Προς Εβραίους 8

1Κεφάλαιον δε των λεγομένων είναι τούτο, Τοιούτον έχομεν αρχιερέα, όστις εκάθησεν εν δεξιά του θρόνου της μεγαλωσύνης εν τοις ουρανοίς, 2λειτουργός των αγίων και της σκηνής της αληθινής, την οποίαν κατεσκεύασεν ο Κύριος, και ουχί άνθρωπος. 3Διότι πας αρχιερεύς καθίσταται διά να προσφέρη δώρα και θυσίας· όθεν είναι αναγκαίον να έχη και ούτός τι, το οποίον να προσφέρη. 4Επειδή εάν ήτο επί γης, ουδέ ήθελεν είσθαι ιερεύς, διότι υπήρχον οι ιερείς οι προσφέροντες τα δώρα κατά τον νόμον, 5οίτινες λειτουργούσιν εις υπόδειγμα και σκιάν των επουρανίων, καθώς ελαλήθη προς τον Μωϋσήν ότε έμελλε να κατασκευάση την σκηνήν· διότι Πρόσεχε, λέγει, να κάμης πάντα κατά τον τύπον τον δειχθέντα εις σε εν τω όρει. 6Τώρα όμως ο Χριστός έλαβεν εξοχωτέραν λειτουργίαν, καθόσον είναι και ανωτέρας διαθήκης μεσίτης, ήτις ενομοθετήθη με ανωτέρας επαγγελίας. 7Διότι εάν η πρώτη εκείνη ήτο άμεμπτος, δεν ήθελε ζητείσθαι τόπος διά την δευτέραν. 8Διότι μεμφόμενος αυτούς λέγει· Ιδού, έρχονται ημέραι, λέγει Κύριος, και θέλω συντελέσει επί τον οίκον του Ισραήλ και επί τον οίκον του Ιούδα διαθήκην καινήν, 9ουχί κατά την διαθήκην, την οποίαν έκαμον προς τους πατέρας αυτών, καθ' ην ημέραν επίασα αυτούς από της χειρός διά να εξαγάγω αυτούς εκ γης Αιγύπτου· διότι αυτοί δεν ενέμειναν εις την διαθήκην μου, και εγώ ημέλησα αυτούς, λέγει Κύριος. 10Διότι αύτη είναι η διαθήκη, την οποίαν θέλω κάμει προς τον οίκον του Ισραήλ μετά τας ημέρας εκείνας, λέγει Κύριος· Θέλω δώσει τους νόμους μου εις την διάνοιαν αυτών, και θέλω γράψει αυτούς επί της καρδίας αυτών, και θέλω είσθαι εις αυτούς Θεός, και αυτοί θέλουσιν είσθαι εις εμέ λαός. 11Και δεν θέλουσι διδάσκει έκαστος τον πλησίον αυτού και έκαστος τον αδελφόν αυτού, λέγων· Γνώρισον τον Κύριον· διότι πάντες θέλουσι με γνωρίζει από μικρού έως μεγάλου αυτών· 12διότι θέλω είσθαι ίλεως εις τας αδικίας αυτών, και τας αμαρτίας αυτών και τας ανομίας αυτών δεν θέλω ενθυμείσθαι πλέον. 13Λέγων δε καινήν, έκαμε παλαιάν την πρώτην· το δε παλαιούμενον και γηράσκον είναι πλησίον αφανισμού.

1Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2a servant of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man. 3For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer. 4For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned by God when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, “See, you shall make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.” 6But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law. 7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8For finding fault with them, he said, “Behold, the days come”, says the Lord, “that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; 9not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they didn’t continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord. 10“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days,” says the Lord; “I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11They will not teach every man his fellow citizen, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all will know me, from their least to their greatest. 12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.” 13In that he says, “A new covenant”, he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away.

1De hoofdsom nu der dingen, waarvan wij spreken, is, dat wij hebben zodanigen Hogepriester, Die gezeten is aan de rechter hand van den troon der Majesteit in de hemelen: 2Een Bedienaar des heiligdoms, en des waren tabernakels, welken de Heere heeft opgericht, en geen mens. 3Want een iegelijk hogepriester wordt gesteld, om gaven en slachtofferen te offeren; waarom het noodzakelijk was, dat ook Deze wat had, dat Hij zou offeren. 4Want indien Hij op aarde ware, zo zou Hij zelfs geen Priester zijn, dewijl er priesters zijn, die naar de wet gaven offeren; 5Welke het voorbeeld en de schaduw der hemelse dingen dienen, gelijk Mozes door Goddelijke aanspraak vermaand was, als hij den tabernakel volmaken zou: Want zie, zegt Hij, dat gij het alles maakt naar de afbeelding, die u op den berg getoond is. 6En nu heeft Hij zoveel uitnemender bediening gekregen, als Hij ook eens beteren verbonds Middelaar is, hetwelk in betere beloftenissen bevestigd is. 7Want indien dat eerste verbond onberispelijk geweest ware, zo zou voor het tweede geen plaats gezocht zijn geweest. 8Want hen berispende, zegt Hij tot hen: Ziet, de dagen komen, spreekt de Heere, en Ik zal over het huis Israels, en over het huis van Juda een nieuw verbond oprichten; 9Niet naar het verbond, dat Ik met hun vaderen gemaakt heb, ten dage, als Ik hen bij de hand nam, om hen uit Egypteland te leiden; want zij zijn in dit Mijn verbond niet gebleven, en Ik heb op hen niet geacht, zegt de Heere. 10Want dit is het verbond, dat Ik met het huis Israels maken zal na die dagen, zegt de Heere: Ik zal Mijn wetten in hun verstand geven, en in hun harten zal Ik die inschrijven; en Ik zal hun tot een God zijn, en zij zullen Mij tot een volk zijn. 11En zij zullen niet leren, een iegelijk zijn naaste, en een iegelijk zijn broeder, zeggende: Ken de Heere; want zij zullen Mij allen kennen van den kleine onder hen tot den grote onder hen. 12Want Ik zal hun ongerechtigheden genadig zijn, en hun zonden en hun overtredingen zal Ik geenszins meer gedenken. 13Als Hij zegt: Een nieuw verbond, zo heeft Hij het eerste oud gemaakt; dat nu oud gemaakt is en verouderd, is nabij de verdwijning.
