1Το λοιπόν, αδελφοί μου, χαίρετε εν Κυρίω. Το να σας γράφω τα αυτά εις εμέ μεν δεν είναι οχληρόν, εις εσάς δε ασφαλές. 2Προσέχετε τους κύνας, προσέχετε τους κακούς εργάτας, προσέχετε την κατατομήν· 3διότι ημείς είμεθα η περιτομή, οι λατρεύοντες τον Θεόν εν Πνεύματι και καυχώμενοι εις τον Χριστόν Ιησούν και μη έχοντες την πεποίθησιν εν τη σαρκί, 4αν και εγώ έχω πεποίθησιν και εν τη σαρκί. Εάν τις άλλος νομίζη ότι έχει πεποίθησιν εν τη σαρκί, εγώ περισσότερον· 5περιτετμημένος την ογδόην ημέραν, εκ γένους Ισραήλ, εκ φυλής Βενιαμίν, Εβραίος εξ Εβραίων, κατά νόμον Φαρισαίος, 6κατά ζήλον διώκτης της εκκλησίας, κατά την δικαιοσύνην την διά του νόμου διατελέσας άμεμπτος. 7Πλην εκείνα, τα οποία ήσαν εις εμέ κέρδη, ταύτα ενόμισα ζημίαν διά τον Χριστόν· 8μάλιστα δε και νομίζω τα πάντα ότι είναι ζημία διά το έξοχον της γνώσεως του Ιησού Χριστού του Κυρίου μου, διά τον οποίον εζημιώθην τα πάντα, και λογίζομαι ότι είναι σκύβαλα διά να κερδήσω τον Χριστόν 9και να ευρεθώ εν αυτώ μη έχων ιδικήν μου δικαιοσύνην την εκ του νόμου, αλλά την διά πίστεως του Χριστού, την δικαιοσύνην την εκ Θεού διά της πίστεως, 10διά να γνωρίσω αυτόν και την δύναμιν της αναστάσεως αυτού και την κοινωνίαν των παθημάτων αυτού, συμμορφούμενος με τον θάνατον αυτού, 11ίσως καταντήσω εις την εξανάστασιν των νεκρών. 12Ουχί ότι έλαβον ήδη το βραβείον ή έγεινα ήδη τέλειος, τρέχω όμως κατόπιν, ίσως λάβω αυτό, διά το οποίον και ελήφθην υπό του Ιησού Χριστού. 13Αδελφοί, εγώ δεν στοχάζομαι εμαυτόν ότι έλαβον αυτό· αλλ' εν πράττω· τα μεν οπίσω λησμονών, εις δε τα έμπροσθεν επεκτεινόμενος, 14τρέχω προς τον σκοπόν διά το βραβείον της άνω κλήσεως του Θεού εν Χριστώ Ιησού. 15Όσοι λοιπόν είμεθα τέλειοι, τούτο ας φρονώμεν· και εάν φρονήτε τι άλλως πως, και τούτο θέλει αποκαλύψει εις εσάς ο Θεός. 16Πλην εις εκείνο, εις το οποίον εφθάσαμεν, ας περιπατώμεν κατά τον αυτόν κανόνα, ας φρονώμεν το αυτό. 17Αδελφοί, συμμιμηταί μου γίνεσθε και παρατηρείτε τους όσοι περιπατούσιν ούτω, καθώς έχετε τύπον ημάς. 18Διότι περιπατούσι πολλοί, τους οποίους σας έλεγον πολλάκις, τώρα δε και κλαίων λέγω, ότι είναι οι εχθροί του σταυρού του Χριστού, 19των οποίων το τέλος είναι απώλεια, των οποίων ο Θεός είναι η κοιλία, και η δόξα αυτών είναι εν τη αισχύνη αυτών, οίτινες φρονούσι τα επίγεια. 20Διότι το πολίτευμα ημών είναι εν ουρανοίς, οπόθεν και προσμένομεν Σωτήρα τον Κύριον Ιησούν Χριστόν, 21όστις θέλει μετασχηματίσει το σώμα της ταπεινώσεως ημών, ώστε να γείνη σύμμορφον με το σώμα της δόξης αυτού κατά την ενέργειαν, διά της οποίας δύναται και να υποτάξη τα πάντα εις εαυτόν.
1Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not tiresome, but for you it is safe. 2Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision. 3For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh; 4though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has confidence in the flesh, I yet more: 5circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. 7However, what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. 8Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death; 11if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, think this way. If in anything you think otherwise, God will also reveal that to you. 16Nevertheless, to the extent that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule. Let us be of the same mind. 17Brothers, be imitators together of me, and note those who walk this way, even as you have us for an example. 18For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, as the enemies of the cross of Christ, 19whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things. 20For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21who will change the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

Dezelfde dingen aan u te schrijven, is mij niet verdrietig, en het is u zeker. 2Ziet op de honden, ziet op de kwade arbeiders, ziet op de versnijding. 3Want wij zijn de besnijding, wij, die God in den Geest dienen, en in Christus Jezus roemen, en niet in het vlees betrouwen. 4Hoewel ik heb, dat ik ook in het vlees betrouwen mocht; indien iemand anders meent te betrouwen in het vlees, ik nog meer; 5Besneden ten achtsten dage, uit het geslacht van Israel, van den stam van Benjamin, een Hebreer uit de Hebreen, naar de wet een Farizeer; 6Naar den ijver een vervolger der Gemeente; naar de rechtvaardigheid, die in de wet is, zijnde onberispelijk. 7Maar hetgeen mij gewin was, dat heb ik om Christus' wil schade geacht. 8Ja, gewisselijk, ik acht ook alle dingen schade te zijn, om de uitnemendheid der kennis van Christus Jezus, mijn Heere; om Wiens wil ik al die dingen schade gerekend heb, en acht die drek te zijn, opdat ik Christus moge gewinnen. 9En in Hem gevonden worde, niet hebbende mijn rechtvaardigheid, die uit de wet is, maar die door het geloof van Christus is, namelijk de rechtvaardigheid, die uit God is door het geloof; 10Opdat ik Hem kenne, en de kracht Zijner opstanding, en de gemeenschap Zijns lijdens, Zijn dood gelijkvormig wordende; 11Of ik enigszins moge komen tot de wederopstanding der doden. 12Niet dat ik het alrede gekregen heb, of alrede volmaakt ben; maar ik jaag er naar, of ik het ook grijpen mocht, waartoe ik van Christus Jezus ook gegrepen ben. 13Broeders, ik acht niet, dat ik zelf het gegrepen heb. 14Maar een ding doe ik, vergetende, hetgeen achter is, en strekkende mij tot hetgeen voor is, jaag ik naar het wit, tot den prijs der roeping Gods, die van boven is in Christus Jezus. 15Zovelen dan als wij volmaakt zijn, laat ons dit gevoelen; en indien gij iets anderszins gevoelt, ook dat zal u God openbaren. 16Doch, daar wij toe gekomen zijn, laat ons daarin naar denzelfden regel wandelen, laat ons hetzelfde gevoelen. 17Weest mede mijn navolgers, broeders, en merkt op degenen, die alzo wandelen, gelijk gij ons tot een voorbeeld hebt. 18Want velen wandelen anders; van dewelken ik u dikmaals gezegd heb, en nu ook wenende zeg, dat zij vijanden des kruises van Christus zijn; 19Welker einde is het verderf, welker God is de buik, en welker heerlijkheid is in hun schande, dewelken aardse dingen bedenken. 20Maar onze wandel is in de hemelen, waaruit wij ook den Zaligmaker verwachten, namelijk den Heere Jezus Christus; 21Die ons vernederd lichaam veranderen zal, opdat hetzelve gelijkvormig worde aan Zijn heerlijk lichaam, naar de werking, waardoor Hij ook alle dingen Zichzelven kan onderwerpen.
