όπου πρέπει να προσκυνώμεν. 21Λέγει προς αυτήν ο Ιησούς· Γύναι, πίστευσόν μοι ότι έρχεται ώρα, ότε ούτε εις το όρος τούτο ούτε εις τα Ιεροσόλυμα θέλετε προσκυνήσει τον Πατέρα. 22Σεις προσκυνείτε εκείνο το οποίον δεν εξεύρετε, ημείς προσκυνούμεν εκείνο το οποίον εξεύρομεν, διότι η σωτηρία είναι εκ των Ιουδαίων. 23Πλην έρχεται ώρα, και ήδη είναι, ότε οι αληθινοί προσκυνηταί θέλουσι προσκυνήσει τον Πατέρα εν πνεύματι και αληθεία· διότι ο Πατήρ τοιούτους ζητεί τους προσκυνούντας αυτόν. 24Ο Θεός είναι Πνεύμα, και οι προσκυνούντες αυτόν εν πνεύματι και αληθεία πρέπει να προσκυνώσι. 25Λέγει προς αυτόν η γυνή· Εξεύρω ότι έρχεται ο Μεσσίας, ο λεγόμενος Χριστός· όταν έλθη εκείνος, θέλει αναγγείλει εις ημάς πάντα. 26Λέγει προς αυτήν ο Ιησούς· Εγώ είμαι, ο λαλών σοι. 27Και επάνω εις τούτο ήλθον οι μαθηταί αυτού και εθαύμασαν ότι ελάλει μετά γυναικός· ουδείς όμως είπε, Τι ζητείς; ή Τι λαλείς μετ' αυτής; 28Αφήκε λοιπόν η γυνή την υδρίαν αυτής και υπήγεν εις την πόλιν και λέγει προς τους ανθρώπους· 29Έλθετε να ίδητε άνθρωπον, όστις μοι είπε πάντα όσα έπραξα· μήπως ούτος είναι ο Χριστός; 30Εξήλθον λοιπόν εκ της πόλεως και ήρχοντο προς αυτόν. 31Εν δε τω μεταξύ οι μαθηταί παρεκάλουν αυτόν λέγοντες· Ραββί, φάγε. 32Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς. Εγώ έχω φαγητόν να φάγω, το οποίον σεις δεν εξεύρετε. 33Έλεγον λοιπόν οι μαθηταί προς αλλήλους· Μήπως τις έφερε προς αυτόν να φάγη; 34Λέγει προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Το εμόν φαγητόν είναι να πράττω το θέλημα του πέμψαντός με και να τελειώσω το έργον αυτού. 35Δεν λέγετε σεις ότι τέσσαρες μήνες είναι έτι και ο θερισμός έρχεται; Ιδού, σας λέγω, υψώσατε τους οφθαλμούς σας και ίδετε τα χωράφια, ότι είναι ήδη λευκά προς θερισμόν. 36Και ο θερίζων λαμβάνει μισθόν και συνάγει καρπόν εις ζωήν αιώνιον, διά να χαίρη ομού και ο σπείρων και ο θερίζων. 37Διότι κατά τούτο αληθεύει ο λόγος, ότι άλλος είναι ο σπείρων και άλλος ο θερίζων. 38Εγώ σας απέστειλα να θερίζητε εκείνο, εις το οποίον σεις δεν εκοπιάσατε· άλλοι εκοπίασαν, και σεις εισήλθετε εις τον κόπον αυτών. 39Εξ εκείνης δε της πόλεως πολλοί των Σαμαρειτών επίστευσαν εις αυτόν διά τον λόγον της γυναικός, μαρτυρούσης ότι μοι είπε πάντα όσα έπραξα. 40Καθώς λοιπόν ήλθον προς αυτόν οι Σαμαρείται, παρεκάλουν αυτόν να μείνη παρ' αυτοίς· και έμεινεν εκεί δύο ημέρας. 41Και πολύ πλειότεροι επίστευσαν διά τον λόγον αυτού, 42και προς την γυναίκα έλεγον, ότι δεν πιστεύομεν πλέον διά τον λόγον σου· επειδή ημείς ηκούσαμεν, και γνωρίζομεν ότι ούτος είναι αληθώς ο Σωτήρ του κόσμου, ο Χριστός. 43Μετά δε τας δύο ημέρας εξήλθεν εκείθεν και υπήγεν εις την Γαλιλαίαν. 44Διότι αυτός ο Ιησούς εμαρτύρησεν ότι προφήτης εν τη πατρίδι αυτού δεν έχει τιμήν. 45Ότε λοιπόν ήλθεν εις την Γαλιλαίαν, εδέχθησαν αυτόν οι Γαλιλαίοι, ιδόντες πάντα όσα έκαμεν εν Ιεροσολύμοις κατά την εορτήν· διότι και αυτοί ήλθον εις την εορτήν. 46Ήλθε λοιπόν ο Ιησούς πάλιν εις την Κανά της Γαλιλαίας, όπου έκαμε το ύδωρ οίνον. Και ήτο τις βασιλικός άνθρωπος, του οποίου ο υιός ησθένει εν Καπερναούμ· 47ούτος ακούσας ότι ο Ιησούς ήλθεν εκ της Ιουδαίας εις την Γαλιλαίαν, υπήγε προς αυτόν και παρεκάλει αυτόν να καταβή και να ιατρεύση τον υιόν αυτού· διότι έμελλε να αποθάνη. 48Είπε λοιπόν ο Ιησούς προς αυτόν· Εάν δεν ίδητε σημεία και τέρατα, δεν θέλετε πιστεύσει. 49Λέγει προς αυτόν ο βασιλικός· Κύριε, κατάβα πριν αποθάνη το παιδίον μου. 50Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Ύπαγε, ο υιός σου ζη. Και επίστευσεν ο άνθρωπος εις τον λόγον, τον οποίον είπε προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς, και ανεχώρει. 51Ενώ δε ούτος ήδη κατέβαινεν, απήντησαν αυτόν οι δούλοι αυτού και απήγγειλαν λέγοντες ότι ο υιός σου ζη. 52Ηρώτησε λοιπόν αυτούς την ώραν, καθ' ην έγεινε καλήτερα. Και είπον προς αυτόν ότι Χθες την εβδόμην ώραν αφήκεν αυτόν ο πυρετός. 53Ενόησε λοιπόν ο πατήρ ότι έγεινε τούτο κατ' εκείνην την ώραν, καθ' ην ο Ιησούς είπε προς αυτόν ότι Ο υιός σου ζή· και επίστευσεν αυτός και όλη η οικία αυτού. 54Τούτο πάλιν δεύτερον θαύμα έκαμεν ο Ιησούς, αφού ήλθεν εκ της Ιουδαίας εις την Γαλιλαίαν.
1Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples), 3he left Judea, and departed into Galilee. 4He needed to pass through Samaria. 5So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph. 6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” 8For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 9The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From where then have you that living water? 12Are you greater than our father, Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, as did his children, and his livestock?” 13Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” 15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.” 16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’ 18for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.” 19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” 21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father. 22You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews. 23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers. 24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.” 26Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.” 27At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?” 28So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people, 29“Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Christ?” 30They went out of the city, and were coming to him. 31In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.” 33The disciples therefore said one to another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” 34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work. 35Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest?’ Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already. 36He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit to eternal life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’ 38I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.” 39From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I did.” 40So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days. 41Many more believed because of his word. 42They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.” 43After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee. 44For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country. 45So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast. 46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.” 49The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” 50Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. 51As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!” 52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.” 53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house. 54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.

Jezus zeide tot haar: Gij hebt wel gezegd: Ik heb geen man. 18Want gij hebt vijf mannen gehad, en dien gij nu hebt, is uw man niet; dat hebt gij met waarheid gezegd. 19De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Heere, ik zie, dat Gij een profeet zijt. 20Onze vaders hebben op deze berg aangebeden; en gijlieden zegt, dat te Jeruzalem de plaats is, waar men moet aanbidden. 21Jezus zeide tot haar: Vrouw, geloof Mij, de ure komt, wanneer gijlieden, noch op dezen berg, noch te Jeruzalem, den Vader zult aanbidden. 22Gijlieden aanbidt, wat gij niet weet; wij aanbidden, wat wij weten; want de zaligheid is uit de Joden. 23Maar de ure komt, en is nu, wanneer de ware aanbidders den Vader aanbidden zullen in geest en waarheid; want de Vader zoekt ook dezulken, die Hem alzo aanbidden. 24God is een Geest, en die Hem aanbidden, moeten Hem aanbidden in geest en waarheid. 25De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Ik weet, dat de Messias komt (Die genaamd wordt Christus); wanneer Die zal gekomen zijn, zo zal Hij ons alle dingen verkondigen. 26Jezus zeide tot haar: Ik ben het, Die met u spreek. 27En daarop kwamen Zijn discipelen en verwonderden zich, dat Hij met een vrouw sprak. Nochtans zeide niemand: Wat vraagt Gij, of: Wat spreekt Gij met haar? 28Zo verliet de vrouw dan haar watervat, en ging heen in de stad en zeide tot de lieden: 29Komt, ziet een Mens, Die mij gezegd heeft alles, wat ik gedaan heb; is Deze niet de Christus? 30Zij dan gingen uit de stad, en kwamen tot Hem. 31En ondertussen baden Hem de discipelen, zeggende: Rabbi, eet. 32Maar Hij zeide tot hen: Ik heb een spijs om te eten, die gij niet weet. 33Zo zeiden dan de discipelen tegen elkander: Heeft Hem iemand te eten gebracht? 34Jezus zeide tot hen: Mijn spijs is, dat Ik doe den wil Desgenen, Die Mij gezonden heeft, en Zijn werk volbrenge. 35Zegt gijlieden niet: Het zijn nog vier maanden, en dan komt de oogst? Ziet, Ik zeg u: Heft uw ogen op en aanschouwt de landen; want zij zijn alrede wit om te oogsten. 36En die maait, ontvangt loon, en vergadert vrucht ten eeuwigen leven; opdat zich te zamen verblijde, beide, die zaait en die maait. 37Want hierin is die spreuk waarachtig: Een ander is het, die zaait, en een ander, die maait. 38Ik heb u uitgezonden, om te maaien, hetgeen gij niet bearbeid hebt; anderen hebben het bearbeid, en gij zijt tot hun arbeid ingegaan. 39En velen der Samaritanen uit die stad geloofden in Hem, om het woord der vrouw, die getuigde: Hij heeft mij gezegd alles, wat ik gedaan heb. 40Als dan de Samaritanen tot Hem gekomen waren, baden zij Hem, dat Hij bij hen bleef; en Hij bleef aldaar twee dagen. 41En er geloofden er veel meer om Zijns woords wil; 42En zeiden tot de vrouw: Wij geloven niet meer om uws zeggens wil; want wij zelven hebben Hem gehoord, en weten, dat Deze waarlijk is de Christus, de Zaligmaker der wereld. 43En na de twee dagen ging Hij van daar en ging heen naar Galilea; 44Want Jezus heeft Zelf getuigd, dat een profeet in zijn eigen vaderland geen eer heeft. 45Als Hij dan in Galilea kwam, ontvingen Hem de Galileers, gezien hebbende al de dingen, die Hij te Jeruzalem op het feest gedaan had; want ook zij waren tot het feest gegaan. 46Zo kwam dan Jezus wederom te Kana in Galilea, waar Hij het water wijn gemaakt had. En er was een zeker koninklijk hoveling, wiens zoon krank was, te Kapernaum. 47Deze, gehoord hebbende, dat Jezus uit Judea in Galilea kwam, ging tot Hem, en bad Hem, dat Hij afkwame, en zijn zoon gezond maakte; want hij lag op zijn sterven. 48Jezus dan zeide tot hem: Tenzij dat gijlieden tekenen en wonderen ziet, zo zult gij niet geloven. 49De koninklijke hoveling zeide tot Hem: Heere, kom af, eer mijn kind sterft. 50Jezus zeide tot hem: Ga heen, uw zoon leeft. En de mens geloofde het woord, dat Jezus tot hem zeide, en ging heen. 51En als hij nu afging, kwamen hem zijn dienstknechten tegemoet, en boodschapten, zeggende: Uw kind leeft! 52Zo vraagde hij dan van hen de ure, in welke het beter met hem geworden was. En zij zeiden tot hem: Gisteren te zeven ure verliet hem de koorts. 53De vader bekende dan, dat het in dezelve ure was, in dewelke Jezus tot hem gezegd had: Uw zoon leeft. En hij geloofde zelf, en zijn gehele huis. 54Dit tweede teken heeft Jezus wederom gedaan, als Hij uit Judea in Galilea gekomen was.
