1Επί της σκοπιάς μου θέλω σταθή και θέλω στηλωθή επί του πύργου, και θέλω αποσκοπεύει διά να ίδω τι θέλει λαλήσει προς εμέ και τι θέλω αποκριθή προς τον ελέγχοντά με. 2Και απεκρίθη προς εμέ ο Κύριος και είπε, Γράψον την όρασιν και έκθεσον αυτήν επί πινακιδίων, ώστε τρέχων να αναγινώσκη τις αυτήν· 3διότι η όρασις μένει έτι εις ωρισμένον καιρόν, αλλ' εις το τέλος θέλει λαλήσει και δεν θέλει ψευσθή· αν και αργοπορή, πρόσμεινον αυτήν· διότι βεβαίως θέλει ελθεί, δεν θέλει βραδύνει. 4Ιδού, η ψυχή αυτού επήρθη, δεν είναι ευθεία εν αυτώ· ο δε δίκαιος θέλει ζήσει διά της πίστεως αυτού. 5Και μάλιστα είναι προπετής εξ αιτίας του οίνου, ανήρ αλαζών, ουδέ ησυχάζει· όστις πλατύνει την ψυχήν αυτού ως άδης και είναι ως ο θάνατος και δεν χορταίνει, αλλά συνάγει εις εαυτόν πάντα τα έθνη και συλλαμβάνει εις εαυτόν πάντας τους λαούς. 6Δεν θέλουσι λάβει πάντες ούτοι παραβολήν κατ' αυτού και παροιμίαν εμπαικτικήν εναντίον αυτού; και ειπεί, Ουαί εις τον πληθύνοντα το μη εαυτού· έως πότε; και εις τον επιβαρύνοντα εαυτόν με παχύν πηλόν. 7Δεν θέλουσι σηκωθή εξαίφνης οι δάκνοντές σε και εξεγερθή οι ταλαιπωρούντές σε και θέλεις είσθαι προς αυτούς εις διαρπαγήν; 8Επειδή συ ελαφυραγώγησας έθνη πολλά, άπαν το υπόλοιπον των λαών θέλουσι σε λαφυραγωγήσει, εξ αιτίας των αιμάτων των ανθρώπων και της αδικίας της γης, της πόλεως και πάντων των κατοικούντων εν αυτή. 9Ουαί εις τον πλεονεκτούντα πλεονεξίαν κακήν διά τον οίκον αυτού, διά να θέση την φωλεάν αυτού υψηλά, διά να ελευθερωθή εκ χειρός του κακού. 10Εβουλεύθης αισχύνην εις τον οίκόν σου, εξολοθρεύων πολλούς λαούς, και ημάρτησας κατά της ψυχής σου. 11Διότι ο λίθος από του τοίχου θέλει βοήσει και τα ξυλοδέματα θέλουσιν αποκριθή προς αυτόν. 12Ουαί εις τον οικοδομούντα πόλιν εν αίμασι και θεμελιούντα πόλιν εν αδικίαις. 13Ιδού, δεν είναι τούτο παρά του Κυρίου των δυνάμεων, να μοχθώσιν οι λαοί διά το πυρ και τα έθνη να αποκάμνωσι διά την ματαιότητα; 14Διότι η γη θέλει είσθαι πλήρης της γνώσεως της δόξης του Κυρίου, καθώς τα ύδατα σκεπάζουσι την θάλασσαν. 15Ουαί εις τον ποτίζοντα τον πλησίον αυτού, εις σε όστις προσφέρεις την φιάλην σου και προσέτι μεθύεις αυτόν, διά να θεωρής την γύμνωσιν αυτών. 16Ενεπλήσθης αισχύνης αντί δόξης· πίε και συ, και ας ανακαλυφθή η ακροβυστία σου· το ποτήριον της δεξιάς του Κυρίου θέλει στραφή προς σε, και εμετός ατιμίας θέλει είσθαι επί την δόξαν σου. 17Διότι η προς τον Λίβανον αδικία σου θέλει σε καλύψει, και η φθορά των θηρίων η καταπτοήσασα αυτά θέλει σε πτοήσει, εξ αιτίας των αιμάτων των ανθρώπων και της αδικίας της γης, της πόλεως και πάντων των κατοικούντων εν αυτή. 18Τις η ωφέλεια του γλυπτού, ότι ο μορφωτής αυτού έγλυψεν αυτό; του χωνευτού και του διδασκάλου του ψεύδους, ότι ο κατασκευάσας θαρρεί εις το έργον αυτού, ώστε να κάμνη είδωλα άφωνα; 19Ουαί εις τον λέγοντα προς το ξύλον, Εξεγείρου· εις τον άφωνον λίθον, Σηκώθητι· αυτό θέλει διδάξει; Ιδού, αυτό είναι περιεσκεπασμένον με χρυσόν και άργυρον, και δεν είναι πνοή παντελώς εν αυτώ. 20Αλλ' ο Κύριος είναι εν τω ναώ τω αγίω αυτού· σιώπα ενώπιον αυτού, πάσα η γη.
1I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. 2Yahweh answered me, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it. 3For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay. 4Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith. 5Yes, moreover, wine is treacherous. A haughty man who doesn’t stay at home, who enlarges his desire as Sheol, and he is like death, and can’t be satisfied, but gathers to himself all nations, and heaps to himself all peoples. 6Won’t all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases that which is not his, and who enriches himself by extortion! How long?’ 7Won’t your debtors rise up suddenly, and wake up those who make you tremble, and you will be their victim? 8Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it. 9Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil! 10You have devised shame to your house, by cutting off many peoples, and have sinned against your soul. 11For the stone will cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the woodwork will answer it. 12Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity! 13Behold, isn’t it of Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity? 14For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Yahweh’s glory, as the waters cover the sea. 15“Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, pouring your inflaming wine until they are drunk, so that you may gaze at their naked bodies! 16You are filled with shame, and not glory. You will also drink, and be exposed! The cup of Yahweh’s right hand will come around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory. 17For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and the destruction of the animals, which made them afraid; because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to every city and to those who dwell in them. 18“What value does the engraved image have, that its maker has engraved it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he who fashions its form trusts in it, to make mute idols? 19Woe to him who says to the wood, ‘Awake!’ or to the mute stone, ‘Arise!’ Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in its midst. 20But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!”
1Ik stond op mijn wacht, en ik stelde mij op de sterkte, en ik hield wacht om te zien, wat Hij in mij spreken zou, en wat ik antwoorden zou op mijn bestraffing. 2Toen antwoordde mij de HEERE, en zeide: Schrijf het gezicht, en stel het duidelijk op tafelen, opdat daarin leze die voorbijloopt. 3Want het gezicht zal nog tot een bestemden tijd zijn, dan zal Hij het op het einde voortbrengen, en niet liegen; zo Hij vertoeft, verbeid Hem, want Hij zal gewisselijk komen, Hij zal niet achterblijven. 4Ziet, zijn ziel verheft zich, zij is niet recht in hem; maar de rechtvaardige zal door zijn geloof leven. 5En ook dewijl hij trouwelooslijk handelt bij den wijn, een trots man is, en in zijn woning niet blijft; die zijn ziel wijd opendoet als het graf, en gelijk de dood is, die niet zat wordt, en tot zich verzamelt al de heidenen, en vergadert tot zich alle volken. 6Zouden dan niet al dezelve van hem een spreekwoord opnemen, en een uitlegging der raadselen van hem? En men zal zeggen: Wee dien, die vermeerdert hetgeen het zijne niet is (hoe lange!), en dien, die op zich laadt dik slijk. 7Zullen niet onvoorziens opstaan, die u bijten zullen, en ontwaken, die u zullen bewegen, en zult gij hun niet tot plundering worden? 8Omdat gij vele heidenen beroofd hebt, zo zullen alle overgebleven volken u beroven; om het bloed der mensen, en het geweld aan het land, de stad, en alle inwoners derzelve. 9Wee dien, die met kwade gierigheid giert voor zijn huis, opdat hij in de hoogte zijn nest stelle, om bevrijd te zijn uit de hand des kwaads. 10Gij hebt schaamte beraadslaagd voor uw huis; uitroeiende vele volken, zo hebt gij gezondigd tegen uw ziel. 11Want de steen uit den muur roept, en de balk uit het hout antwoordt dien. 12Wee dien, die de stad met bloed bouwt, en die de stad met onrecht bevestigt! 13Ziet, is het niet van den HEERE der heirscharen, dat de volken arbeiden ten vure, en de lieden zich vermoeien tevergeefs? 14Want de aarde zal vervuld worden, dat zij de heerlijkheid des HEEREN bekennen, gelijk de wateren den bodem der zee bedekken. 15Wee dien, die zijn naaste te drinken geeft, gij, die uw wijnfles daarbij voegt, en ook dronken maakt, opdat gij hun naaktheden aanschouwt. 16Gij zult ook verzadigd worden met schande, voor eer; drinkt gij ook, en ontbloot de voorhuid; de beker der rechterhand des HEEREN zal zich tot u wenden, en er zal een schandelijk uitbraaksel over uw heerlijkheid zijn. 17Want het geweld, dat tegen Libanon begaan is, zal u bedekken, en de verwoesting der beesten zal ze verschrikken, om des bloeds wil der mensen, en des gewelds in het land, de stad en aan alle inwoners derzelve. 18Wat zal het gesneden beeld baten, dat zijn formeerder het gesneden heeft? of het gegoten beeld, hetwelk een leugenleraar is, dat de formeerder op zijn formeersel vertrouwt, als hij stomme afgoden gemaakt heeft? 19Wee dien, die tot het hout zegt: Word wakker! en: Ontwaak! tot den zwijgenden steen. Zou het leren? Ziet, het is met goud en zilver overtrokken, en er is gans geen geest in het midden van hetzelve. 20Maar de HEERE is in Zijn heiligen tempel. Zwijg voor Zijn aangezicht, gij ganse aarde!
